It was a rather busy autumn day in the city of Aberdeen. Rin scowled into his scarf as he looked around the crowd. He always hated being out around noon, as his dark colored clothing tended to make him overheat a bit. Sure he could always wear less clothing, but then he ran the risk of being identified at if anything were to happen. For now he would just have to suffer in the heat. The shadowy Mercenary was only out at the moment to look for “insurance” to help his newest job go smoothly.

The job was simple: he was being paid to track down a couple of lower level thugs who had gotten their hands on some compromising images of another mobster that was just a little higher up on the chain. Idiots actually had the guts to try and blackmail someone out of their league. Naturally he didn’t plan on paying, opting instead to teach the thugs a lesson. Not wanting to risk his own men getting the images or spooking the thugs with familiar faces, this low level crime lord had reached out for some third party assistance, and luckily Rin had been in the area. He had been requested to destroy the compromising photos, send proof of their destruction, as well and teach the two idiots a lesson they wouldn’t soon forget. This was the type of job he loved: violent, discreet, and most importantly a target who wouldn’t/couldn’t involve the police.

All the money had been paid up front and he had been given a burner phone track his progress as well as to confirm the completion of his task. Neither he nor his employer knew the other’s true identity and both preferred it that way. There was a level of mutual trust that existed. Rin would do his job and not take off with the money beforehand, and in addition to not hunting him down like an animal, the mobster would keep him in mind if something else that required his expertise showed up.

Rin had no information on the abilities or security of his targets, just that they were local low level thugs and that they were hiding out in some nearby cabin in the woods. While he didn’t like the prospect of having to share his earnings, the thought of failure just from being out-manned was enough to make him look for a partner on this one. He needed to find someone that could handle themselves in a fight and wasn’t from around this area so they couldn’t be recognized. Despite the annoying midday heat, he would continue to scan the crowd. Looking for someone that seemed ideal.

Odin groaned as he leaned back in his chair. He had finished todays plans but still had daylight to spend. Maybe he'd go see a movie or some shit, if there was anything good to watch. Then again that did cost money and that was a luxury he didn't have much of, this little brunch at the cafe cost more than enough of what he wanted to spend today. As Odin thought about what to do with the rest of his day he rolled around some still red magma in his hand, it was tiny and looked more like gum but like his quirk it glowed a bit. Guess the only thing for him to do know was to try and decide how to pass the time.

"This fucking heat...." The usually even tempered mercenary swore to himself. Rin had spent over an hour without finding anyone that looked like they would be a decent accomplice for this job. I mean sure he had found a few people that looked like decent fighters had turned out to be locals from the area, which was something he was trying to avoid. Working with someone who was from stupid city just opened him up to getting stabbed in the back they either knew is target, or gabbed about it to the wrong person. He had seen a few too many acquaintances taken down by being too trusting of other people, and he would be certain that it wouldn't happen to him.

Even if he managed to find what he was looking for it wouldn't do him any good if he ended up passing out from heat stroke. It was time for him to take and break. Ducking into a nearby cafe, Rin ordered whatever the specialty drink of the day was and hid himself behind a menu, giving it a brief look over. Nothing they served seemed too appetizing, but that was fine with Rin. He would just order a few drinks and stay out of the heat for a bit.

At least that had been the plan. Out of the corner of his eye Rin would catch sight of something small and glowing in the hand of a nearby patron. At first he paid it no mind, not wanting to bring any attention to himself by staring, but as the small glow seemed to not be fading, eventually he would stop to take a good look at it. A blonde haired young man, who appeared to be a only a bit taller than Rin,sat at the table next to his, casually rolling a ball of red hot "something" between his fingers. The young man didn't appear to be in a rush to go anywhere, despite having already finished his meal. Who ever he was, the tall young man didn't appear to have any reservations about using whatever his quirk was in public, a rare thing to see in modern days given the stigma associated with even the slightest usage. Maybe this kid was just what Rin was looking for, he certainly looked big enough that he could take a hit or two.

"Sooo...." the shady figure spoke to the lad from underneath the scarf that covered the bottom of his face. "You don't seem like you're from this area, no? Awfully bold to be using such a noticeable quirk wile out and about, even in such a small capacity." At this point he just wanted to see the young man's reaction, if everything went well here, maybe he could avoid having to got back out to search in that god awful heat.

Odin could barely feel the heat, it would have to be at least in the 100's for him to feel warmer, being made of molten magma tended to help with that. Odin's little ball of fire cooled down in his hand, the red hot glow dulling to a faint red. There hadn't been much activity for the cafe even for it being a nice day in Odin's eyes but there were still people. He was taken by surprise when a young man pulled up a chair and started talking to him. He had a scarf covering his neck and lower face. The surprise didn't last long as Odin didn't feel threatened by the slightly shorter men but he was still taken aback by his statement about him using his quirk.

"So what if I use it? its not doing anything and I doubt anyone besides a few people really care about it." He said as he tossed and caught the ball. "This little thing is nothing." Odin said as he held it between his fingers. "What's the real reason why you came and talked to me? It can't be because of my good looks?" There was something else the hooded man wanted and in all honesty depending on what it was Odin might accept since it was a slow ass day. Hopefully this would help make the day be a bit better than before.

Rin stared across the table at the tall blonde kid across the table from him. He looked young, late teens, maybe Rin's age at the oldest, and yet here he was, sitting along in a mostly empty cafe in the middle of Scotland. Where were his friends? Weren't people their age suppose to have a lot of those? Rin's complicated history, tendency to drift, along with his apathetic, borderline untrusting opinion of other people were all sound reasons not to keep others around in his mind. What reason could that man before him have for being alone on a day like today?

In his snide remarks, Rin's tall compatriot had failed to answer the question he had been asked, whether intentionally or by accident he was not sure. Instead he had chosen to focus on the other, less important matter of public quirk usage. He had meant it as a form of small talk..., an ice breaker of sorts, but the strange sitting across him seemed far more interested in any ulterior motives that he might have. "Most people are uptight and adhere to the public quirk usage laws in the absolute. It's always nice to see someone with more of an open mind on the idea." He responded casually.

Rin was always cautious during the selection process when he needed to pick up help for a job, and this time would be no different. Before he let him on the specifics of the situation, he needed to be sure that he was both trustworthy, and up to the task that the mercenary would require his assistance for. "I have always had an interest in the quirks that other people possess, always keep my eyes out for people who seem interesting." He replied giving a half truth, of course quirks interested him, but the only time he kept his eyes out was when scouting talent or opposition. "You say that that "little thing" is nothing, then would you willing to show me what you are actually capable of?" He asked, trying to stroke the mans ego slightly before adding. "I know of an empty warehouse, down by the docks, where you could demonstrate what you can do."

In his mind it seemed a fairly sound plan. By offering him an opportunity to show off, Rin could assess the kids power and and see if he was a good fit for the job. If not, they could just go their separate ways and no one would be the wiser. If so he just might be able keep himself out of the damned heat for good.

The more Odin talked to this stranger the more it felt like he was in the wrong crowd, and that was a good thing to Odin. The short stranger talked about how he enjoyed Odin's openness to using his quirk in public. Odin had half expected the usual 'Aren't you worried you'll get in trouble?' but he heard nothing of the sort from this stranger. In fact the stranger seemed like he could care less that Odin could and would use his quirk in public.

The stranger then explained they had a interest in other people's quirks, especially the interesting ones. Odin thought that was either bullshit or horseshit, no one is really that interested in other people's quirks unless they want something. Odin's question about the real reason why the stranger approached was answered as the stranger asked him to go with him to the docks to a warehouse where he could show him Odin's quirk.

"Yea, or mug me" Odin thought to himself. Although a small fight with this guy might be better than doing nothing all day and Odin didn't feel that threatened by him. "Why not, I don't have anything to do today." He said to the stranger, as he got up. "Let's get this show on the road." If this stranger was friend or foe Odin wouldn't really care until it was revealed.

"Excellent." Rin uttered from beneath the piece of fabric he was using for a mask. "Give me a moment to finish up here and we can be on our way." Moving back to his own table he would signal to the wait staff that it that he was ready to pay his tab. It was not that he had never dine and dashed before, but at the moment there was no need to. The last thing he wanted people looking out for someone with his description for something so trivial. While the chance was low of such a crime coming back to bite him in the short time he was spending here, still wasn't worth the risk for the cost of a few drinks. After paying his bill he would wave to the blonde man to show he was leaving, indicating that he should follow.

"Try to keep up and don't get lost." He laughed to the man behind him, weaving through the crowds toward the docks. Given his turbulent past, Rin had a tendency occasionally be a bit disconnected from those he interacted with, and it would now strike him how sketch the offer he had made to Odin actually sounded. A complete strange asks you to follow them to an out of the way location just to get a glimpse of your quirk. The whole thing should have set off a bunch of red flags, which meant the man following him was either extremely trusting, and possibly easy to manipulation, or extremely confident in his abilities. Either of these would make him a decent candidate to work with, at least for a one off job.

It would only take half an hour to reach the docks, most of which would be spent in relative silence. The crowd would begin to thin out more and more as they approached their destination. Rin would circle around the building twice to make sure they weren't being followed before stopping at an unlocked side door and opening it. He would motion for Odin to follow him inside, if he were actually planning to mug the man this would be the best time to do so. Once inside Odin would see that the massive warehouse was all but entirely empty. A ring of empty shelves lined the outside wall, but aside from that the stone floor of the building itself was all but completely bare. The light coming from the upper windows would cast beams to the floor throughout the building, but without any electrical light most of the floor was bathed in shadow. From what he had heard this place was owned and used by a couple of the local gangs as a neutral territory for them to have meetings. As a symbol of trust, none of them ever stored anything or had any personnel stationed here as a show of trust. This awkward arrangement made the place the perfect spot to do, well pretty much anything...

Provided Odin had followed him inside, Rin would turn around and address the blonde. "Alright! Now that we shouldn't have to worry about being disturbed.. Why don't you show me what you can really do?" He was honestly a little surprised the man had come along this far. Pulling away his face mask he would finally add, "The name's Rin, by the way. I don't normally into introduce myself by name, but i feel your display of trust in following me has warranted at least a little something in return.."

Odin watched the other man finish up with their meal and payed. Odin had already paid for his things so it was just a matter of waiting for them to finish and they could get on their way. Honestly Odin was excited at the fact of getting a excuse to use his quirk to its full potential, being stuck in areas like these tend to limit his quirk time. "Take your time, would hate for you to choke on something." Odin teased, He couldn't wait to get the show on the road.

As he began to follow the other man they stepped up their pace, teasing him to keep up. Odin just smirked at the comment, wasn't too hard to follow the masked and hooded man as they stuck out of the crowd. As they continued their walk they got to the warehouse district, Odin hadn't really been here that many times but it didn't matter to him. He just wanted to know what was gonna happen when they got to where they were.

They came to a completely normal looking warehouse and went around it twice before heading in. It was completely bare, there was literally nothing but the rafters inside this thing. The person who Odin followed removed their mask and introduced themselves as Rin. He then asked to show him what he could do, much to Odin's delight. "If you say so, I suggest you stand back and I hope you don't mind heat." He said with a smile and his skin turning pitch black.

As his form began to contort and reshape his form began to glow a deep red, like molten magma. He continued to grow in size until he almost doubled his size. Heat radiated off of Odin, flame spouting as he grew to max height. Twelve feet of magma formed into the form of a bipedal demon stood in front of Rin, Odin's armed were out stretched to show off. "This is what i can do Rin, oh and my name's Odin, nice to meet you." He said, his voiced deepened and distorted from speaking in this form.
