All things considered, Christina's first day of school had gone rather well. Their teacher had been very friendly and enthusiastic, the sort who genuinely wanted his students to learn and grow. As long as it involved any and all things capable of combustion, that is. Regardless, the pyromaniac professor had been very effective in his teachings, their first lesson consisting primarily of the most basic of basics of villainous pyrotechnics: The Molotov. A simple tool, and now, one that Christi felt she could confidently utilize in the field if she ever needed to do so. It'd need practice first, of course, but fortunately, Christina already had a particularly volatile fuel in the works that would be ideal for practice. Assuming it wasn't currently burning down her dorm room, that is. Some people accidentally left their stove on when they left the house. Christina Annemarie Marlen Heidrun von Grimmselshausen left her experiments running. One of which was currently at risk of starting an unintended act of arson that could damage her other projects! Naturally, the Germanic girl was in a bit of a hurry, and had rushed out of class at the earliest opportunity to ensure that did not happen. It was a good thing she'd brought her Frostkanone with it, given it might prove a capable firefighting tool in a pinch. And it wasn't exactly like Christi could ask anyone else for help, either. So far the two people she knew at the school - her teacher and only other classmate - possessed fire wielding quirks anyway! And her sole classmate was a bit of a stuck up bitch too. As Christina ran past the gym on the way to her dorm, she couldn't help but lament the fact she'd never gotten to combat the Japanese girl. It would've been devilishly delightful making her eat her words, and an unhealthy dosage of the cryogenic compound. Time was running short, so Christi picked up the pace, her lab coat flapping behind her as she ran past the gym, rounding a corner by the connected showers. Only the briefest of thoughts passed through her mind in regards to the fact that other classes might be finishing up around now, but the girl hadn't foreseen any of them possibly being in the gym area at that time. Let alone him. It was a tragically unoriginal affair. Christina rounded a corner while checking her watch, and then, a crash. Well, more like a thud, one that took all of Christi's momentum and had her fall back flat on her ass. It didn't take a scientist to realize what had happened. "A-Ah, entschuldig-" She began, glancing up at the boy she'd bumped into as she got to her feet, only for her words to be suddenly stolen right from her throat. She never imagined evidence of something as unscientific as fate would fall right into her lap. |

Joshua closed his eyes as he felt the warm waters streaming down his body. The running water soothed his aching muscles from the intense sparring he had just a few moments ago. He sighed in relief as he could let go of the tension of the first day in this villain school. He ran his hands through his hair, making sure that he was cleaning every part of his body. As he brought his hands away from his hair, he couldn’t help but touch his face. His brows furrowed as he felt the burnt skin scarring his face. He felt his hand tighten into a fist as he thought of the flames that left this scar on his face. The scar was a constant reminder of his mistakes and weaknesses. Just feeling it instilled him with anger, frustration, and disappointment in himself. He had so many opportunities to avoid the flames and perform better, yet he just rushed head first into something he couldn’t handle. He was careless and he made a mistake, and he paid for it. Still, he couldn’t help but feel ashamed of his appearance. He could only imagine the people back home feeling pity every time they look at him. They would see him and see the poor burn victim. Even the people he knew would keep that thought in the back of their mind. His mind continued down this train of thought as he saw the faces of all his friends and family members staring at him, pitying him. He hated it. He saw the faces of his closest friends from his old school, he saw the faces of his cousins, he saw the faces of his parents, then he saw her face. He didn’t want her to see him like that. That was the one upside of being away from home though, there was no way for them, for her, to see him like that. Still, he was afraid to show it to anyone back home. He decided to just focus on the water instead. The calming droplets that were streaming down his body. Of course, after a few seconds his mind drifted away once more. This time, he thought about his first class earlier today. He honestly had no clue what to expect of a villain class. This was a school that would teach them to be better villains, making them better at breaking rules. He thought the class would be chaotic and dangerous, but he was pleasantly surprised. His teacher, Ms. Ignacia, was actually very nice and casual. If she wasn’t teaching here, he wouldn’t have guessed that she was a villain. She even set up some rules for all of them to follow, which made him think that even villains need some form of order. She was the type of villain that Joshua might aspire to be. Then, his mind drifted to his classmates. He had three classmates in his class, Murano, Phoebe, and Brent. At first glance, Murano didn’t seem to stand out too much. The only feature that would stand out was the obsidian gauntlet she was always wearing. However, there was more to her than meets the eye. First of all, her gauntlet was actually a part of her body that allowed her to make weapons out of the same obsidian. Second of all, she came from a long line of villains and killers, and she strives to continue that legacy. Surprisingly though, she was really nice. Also very very strong. Next was Phoebe, the ball girl. She always seemed kind of mean, so he didn’t really talk to her at all. Not much to say about her. Lastly, Brent, the fire boy who burnt his face. He was pretty quiet so Joshua didn’t really talk to him, not that he wanted to anyway. He just avoided him for the whole first class, and he hoped to do the same for the rest of the classes today. Overall, he was happy with his first class. Now that he was done with his shower thoughts, he decided to finish his shower. He grabbed a towel and dried off. Afterwards, he changed into some casual clothes for the rest of his break, just a plain shirt and jeans. Once that was done, he decided to head out of the showers. He turned the corner to head back to his dorm room when someone suddenly ran into him, knocking both of them to the ground. ”What the-“ It was all he could say before he saw her. Christi. His eyes widened. Could she really be here too? Then he heard her voice, and his doubts went away. She was actually here, right in front of him. He didn’t know what to say, he was at a loss for words. Then he realized that she could see his scar. His heart was racing. He felt so much joy, but he also felt fear and shame. He just tried his best to cover his scar with his hands. |

Against all conventions of probability and the inherent stupidity of a concept like fate, he was here. Joshua Smith. The plain-looking boy with the messy brown hair and kind eyes, a visage unmistakable to Christina. A face she remembered well, whether she intended to or not. Her whole body froze up, soft blue eyes fixated on him, but seeing nothing. Every conceivable excuse ran through Christina's head, that this was an illusion of some sorts, or a hallucination brought about by exposure to the chemicals in her laboratory. Maybe she was merely in some kind of dream state. Maybe this was another part of the examinations by Yoshizawa. Contrary to everything the young mad scientist knew, she was beginning to doubt the reality before her. But the way her heart pounded in her chest was far too real, far too distinctly familiar for this to be anything but a wondrous truth. "J...Joshua..." She whispered softly, the name like honey on her soft lips. Lightning seemed to streak across her skin, up her neck, as slowly her expression unfroze. Memories flooded through her, and as did the odd sensations they brought. This was him, the boy she'd met. The boy who'd given her the best damn party of her life. The boy who'd danced with her so carelessly. The boy who'd been enraptured by her, who'd seen something in her that wasn't to be despised or feared, but admired. The boy who, whether he knew it or not, helped to break down the wall between Christina's logic and her emotions. The boy with whom she'd run away into the night, only to lose in the madness. The boy with whom she'd... She'd shared her first kiss... It seemed like Christina suddenly remembered how to emote again, as that memory prompted her jaw to drop slightly as her face took on a lovely scarlet hue. This was the boy who had introduced her to some unfamiliar, frightening, disconcerting, and extremely interesting sensations, or rather, feelings. And since they'd last seen each other, Christi had come no closer to even beginning to understand those feelings. All she could do was rely on a certain little mask of hers. "Ny...Nyahaha!" She suddenly burst it in faux and unconvincing maniacal laughter, her true feelings betrayed by her shaky expression and a deep blush. "Z-Z-Zis is quite ze twist of fate, i-i-is it not?" She stammered out, sitting on the ground and resting her arms on her knees. The girl's legs felt too weak to stand up, as unfamiliar 'sensations' continued to flood her. There was a lump in her throat and a stinging in her eyes, but she continued on. "S-So, vhat are you doing h-here?" She queried, before immediately realizing what a stupid question that was to ask. He was an agent of chaos like her, of course, it made sense that he'd turn up at a fake 'correctional' academy. "E-Ehm, no, zat v-vas stupid question... Ehm... Hm..." The girl internally scolded herself over and over for not thinking of a damn thing to say! There was so much she wanted to articulate to him, so many things she felt that only she knew only he could address, but not a single word came to mind. She just remained there, a stuttering mess as her usually logical mind tried to dismantle this illogical situation. All the while, her bright eyes gazed into Joshua, finding herself unable to look away... And noticing something peculiar... He was covering his eye, but behind it... Was that... Scar tissue? And then, right away, the possibility that he'd been scarred sent entirely new surges of confusion and intense 'sensation' through Christina, yet words continued to fail her. But beneath all her frustration, there was one single emotion Christina thought she could identify within her, one that overshadowed all the others in that present moment. Something simple and stupid, utterly boring. "Happiness" |

Joshua felt a jolt of heat pulse all throughout his body. It was the same heat he felt that night, the night of the best party he ever attended. The night he met the girl of his dreams and had the guts to actually kiss her, his first kiss. It felt like it was a fever dream, an impossibility somehow made possible. The night went way too perfectly for the chaotic pair, so karma hit them at the end of the night. Flashes of red and blue lights, running through the dark alleyways together, and then he let go of her hand. Just like that, Christi was taken away from him. He searched for her around the city every single night afterwards. He called everyone at that party who could possibly know her, yet none of them knew her. He thought that he would never see her again, so he decided to try to move on. He thought he could but everyday his mind was assaulted with thoughts of her and what could have been. Weeks later, they run into each other in a secret school for villains. It seemed improbable, or even completely impossible for them to actually meet each other here. Then again, they were both very chaotic individuals, and this was supposed to be a juvenile center. Maybe she was arrested that night. No, she was too smart for that. Perhaps she was sent here by her parents. That’s how he got here. Still, he wasn’t sure if she was actually real. Maybe it was his mind playing tricks on him or a realistic hallucination. There was no way she could really be here, right? Then he heard her laugh. His heart skipped a beat. There was no doubt about it. It was Christi. He would always remember that beautiful sound. Her laughter lit up all of his senses, causing that warm feeling deep inside of him to ignite into a blazing fire. This laugh was a little different though, almost as if it was more forced than usual. Still, the fact that she was as shaken up as he was was comforting. She started stuttering out words, trying to think of what to say on the fly. It was adorable, she was adorable. Joshua felt his worries melt away into the fire welling up inside of him. She asked what he was doing here before quickly scolding herself, saying that her question was stupid. He knew that she was shaken up right now. He had to do something. Without a single doubt or second thought, he walked up to her. She was still sitting on the ground. He kneeled in front of her and brushed her hair aside. ”It’s really nice to see you again, Christi. My brilliant scientist.” He said with a smile as he stared into her eyes. He found himself lost in her eyes, completely forgetting his troubles and worries in them. All that was left was the two of them again, just like in the party. He even forgot about his scar, removing his hand entirely. He had no idea how she would react to it but he didn’t care anymore. All that mattered was that they were here, together. |

No matter how much she ran the numbers and probabilities in her head, Christina couldn't make sense of this encounter. The brilliant mad scientist was utterly confounded by the miraculous mathematics that went behind their impossible reunion. They were both veritably villainous, but far from the only mischievous teens who might be 'scouted' by this correctional academy. Of the countless rebellious teens out there, to think that they two would both end up here, literally crashing into one another like some force compelled them toward each other. It seemed unnatural, yet over time Christi began to accept there might be something tangible, scientific, undeniable, that had brought them together. A force not unlike gravity. A force that made up for the mistakes of that night, when they'd parted so foolishly. Such a simple thing, she'd run one way and he the other. Such a simple thing, now counteracted by such a complicated and powerful force. Christina wondered if she could blame this 'gravity' for the powerful 'sensations' that surged through her, leaving her face a scarlet hue and her eyes wide with wonder as she felt the joy wash over her in waves. Her eyes remained transfixed upon his scar, the only detriment to the current happiness she felt. How had he gotten it? Had someone one this to him? The latter thought inspired a feeling Christina was much more familiar with and understanding of. But just as that ire began to rise up, it was washed away by tides of bewilderment and affection as Joshua came closer to her. Brilliant blue eyes stared into his as a hand brushed aside her hair, his touch like lightning against her skin. Her heart skipped a beat, before hammering louder than ever. An internal percussion behind the melody of Joshua's voice, reminding Christi just what their relationship was. She was a his scientist, and he... "Mein Monster..." She uttered softly, her mind no longer in control. Her hand moved to Joshua's own face without a thought, and as she touched his cheek, feeling him there, it all suddenly became so much more real. She remembered that night even more vividly, and felt an instinct urging her to recreate that same feeling. Her body moved forward, swift and smooth, as she pressed her lips against Joshua's, just like that night. As she leaned back from kiss, already she felt her face heating up and turning red, as she wondered what on Earth she was doing. But she didn't care, she was doing what the hell wanted to, even if she didn't know why. Her fingers traced along Joshua's scar, still so curious about, and much more. "Ve... Should talk, ja?" Christi uttered simply, feeling awkward and vulnerable once more, and thus, responding the best way she knew how. "Nyu... Nyufufufu..." A mad scientist should laugh when faced with madness, after all. And there was nothing more mad then the 'gravity' she felt. |

Joshua stared into Christi’s soft, blue eyes. They were so deep, like an ocean. He found himself lost in her eyes, searching for the mysteries hidden behind them. Her voice seemed to echo through his mind, setting his senses ablaze. “Meine Monster”, the words that she said to him that night. She uttered those same words once more, her gentle and beautiful voice lit up his world. He couldn’t resist her. He felt her warm breath on his skin, sending shivers down his spine. His face kept heating up, turning a deep shade of scarlet red in response to her’s. She reached out and touched his face. Her hand felt so soft and so... real. It seemed so impossible for them to be here right now, he almost thought it was a longing dream. Suddenly, she pushed forward and her lips pressed against his. Joshua’s eyes widened, surprised for only a moment. He immediately pushed back and kissed her with a burning passion. The heat between the two of them was so intense, Joshua could only compare it to the fire’s that surrounded him as he got that scar. This intense passion reminded him of the party, the blaring music, the terrified masses, it was so chaotic. Being there with her though, it was like finding the eye of the hurricane. When he was with her, all the chaos seemed to make sense. It was like she was order in chaos, something so opposite yet so similar. As she pulled away from the kiss, Joshua couldn’t help but smile. He was happy, as if all his worries and doubts were washed away. Just like in the party, the whole world revolved around the two of them and nothing else mattered. Joshua didn’t care for the scar on his face, nor did he care for the school he was stuck in, all he cared about was being here with her. He felt their heartbeats sync up once more, as fate decided to intertwine their destinies here. Fate was similar to chaos, unknowable, unpredictable, and undefinable. Fate was random, yet it decided to bring these two agents of chaos back together. Perhaps there was something fate has planned for them, or maybe it was just another random outcome that fate decided. He felt her fingers running through his burnt skin, no doubt curious about the massive scar. She asked if they should talk and delivered her signature laugh. Joshua smiled and took her hand with his. He made sure to hold on tight, he would not lose her again, never again. ”Definitely.” He said with a lovestruck look in his eyes. He locked eyes with her again, his hazel eyes sparkling with a passion. ”So, where do you want to go?” He said curiously, countless possibilities running through his mind. Most of them were impossible though, since they were stuck on an island. Still, it was nice to think of all the places they could’ve gone. |
