Beru:
“K-kyaa~!”

Beru squealed out in delight, her hands on her cheeks as she still couldn’t quite believe where she was standing. “I-It’s s-so hiiigh!” The bubbly blonde currently was at the highest viewing gallery platform of the Tokyo Skytree, very much filling the role of the average tourist. And also, conversing excitedly with the baby panda cub on her shoulder. Xiao Xiao growled happily in agreement. It was an absolutely stunning view of the city of Tokyo on a bright clear blue day. The height was dizzying in some respects, but it was a bird's eye view of the sprawling metropolis that Beru had never experience before and she was quite impressed with it, to say the least.

For the past few months, life in the city had been exciting as ever. Though, things had also grown gradually to a more normal routine. Certainly she had had an exciting time at the Yuuei sports festival, cheering on her friends who attended and she had been working on training for her time to hopefully enter Yuuei herself, but today was an exception. There would (hopefully) be no life or dignity endagering out of the blue situations, no worrying about delivering a pizza on time, no working up an exhausting training regimen headed by the toughest personal trainer ever (Xiao Xiao). Today, she was going to relax and have fun and basically be a tourist. So what better thing to do than visit the tallest tower in Tokyo!

Dressed in casual and comfy attire fit for walking around the city, Beru had on her lime green beret hat with a bow, a simple orange cardigan with a white shirt underneath, matching lime green capri pants and sneakers. Xiao Xiao too was just a little dressed up with a simple pair of red sunglasses afficed atop his head. Slung on her shoulder was the panda bear satchel she had received from a certain Welsh teen at Christmas and she had just reached down to take out her relatively brand new pink and white smartphone. She held out the phone at arm’s length, turning her back to the city view from the floor to ceiling circular windows. On cue, the panda cub smirked wildly and Beru gave a small wink and pose, snapping a selfie on the Tokyo Skytree.

"Perfect!" Beru giggled looking over the picture on the phone screen, also showing the photo to Xiao Xiao. She still couldn't quite believe that she had gotten the device practically for free but she was already quickly getting used to the touchscreen and all the fun games she could download. With just a few taps the selfie was quickly uploaded to her social media account, where all her friends and family could see and find out what exactly the blonde was doing that day. Sighing with satisfaction Beru then put her phone back into the bag, now dreamily leaning against the railing as her emerald eyes scanned the city blocks and wondered over to the waves and water of Tokyo Bay. “The birds see this view all the time. No wonder they love to fly.” She said aloud, adjusted her red framed glasses for no particular reason. The panda cub on her shoulder nodded, though Beru would hardly seem to notice.

Thinking of birds had gotten her to thinking of wings, specifically now a set of wings she still couldn’t quite place. Takeru Igarashi. His wings… were just wonderful! Such maneuverability and control in the sky, the black and glossy coat of feathers, more specifically the long and outstretched primaries! She still had to know… was his endurance like an albatross? Was his top speed like a falcon? His agility was like a sparrow to say the least! Even at the sports festival, when his transformation had occurred in broad daylight, it was like he was made of several different birds at once and he had been moving around so fast, how could she have classified their shape? And an animal geek such as herself couldn’t help but need to bring the comparisons from actual birds wings to her friend’s. The wings practically screamed classification!

It’s not like I can ask him. The thought always trumped Beru’s wonderings. It’s just… too embarrassing! The frustration of her predicament seemed to surface on the blonde’s face in a form of a tight lipped frown and furrowed brow. Even panda cub was taking notice of his beloved Beru’s sudden change in demeanor, though the blonde herself would be too wrapped up in her thoughts to notice anything or anyone else.

Me: One could call using one's quirk for simple skyline watching a waste of power. One could call breaking a locked roof access door down a crime. One could call hanging on to the edge of a skyscraper's top suicidal. Jackson would of course ignore these comments and simply continue to stare at the city-scape before him, his demonized hand giving him a good grasp on the tower, as he searched for some recognizable landmark in the city's vast network.

He'd been here near a week but he was still getting lost after rounding two or three corners, the city some vast network that made his village seem like a candle in a forest fire that was the world. So far all he could really discern was the mountainous backdrop and a few candy stores in the city's center, no sign of his hotel here nor there.

"So I walked from there and then- hngh! The teen clenched his teeth in pain, grasping his transformed shoulder in pain. "Tch. Couldn't stay like this five seconds more, huh? Jackson questioned no one in particular, releasing the transformation on his arm and carefully climbing back down to where he had left his blue hoodie and black shirt, having taken them off earlier to prevent them being torn once he transformed.

This of course meant that along with being lost, tired, lonely and in pain, he was cold thanks to he winds at the higher altitude.

Grumbling a few choice words as he entered the stairway once more, Jackson found himself back at the observation deck fairly quickly, realizing he would have to swallow his pride and a few of his bitter thoughts and actually ask for directions for the umpteenth time.

Picking out a blonde-haired girl, who seemed to be intently staring at something, as the friendliest-looking of the bunch, he approached from behind, clearing his throat gently in the process. This garnered no response.

"Umm... Excuse me?" Jackson started, electing to not go for direct contact and instead of tapping her shoulder, started tapping what he assumed was a harmless panda stuffie (complete with sunglasses) that sat upon it, as he attempted to get her attention.

Beru:
“GRRUU!!!” Hey! Do NOT touch the fur!

“Eh?!”

Beru was abruptly pulled out of her thoughts by sudden outburst of growling by the panda on her shoulder. Xiao Xiao was continuing with his verbal attack, now with more snarls and the baring of some rather panda teeth. Beru looked around, completely and utterly confused as to what in the world the small panda cub was growling on about, before her emerald eyes finally settled upon a young boy that was beside her.

He was slightly younger for sure, though not by much except for a few years. He stood slightly shorter than her as well, though for his age he had a remarkable build. His orange hair was in a bowl like cut and his brown eyes looked at her rather expectantly or by now, in probably surprise since the panda stuffie he had tapped actually was a real live panda. It took Beru a moment to figure out what had happened, but by the growling done by Xiao Xiao it seemed that the boy had been a sudden victim to the set of rather furious growls by the panda cub. Beru scolded at the black and white creature, at once ordering him to apologize. “Now he had no idea that you were the real thing you’re just so cute! Say you’re sorry.” Beru crossed her arms, her face stern though she was playing exactly on the little panda’s ego as she ordering him to apologize for his actions.

Xiao Xiao rolled his eyes, grunting with a reluctant growl. Though his beloved Beru had told him to say sorry to such a rude character, seriously he was the one who had started it, she still had complemented on his cute appearance. He then turned his head down the boy, growling lowly with an apologetic tone.

Beru smiled to the panda, scratching him just under the chin. “See now that wasn’t so bad.” Xiao Xiao only growled happily in response to Beru’s petting, now wanting to ignore the orange haired kid’s presence entirely. The blonde then turned to the younger boy, nodding with a small bow. “Ah, I-I’m so sorry about that too! Xiao Xiao can be a little rude himself sometimes, he just simply doesn’t like strangers all too well.” She laughed a bit awkwardly, her hand going to adjust her glasses a bit nervously wondering what kind of response she would get from the boy before her.

Me:
Jackson should have realized something was up when the fur he felt was warm underneath of all things. This thought came too late however.

The boy was abruptly thrown out of his already strange element and into a new one for two reasons. For one, a panda, a miniature one at that, was garbling strange things at the boy in an accusatory tone unlike any he had ever experienced.

Coupled with this, mere seconds later the girl before him was speaking back to the creature, and in it's own language no less. To end it all off, the panda then seemed to... apologize?

“Ah, I-I’m so sorry about that too! Xiao Xiao can be a little rude himself sometimes, he just simply doesn’t like strangers all too well.”

Jackson was further thrown off by the abrupt polite bow from the girl herself and a thought seeping in... was she taller than him? Given he had been the tallest of his age group for about all his life, the shift in perspective was a bit surprising, but far less surprising than what had just occurred.

His mind springing back to reality, Jackson gave a quick bow in return before standing back up stiffly and raising his hands to his chest in a sign of surrender as he blurted out, "Gah! No, no! It was my bad, I just thought that the little guy was ..." Turning to the panda, and having processed that the animal speech was more than likely this girl's quirk, Jackson continued, "Um, again, real sorry about that. Should've realized no stuffie would be, uh, that cool?"

Jackson was as far out of his element as he could be at this point, so botching an apology or two wasn't something he was all too concerned with at the moment.

Getting back to the manner at hand the boy stated, "Sorry to ask for a favor after all that, but do you maybe know which way the Snow Flake Hotel is? I've been there a couple of times but I got turned around enough to, well, end up here."

The boy quickly also apologized in response, and he seemed rather embarrassed about the fact he had indeed mistaken Xiao Xiao for a panda stuffie instead of a real animal. Really, it hadn’t been the boys fault since most people didn’t have panda cubs who affixed themselves on their shoulders, and Beru did have an actual stuffed panda with her, in the form of the satchel she had slung over her other shoulder. Xiao Xiao growled with a rather neutral tone, more like gruffingly accepting the boy’s words of his apology. Beru understood his confusion, though found herself giggling at the situation. It couldn’t be helped that it was rather funny, despite it being at the panda cub’s and the young boys expense. “Don’t worry about it.” She said with a smile, waving the incident off within the moment. “No harm done!”

She then listened to the boy’s next inquiry, something about the location of a ‘Snowflake Hotel.’ It surely sounded like a nice place, though Beru herself had never been or heard of it before. She shrugged her shoulders, moving her hand to adjust her glasses. “Ah, I-I’m sorry but I don’t think I do know.” Her smile turned awkward as she answered him, she hoped he wouldn’t be too disappointed that she didn’t know. Then suddenly the girl’s emerald eyes lit up in a sparkle, she then went rummaging through her panda shaped bag excitedly, even the panda on her shoulder looked curiously as to what the blonde was going to do.

“Here we go!” Beru took out her pink and white smartphone triumphantly, holding it up so the orange haired boy could see as well. She then furiously began typing out something in the search bar she quickly pulled up. “Snow… flake… Hotel…” As she typed out the words, she also said them aloud and within a few moments after hitting search a map and directions popped up on the screen. “Tada! Oh, it looks like it’s only a couple blocks from here. How about we walk together?” With the wonders of modern technology and GPS at her service, Beru decided to take advantage of it for the benefit of the orange haired boy and to help with his search for the Snowflake Hotel. She could’ve just given him the directions from her phone, but instead the girl offered to walk with him and ensure that he could get to his destination. It was only the nicest thing she could do, after the incident with panda cub. She smiled, kindly and hopefully would began leading their descent down to ground level so the pair could make their way to the boy’s destination.

Jackson watched as the older teen thought about the hotel's name before proceeding to fetch her phone and look up the Snowflake's address. Coming up with positive results, Jackson was surprised Beru went so far as to walk with him all the way there.

Most people had simply pointed in general directions of the hotel and then gone about their business, their directions more often than not being a tad to vague for the child to make sense of, leading him down some weird and wonderful parts of the city, but never where he quite wanted to go. Normally Jackson would have declined the offer, finding it a bit embarrassing to have to be led around town after so much time, but decided he had better accept given the hassle he had put the girl through on her free time.

"Sure, that'd be a big help. I'm not the best with where I'm going around." Jackson stated with a slight laugh, offering both a grin and his right hand, digging it out of his front pocket and putting it in place for a handshake. "I'm Jackson, Jackson Game. And I think the one on your shoulder is... Xiao Xiao? Nice to meet you both."

The boy's smile faded for a second or so, as he realized which hand he was using. Abruptly, Jackson switched out his darkened, demonic-like hand for his left, far more normal one. The smile reappeared, but was clearly fake, Jackson attempting to suppress several nasty memories he had of people mocking and berating him for his quirk back home.

"Shouldn't have forgotten my gloves.." The teen mused to himself, hoping Beru wouldn't pay too much mind to the strange, abrupt action.

Beru was thankful that the boy let her walk him to his destination, looking at her phone periodically to make sure that they were indeed making their way to the right place. The bright and sunny day was a good one for walking, the streets of Tokyo filled with the usual crowd of tourists and everyday people. Xiao Xiao didn’t make too much of a fuss with the idea of helping the boy to the hotel, but he was making the best of the situation by having fun just as the blonde was.

Along the way, the boy introduced himself as Jackson Game, certainly a kind of name she had never heard before, perhaps it was foreign. He offered his hand to her, though he curiously then switched to his other hand. Beru, not the most observant of blondes, didn’t notice the odd coloring of his right hand and was left in some confusion as to why he suddenly switched. But she didn’t question him and took his left hand with her own in a friendly handshake. “I’m Kemono, Beru!” She said with a same and a small nod that served as a bow. “And yep, this is Xiao Xiao!” She added, motioning to the panda on her shoulder. The panda cub growled in a gruffing acknowledgement to the boy. Beru in return growled back to him with a little words of panda language of her own, though the tiny bear still wasn’t warming up to the orange haired boy anytime soon. It was time for the blonde to roll her eyes, and then she sighed, giggling back Jackson.

“It certainly takes him a while to get used to people, but he doesn’t mind you really.” Beru said as they continued walking down the street block, the small panda dismissed the young boy as if he wasn’t there at all. For the sake of keeping conversation and since she was genuinely curious, Beru decided to ask the young boy a few questions. “S-So Jackson-kun where are you from? Uh, how long are you staying? Since we are heading to a h-hotel and all, unless ah… you’re not actually staying at the hotel. Y-You might be meeting someone, o-oh you didn’t say that… I don’t mean to pry or ask too many questions or hold you up or anything!” Her simply question ended up in some awkward ramblings and she ended up being even more curious then she meant to sound. Though, in the end she waited patiently for a response to her jumble of words as the came closer to the Snowflake Hotel.

Jackson gave a few buildings an up and down look, still amazed by their sheer size but made sure to stick close to Beru as well, listening to her talk as they rounded a corner the boy turned to see that Beru's statement regarding the young panda was indeed true. The creature was pretty much outright ignoring him at this point.

Jackson simply gave a shrug at her last comment regarding Xiao Xiao and stated, "Hey, I started it so it's only fair. But if you're sure he'll swing around, that's all the better."

“S-So Jackson-kun where are you from?...

The child's demeanor dripped quite dramatically at the topic, thinking how best to respond without pretty much abolishing the cheery mood. But the names, the fights, the staring, it just kept pounding his head like a jackhammer.

"Huh... Well, I..." The boy struggled to find the right words, scratching the back of his head with his left hand unconsciously, his expression far more neutral than chipper now. "It's a decent distance from here, and you could say the folks that live there are pretty... close-minded. They don't like to be known about really." Jackson glanced at Beru momentarily, seeing if the small clue maybe gave her an idea of where he was from.

Sighing, the boy figured either way he might as well give a decent amount of information on his home. "They're not fond of people with quirks. Not really..." The teen pulled his right hand from out his pocket and clenched it out of habit to keep some more nasty thoughts back, the marking his arm lighting up just slightly under his hoodie. "They're a scared sort is the best way to describe it really."

Realizing he had done the last thing he'd wanted to do, Jackson forced on the best smile he could, harshly shoving his right hand back into his front pocket and now more sheepishly scratching the back of his head, a blush on his face as he said, "Um, sorry, just get a bit moody sometimes. And, uh, yeah, I'm kind of her indefinitely, good old parents are paying for the, um, trip I guess you could say! Haha!" Clearing his throat, Jackson continued far more calmly than before, but his face still pink with embarrassment, "Nah I'm not meeting anyone there. But hey, um, you must have grown up around here. How's the city life? Never seen this many buildings so big and close together my whole life."

Beru was glad that the orange haired boy was understanding about Xiao Xiao’s general rude demeanor towards him. She still had to scold the small bear for being so rude, but really it was true that only with time did Xiao Xiao ever warm up to people. The panda cub seemed content with ignoring the orange haired boy entirely, and Beru simply decided to stop trying for the moment. She listened intently to Jackson’s odd explanation of where he came from. It seemed like he was trying to say it the name of the place without really saying the name at all. The blonde teen only looked at him with a tilt of her head in confusion, nodding absentmindedly though unsure of where or what exactly he was trying to say as he trailed off with his own words. Close-minded people? Surely the blonde did understand that certain people just had stubborn personalities and perhaps they just wanted to keep to themselves instead of being into everyone’s business. She didn’t really get it, but some people were just like that.

It didn’t seem like Jackson was entirely fond of his hometown either as Beru blinked in alarm at hearing that the people in his hometown were actually scared of quirks. She gasped aloud, thinking that it was a rather unbelievable fact that there even existed such types of people. Afraid of quirks? How could that be? Quirks were wonderful things, unique to everyone that had them and made it possible for there to be real live heroes in the world! And not to mention her own quirk that allowed her to speak with animals, what would she do if she could never speak to Xiao Xiao ever again?! “T-that’s so a-awful! I mean no offense to your or the people in your hometown, b-but I don’t think those people understand how a-amazing quirks are and h-how great they can be!” Beru suddenly exclaimed to the younger boy, she certainly hoped the boy would understand her point of view on the matter and just how misguided the idea of being afraid of quirks was. “I m-mean I guess there are some mean people out there who use their quirks t-to do mean things… but there are also h-heroes who use their quirks to help people!” Beru sighed, the panda on her shoulder had noticed how passionate the girl had become on the topic of quirks. Xiao Xiao growled in support of her words, though only partially understanding what she was speaking about.

“I-It’s really not a quirk’s fault i-if it gets used by mean people. G-Gosh, it just d-doesn’t make any sense why’d people be afraid of all of them!” Ending her input with a confused tap of her fingers to her chin, she allowed Jackson to change the subject. Picking up on the idea that it was a rather moody subject for him and just a simply confusing one for herself. He then explained that his parents were the ones paying for his hotel in the city, and that his stay was for the mean time indefinite. Such a young kid and already so independent! Beru couldn’t help but feel a little impressed, also thinking it was rather cute. Though his laugh might’ve been on of embarrassment, Beru didn’t pick it up and instead giggled with him like it was a natural thing to do. “It must be nice that your parents pay for you! I have to have several part time jobs to pay for my rent.” Continuing now, she giggled at herself at her own living situation.

Jackson then went on to ask her about her home in the city more and Beru had to giggle a bit more at the mention that she had grown up in Tokyo. “O-oh no! I g-grew up in a small, little farm out in the country, at least a few hours train ride from here!” She explained with a smile. “I’ve only been in the city for a few months, I-I’m studying so I can get into a hero academy.” Then nodding proudly at the mention of entering a hero academy, she wondered for what reason the boy was here. However, she didn’t ask about it, picking up that talking about his personal life could be just as moody as his revealing the opinions of those back at his home. However, he was free to ask all about her and if so wished, to share more things about himself. They were nearly to the hotel now and conversation was a nice thing to make as they walked together.

The orange-haired boy thought over what Beru had said, how passionate she was about quirks and what people could do with them. He supposed it was simply the difference in societies, but maybe he had to admit it gave him a bit of hope. If this was how strongly everyone felt here about their abilities, then maybe life out here wouldn't be all too bad.

At the mention of also being from out of town the boy's smile became a tad more genuine, glad he'd met someone with at least a few things in common with him. "Haven Village wasn't the friendliest place, but I gotta say I like the outdoors a fair bit more. It's quieter, feels a bit more alive." Jackson mused, looking up a bit, barely realizing he had said his hometown's name. "Lakes are my favorite place to go. Lots of fish to catch, birds singing some weird songs. My dad was big on the peace of nature and the like."

By now, the corners were getting more familiar, the Snow Flak hotel's bright exterior appearing just over the horizon.

Hearing the mention of a hero academy, Jackson halted abruptly pretty much turning on the spot. The young teen stared with a good deal of intensity, for a decent length of time, into the blonde girl's eyes, making sure he could get a good read on her response. Should she choose to give one, of course.

"I think I remember you, back from the sports festival. You're friends with a bunch of the competitor's, right?" The boy paused, giving Beru time to answer as he collected his thoughts on the topic. "I've heard a lot about UA, how it's a place for the best and makes them even better. I saw that much during the festival. But what I wanna know is, I guess, what makes you wanna become a hero, like a whole bunch of people do? Saving people and stuff. I kind of got sent here with the expectation it's what I wanted to do but... well if you had to convince someone... "

Jackson let the sentence drop off, realizing it might have been a bit much to dump on someone he had just met, willing to let the topic drop if it was indeed too much. But the question had been gnawing at him. Could he handle being in charge of someone's safety, their life, when push came to shove?

Hearing that boy enjoyed the outdoors, Beru nodded in understanding, finding a spirit with Jackson. The outdoors and nature was indeed a wonderful place, and the way he described enjoying the lakes, and activities like fishing and listening to birdsong. “Nature and animals are such wonderful things!” She agreed wholeheartedly with a smile, since after all she was an obvious animal lover and nature lover as well.

When she mentioned she wished to go to a hero academy, the Snow Flake Hotel was well within sight, a fancy enough looking place with a golden exterior and general high class appearance. Beru was just about to tell the orange haired boy they were to reach their destination until he suddenly stopped, causing the girl to halt in her movements as well. With a tilt of her head, she listened to his words of recognition from the sports festival and for the fact she knew several people at Yuuei. He went on to talk about the hero academy itself, the fact that it trained heroes, the best of heroes and really why so many people wanted to go there and become heroes. It was an interesting question for the blonde, who had never met someone that didn't outright admire the job of being a hero.

Of course he wasn't saying he didn't like heroes, he was just asking for a reason to become one. To the blonde the answer was a relatively simple one. She smiled, nodded her head with confidence and her regular naive demeanor. "W-well, I want to be a hero because I think that it's a hero's job to be a kind person and help people when they're in trouble! I've d-definitely wanted to be like that, ever since I was a little kid." It was true after all, growing up in the country where heroes had gained such notoriety and status, the job of a hero had long been glamorized as one of justice and do gooding. But even if such ideals were all publicity, Beru seemed to wholeheartedly believe that heroes were there to genuinely help people. "Since I've wanted to become a hero, it's also inspired other members of my family to turn to heroism. L-like my dad and my cousin!" Clapping her hands together, it was obvious too that blonde was very proud of her family and their careers in the hero field.

"They're both heroes and really awesome ones! I-I guess I just really want to make them proud too... b-by becoming a hero who's kind to others and helps people in need!" Giggling a bit, perhaps there was more personal motivation for her reasons in wanting to become a hero, like such family affairs. Xiao Xiao the panda cub had also listened intently to the girls explanation for her dream to being a hero, however the small bear at once growled slightly pulling at the girls bangs in a sudden bout of anger. At first Beru scolded at him for acting so rude once more, but realizing then what he was saying to her, she laughed out loud and then scratched the panda under the chin.

"Yeah, we'll definitely become heroes together!" She nodded to the panda cub and then looked to the orange haired boy. She didn't really know if she had been convincing in any way, but she just explained what her thoughts on heroes were supposed to be. She hoped what she had said made some sort of sense and with Xiao Xiao's interjection also not too ridiculous. Really, the blodne just wanted to help people and that's what a hero's job was all about.

It wasn't the most complex of answers, but perhaps that helped convince Jackson some. Seeing someone adore heroes so deeply and honestly, as well as having a familial relationship with not one but two of them, it made the answer all the more genuine.

"To help people, and be kind? Yeah... that'd show him." Jackson chuckled to himself quietly taking a few steps forward before realizing how the snicker could be taken.

"You strike a pretty good point, ya know? I think I'll keep my eyes out for that entrance exam. Show the people back home, they didn't quite succeed in corrupting me inside out!"

This way, the people at Haven wouldn't win. He'd show them, prove to them, like Beru had said, quirks didn't make someone evil. No, people choose that path for themselves, and this would be his choice.

Reaching the entrance to the hotel, Jackson turned around, a genuine smile on his face as he stated, "Thanks, Beru. Not just for the help, but for, well, leading me the right way... Course, Xiao Xiao was a big help too!" The boy added abruptly, making certain he didn't raise the ire of the seemingly easily irritable panda.

Remembering his manners, Jackson directed his thumb at the hotel and offered, "You have a second for some tea? It's the least I could do after the help."

Jackson, of course, understood if the blonde-haired girl had to be on her way, having taken up much of her time already. If that should be the case, he'd wish her luck for the exams, being certain to see her there again.

Seeing him smile at her words and then even laugh with, made Beru feel proud to have said something that would make him so happy. It was another part of a ‘hero’s job’ after all, bringing a smile to people’s face, at least in her mind. He confirmed with her that her point was indeed a ‘good’ one, which made the blonde even more proud of herself. Maybe she really did know a thing or two about heroes after all! A small blush appeared on her cheeks as she nodded in thanks and soon clapped her hands together for the statement by the orange haired boy. “T-thank you! T-That’s great Jackson-kun! I’m sure y-you’ll be able to do your own thing!” The Yuuei entrance exams, the one chance to of course, show off hero skills and the chance to actually demonstrate to real hero pros what being a hero was all about.

The two, well, trio, would reach their destination within the next moment. The Snowflake hotel and it seemed that it was near time for Beru and her panda cub to part ways with the orange haired newcomer. It made the blonde slightly sad that they would have to say goodbye, even as he smiled in thanks for what she had done for him. Xiao Xiao too, smirked proudly at the compliment the boy had gave him, but then quickly went back to dismissing the boy with a growl. The panda cub had already given off his rather judgmental persona about Jackson and he really couldn’t be backtracking on it now. Beru giggled, knowing that it was proof that Xiao Xiao believed the orange haired kid couldn’t have been that bad.

But just as she thought he was going to say goodbye, Jackson suddenly offered up the invitation for some tea! It was a way of saying thanks even more so for showing him the way to his destination. Beru’s emerald eyes sparkled in surprise and some giddiness, though goodbye was inevitable at least it could be delayed for a few moments more for a cup of tea together. “O-Of course! I’d be more than happy to!” She nodded excitedly in thanks, quickly following the orange haired boy to their tea drinking destination. Of course Xiao Xiao had grumble-growled at the thought of spending even more time with their apparent newfound friend, but Beru was glad that the meeting wasn’t quite over yet.

Giving a thankful nod a small chuckle at the sight of Xiao Xiao's quickly disappearing smile, Jackson jerked as thumb at the hotel's entrance as a sign to follow him inside. The boy was glad to have some company for a change, considering all he really had to do for the rest of the day was laze around.

The Snowflake Hotel's lobby was a fair bit of a sight, two tall, cascading water fixtures just past the entrance that stood like a pair of soldiers, leading into an enormous, open, circular space with a snowflake-pattern, blue carpet covering the floor. The reception desks stood far in the back, with the elevators to the right, the top floor numbering somewhere in the 70's as far as the boy could remember.

Finding himself in the elevator and then his room in what felt like no time at all, Jackson mused to himself, "At the very least they kicked me out into a nice place.."

"Oh, uh sorry, about the mess. Not too many people come over..." Jackson stated, gesturing to articles clothes lying about here and there, the boy's own combat outfit lying on a single-seater chair. The hotel room was quite simply of average size, the main area being a large, open space that connected the kitchen, dining room and living room, a hallway at the back leading to the bedroom and bathroom.

Getting to work with the tea, having only one store brand on hand and hoping it would suffice, a thought suddenly reached the young teen's brain. He had now both walked with, and invited inside, a girl near his age from what it seemed. And apart from the small panda, they were alone.

A large blush encompassing Jackson's face and an awkward smile threatening his lips, the boy attempted to push such thoughts clear out of his mind, muttering as the kettle boiled, "S-so um, you said your, c-cousin and dad were, um heroes, right."

Hoping she wouldn't notice his blush the boy raised his hood to cover his face somewhat more, abruptly seating himself on the same seat his combat gear was on, hands clasped on his knees and head down as his blush faded slightly.

Beru followed Jackson through the doors of the rather fancy hotel. Marveling at the high class and elegant decor, the blonde was once again reminded of how lucky she always seemed to be running into rather rich and high class friends, the orange haired boy surely being something of the same nature. Going with him into the elevator, she noticed the staggering amount of floors that the building had, not unlike another huge skyscraper she had been in last winter. Thankfully though, she was certain that there be no waiters with guns or mean alligator men around.

They soon came to Jackson's room, rather quaint size, almost like the girl's own apartment but with a stunning view of the metropolis of Tokyo being so many stories up of course. It was a bit messy but the blonde didn't appear to mind one bit, her own apartment could be a worse for wear at times as well. "O-oh, don't worry! My own apartment's super messy too!" She giggled once again, the panda on her shoulder sighing in agreement since he too had to live in the blonde's apartment which seemed in a constant state of eternal chaos if one was being so honest.

Taking a seat at the table, she accepted Jackson's tea with a smile, taking a gracious sip and nodding in satisfaction of a good cup of tea. While it wasn't anything spectacular, it still was certainly refreshing and relaxing. She tilted her head to the orange haired boy, listing to his inquiry about the family members she had mentioned who had turned to heroism. "O-Oh yes! My cousin and my dad a-are heroes!" She nodded, excitedly, her emerald eyes sparkling with pride about her heroic family members.

"My cousin Toni lives in America, i-in LA! He works together with the police to take down gangs and drug cartels. He's so cool like that and so a-amazing!" Beru clasped her hands together going on in admiration of her cousin, who was very much like a brother to her. Xiao Xiao too nodded in support of Toni's amazing-ness. "M-My dad just recently turned to hero work, he used to be a marine biologist. H-He's better known Agent K of the Himitsu Hero Office! He's s-so a-amazing like my cousin! But he's already taken down illegal boat operations and works tirelessly through the scientific method to take down criminals!" Beru's hands clenched into firsts, herself becoming rather fired up about talking of her heroic family members. To Beru, her father and cousin were her number one heroes and she simply wanted to be just like them as a hero as well. Turning to Jackson, her voice became a bit softer after speaking so loudly.

"My cousin and dad a-actually didn't originally want to become heroes, y'know?" It wasn't so much as a question but as a surprising statement about the two heroes in her life she looked up to. Taking a sip of her tea, Beru's smile also softened as well. "But ever since I was a kid... I a-always knew I wanted to be a hero. Heroes were always just the coolest thing. Saving people, helping people and doing it with a smile all in the face of danger. It's just so a-amazing how a hero can do that." The panda on her shoulder also noticed Beru's change in tone and nudged his round head to the girl's cheek, causing the blonde to giggle from the fur tickling her skin. "I guess when they really heard my dream, my cousin and dad wanted the to do same thing. S-so now that they're amazing heroes, I have to become one too! After all, it was originally my dream and I can't let them down!"

Jackson listened on as Beru talked about her family garnering that a large part as to why the blonde girl wanted to be a hero was thanks to, what at least sounded like, really amazing role models from around the globe. Sipping on his tea, Jackson considered his own role models as he stated, "L.A., huh? I think I have some family there, though they don't get talked about a lot. Only people I really have to look up to are my folks..."

Watching the older teen getting a bit more pumped when mentioning talking about her father, Jackson gave a genuine smile, glad he'd met someone rather cheery after the last few days of loneliness, as well as finding her enthusiasm a fair bit cute.

Hearing the girl's voice grow a bit quieter Jackson's mind jumped back into the conversation, his interest growing as he heard how her family members actually hadn't planned on being heroes at first. Jackson grew a bit more intrigued by the story as Beru went into more depth as to why exactly she loved heroes so, what it meant to be one, the girl giving off vibes of hope as she spoke.

"You really do make them sound like the coolest thing, ya know?" The young teen stated, giving a small chuckle before continuing, "But hey, we definitely gotta become heroes together, ya know? You seem like someone fun to team up with! And, hey, I promise not to leave you in the dust." Jackson gave a bit of an exaggerated smile as he attempted a joke, going for another sip of his tea to find the cup empty.

Beru smiled at hearing the admiration she felt for her hero family members easily transferred to the orange haired Jackson. The blonde even giggled aloud in matching excitement when the boy proclaimed that they would become heroes, together. So the orange haired boy had been convinced by her, of all people, to go toward the path of heroism?! It certainly was the most exciting thing, becoming heroes with friends and creating even more everlasting bonds!

"Oh, I'll not be far behind, Jackson-kun!" Was it a challenge for a rival? A new determination sparkled int eh blonde's emerald eyes, now backed up by the face a smirking panda cub. If it wad a challenge, then certainly no one would best the strongest panda partner in the world and his beloved Beru! Xiao Xiao growled in agreement, he would be sure to get back at the orange haired boy for rudely touching his fur at their first encounter as well.

Giggling, Beru took a sip of her tea surprised to find now that it was gone just afterwards. She nodded her head to her orange haired host, knowing that now was probably the time for a true goodbye. "Thank you so much for the tea, it was wonderful and I'm so glad that we had a chance to meet each other." With a smile she stood up and began making her way tot he door, allowing of course the host to lead her along the way. When she made it to the hallway, she turned back to him with her usual smile, waving in their final goodbye, until of course they would meet again. Xiao Xiao too looked back with a smirking growl, no longer an adversary in a sense, but a new rival that he would surely best.

"Haha! Goodbye, Jackson-kun~!"

Not knowing he had just developed a new rival, Jackson kindly guided Beru to the door and gave his goodbyes to both her and Xiao Xiao.

"I'll be sure to catch you at the exams! Thanks again!" The boy stated, giving a wave as he watched the pair walk down the hallway.

Closing the door behind him, Jackson went about cleaning his hotel room, starting with the tea set and then packing away a few of his clothes while he was at it, the young teen thought to himself "She was real nice, definitely nothing like the people back home..."

The thought echoing in his head somewhat, the young teen glimpsed his battle gear once more. Taking the seat opposite the outfit, Jackson stared at it a moment, before looking at the floor in thought, his fingers interlocked as he did so.

"Mom made it for me, going away present really... They sent me off here, wanted to keep me 'safe'... but I doubt they meant me..." Approaching the window, Jackson eyed the city's skyline, picking out the skyscraper he had been on the top of what felt like moments ago.

"The whole village thinks everyone out here's a monster, that I'll end up on the news as a murderer or something, that I'll be shoved in some jail far away from them! But that's not gonna happen..."

Gazing at his right hand, the teen's brain echoed something Beru had said earlier, Jackson repeating out loud, "Saving people, helping people and doing it with a smile all in the face of danger, huh? Sounds simple enough." Staring at the skyline again, but now with a smile on his face, Jackson said, "If nothing else, that'd make the people in Haven real jaded... So thanks Beru, really. For being a friend, and a local hero.
