Christ, she hated Toronto.

Being from the Southern end of the continent, the Canadian weather was naturally the first thing to irk Ramona during her first-time visit to the town. She despised the cold, the uncomfortable chill against any exposed flesh, the way it impeded her running habits, and the fact it forced her to slap on so many damn awkward layers of clothing just to avoid freezing her tits off. The only 'plus' was that it was a smidge safer than her usual work trips. Not that the bar was set particularly high. Then again, Toronto was so annoyingly optimistic that Ramona just felt so much more annoyed by it. She knew she'd hate the damn place from the moment her employer had described it as 'cosmopolitan'. Ramona wasn't sure what that meant, but was pretty sure that nothing good could come out of being cosmo-fucking-politan.

In spite of all her apparent protests and complaints, Ramona Campana had still accepted the contract. Casual work with low-risk was hard to find in her profession. Her 'employer' was interested in stepping on some toes up North, infringing on the local market based out of the Great Lakes to stir things up a bit. So Ramona was working up here now in distribution, a temporary position but the work was easy and the pay was enough to get through the nights and days. The liquor and nightlife, though, was passable at best. Which wasn't too great when she needed the former to endure those damn accents. Hopefully, her next client would be less talkative.

The 'transporter', as she preferred to be called, had a few clients lined up for the day, which had called for an early start. Of course, she'd neglected to plan ahead for that, so when her phone's alarm went off early in the morning, Ramona's head was still pounding from the night before. And she wasn't quite sure whose apartment she was in. After a prompt exit and a greasy breakfast, Ramona Campana hit the town, heading to the designated drop-off points with all the delivered goods stored within her own body. It was a handy quirk for someone in her line of work.

The ever sour look on Ramona's face only got more agitated throughout her day, as a couple things got more and more obvious. First, it was fucking cold. Bitingly cold. The savoured every moment she spent indoors, which, unfortunately, meant she had to spend a bit more time talking to her clients. Secondly, police presence was higher than normal. There'd been some hectic shit recently or something. Ramona had to be a bit more careful in her runs, and spend a bit more time at each location to avoid drawing suspicion, try and disguise her motives. A Latino this far north looked out of place enough already, or so she presumed.

After a few careful drops, Ramona pulled out her phone to check her next stop. Written in her planner was a coded note for herself. 'Eggs - Corner of XXX Street - 1/4 Dozen - Micromanagement'. Not the most sophisticated of codes, but Ramona liked it. Made the job feel that bit more secure, even if it was an illusion. What it read was 'LSD - Corner of XXX Street - 3 Tabs - Micromanagement is the password.' One of them just needed to say it, the other to recognize it, and they'd know that was who they were looking for.

From what Ramona understood, this 'client' was on the wealthier side. Made her a little confused at his relatively small order, though. Her boss had passed it off that it was likely some workaholic using it small amounts for professional purposes. Apparently, it was all the rage among hard-working nerds who wanted that extra mental edge. Go figure.

Shifting down whatever alleys and side streets she could find, Ramona made her way to a street near the border of some of the lower socioeconomic areas in Toronto. Having some rich kid meet her up downtown would be a bit too suspicious, and he probably woulda gotten mugged. This location was better for someone who was presumably just dabbling. Plus, it meant that if worse came to worse, she could just pass herself of ass some sex worker. Hiding the goods was easy enough to do, after all.

Once Ramona came to the location she situated herself on the corner, leaning against it and crossing her arms. She didn't look particularly inviting, but the 'client' would know that the delivery person was somewhat horse-like, so she shouldn't have been too hard to pick out. Hopefully, they'd come soon, Ramona swore she could feel icicles forming on her face in this frosty-ass weather.

When Leo originally prepared to order a highly illegal drug he was thinking it would involve doing some smuggling himself across the great lakes. The cartel had blown away his expectations though. His package would go all the way to Toronto, the perfect weekend trip. All that the game developer had to bring along was his money and a light coat. Leo loved spring. The warming up, the rain, and according to statistics he had read it was the time people were most willing to spend money. Which meant he needed a new game to really hook people. Only problem was with the current games Leo was putting out events for, his creative juices had run dry.

So it was time to try drugs. Leo already used plenty of over the counter stuff, but he needed a real edge to make some money. With the cartel he contacted through mutual friends, picking up the LSD would be easy peasy. He had the address, the time, and even a description of the person he was picking it up from. Instead of driving himself, Leo elected to take a train from Quebec City to Toronto. Leaving early in the morning, he would arrive in the late afternoon.

From the station, Leo took a straightforward route to the meetup location. He was surprised it wasn't somewhere where fewer cops would be. But he trusted a professional dealer to know what they were doing. As he neared the point for the deal, Leo got on his phone and began talking to himself. As he had the made up conversation he put on an annoyed expression. Such a weird codeword needed some set up so it wasn't an obvious code word.

With the sun setting, Leo finally made it to the spot. According to the information he was given the person he was picking up the LSD from had some horse features. It took him a few minutes of standing there going on about some basic programming to himself to finally notice someone with the features. It wasn't that the streets were busy, but the chick was bundled up so much he couldn't tell what she looked like at first. So Leo walked towards the corner and let out a forced sigh of relief before putting his phone away. In a not so fake tired tone, he spoke aloud to himself. "Finally. Office still needs me to micromanage my team even on my days off, ugh."

She was right behind him, there was no way she would miss it unless she did so on purpose. Or if she couldn't understand his dialect. Though Leo prided himself on not letting the terrible french part of Quebec influence him too much. As he waited for the horse-girl to approach him for the deal Leo couldn't help but have a smug grin on his phase. Flawless acting on his part would mean nobody around would be any wiser.

While she waited for her delivery's receiver, Ramona glanced around the area, surveying it for anything that might put in her trouble. Rival gangs weren't a problem around here, the syndicates based out of the Great Lakes had something of an uneasy peace going on, so she wasn't about to risk getting caught up in a turf war unless she made it obvious she was selling on their grounds. And even if they did notice, Ramona was pretty certain she was safe from an immediate retaliation. The syndicates up there weren't impulsive or stupid, unlike their coastal counterparts. Maybe the cold weather kept them cool-headed. Either way, it meant they'd think twice about tryna stand up to the big bad cartel that was visiting their humble little area.

The other, greater concern was cops. Normally, the designated drop-off point would be a relatively safe zone. It was the kind of place only low-level deals went down at, which meant that the cops were a bit more hesitant to waste their time. The exceptions came when the pigs had to fill quotas, or like today's case, were on a higher state of alertness. The details eluded her, but Ramona was aware that some shit had gone down in Toronto recently, meaning the cops had to act like they were responding accordingly. Patrols were a bit more regular through the drop-off point, and although Ramona hadn't picked out any unmarked cars yet, she was still careful. Listening bugs were another possible issue. It was a slim chance, but not one Ramona was going to take. Hell, she'd heard of guys get caught from listening bugs hidden in damn soccer balls.

In spite of all the apparent complications, it was just another day and another job for Ramona Campana. As long as she got out of there fine, she'd consider it a win. Her client would, hopefully, not be a complete dumbass either, but if he got caught, it didn't affect her too much. Even if she got picked out or snitched, by the time the police caught on, she'd be back south of the border anyway. All in all, Ramona wasn't too worried about the job.

She kept her ears peeled for her client, watching the few vagrants and nobodies come and go before a man on a phone came by. It was a classic tactic to use it to drop the codeword, for clients who wanted to be extra sneaky about it. Usually the richer clients, too, so Ramona wasn't surprised to hear him utter the word he'd been given. It was a weird one, but well, Ramona's boss had a sense of humor.

"Can't catch a break either, huh?" Ramona would utter aloud, acting as though she was merely a nosy stranger. Her eyes glanced about. No patrol cars at the moment, not many people on the street, no probably unmarked vehicles. "I'm a workin' girl myself. Always on the clock, it seems. Always workin' my hardest just to keep shit organized." All this wasn't really necessary, but Ramona always felt a little bit of satisfaction in playing it up for the clients. It either annoyed them or made them super serious about it, either was fine by her.

She stepped up toward Leo with all the stride and pride of a 'working girl'. A fine cover in this part of town. "Sometimes, though, I feel like I gotta work even harder than I already do. Need a bit of a helping hand, you get me?" Ramona queried. On the very miniscule chance that this was a random civilian, this little spiel of hers would weed them out quickly enough. Now she just had to see how her little performance was recieved, all while forcing herself not to chuckle a little.
