”That’s the stuff,” groaned a man, his cold voice rasping against the rusted floors. His eyes were closed in ecstasy, relishing the taste of something. A wisp of vapour leaked out from his mouth as he talked, forming from the freezing cold air. It was just barely visible, dimly lit by the few overhanging lights which were far above the man’s head in this giant room. Letting out a sigh, his head rested against his metal chair - although it would be more accurate to describe it as a throne. A large metal throne, too big for the average man to fill. He remained seated there as time passed on, motionless like a corpse, long bony arms stretched out and resting on the armrests, eyelids lazily resting down. And yet, even as his eyes were closed, if one was there; they wouldn’t be able to shake an inescapable feeling. As if something was looming there, in the dark, watching in quiet from behind that giant throne, waiting.

”Here ya’ are,” said a jubilant old man, turning his head back as he did. He was sitting at the driver's seat, controlling the small shabby bus as it tumbled on forwards. Lifting his foot off the pedal, the bus let out a squeal of relief and stopped. The engine quiet, the cheery pop music from his radio flooded into his ears. "Doo doo dooo do," he hummed under his breath, putting the bus into park. They’d been driving up an inclining hill for a while, finally reaching the peak after half an hour. And just there at the top, not far away from where they’d stopped, was a sight not many would ever see.

A massive circular vault door, thick metal all the way through. It was big enough to fit a damn house through. The opening jutted out of the side of a mountain, right at its base. Just a week ago, this bus wouldn’t have even been able to near the area. But that was a week ago, and since then things had changed. As it was, the door was wide open, swung to one side as light shined into the abandoned interior.

”That there’s the only entrance,” the bus driver said, pushing a lever and opening the bus’ door. There were 4 people in the bus, all of which looked to be a bizarre crowd. With one glance you could tell something was going on. The bus driver himself knew what they were here for, he was their guide after all. And he had some pity in his eyes as he looked at them - a creeping feeling that they wouldn’t make it out alive.

”As you know, your job’s to infiltrate the reserve and find out what the hell’s going on. Report back with your findings then, you'll receive further instructions after. Each of you grab one of these on your way out,” he said, pointing to 4 brick phones lined up next to the bus’ exit. They were heavy duty, just the caliber necessary for this mission. As it was, the vault was 2 floors deep, going down underground where most signals would be blocked out. The 4 would have to hope that these phones would work. ”Good luck.”

Once they all exited, the man would drive off, heading back the way they came. The group would only be a few dozen meters away from the large vault doors. They were open, light seeping in from outside into the dark interior and illuminating some of it. Aside from that, there were a few dim lights, some flickering on and off, others just about to die.

The lumberjack advanced slowly after throwing the table; each step planted firmly and slowly. He had no desire nor need to take this quickly. This was just another task to uptake, another life to steal. He watched on listlessly as the large man in front charged him and threw a punch. Logan's fist slammed into the lumberjack's gut, causing him to step back.

Eh?

Then an uppercut, and then a pause. The hits hurt. More than he expected. His ears rung and his jaw ached, pausing for a second and not noticing Logan move. The lumberjack tilted his head down, dazed and confused. What? That man, Logan, was gone. What happened? Just a murmur escaped the lumberjack's lips as something wrapped around his abdomen, grabbing him from behind and lifting him up.

"Get off me," he growled, tensing his body and flexing his muscles. His biceps swelled to huge proportions; expanding twofold and breaking out of Logan's grasp. At the same time though, their increased size let the other two land their hits with ease. A spray of acid hit him on the chest, burning away at his clothes and making him slightly dizzy. Another hit struck his leg, leaving a light gash on his calf. "Hmph," he snorted, lifting his left arm with a raised palm, almost as if to grab something that wasn't there. And then, his axe which was stuck in the ground, budged; dislodging itself from the ground and flinging through the air back into his hand.

He looked up at the sky with a wistful look and frowned, mouthing an apology as the look of complacency and surrender washed over him once more. But not surrender to Logan and his crew, but to another being. One which held dominion over his being.

"Magun, lignum." He hefted it up and pointed the blade to the ceiling. A scent filled the air, and a faint light emitted from his body. He was straining himself, a beat of sweat trickling down his cheek, but he paid not a moments attention to it. "Inflet." Suddenly, the ground rumbled and groaned. The flooring cracked, giving way as wood roots sprouted out and shot around. The scene was similar to when those tentacles broke from above, but these were clearly caused by the man in front of them. The roots coming from the ground didn't touch him, forming a circle around him of clear ground. Hard wooden spikes shot out from the roots, flying in various direction randomly.

These would reach throughout the whole room, striking at even Atticus, and unfortunately ending his worldstarhiphop recording.

Logan's attempt at suplexing the giant man had failed but the governor general was undeterred. He knew that he could beat him if kept trying and his allies would surely help him do it. Edme would pass the sin of gluttony her jacket so that he could eat it. What a pal she was. Logan caught the piece of clothing in mid air and shoved it in his mouth. With the need to eat out of the way he could focus more time and energy into kicking this guy's ass.

It was then that the lumberjack somehow managed to get his axe into his hand and from there he would summon and manipulate some sharp roots. Just how the hell was this guy capable of stuff like this? Oh well, no point in worrying about it now. The fact of the matter was that he could pull it off and that was a problem. The roots would barrel towards Logan who would respond by back handing them away from himself with a sweep of his arm. His arm would make contact with the sides of the roots before the sharp ends reached their mark and hopefully there would be enough power in Logan's arm to break the attack. After that was done, Logan rushed at the lumberjack and punched with all his might to break through the roots that were in between him and the large man. If he was strong enough for that to happen then Logan would continue his advance on the big man and launch a hefty punch at the guy's ribs. He would trade blow for blow with this guy and Logan was confident that his body was sturdy enough to take the hits from him.

Man, this was some good stuff, he was catching a straight up jumping all on camera. He was also getting a good show as all three of the others were working together as a team or whatever. Even the dumb brat was able to do... something. Man, if he gave an actual damn, this would have warmed his little ole heart. Chuckling to himself, he shot as about much as she could before the ground began to shake. Putting his phone away, he began to check what was happening as it looks he would have to stay on his toes.

Spotting wood flying about, he gave a slight roll of his eyes before covering his feet in black flames. Moving quickly, he took whatever bumps he had to while also deflecting the boards that came his way. He didn't have time to deal with shit like this, quite honestly, he would just have to get his hands dirty. One of the boards that were flying about was caught by him after he was hit by it, while he was rushing towards the laid out lumberjack. He was still able to do something that seems, which meant that they all failed in their efforts to do something worth praising.

Coming in a bit faster than Logan, Atticus took the board and raised it up before slamming the side down at the Lumberjack's face. "Take a nap, big boy." He spoke up as he caught glimpse of Logan attempting his punch at the man's ribs.

Edmée felt like everything was going well, her attack had been successful, after all! Despite Logan's unfortunate shortcoming, the trio still had him surrounded. The woman grit her teeth as the man still hadn't budged. What the hell's with this guy?! Four on one should've been an easy advantage Looking around and eventually back, she spotted the other guy that had come in with them. Now that she thought about it he hadn't really done all that much. ...Make that three on one. Edmée shook her head in disgust. Checking her own form as to not leave herself wide open. The guy would probably just get in the way, anyways.

The groaning of metal nearly caught Edmée off guard, she looked around again before looking back at the lumberjack Just in time to see the axe that he had thrown into the ground earlier simply travel back into his hands! His quirk must be some kind of telekinesis! Then he began to chant in latin, which she didn't even understand. Opening! Go! Edmé rushed in, preparing to strike the guy in the gut, but would be stopped by a sudden rumbling. She began to back up instantly, attempting to regroup with the rest of them. She fended off the roots the best she could, cutting and slicing into them as they sprung up all around the lumberjack. What is this?! How many quirks does this guy have?! On that thought, a root struck at her from behind, sending the woman to the floor, probably leaving a nasty gouge in the wood in the process.

She tried to get up, but that was when she felt the first sting, and then she felt a couple of more as the the spikes splintered against her quirk. Those same splinters, in several cases, would probably manage to embed themselves into her skin anyway. Tonight was going to be too much like that one time she fell onto a cactus, and that made the woman angry. Clamoring to her feet, she would try to use her quirk to dig into and possibly cut through roots that were getting in her way as she moved towards the large man. If she could reach him, she would attempt to strike out at him.
