To call the small, spectral goose restless ever since the night of that fateful invasion would be quite the understatement. Leroy had nary a chance to rest ever since Vitality decided to snoop around in some business that wasn’t their’s, causing their leader Abyssal to fall under critical condition. It didn’t help that she could no longer be kept in the general hospital, as the lava spewing tyrant was soon required to be induced for an indefinite amount of time. Apparently Leroy’s “southern charm” and corny jokes were too much for the former #2 Hero, as the mere sight of him began to drive her vitals up to dangerous levels. Unfortunately for her, this simply meant she’d have to be put into a indefinite medical coma underneath Kame House, considering the grating goose was the only medical staff available. The bright side to this relocation, however, was that it allowed the Mississippi medic to get a bit closer to Mercutio. They’d often have long, varied conversations while the two worked alongside eachother, whether it was about life in general, Leroy’s departure from Adrestia, or the intricacies of their quirks. It was an opportune way for Leroy to show he was a bit smarter than his Southern drawl suggested, something that surprised most people. Few would guess he spent his early years touring with scientists, or spoke a multitude of languages. He even was able to go into great detail about his own quirk with Mercutio, during a conversation on seals and Crimson Soul that ultimately led to nothing. Apparently Leroy’s understanding of his quirk was enough to spark another interest in Mercutio, that of human experimentation. For the past few days the topic was brought up, generally to gauge the goose’s moral view on the subject. Considering how common place the use of animals were for testing, Leroy had very little qualms with the idea. To him, humans weren’t inherently more valuable than any other beast. If anything, the goose was welcoming of the idea, as he was under the assumption that the hospital melting wretch would be their first “volunteer.” After a few brief texts from Mercutio stating that “today was the day,” Leroy stood waiting underneath Kame House. The goose couldn’t get many specifics out of his Crimson compadré, with most of the answers essentially suggesting for him to “wait and find out.” The goose would do so, counting the seconds to where Mercutio would either meet him underneath in the laboratory or transport the goose to his own location. Waiting with bated breath, the young doctor was definitely not prepared for the moments to come. Perhaps asking “who” their test subject would be would’ve been a wise idea. |

Queen Harmonia, First of Her Name, Ruler of the Realm

“Again…” A blaze of rainbow flames ignited from nothing, scorching the mixed sands of the isle at a solitary figure’s feet for the umpteenth time that morning. The fire swirled and engulfed the appendages of said figure, raising to temperatures that made the surface beneath them start turning into a glassy sheen as it was blasted with enough heat to create brittle glass. Their thigh-length hair was blazing like the fires surrounding her; cascading straight up and mimicking the flames intricately, down to every waving strand. The colours of a fiery rainbow illuminated the previously platinum locks, and the wide eyes set beneath furrowed brows, too, blazed with a huge spectrum of colour. Slowly, with the longer this fire lingered on and around the woman’s body, the skin on her slender arms started to blister. She gritted her teeth and balled her hands into fists, the previously beautiful rainbow colours giving way to angry, livid flares of pure crimson as her anger rose. Concentrate. Breathe. … Her body had to be able to withstand this!! She had to withstand so much more, to be able to claim that she was any holder of power within Adrestia. The limits of yesterday were supposed to be behind her, right? Aside from a quest of origins, her journey had been about shattering through walls inhibiting her progress. There was no way in hell she’d allow herself to be protected by those she was supposed to be protecting. She’d die before that happened again, and for once, it wasn’t just her pride or rage talking. She had finally found something she wanted to protect, and was prepared to stay rooted, grounded, to do it. More blisters, and more burns tore at the upper layers of her skin. With a pained and angered yell, the Sorceress of ‘Fierce Flame’ released her rainbow fires before falling to a knee. Alana’s breath felt as if it were being dragged from her lungs as she knelt there, the skin on her hands cracking and flaking from the burns she had already subjected herself to in previous training sessions. Although she was all-but entirely immune to her own fire, she had started to find that the temperatures she wanted to reach were impossible to attain. Although she could produce and manipulate fire through her flaming wisps, she was merely resistant to its heat; its destruction. What was power when it was limited? It wasn’t the freedom she wanted, and she was prepared to burn herself to a crisp in the pursuit of the raw power she sought. Heat blisters cracked and broke on her knees, and she hissed softly as sand entered through the weeping wounds. But, slowly, she pushed herself back up until she was standing once more; hands held at either side in her standard ‘mage’ stance. One by one, six balls of rainbow fire started to materialise from her body before dancing around her outstretched and shaking limbs. Their appearance immediately had her hair and eyes blazing in the same rainbow hues, and slowly, her long hair started to float into its flame-like formation above her head; completely exposing her blistered and scarred upper back. Most of her tank top had been burned away, and the workout shorts she wore were also suitably smouldering with heat. “Again…!” She repeated to herself, louder than before as if needing to be louder for further encouragement to herself in this seemingly impossible task. And thinking of its impossibility, she grew even more frustrated. Why, when flames were her dominion, was she unable to harness every aspect of them?! Fire was fire, no matter its appearance… surely. Three ethereal flames blazed across each of her arms at a regular burning temperature, and slowly, she started to increase it into a blazing inferno. As always, she was able to withstand it for a short amount of time, and then, her body began to suffer. With her back towards Kame House and whoever was there, she snapped her head to the side while writhing in agony where she stood. “Why… why is my own damn power… so limited?! Where is it? Where’s my… freedom?!?” |

"It's limited because you are pushing outwardly in and not inwardly out. You are compressing instead of expanding, my Love." Mercutio explains as he drifts down. He has been watching for a while, admiring her attempts and endurance. "I too was coming here to do what you are doing. Was going to hit myself with my own attacks, fight me with my own clone... that kind of stuff, but I come to find you." he said with a subtle blush. They had been together for so long, but because of who Mercutio aimed to be and wished the world to be he'd been more or less absent on the island for large lengths of time. This is not to say Alana waited on him as she was busy too, she ran what was formerly Yoshizawa and turned it quickly into AoA. She was an impressive woman of uncontrollable chaos and how he ever managed to guide her chaos or make her fond of him he most likely will never understand. "I had been talking to Goose-guy about you, yea?" he said, getting a bit timid. "I had an idea to help you and see what you are doing makes me extra excited because I think you are already trying to do a form of what I was considering going for. I think based on your aura, that your quirk isn't developed yet fully. The way you manifest fire, it seemingly resonates from within, but it's bizarre in how you don't have a quirk organ yet your hair and eyes change. I think your mutation needs a trigger." These words were out of care and his knowledge of Alana's search for her own power. It was after Mercutio's announcement and declaration to himself to be the Singularity King that he started to do what research he could on quirks as quickly and thoroughly as possible. "Leroy is energy itself, completely and sentient, between the two of us and healing you I think we could find out what you do because I think you are similar to a very rare type of quirk know as an Elemental Body. I've seen the Lightning Form in many different users over the years and I think you are an untapped Fire Body." he smiled proudly, patting her head and increasing her heat she was generating. "You have to push yourself beyond and through a lot of pain. You cannot let death stop the pursuit of what you desire. You have a curse to break, hm?" he said, taking them both to wear Leroy was underneath Kame House. Before them sat a massive chamber that swiveled from out of the wall, the freezer flipping behind the wall into the false space behind it. "When I was much younger, I had brain damage that squeed my personality, dreams, aspiration and it was quirked that helped me become myself again after my accident. I was going to try to use the bodies of others as my own puppet fighters but I failed too many times over in attempts when I was young and I stopped the pursuit, however, I kept and held the technology. Step in this chamber and we can begin if you are willing to let us help." he said with a warm smile. |

Leroy sat twiddling his transparent thumbs as he waited beneath Kame House, unsure as to how long his Singularity Supervisor would take before joining him into the laboratory. The bubbly waterfowl was giddy with excitement, the medic having begun to envision all of the hypothetical experiments they were going to run on the hostile hospital home-wrecker. Not only did she have a strong quirk, but a strong body as well. The endurance alone would offer up a smorgasbord of ethically questionable routes, and the curious doctor was chomping at the bit to get started. Leroy would dart immediately over as the pair entered, ecstatic to see Alana once more. The pair had became fairly close before the invasion, and the medic was pained to see the blazing loli take leave of Elysium. No matter if she had been back a day or for months, work had kept the medic too busy from finding out about Alana’s reappearance. Leroy would immediately go for a hug, although his excitement would likely cause him to go straight through her. Unless she got out of the way of the projectile goose, Alana would feel a tidal wave of happiness course through her veins. ”Miss Lahner, Miss Lahner! How yuh been? How was the trip? Are yuh here tuh watch us ‘speriment on Abysser?” The southern friend specter began to leisurely make his way over to the comatose Abyssal, fully unaware of who their test subject was actually going to be. His tone rang with excitement, the goosely ghost literally swimming through the air as he floated over to the former hero. While it was obvious there was a miscommunication somewhere, the critter’s passion would be awfully endearing to most. ”Yes ma’am, Ol’ Abysser’s in fer a world of science. Then scientists I was uh-round always talked ‘bout ‘sperimentin’ on animals, so I guess I’ll finally learn how that feels. Uh-honk! Now, I ain’t sure what all we got planned, but I figure she’ll be- Oh.” The floating pastel goose would stop abruptly in his tracks, having finally pieced together the activities Mercutio had in store. All the recent talks about quirks, his own physical make up, and Alana? It finally came to together. Mercutio has been talking to him about Alana a lot recently, but Leroy simply assumed that the Crimson Casanova was simply lovesick. The goose would slowly float his way back, his ghostly eyes staring blankly at the two. The look on his face suggested that the gears finally had started to turn, as the quack doctor began to run through a multitude of scenarios through his see-through noggin. He’d give out a deep sigh, the medic left rubbing underneath his hat. ”Well if Big Red knows what he’s doin’, and you’re on board, I reckon I can do my best and take part. It was as reassuring as the Southern medic could be at the moment, slightly uneasy at the idea of experimenting on such a close friend. He found solace, at least, in Mercutio’s immense love for the blazing Lolita. The goose assumed that the passion Merc had outweighed his morbid curiosity, and wouldn’t risk losing his beloved. If there really was any danger, Leroy thought, Big Red wouldn’t be doin’ this. The bubblegum bird would do a small backflip in surprise, slightly startled as the colossal column gave way to a new space. He hadn’t exactly gotten the chance to explore underneath Kame House, although the fear of accidentally stumbling into Merc’s manga collection kept the goose from floating too far from the lab. This new revelation, however, was enough to pique the bird’s interest for more exploration later on. Leroy’s southern drawl would crack in excitement, his earlier reservations now fully evaporated as the experiment would soon begin. ”Well I’ll be danged Big Red, never knew we had another crawl space! Now, mind givin’ me a run down of this here contraption? Since I’ll prolly be havin’ to heal summ’n from it, best to get a heads up now.” The doctor would await Mercutio’s answer, wanting to prepare himself for whatever clinic the Crimson King had in store. Considering his earlier screw up, Leroy didn’t want to risk anything else being lost in generalities. Edited by BigGuava, Today, 7:36 AM.
