It was place she shouldn't be, but like a moth to a flame, the bikerless biker couldn't stay away from her favorite haunts for long. The smell of oil, gasoline and the faintest hint of burnt rubber was like a forgotten perfume that Maria wanted to dowse her entire body in. Her gloved hands twitched as her eyes roved over the various parts of incomplete motorcycles down to engines or blank hides waiting for the final application of paint to be applied. Although this wasn't your typical mechanics garage as she could feel suspicious eyes following her making sure nothing valuable found their ways into her jacket pockets. Then again her attire made her blend in with the regulars of the place. Her scuffed leather boots from dragging them along asphalt to give herself a sense of balance when bracing herself to kick off. The leather jacket with it's deep pockets to carry all the necessary goodies ranging from gum to the occasionally 'misplaced' wallet. While black jeans clung to her figure as a grease splattered white tank top completed it. Said grease was from her being unable to control herself when she entered the shop and was hastily greeted by a favored mechanic welcoming her back with a bear hug. In all honesty, Suit would have blown a gasket if he knew his case was inside a chop shop, rough clients and some poor sop's stolen car being scrapped in front of her. Illegal in the simplest of laws and definitely out of bound in compliance to her release. However when had Maria Sato ever been one to follow the rules set before her without testing their limits occasionally. To be straight-laced for the rest of her days would bore her tears..and she was not a pretty crier. Her mouth made a cooing sound of endearment as she gently lifted up a ebony biker helmet with modification made to it. As a single digit touched the surface, various factors came up on it such as the MPH, a brief mention of the current weather, and the temperature of the day. It would be perfect once her bike was returned to her as her mind wandered imagining all the roadtrips awaiting and with this gorgeous helmet it would make any unexpected delays easy to work around. That was the best part about this particular shop as illegal as it was there were a few nifty mechanics occasionally releasing new tech that upped their sales within seconds. Returning the helmet back to it's place as she frowned and did a few seconds of mental math if her financial situation could afford an expense. Not to mention having to get it approved by Suit who would no doubt remind her anything related to motorcycles was asking for trouble. Not that the stern man had to know everything... |

Shiori supposed things must be a lot easier if you were a licensed hero. The whole fabric of society was not just held together by the efforts of a few extraordinary individuals, no society itself had grown into a vast interconnected support network designed to supply the few that stood out. So being a cast out that didn't fit in that society or the one that grew around it sometimes meant having to resort to cavorting with the sort of people that embodied all the terrible traits that she hated in humanity. She looked down towards her cellphones GPS map with a defeatist glance. It confirmed everything that she feared, this was definitely the adres. No matter how much she wished that it wasn't. She mustered up her resolve and headed inside. For all of the obvious illegality, the rowdy atmosphere and illicit stares that undoubtedly followed from the sort of crowd this place attracted at the very least there was one thing to be said about these people. At least they were honest about being the scum of the earth. That wasn't exactly a comforting idea, but it made her feel more at ease none the less. Most people were double faced liars and she still wasn't sure whether she preferred the people who were honest about being dishonest folk over the shining examples that hid their secrets in dark corners or not. But it didn't really matter anyway, she needed a good mechanic after the last one decided that going legit paid better and gave him more options. It still irked her that that apparently meant he couldn't help her out anymore, but hero society was for the heroes after all, not for the disenfranchised outcasts that had nowhere to fit it. Well she wasn't exactly homeless either, but after she had taken off from her last 'place of residence' she wasn't exactly a permanent residence sort of girl anymore. Tokyo was a big place, heroes and villains wrecked stuff a lot. And there were always place with a low priority to rebuild. Tokyo might be known for being famously crowded and short on real estate but it too had the sort of neighbourhoods that just weren't profitable to rebuild. Sure with quirks in play there were companies that could rebuild entire buildings in a day but the bad places, those were left for cheaper sort of construction workers. The quirk less and those who build stuff because their quirks wee useless or worse and even those didn't see profit in some parts of a metropolitan area as big as Tokyo. So she slept in the wreckage, in the construction sites that were left abandoned, wherever she could find shelter from the weather really. Food wasn't that big of an issue yet, she had some money left from the cards and cash she had took on her flight of fancy but the biggest expense was gonna start coming up soon. She needed to maintain her Cybernetic arm if she wanted to hold down a job and she needed a job to maintain her arm. This didn't look like the sort of place she wanted to work or look for parts. But sometimes a girl had to do what she had to do. She took a deep breath and looked over the crowd to find the least intimidating person around. The choice was not exactly an easy one, everyone here looked downright nasty if she said something wrong. She swiped her finger across the screen of her phone and opened up a certain app. Her eyes slid over the people around, counting up their number as she shook her phone around. She checked the virtual dice on the screen and counted back towards the number she rolled before heading towards the person fate had decided she should approach. Her fingers nimbly slid across the screen as she closed the app and opened a notepad app instead, writing out a quick question in it as she came up towards the would be target of her inquiries and tapped them on the shoulder. Holding the screen of her phone out towards them. The Japanse characters on the screen were a bit small to read but legible all the same; her message roughly spelling out: [I heard I can find a job here, who should I be inquiring with?] |

I heard I can find a job here, who should I be inquiring with The faintly bright keyboard was a bit too close for her to read as she took a step back as she mouthed the words as she read. A single ebony brow arched upward in a silent question. Are you serious right now? Does it look like I have a name tag with the post "How may I help you" and freaking smiley face after it for a moment she looked down at her front to double check her reality. Said nametag was non-existent, so why was this person asking her such a question. A single pink bubble was her response as she looked over her questioner. The question wasn't exactly dumb persay..there was always the need for extra help in certain areas of garage. It all depended on the hired help's skill set, what were their talents. The blonde women before didn't seem like the hired muscle type..but who knew what type of strength lied in the woman's cybernetic arm. Her eyes stared at the metal arm a bit too long as it was her first time seeing such an advanced piece of tech, the mechanic in her nearly blabbed out her desire see how the arm was actually made. Still she held her tongue as she blew another nonchalant bubble as it let out a loud pop as she sighed as if answering a simple question like this one and cocked her hip out as she asked bluntly "Depends on your skillset and your 'moral' judgement in willingness to get your hands dirty..". Waving her hands in various directions as she pointed out various groups "Mob members..don't associate with common 'rats' like us...". Another point "Simple mechanics on hard times, ever need a tune-up on that arm of yours, a few of them still have the brain cells to snap together a quick repair or two. Shrugging her shoulders as she continued educating the lost lamb who had wandered into the chop shop. "So take your pick, and welcome to the chop shop. Careful with that of your arms..the rep of this place isn't just for show...". Edited by Silverinks, Aug 15 2016, 05:22 AM.

Well, that decision certainly backfired there. Sure she seemed to be one of the least threatening people there but this person seemed to be awfully slow on the uptake. It took her two whole bubblegum bubbles, a couple of glances down to her own chest and a sigh that more then what she actually said already told Shiori this was going to be pointless.... and there it was! She managed to come up with what was perhaps the most unhelpful answer she could have possibly given. Depends on your skill set, yeah she figured that much out by herself too! Gosh! Her mind was blown and her worldview opened to entirely new and exciting prospects. Yeah no. It seemed that as far as first impressions went neither of them was doing a very good job of making a positive one. Shiori however couldn't help but notice the cursory glance at her arm that lingered just a tad too long. Heck that little jab at the end there wasn't even a veiled thread anymore. She didn't need the explanation to know that this wasn't exactly the place for a casual stroll. She sighed a sigh not unlike the one that this woman had greeted her with; one filled with casual contempt and the implication that anything further on was just gonna be a bother for the sake of goddamn courtesy. Well you know what, screw that. The hell with courtesy. She turned herself around without giving the woman a second look. If she wasn't gonna be helpful then well she didn't have to be courteous either! Two steps, that's about as far as she got towards leaving before she stopped and typed another message on her phone. Maybe she was reconsidering the woman's usefulness or maybe she just couldn't live with herself if she left that rudely, either way it was obvious that she stopped only grudgingly. With a quick movement of her thumb she finished the message and showed the phone's screen towards the woman as she held it over her shoulder. [I Don't like your attitude, but I really need this job. If you don't wanna deal with me, point me towards someone who will.] |

Sighs were a popular choice of answers today so it seemed. Crossing her arms over her chest as the cyborg walked away from her. Well, that settles it..I really need to work on my people skills. Maria thought as her cigarette flickered amber as she held her light's flame over it. Exhaling a plume of smoke from the corner of her mouth as she let out a surprised 'huh' as the bright blue screen was placed in the center of her vision once again. While her brows furrowed slightly as she read the determined message, removing the cigarette from her mouth to knock off some of the ash as she sighed again. Raising her hands in the air with exasperation as nicotine soothed her nerves. Chuckling dryly as another plume of smoke oozed from her mouth before she admitted "Well, I can't fault you for that observation. Not much of a people person you see. Admire your stubborness though, so I will do you this favor..In return". A spark of excitment danced her amber eyes as she babbled out "I wanna see that arm of yours in action. Then I will help ya find the perfect employee for a job around here..Promise you, I don't go back on my word..". Well, most of the time at least when it came to helping others, her word was golden. Gesturing for her to follow as her booted feet puffed up plumes of dirt as she merely waved lazily towards a pile of discarded scrap "Use that arm of yours and you are bound to get some attention..which in these parts means work..". Taking one last pull of the cigarette as she tossed the nub on the ground and ground it down with her heel as a faint smirk lined her face "Let's go Pris. Go to work..find your job. 'Sides bet a cyborg like yourself can be more than just a pretty face..". |

Was she SERIOUS right now? Shiori appreciated the fact that she was given a chance here but what was with this ridiculous development. People tended to have weird expectations of her when they looked at her arm but for =fruity loops= sake these people were supposed to be mechanics, you'd expect they have at least a basic understanding of the physics of stress. Considering it was kind of relevant when dealing with engines and frames moved by said engines. Like cars. Or motorcycles for instance. She looked down at the pile of scrap metal on the ground and then back to the woman. The back to the pile of scrap with an audible sigh. She was typing quite a bit on her phone this time. Well I mean explanations do take time so it was no coincidence then that when she turned around the phone this time it was a rather long winded line of text. Which considering the nature of the Japanese writing system meant it would have taken even longer to have said it out loud. [You realise, of course, that a cybernetic limb leverages any strain placed on it back onto the body it is attached to? And that were I to use strength grossly in excess of what my own limbs could produce it would likely end up tearing my shoulder and attached bones right out of my BODY? Prosthetics are limited to mimic the users NATURAL levels of strength to PREVENT that scenario you know?] She sighed as she shook her head, barely giving the woman the time to read the long winded explanation before taking back the phone and writing a cryptic message down that came revealed in pair with a tantalising and somewhat smirk like grin. [I have a better idea.] It wasn't just the grin that did it. Her yellow eyes were quite literally shining. The yellow glow coming of her eyes was the only indication that something was happening for a few second before the largest piece on the pile, a huge cracked engine block, seemed to somehow flow together, twisting and bending the metal into improbable seeming shapes. It was like the metal had liquidised despite the fact that it evidently had not gotten hot. In fact it was not showing any other signs of being molten. It was just warping under some kind of influence that the cyborg was somehow controlling just by the power of her miiiind. Well that was kind of a silly thought of course, there was probably some kind of actual explanation for what she was doing but it pretty much looked like she had transformed the big honking block of cracked engine into a better looking visual effect of the liquid metal terminator half way through a transformation. It was still pretty much an engine block, it had not molten or transformed into a goop of metal. No it looked almost like she had stretched it's features out like she was tugging on a rubber band, narrowing stretching and twisting the metal into a.. Ahh =Crud Biscuits= Was she making balloon animals with the engine block. yeah she really was. That's just wrong and kind of hilarious. And well at one point there had been a question about her willingness to do less savoury things wasn't there. Well right when she was turning it into the most recognisable balloon animal shape, yeah you know the one, the wiener dog. she turned to look at the woman, dead in the eyes. her eyes were glowing to an almost uncomfortable bright yellow now as she opened her mouth and made a sound with her tongue. It sounded almost like when she popped her gum bubbles although a little less loud. Just a soft pop. Perhaps for emphasis she had raised her hand and closed her fist at the same time as she made the sound and at the very same time it looked like the balloon doggy shaped engine block was ripped in all directions at the same time and violently ripped apart into pieces While the pieces reverted back from their twisted and stretched appearance the moment the cyborgs eyes stopped glowing they were still undeniably shattered pieces of what used to be a cracked but still rather solid engine block.... The thought of the cyborg being mute was one that ran Maria over like a freight train. At first, she thought it was because it was just the woman trying to reveal as little as possible, but the muteness could had been a truth. Although it was nice having someone..not talk your ear off. However the sass in the texts being presented to her after the simple 'request' was evident as the words were like a flash in the pain. A amused smirk lined her lips as she deadpanned "What do I look like..a doctor?". It was her first time meeting a cyborg in the flesh..metallic flesh? Prosthetics were a completely different field of mechanics, much more bourgeois than a humble motorcycle. The young woman's smirk merely widened as the cyborg displayed another emotion aside from irritation as her text revealed a better idea in form of a smirk of her own. Crossing her arms over her chest as Maria merely gestured with a 'go on', trying her best to not fidget in excitement. Who knew what the blonde's next move would be. Shocking would be an accurate word for the display of metal manipulation as Maria tried to keep her jaw from dropping at the display. Mechanics would pa. serious cash to be able to have a Quirk like it would make finding the tiniest mechanical error an easy snap. A soft coo escaped her before she slapped a hand over her mouth at the display of cuteness at the dachshund sculpture. Giving a slow clap of applause for the cyborg as it came to dead end as the sound of tearing metal screeched through the air. Scraps seemed to hover into the air as Maria's jaw did drop as the scrap heap quickly formed once again..a bit more banged up, but whole. Hastily lighting another cigarette to prevent her own word vomit from exploding out of her. THAT was the quite the display as she took a drag of the drug before exhaling in an appreciate whistle "Now..that was impressive..Now if you would take a glance to your right, you can see the stunned faces of a few different employers. Take your pick..". Strolling over towards the cyborg as she gave a sheepish smile and offered hand in a gesture of peace "Sorry, about the whole..issue earlier..Can't be careful of you trust these. Name's Maria..and your's is??". |

[It's Shiori.] That was all the screen said this time as the cyborg held it out towards the stunned looking woman. She was a bit surprised by the 180 degree turn the woman's attitude had taken. Though her quirk could certainly produce a show, She had never much cared for it herself. Since about the only thing it was good for was breaking and warping things. There were already so many things in her life that were broken, the power to add to that list had always seemed like some cruel cosmic joke to her. On the other hand, it felt kind of nice to be appreciated for once. For Shiori who was only used to being told off and told that she was worthless, someone appreciating her worth was still a new experience. It was still a confusing thing, she wanted people's recognition and hated being around people at the same time. she realised that the world revoolved around interacting with other people but she honestly hated humanity as a whole so much, that every moment she spend looking at the people around her she was just reminded of all the stupid things people did to eachother over the most meaningless of diffrences in opinion. People huddling together like sheep for the safety that their numbers provided them and harping on the groups they weren't a part of together was just as hypocritical as hating everyone. She closed her cybernetic hand with a wistful sigh. Even she did it, her own humanity was just as much a bother as everyone else's. This arm was a blessing and a curse too. The cold machinery felt more like a part of her then the flesh it replaced ever had, but to keep it working she needed money, and to get money she had to interact with people. It was ironic in more then one way, but it was the reason she was here. She needed parts and money and the more of that she could get all at once the better. The thoughts she was haveing weren't exactly happy, she was not a very happy person after all. But in this moment her features mirrored the dark thoughts she was having more then most times. She was scowling, not at Maria in particular but at the fact she had to even BE here to begin with. She was looking over the people that had stopped working to look over their way as she gave a demonstration of her abilities. It was best to get this over with and done while she could so she looked the prospective employers over in turn before focusing her eyes back on Maria. They hadn't started of on the best of ways, but she had developed perhaps a small fondness for the girl based on the enthusiasm she had shown at her earlier display and the fact that it seemed she saw Shiori in a new light. Perhaps the same could be said about Shiori too, she was actually looking forward to talking with the girl some more in the future but right now she had other things to concern herself with. She gave her a fleeting smile as she typed up a new message on her phone in a matter of moments and held it out to her. [I'd best get to it then.. but thanks... Most people don't put their trust in me so I understand where your coming from. I'll see if one of those people staring in wide eyed wonder will take me on and maybe we can talk a bit more next time. I'd like that.] With that she gave her a small nod and took a deep breath to psych herself up. Here came the worst part. Job interviews, as informal as this was likely to be, she really hated the kinds of questions that were invariably going to come up. Well even if this was going to be a bust, she made a friend... of sorts at least. So the day was probably not entirely ruined either way. She chose the meekest, oldest and mellowest looking man in a group of rowdy looking mechanics to approach first. Their expectations would probably be the lowest... or at least that was her reasoning as she walked away, raising her hand in a casual greeting to maria as she walked passed her. |

Giving a small nod in response of the familiar view of the phone in her face. The overwhelming curiosity of wanting ask the reason behind the girl's mute state was hastily dimmed after the metalwork display. While a smaller part of her wondered if her own Quirk could be manipulated like the wreaked scrap pile if she was ever to piss off the cyborg that bad. I really shouldn't think that morbidly.. Maria thought as she sighed relaxed to ease her suddenly tensed up muscles. Despite their horrible start, it seemed the two had found a little bit common ground to stand on. It seemed like she wasn't the only one lost in reflection as Maria heard the soft sigh of the cyborg in front of her. This time the blonde's was directed at her own arm, instead of a rude remark from Maria. It was hard to imagine the struggle anyone would have in having a mechanical arm, despite it's possible uses. A faint flicker of shame curled in her gut at her earlier poking and prodding questions about it. Still it was simple relief when the cyborg's scowl wasn't at her..yet an inkling thought asked what thoughts were running through the young woman's mind. Responding to the girl's smile with a shyer one of her own Maria merely waved off the girl's thank you, casually shrugging "It's not a problem, I am glad I could..sorry if I was a bit of a..bitch earlier". While her smile grew a bit more confident at the girl's suggestion that their conversation could be continued next time their paths crossed "Ya, sounds like a plan. God knows you will possibly catch me drooling over one of the bikes here like a lovestick fool..". Giving the girl a goodbye nod as the cyborg passed her by silently wishing her luck.. Not that the cyborg would need it all. After that display offers should be clamoring to hire her. Wistfully looking down at her own gloved hands before quietly whining "Why couldn't my quirk been as cool as that...Oh well..". Her hands had become skilled with mechanics through years of experience and training..a Quirk like would have removed some of the challenge from the fun of it all. |
