Instead of sleeping, the blonde found himself spending most of his nights looking to the sky. Elysium was a place with very little infrastructure and artificial lighting. This allowed every star in the sky to shine brightly, a gift most people aren't able to see so freely. He'd find himself seeing his sister's face amongst the starry black cosmos, leaving him with a sensation of self-loathing and loneliness. Ever since the events of the war, Demetri locked himself away from everyone else. Seeing the seemingly unsurpassable gap in power between him and Mercutio caused the boy to question himself and his resolve. Was it even possible for him to achieve such heights? He swore to get his revenge, but time continued to pass and there was no progress to show for it. Laying on the back of Nala, Demetri turned his head towards the rising sun. "Least I got a few hours of sleep..." Sitting himself up, the blonde reflected on his time here on Elysium. When all the orphans were first brought here by Mercutio, everyone despised the man. With the events of Africa fresh in their minds, they were forced to battle one another until being thrust into a battle with the crimson fucker himself. A select few were chosen, one being Demetri, to join Mercutio's group Adrestia. Over time, that unanimous hatred for Mercutio degraded. Talks of family and friendship swayed those who were on edge, and the sins of the past seemed to had been forgotten for the sake of unity. The blonde was not looking for such relationships on this island. The family he had was gone, there was no replacing them for Demetri. His heart had always been closed off from the rest of the group. "I'm going to go," Demetri said to Nala, who appeared to be in a deep sleep. The sun now shined brightly as it hung directly above the island. Walking on the black sands of Alana, Demetri returned to the place where the orphans fought Mercutio. The ground still recovering from the barrage of energy based attacks. Even after all this time, there were still traces of the battle that took place. The blonde recalled the events quite vividly, well... up until the part where he was knocked out. During the chaos, Demetri approached Negen and Rosa in hopes of working together to defeat Mercutio. That was the first time he met the two siblings. Seeing them always reminded the blonde of his own sister. Though, the situation was reversed in these circumstances, as he was the younger sibling. This thought gave the boy a mental image of his old life. Looking to the rest of the surrounding scenery, the only thing Demetri could see was black sand and rocks for however far the island went. Back home in Cyprus, he was surrounded by greenery and vibrant colors. Here it was black and lifeless. No plants, no animals, nothing. "Hmm..." Taking a knee, Demetri grabbed a handful of the sand-like volcanic rock that made up the grounds of the islands. Recalling a book he had read in the past, the boy remembered that igneous rocks like this were rich in minerals, perfect for nurturing and ensuring healthy plant life. Inspired by the feeling of homesickness, Demetri began thinking about the logistics of attempting to cover the island in plant life, while continuing to examine the grounds. It had been a few days since Rosa had hurt her arm helping her brother with "training". It felt more like Mercutio just wanted them to do his dirty work. She knew he cared about them, but Rosa thought Negan might have been enjoying it too much. Killing people wasn't the problem it was how Mercutio wanted them to do so. There were so many bad people, why not go out to deal with them more often? As much as Rosa loved her brother and the people that stuck around at the mansion she needed to get fresh air. With only her sundress and a pair of mangos, she left the mansion without a word. With the mansion being too filled with people from Adrestia, the main town growing in the center of Alana was a no go too. The white-haired girl let out a small grumble before walking to towards the shore. Rosa still wasn't comfortable talking with many people and with Adrestia's reputation the odds of random people washing ashore from ships would be rarer than the already extremely low odds of it happening before. The rubber girl wandered without destination along the shore for about an hour before she felt her stomach growl. She had forgotten breakfast, but it was too early. Rosa was hoping to stay out of the mansion all day. Looking into the small sack she placed her fruit in, she frowned. In a whisper, Rosa spoke to herself, "I can't eat one yet." Continuing further down the shore with the occasional stomach growl, Rosa's pace slowed. Soon the girl stopped entirely when she was someone further ahead also by the shore. It had been awhile since she last saw him but she recognized Demetri. He was looking at the ground for some reason. As Rosa inched closer she remembered what the spot was. Where they had fought Mercutio. Negan and her had gotten stronger, but so had the man that took the lives of their parents. As her inching continued to bring her closer and closer, Rosa realized it was inevitable Demetri noticed her. That meant she would have to talk with him. She could do it. She could talk to someone else on her own. All she had to do was say something and not run away. It was up to her. Just her. On her own. Without Negan. Rosa's breathing picked up the pace and her face took on a light shade of red. All she had to do was say something, anything. Rosa closed her eyes before shouting over to the boy only a few meters away by that point. "H-Hello! I'm Rosa." Once she had shouted, Rosa opened her eyes slowly. At first, she started to raise a hand up into a fist. Then she remembered what Demetri was like. He was one of the few others that disliked Mercutio. Maybe he still did, unlike most of the others. Wanting to get on good terms with the older teen she held out the cloth sack she in his direction. Going to a much more normal volume, Rosa began to speak with only the occasional stutter. "Would y-you like a mango? I only have two but you can have one if you are hungry. And um... If you d-don't mind me asking what are you doing out here?" |

Demetri wondered what the other Adrestia members had been up to in the time he had spent away from everyone. Word of Fusion-Ha’s accomplishments in America had spread across the island. The Negen and Rosa’s power to fuse was a shock when the blonde first met the two. It was clear that when together, they were on a level of their own compared to the rest of the orphans. But to be able to defeat an infamous villain such as Kull? It was beyond Demetri’s expectations. The teen sighed as he stood back up and released the black sand from his hand. If the Taylors and Demetri ever had to fight, he was sure to be outmatched in his current state... Though, before he could get too deep into this thought, he noticed something moving in the corner of his eye. “...!” Rosa appeared out of nowhere, shouting, as she walked towards the blonde. “Hmm?” The girl seemed to struggle to get the words from her mouth. Her face turned beet red and, despite the volume, there was a meek stutter to her introduction. “Hello.” Why was she all the way over here? Didn’t she have a mansion to spend her time in? Also, they already knew each other’s names, why was she introducing herself like they were strangers? “Demetri,” he responded. The last thing he expected was to be offered a mango from the girl. “Hmmm… Sure,” he said as he reached and grabbed the fruit. The teen was able to tell that her offer was genuine and that she was unlikely to be attempting anything underhanded. Especially since she already seemed to struggle so much even approaching him. “Thank you.” Demetri took a bite from the fruit before deciding to answer Rosa’s question. He was pleased by the sweet and juicy flavor it brought to his mouth. A content smile formed on his face to reflect this. “I enjoy walking. It’s always been something that’s helped clear my mind.” He’d take another bite before continuing on. “And you?” The blonde continued to eat the fruit, as he waited for Rosa’s answer. |

Rosa didn't expect him to give his name too. She just blurted out her name without thinking since they hadn't talked much before. Offering the fruits went well though as the older boy took the fruit and even smiled. Rosa smiled back, though left the other mango in the bag. Eating could wait. Her stomach was uneasy enough at the moment she didn't want to risk eating anything. The girl was starting to feel like she could handle the social interaction, then Demetri asked her a question. There was no reason to lie about why she left the mansion for once. But Rosa wasn't used to explaining things to people that weren't Negan, at least not while fused. She had to be strong though. Negan couldn't talk for her all the time so she needed to not freeze up. The hand on her bad arm gripped her own dress tightly as she took a moment to organize her thoughts. Demetri would be quite a few bites into his fruit before Rosa was able to collect her thoughts enough to speak. "I umm... I wanted some space." Rosa stopped to glance back in the direction of the mansion before continuing. "Lots of people stay there now. Too noisy in my room. Around my room! Not in my room. Only I go in my room." The girl's explanation quickly deteriorated from somewhat calm to frantically trying to make sure the situation was explained properly. In her rush to tell Demetri about why she left, Rosa held up her hands without thinking. Causing her to wince and drop the sack the other mango was in. When the bag hit the ground Rosa stopped trying to speak. Her expression changed from nervous to melancholic. The white-haired teen slowly bent down and picked the bag back up with her good hand. Though she didn't bother rising from her position close to the ground. Rosa's long hair fell over her face, blocking her view of the blond boy. She couldn't look at him. It didn't make sense for it to be so difficult to talk to people. She stood up for Negan before to some of the scariest people in the world. Why couldn't she just talk normally to others? With nowhere else to go but up, Rosa spoke slowly while still facing the ground. "Sorry if I'm ruining your quiet time. I hope the Mango was good..." Rosa's speaking trailed off as she mumbled even more. After a second she looked up to see the other Adrestian's reaction. She didn't remember Demetri being one of the angrier people, but people changed so much on Elysium. The feeling of emptiness in her stomach was starting to become too much for Rosa though. She hadn't gone so long without eating, even if it hadn't actually been that long. She could still recover things. It wasn't too late to speak up. Mustering the courage from facing literal and figurative monsters, Rosa spoke as clearly as she could manage. "Do you mind if I eat here too? I haven't eaten yet today." For once the girl managed to speak without mumbling, trailing off, stuttering. It may had been on the quiet side, but the words came out without any trouble. |
