Ever since his visit with Logan and the mission, Atticus had been busy trying to figure out the next step in his plan. His time in prison was spent concocting a plan to get back the money taken from him before he was arrested, the only way to do this was to screw over Logan. There was hope that he could charm his way into being Logan's buddy or whatever, but that was not going to happen at this point. The way he saw it, Logan was too much of a hardass, it would be a waste of time trying to get in his good graces. April, his secretary, he could always have her in his pocket, but she wasn't in a close enough position to where he could use her to get his way. One thing he did find out was that Logan had cameras in his room, to which he would have to deal with Logan now knowing that he was up to something. It sucked, but that wasn't going to exactly get in his way. No, he had to figure out another way and that meant finding someone else. Who else for that to be then the Governor's right hand, his assistant. A female that was not that much younger than he was, and from what he found on her, she didn't have that much in a criminal record that he could exploit. She was overall a good girl, which was not surprising if Logan hired her. A square hiring the goody-goody type, how typical. Nonetheless, this goody-goody was going to be a key figure in his plan and that meant he would have to figure a way to get in her good graces. Rather this was as a friend or lover, that didn't matter. Having someone keep an eye on her movements for two weeks, he would learn that she visited the grocery store every Wednesday at a specific set time. Well, that and a bar, but he found the grocery store to be a better environment for him to paint himself in the best light. Dressing up in a pair of jeans, a dark red hoody, a black hat, and a pair of black shades, the best way he was going to do this was by making sure he wasn't easily recognized in public. This wasn't his first time doing something of this variety, especially when it came to shopping. Making way to the very same grocery store that Skogul visited, he made sure to arriving a few minutes ahead of the normal time she arrived at the store, he would move around, put some groceries in his basket first before doing anything that could be seen as suspicious. Spotting her down a hall, he put himself in the right mood and motioned his way down the aisle to one of the supplies that were opposite of the shelf she was currently picking from. Grabbing the first thing he saw, he would look around for a moment as if he was looking for an employee before turning to face the girl's direction. "Excuse me, sorry to bother you. I was curious if you ever used this product before? I was looking for something different from what I usually use, wanted to know if this was the better product." He asked while keeping an innocent expression. OOC

There was something about keeping to a routine that felt very rewarding to a woman like Skögul. Just being able to do the same thing every week meant that life was just going a-okay. The only complaint the girl had was that she had to do most of her running around after work as opposed to before, since most places generally weren't open before seven in the morning... that, and Skögul was confident that if she didn't go to make sure he was awake, Logan would be late for work every second or third day. So, after leaving her workplace around five, Skögul had made her way directly home to get changed into something a bit more comfortable before heading off to the grocery store, just like she did every Wednesday. Her shopping list for the day wasn't that big as opposed to last week, where she'd needed to replace almost every item in her abode. Some apples, some bathing supplies, some meat, bread, milk, and of course the all important coffee. She didn't want to try and think what a morning would be like if she didn't start it off with a nice cup of coffee. Granted, she could make some at work, but the brand they kept on hand was always just so... terrible. It never settled right, and there always seemed to be grounds left over that were a horrible to find mid drink. Shuddering a little bit, Skögul would grab her hygenic products frst before moving on to the aisle where she knew they kept their liquid gold. She was fairly pleased to find that, not only did they have her favorite brand in stock, it was also on sale! Double bonus! Eagerly grabbing it and placing it into her basket, Skögul's attention would be pulled toward a man stating an inquiry to her. She paid attention to what he had to say while taking in his appearance at the same time. A simple pair of jeans, a dark red hoodie, black hat, and of all things, a pair of black shades. While Skögul would give the man a friendly smile, she knew something was off with the man. Sure, he was dressed somewhat for the winter, what with the hoodie and the hat (though Skögul preferred to wear a toque), but sunglasses? At five in the afternoon? During winter? She'd seen more sensible people as Grimm. "I can't say I've ever tried Jaxwell coffee before, but one of my coworkers can't get enough of the stuff, so it can't be all that bad right? If you're looking to try something new, I'd always recommend Rolger's coffee, but that's a little bit of a biased opinion since I drink it all the time, and I've heard Lesnafé is a good brand as well... just be sure to stay away Masitto and all the insant coffee brands. Some of them don't break down well in the water, so you always get some grounds left over. Oh, and if you do end up trying Rolger's, try it with three cubes of sugar, some cream, and a dash of milk! Makes it taste absolutely divine!" With that, Skögul would give the man a sweet smile as she moved on, aiming to head to the meat department in order to pick up some food. She still hadn't decided if she wanted to pick up chicken, pork, or beef. She'd picked up chicken last time, and had absolutely loved it, but wasn't sure if she wanted to grab it again or try something else. |

The question given was rather simple and rather generic, but he just needed a way of introducing himself so that he could be able to build upon that later on. It was a simple plan, really, and it works well for most. In fact, he's used it more than once and each time was a success. He hoped for the same with the woman in question, but he had high hopes as he was very much interested in making sure she was comfortable around him. Grabbing the first thing he saw, he turned to ask the woman if it was a good product to switch too. Curious about her response, he was happy that the girl was nice enough to be able to give him an actual answer. In fact, she went even further by giving her own suggestions which allowed him to use later on. Once she was finished expressing everything, she would flash a nice smile and give a few kind words to which he would meet with his own smile as a show of appreciation. "Thank you very much, you've given me a lot to think about." As she began to take off, he flashed a quick look at her list to see if he can get an idea as to where she was heading next. Catching one example, he decided to go with that as he turned to place back the coffee he asked her about and grabbed the one she suggested. Alright, let's keep this show on the road, have to move on to the next phase of this plan. Moving quickly to the meat aisle, he took out his phone from his pocket and began to slowly move about to eye the product in question. Starting up a conversation on his phone, he decided to make sure he didn't come off like an idiot as it was easy to fake a phone call. Calling his mother, he would lean his side against his basket as he waited for her to answer. "Hey... Atticus, it's me, mom? Atti-cus... Noatak... Yeah, you know, the only son you have." Exhaling slowly, he rubbed his temples for a second before continuing with the conversation. "Just calling to check on you. Currently in the meat section of the store so I thought of my mother, the master chef. Anyways, I wanted to know about that dish you made last... Christmas? Yeah, Christmas. The one with the pork... or was it sausage? Pork, I thought so. Well, I was thinking about possibly making it, just needed the ingredients. Think you can send it to me? You know my memory is crap. Yes, mam... Yes, mam... I'm fine, mom, just been trying to keep busy. Yeah... Yeah, I know. I mean, I'm having fun, nothing wrong with that and you know the tabloids just lie. No, I promise... Yeah, I hear you. I promise, no more playboy tabloid bull crap. Send me the ingredients, please and thank you. Yeah, I will... See you soon." Hanging up his phone, he did his best to keep his voice, while keeping it vocal enough for Skögul to hear. At this point, he felt as if he planted enough hints for her to get an idea that he was at least someone that has been in the spotlight. He didn't see her as someone that would care, but that was fine. His goal was to get her curious, make her wonder who he was as he felt his appearance had already caught her attention enough as is. Gazing back at the meat in front of him, he would casually look about before raising a gaze to see her in the distance. "Long time no see." He joked with a warm smile before picking up the pack of pork to give it a look. |

As Skögul continued her own internal debate about which meat she should choose, a familiar voice crept up beside her, once she'd heard literally a few moments ago. Looking to her side showed the exact same person that had asked for her suggestion on coffee, now chatting on a phone with what was apparently his mother. She didn't pay the man much mind, though she'd admit it was not easy to tune out his conversation due to where he was. While she continued to struggle in deciding what kind of product she'd like, there were a few choice bits that stuck out in her mind in terms of his conversation. Particularly the name Atticus. The name was familiar, though Skögul couldn't quite place a finger on why that was. He mentioned something about 'playboy tabloid bull crap' that made her think he might have been an actor or something, but she didn't remember hearing of any scandals as of late involving any celebrities by the name of Atticus. "Long time no see." Skögul's thoughts would come to an end as the man spoke up to her, flashing her a smile as he picked up a package of pork to look it over. The woman gave him a quick and friendly smile as a return, though for now, she'd say nothing as she picked up a package of beef, looking it over. A part of her wanted to question the man about his identity... though another part was suspicious about what was now two run-ins with such a strange looking person. Surely such a thing in such a short span of time wasn't just a sheer coincidence, right? Regardless, her friendlier side would win the argument of what to do, and she'd respond to the man's greeting in kind. "Nice to see you again. I'm sorry to admit such a thing, but I'm afraid I overheard some rather choice bits from your phone call just now. Was kind of hard not too, really... Though I do have to ask, do I... know you from somewhere? I heard your name was Atticus, and it seems familiar, but I can't quite place a finger on it... Care to lend a lost girl a hand?" Skögul would watch the man's reaction closely as she placed a package of beef into her own basket, readjusting her stance to get more comfortable. She had a feeling she'd be talking to the man for a while, so no point in remaining hunched over various assorted meats while she did so. Edited by Hal, Jun 24 2018, 09:19 AM.

Hmm, I could have been a bit hasty with ending up here at the same time. I should have waited a bit longer, let it be a bit more of a coincidence. Oh well, we'll see what happens. He thought to himself while keeping his view stuck on the array of meats before him. Bringing his thumb and finger to his chin, he began to judge on what form of meat he should go with. Picking up a pack of pork, he looks to his left and would turn his neck again as he attempted to act surprised by the sight of Logan's assistant. Putting his acting skills to the test, he had to be careful with his body posture and mannerism. He couldn't tell if the girl was suspicious of him or not. He couldn't waste much time analyzing the girl's expressions or actions, there were other matters he had to focus on at the moment. "Interested in some pork? Or as I like to call it, Almost bacon?" He joked a bit while raising the pack of pork up in front of his face. Noticing the girl's expression, he lowered the pack and look back down to the packs of meat while the girl began to speak. "Oh?" He mouthed as the girl admitted to hearing his conversation. Appearing to be slightly surprised, he continued to move about picking the best pack of meat for his meal. Listening to her as she spoke, he didn't look to her yet, he began to look over his shoulder a bit. With no one in the vicinity, he looks back to the girl with slight concern. As she finished, he let the silence take over for a moment while he ran his hand along the packs of meat. "Ugh, yeah... Guess I was a bit of a big mouth, hahaha. Ugh, yeah, I'm not surprised." Being a bit secretive about it, he removed his glasses and hat to reveal his face to the girl. "Atticus Soul, the former Governor, please to meet you... again. Yeah, sorry about that. Ever since I got out of prison, I've sort of develop this playboy image in front of the paparazzi, makes normal living difficult. So I go out in disguise, which either works or fails horribly. Never know, honestly..." He explained while leaning back a bit against his basket. "If you're not big into politics, you probably heard of the Governor that was fired and arrested for a money laundering scheme... Not the best thing to be remembered by, but have to live with all your faults, I say. He expressed before turning to add the pack of pork to his basket. |

Skögul would listen as the man spoke, raising an eyebrow at his... joke? Was it some kind of attempt at a joke? If it was, it was a pretty poor attempt, but Skögul would listen as he explained who he was. An act that caused Skögul's brow to furrow and her smile to fade. She knew very well about the Governor General that was imprisoned for money laundering. Hell, she'd considered placing the man on Grimm's hit list before, but had decided against it due to it being an issue she herself had with the man, rather then him doing something that could have warranted him a place on said list. The fact that the man seemed to treat what he'd done as if it wasn't a horrible thing to have done was not helping that decision. "So that's why your name sounded so familiar. The man who essentially turned his back on his own nation to pursue personal wealth: Atticus Soul." Whereas she had been prepared for a comfortable conversation, now Skögul stood straight again, making sure her body language displayed her annoyance. Of course, her frown could probably have conveyed that. "The fact that they let you out of prison is an amazing thing in and of itself, but if the paparazzi has decided to turn you into a playboy, then this world we live in must truly have been turned upside down. Let me ask you something, did you even feel bad about what you did? Or about how much damage you've done? We aren't exactly in the best place economically, so who knows... a good answer might make me want to punch you less." It was a rare day when Skögul Odiana got angry with someone. Beyond the times where she needed to masquerade as Grimm, she generally tried her best to be upbeat and positive, even in the worst of times. Hell, someone had tried mugging her before in Toronto and she'd started up a nice chat with them, asking how their day was and how their life was going. Now she had a pen pal in Toronto that mugged people for a living. Life was weird that way... But Atticus? Skögul was having a hard time trying to find anything nice about a man that, while in charge of an entire nation, had done nothing but make himself a profit behind the curtain. If he hadn't been discovered, then Logan wouldn't have gotten the job, and if he hadn't been placed into the position of Governor General... The raven haired woman let loose an involuntary shudder as the thought crossed her mind that she could have potentially worked under Atticus. |

Adjusting his disguise a bit, he was curious to see how the girl reacted to it all. She worked for Logan, that really wasn't a good sign for him as Logan had a personality that Atticus could not agree with whatsoever. In fact, he found the man to be bout boring as all hell. While a part of him wanted to get his payback against this government, doing it by fucking with Logan wouldn't have brought much excitement. The way he saw it since having the mission, this was going to end in a fight between the two of them. While Atticus was confident in his skills, Logan could pull rank and get him arrested again... Hmm, is doing all of this worth the risk of having to go back to jail? Besides, I thought acting would be a lot of fun, but... fuck, she's not even my type. Ugh, I'm already down the rabbit hole, might as well keep it up. He thought to himself while keeping his focus on the conversation. Going off her reaction, he could already see the judgment in her eyes. Almost the very same eyes that Logan had, the two were cut from the same cloth and that just annoyed the hell out of Atticus. Hell, even the first bit of words out her mouth were nothing more than her judging him... "I wouldn't say that now..." Was his response as he did his best to sound and appear sad by her words. In actuality, he really didn't care. Yeah, he was in a money laundering scheme, so the fuck what? After all the good he did for this fucking company, he felt he was owed more than what they were giving monthly. If that made him a bad person, then oh well, he had no shame about his actions. Allowing her to say all that she needed to do, he held his head down and listened. Nodding slowly, he ran his thumb against the point of his nose three times while breathing in through his nose. His gaze drifted to the lower right, not that the woman could actually see. Once she was finished he continued to stay silent for a bit while not looking the woman in the eyes. A part of him wanted her to punch him, that was hot, but he had to keep up with this character he had going for himself. "Man, you sound like my mom right now... haha. But... yeah, to answer your question, I feel bad. I... I didn't want this for myself. It's just... it's hard to explain." Pausing for a moment, he inhaled and held it for a bit before exhaling to speak once again. "If I tell you this, I ask that you keep this between us, please... The reason I was involved in that crime, the reason why I turned my back against this country, I had no choice. When I was younger, I fell into a bad crowd. When I started interning for the offices and turning my life around, I cut ties with them. I thought everything was fine, they were fine with it. However, once I rose to power, they began to contact me through threats. I could have fought them, brought in the cops, but their members were immense and if all of them were not captured, my parents, my family, their lives would have been at risk. My family is everything to me, they're all I have. As much as I wanted to uphold my position, my integrity, as much as I wanted to do as much good as I can for this country... I couldn't risk it... I couldn't even step down from my position, it was the very lowest point of my life... I don't think I'll ever be able to live it down, honestly. I have this playboy persona, but that's only because I put up a front. I drink to drown my sorrows, my shame, as I will go about my life always being known as the man that turned his back on this country. I still get death threats, which is fine, but it's just... I don't know. Fuck..." Turning, he was doing well to keep up the act while he raised his glasses to rub his arm through his eyes. Damn, I'm good... He thought to himself while turning back to face Skogul. "I apologize, your words hit harder than I thought they would... If you still want to punch me, feel free to do so..." He spoke while giving her the opening to do so. |
