It happened before she could even realize it. Walls erupted out of the ground made by Abyssal herself, separating them into different battlefields. It was a smart tactic, divide and conquer. A quirk like her own must be intense in one on one combat, but now was not the time to worry about that... It was time to worry about how to keep the children out of the fight.

They clearly wanted to help fight, else, why else were they here? She couldn't understand quite why. Mercutio was a dangerous villain, causing the death of thousands of people. Did they even know? Or were these kids just desensitized to that fact? She didn't know, but it didn't matter. She would rescue them all the same.

Everyone felt like they were moving so slow. Her eyes glowing a bright, neon blue as she scanned over the battlefield. So many potentially dangerous targets, picking one to single out was difficult. The girl expelling the fire towards them clearly seemed to be rallying the children to combat. That was a big no in Manaia's book.

An angry noise escaped her throat as she took a single step. She was going to show them a world of hurt... That is until she heard a voice. "Uhm... Mrs. Grandma!" A small voice, trying to be as loud as it could. Her empty eyes immediately found the source of the yelling. A little boy, the one that looked like a fox from before.

Her heart absolutely broke. This kid... Not only did he wish her luck, but he clearly seemed to be aware that Mercutio had done some things. Yet, he was still happy. Be that as it may, she couldn't just drop everything. She was here to protect the innocent, just as she always had... And he was clearly innocent. He ran off before she could respond and her mind was settled. She knew what she was going to do. This might be their home and maybe he did treat them well, but that was no excuse for this. Encouraging children to fight trained soldiers was the last straw.

She broke off into a sprint, running alongside the large spray of fire. Hell, it was hot. Really, really hot. She braved the heat, shouting at the top of her lungs as she ran. If these people had any semblance of sanity, they would protect their children just as much as she was going to attempt to do. "What the hell did I just say? Children don't fight in wars!"

Her entire body suddenly was overtaken by the energy pouring straight out of her eyes. Manaia's body covered by a glowing cocoon made up of pure energy, so bright that even looking at her during this dark night might hurt the eyes. Without a second wasted, the cocoon suddenly cracked and exploded outwards with a flash of light.

In its place, Manaia returned vastly different. Twice her size, now 12 feet tall, in the shape of a glowing owl. Her light blue body was composed entirely of the energy that was normally confined to her eyesockets. She was pissed and her face showed it. Manaia opened her beak and a loud screech echoed out around her as she dived headfirst into the flames as close as she could get to the enemy side. The angry owl spread her wings as far as they could go, her 30-foot wingspan practically separating the battlefield in half.

She didn't know if this was regular fire or some other kind of fire she would be harmed by, but it mattered not to her. With any luck, Manaia hoped she could end this battle before it began. Her body getting even brighter than before for a second, she suddenly let off a bright flash of light. The goal was simple. Blind and stun as many of the enemy as possible, then hopefully swoop in and carry every single kid she could see out of there. War was no kind of place for a child, no matter their quirk or how strong they were.

Vivi didn't move from her spot as everything went to hell around her. Everyone, her allies for this fight and their
opponents seemed so unafraid to fight for their side. The children of Elysium especially made a great impression on her. Why would these children be so willing to defend their quarry. The Crimson Fucker -even with how the situation was looking, she giggled for a bit, it was still a funny and cool name- was the one who had taken them away after slaughtering their parents yet they were going to stand up for him? They were either misguided, brainwashed, or even worse...might actually have a legitimate reason on doing what they are doing right now.

It was then that Vivi realized that something that made a chill crawl down her spine. This wasn't going to be a battle of epic proportions, each side fighting each other for the right to be declared the victor. The only thing that made this a battle was the fact that they were going to be attacking each other. This was not a battle in the eyes if Vivi, this was several people throwing their lives away, and being part of that scared her.

She shouldn't be here, she shouldn't be part of this. The children shouldn't be here, the children shouldn't be a part of this. They shouldn't be fighting innocent children. Innocent children shouldn't be fighting them. Mercutio was the only person that they were all after. She couldn't bring herself to hurt them, she looked at their faces and saw the face of her younger brother, the most innocent thing that she'd ever known...he was older now but she missed him. She couldn't hurt someone that had done nothing but decide that they were going to fight for what they believed in.

'It must be nice...to have one of those.'

Yet by some strange twists of fate this was happening.

Vivi breathed out as she watched the multicolored flames blaze to life. The face of her younger brother burned away and now all she saw were the faces of strangers that were part of the opposing side.

"That's right isn't it...none of us have the choice of backing down now."

She was going to have to fight...and...she was going to have to win.

"I've got a confession to make..." Vivi began. "I'm very fucking scared. I'm scared of theses kids, I'm scared of Mercutio, I'm scared of what might happen to us here. It's entirely possible that we may not make it out of this alive...I definitely won't make it out of here alive, but I'm going down kicking. We go after the heads and maybe the body will die." She got behind Tapu and grabbed onto him. "I've got a plan and I'm gonna need you to jump. I'm going for that firestarter. She's the biggest threat in my eyes."

14 Thousand...?

As more and more people arrived, Rainer's patience began thinning. It was as if each and everyone of them had to walk up and say their little catchphrase and morale booster before beginning the fight. But despite the monotony and repetition, he did feel ever so slightly swayed by their words. He wasn't a heartless person, and Rainer wouldn't have been particularly pleased if Abyssal had truly just killed a large amount of innocents with the wave of her hand, not even batting an eye. But as it was, he was just being naive. Despite being on the heroes side rather than working for some shady black market, he now found himself on a morally ambiguous battlefield. But when faced with the fact that this 'Mercutio' guy killed so many people.. and that sounded to just have been in one event. The words Abyssal spoke snapped Rainer back to reality, remembering that this was more akin to a war then a hit job.

Maybe they were heroes in this fight, they probably were, but they'd go through hell and rain hell upon others just to come out on top. "Fuck's sake," Rainer muttered under his breath. It was then than Abyssal split the fight.

Quite literally, she just cut the fight apart. With walls of magma, Abyssal was free to engage with that Mercutio guy. The bounty hunter observed his area, noting that all of the other recruits were with him as well. Well, that's good- His train of thought turned sour though, frowning as he saw the sheer mass of enemies in the distance. One guy moved among them, Rainer turning his head to look. Before he knew it, the his body begun morphing into some white stone statue. And without a single word spared, the man walked off. Rainer's eyes followed him as he marched towards the enemies. In retaliation, the enemy forces made a move too; a massive stream of flame.

Here goes nothing. Taking inspiration from the man in the stone statue, smoke swirled around Rainer's body to form a wispy beast. He stared out through the misty smoke at the battlefield, marching forwards as well. The form he took didn't provide a large amount of protection, but at least it looked cool. When it came to protection though, Rainer had another trick up his bag.

i just wanna be as cool as tapu one day

As the flame approached, his right arm truly morphed into smoke, but just as he was about to block; the owl took action. For context; Rainer had a brief idea of some of his allies' quirks, but seeing them in action was different. For example; the stone statue guy looked a lot cooler in person. More importantly, he was walking straight through the fire like a bad-ass. Another member of the team was some owl thing, code name 'Night Shade'. And either she could teleport, or she was really damn fast, but somehow she'd already blitzed her way towards the enemies. With a flash of light, she shot up into the air and grew into a massive owl. Like a guardian angel, she flew directly against the flames, blocking them from going any further.

Quite frankly, watching all of this made Rainer's hands shake. This was way more than he was used to. But despite it, the young bounty hunter clenched his teeth and ran after the statue guy. Slowing down as he neared the man, Rainer trudged alongside him, noticing the little girl run up to him as well. It made Rainer feel slightly more confident having 3 people here. Everything moved quickly, and just as he'd begun walking more calmly, two attacks came flying in. One was aimed lower at Tapu, whilst the other was a large explosive attack. Rainer opted to take action, going for the attack which seemed the most dangerous at face value. The right arm of his smoky form grew into a massive size, punching out and slamming into the oncoming attack. The explosion would brighten on impact, wisps of fire clamouring around Rainer's fist and flitting around on his arm.

Shrinking his arm back down and retracting it, Rainer stared straight at the boy who threw it, the ghostly visage he'd taken on hopefully seeming more menacing than his usual face. He'd stopped in his place, and although not looking at the other attack, keeping wary of it until Tapu or someone else dealt with it.

It appeared the worst was happening when Demetri, standing on top of Nala’s back, arrived on the scene. He could see in the distance Mercutio, a small group of outsiders, and the on fire hospital. Looking below, there was a congregation of Elysians that had rushed to the scene. The woman in the distance created a barrier of lava around her and Mercutio and the other a strong gust of air separated the gathering into groups.

One of the ones blown over towards the boy was Alana. She asked him to command Nala and assist them in fending off the invaders. She might have been overestimating his control over the beast. The boy had only just met the Tarrasque, they’ve barely gotten to know each other, beyond introductions and a few days of chatting. Were they really expecting that much out of him?

Alana would continue, now addressing all of the Elysians who had shown up to the commotion. She spoke about the idea of “defending our home,” Demetri wasn’t sure how he felt about it. Was this his home? No, no it wasn’t… At this point, he had no place in the world he could call home, however, this was no time to get into such sentimental topics. If he wished to continue living long enough to accomplish his goal, he needed to keep playing along.

The teen signaled the blonde woman with a casual salute, before turning to the now solid molten rock that encased Mercutio and the woman. “Don’t die in there,” Demetri said to himself. “Your life is mine to take.”

It was then when two black ducks appeared, flapping their wings. He sensed that they were not here to cause any trouble and seemed harmless. Demetri reached for and touched one of the ducks on top of their head. Seems they were relatively weak minded, it would be easy to command them.

“...!!” Demetri sensed a hostile pheromone. “What the… NALA!” He shouted to the tarrasque while flooding the area with his gold pheromones.

Chains flew towards the beast’s head, coming from seemingly nowhere. He’d command the creature to bite down on the chains and tug as hard as she could to attempt and pull whoever was targeting them.

“Ducks!” He said with an authoritative tone, one that would cause them to jump into an attention stance. Continuing to pump his pheromones, he would command them to circle around him, within an 8-meter radius. He needed to locate where this pheromone was coming from if he was going to attempt combating them, plus this was a nice way of utilizing these little quak-lings.

The ethereal bird had little concern for the massive wall erected between the combatants. It was quite trivial really, if Mercutio need healing, he could simply walk past the wall as if it wasn't even there. However, he knew the Crimson Contractor's pride wouldn't abide to such support this early one, the Being of Balance likely to hurl the poor goose back over the wall instead of accepting something that would unfairly turn the tide into his favor.

The diminutive doctor bobbed and weaved throughout the ground, skimming the surface like the world's strangest looking dolphin. Apparently a sizable duck had waddled onto the battlefield, a talking mallard that didn't seem to actually be human. It was an honest to goodness duck! For once in his life, Leroy didn't feel alone. To see this fellow waterfowl join in their cause as well, the sight of this wobbling webbed-footed warrior filled the goose's heart with an immense joy.

After a good few evasive, albeit unnecessary maneuvers, the tinny southern voice would quietly croon within Negan and Rosa's ears, the patron poltergeist having decided beforehand the pair would be his main concern. Given the immense, yet unsustainable power the pair possessed, only a bird brain would forego pocketing them.

"Now kids, y'all need me, jus' give a whistle. Ol' Leroy's still gettin' a hang of this here ghost bid'ness, and I don't need to get hold up fightin' some yeller-bellied sneaker.

Before he could fully dive back into the earth, the transformation of the matronly Owl had obviously caught his attention. Another bird of pure energy? Well you know what they say, birds of uh feather. The caring avian already had drawn the kind bird's ire, her earlier comments of "whisking away the children" like a post-menopause Peter Pan completely rubbing the country-fried caretaker the wrong way. Well if she was going to show off, he'd at least give her a piece of his mind. Given the imminent risk of death this battle displayed, he wasn't going to head on back to creation with regrets on his mind.

"With all due respect Mrs. Owl, yew ain't taking these here kids nowhere. 'Lahner and I hand reared these pups ourselves, and I'll be gosh darned if some fancy-shmancy hoot-hoot'ns gonna waltz over here with 'er hospital blastin' buddies and tell us how tuh raise our kids."

The transparent parent had his attention snatched away from the imposing avian for just a brief moment, as the familiar sounds of a young man's explosions caught his ear. The brother and sister duo was his main concern, knowing full well the strain their fusion placed upon them prevented their body from naturally regenerating. Negan would feel quite refreshed despite his earlier exertions, although the feint honking in the back of his mind could prove cumbersome to the lad. Realizing he still has more to say to the imposing child snatcher, the goose would snap his hollow eyes back towards the luminous owl.

"Yuh wanna talk safety? These kids are in the presence of a bird lit'rally made uh healin'. This here shindig's 'bout as safe as one can get.

And with that, the ghostly goose had swandived back into the ground, his lengthy neck occasionally flicking upwards like a bubblegum shaded periscope. He knew his position of "team medic" left a vibrant target upon the nape of his neck, and the tides of battle could easily be shifted if he couldn't His purpose was to guide this blitzkrieg into a war of attrition, and he'd be damned to let those around him down.

Nala's Reaction

This was quite the show-boating contest.

Chameleon kept to his favoured shadows, having engaged with the biggest danger on their side. That monstrous creature would have to be taken care of, and if it was under any form of control, it spelled out bad news for their war effort.

He got quite the shock, however, when a shadowy substance leaped forth and struck his chain around the center of it. His eyes were torn from the battlefield and the massive Tarrasque, to the source of this attack on his chain weapon. The resulting jolt almost ripped the handle out of his grip, but he luckily held on while digging his feet down into the sound further to plant himself there.

'I won't have the benefit of surprise for much longer...' He thought, having noticed that the whipping sand had settled around them. If one of the opposing side had noticed where his chain had come from, he didn't have much time until he was pinpointed...

And with that thought, Chameleon was sent on quite the wild ride.

In spite of digging himself down into the beach with his heels to avoid being whipped around by the shadowy attack from before, he was yanked up into the air and thrown towards the opposing team. It was in such sequence that, unfortunately for him, Vitality's operatives were making an offensive counter-attack.

He released his chain weapon as he went hurtling to the ground, having been launched from twenty metres in the air. He tried to control his descent to not land right in the line of fire between their foes, but his control was... limited to say the least.

His invisible body kicked up sand in the centre of the battlefield, and he was put directly between the Cosmic Owl creature and the blinding light; in front of their enemies. He took the full force of the blinding stun.

'Amateurs, all of them...!' He thought with a mental hiss, body rigid and shaking himself out of the stun as quickly as he could. His chains were flailing in the air above them all now, with the Tarrasque creature having yanked them off him. "Watch your damn heads...!" He hissed lowly to his underlings ahead of him, and tried to rally himself from the stun effect as quickly as possible so that he wouldn't be right in the middle of the next onslaught...

Ba-da-bing, ba-da-bang, look at all those fuckers! Minty eyes snapped from each head moving to and from their positions noting that everyone on their side as well as Vitality were taking their spots in various places on the beach. Shirou stood by Alana's ankles eyeing the fire that bloomed from her clutches, but to his surprise Tapu breezed through the fire like a stone warden in the flesh. Clicking his tongue to the roof of his bill, the large fowl shifted his attention toward an inpossibly long chain. The beast in the back was like a looming centerpiece on a massive dinning room table, he thought, but who, or what, was throwing that chain...?

Chameleon.

Who else? An invisible chameleon was the least of Shirou's concerns. A small stream of blue tinted exhaust snorted out of his bill as he eyed Crawford and a young child by his side. There was a multitude of people all around him, but most were in the back standing on the defense from Alana's point of view. However, a loud voice had Shirou turning his head in alarm toward a young boy with several fox like tails. An x-form... That quirk was unfamiliar. Narrowing his eyes at the way the boy spoke to the Owl, Shirou wasn't sure what he was trying to accomplish, but then it hit him. He snapped his head toward Owl just in time to see her rushing forward like a teleporting disaster in her wake.

Her weakness has to be children. Earlier he overheard her announcing her dislike of children in war, and that she, too, had babies once. Taking this into mind he realized that Mairu was smarter than the average fox, or he wasn't aware and was sincerely good hearted. That shout of worry from the fox encouraged Shirou to kick his ass into gear, but a sudden SWOOSH of air nearly toppled him over in his stand.

Everything that followed Owl swooshing into a massive night feathered nightmare had hapened nearly in the blink of an eye. Just as quickly as she had flown in the air her body began to emit a flashing brightness. A wing raised up to cover his eyes, and anywhere nearby the ducks that are currently aiding children and fighters alike would do the same. An unfamilar voice called out in front of himself, and Shirou has witnessed something extrodinary.

There, before him, stood Chameleon, Owl, and a select few other Vitality members within a few meters of himself. The attack Chameleon had attempted on the monsterous beast far behind him had failed, and upon closer inspection he noted that her mouth had the chain firmly in her tight grip. The cogs in his head began to turn as he took a few steps back in the sand, little duck footprints being left. The large fowl to his right turned his head questionable at Shirou, but all he did was make a signal with his wing. First, his wing shot up in the air then swiped right. All ducks on the field understood this action, and they began to tell each of their allies in whispers, "Cover your ears."

"All'a them heroes in one spot. Ain't that that luck'a the draw, yup yup," Shirou muttered to himself as he hopped into the air with ease and took off toward the mass of Vitality. Landing in the sand with a thump of his flippers a few meters in front of Alana, the unsuspected bird sucked in a big gulp of air. Being so close to these insane Vitality members made his feathers rise in fear, worry, stress, but thrill as well. Instantly, each cheek on his face puffed out like white pouches, and without warning the young bird held out his wings in preperation for flight. Wings out, cheeks puffed, and drips of red and pink smoke oozing from his nostrils onto the sand like goo, Shirou was ready. He hoped and trusted Alana to remember his warning. There wasn't time on a battle field to have merry conversation, so without further ado our little friend has created a disaster.

In one fluid motion his head snapped forward and his flippeds dragged in the sand at the force that pushed his whole body back a foot.

"QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!"

A defeaning quack that stretched fifty feet forward coated everything within its super sonic blast in a layer of staining rainbows. Sand, clothes, armor, skin, hair, you name it! These fantastic sparkling colors marked everyone that was within his range, or everyting, for each sound wave that hit those in front of him was packed with bright rings of color, each one being a different hue from the rainbow. The first quack of the power surge had Shirou retreating while the sound was blasting forward. Taking flight, he held the quack for a total of ten seconds before snapping his bill shut and turning on his tail. Flying like a madman, color coating half of his body in hints of red and blue, Shirou swooped overhead of Alana and the rest of those grounded before taking to higher altitutdes. He needed a moment to recap, rest his vocals, so that he may fire off the second quack later without too many repricussions.

Shirou would zip to overhead of his allies before spotting a blob of pink! PINK?! And, oddly enough, the figure was shaped like... like... a goose? A slight pang of worry tickled his noggin, but he shook his head. This goose was clearly on our side, he scolded himself. Without warning, Shirou took a nose dive and landed less than gracefully a couple of feet from Leroy. Letting out a loud snort of excess color from his nostrils, the young duck tilted his head and quacked at his fellow fowl.

It looked like Vitality were more or less looking out for each other as one of the members stopped the attack that Negan had sent at Tapu. The maroon-haired boy cocked his head slightly at the smokey monster that had blocked his explosion. Huh, that could be a problem. The monster certainly looked intimidating but after all the shit that Negan had encountered in the last 8 months there was little that could scare him. "Let's target this smoke guy, Rosa." Negan said to his sister, staring down the monster. He didn't want to keep his eyes off of the smoke man but the movement from another vitality member caught his eye.

Negan watched as the glowing eyed lady from before began running towards them, directly through Alana's fire attack as energy began to form around their body. This was not good, the two of them would have to fuse as soon as possible. Fortunately the two siblings were already holding hands so all it took was a mere thought to activate the quirk. Not wasting any time, Negan instinctively activated the powerful quirk that he shared with his sister, fusing them into the one being that was known as "Taylor". At the same time as this, Negan felt a surge of energy flow into his body, making him feel refreshed. The boy figured it was the goose's handy work but he didn't have time to look and confirm the suspicion. The fused form was ready to respond accordingly to whatever Owl Mom was about to do.

"R-Right," Rosa muttered as she let herself fuse with Negan. Fusing with her older brother had become commonplace and with their hands already holding each other's, it would be close to instant. The feeling of the new form was a strange one for the siblings. They were certainly stronger, but their thoughts were intoxicated by this new power. Merging into one never felt better.

As the two forms became one in a bright light, a crimson mist flowed out. This crimson energy would dampen the light in an attempt to stop those around the now singular being stunned. After only seconds the light would fade away, revealing the single being. Two voices cried out as the figure shouted. One like a small girl's was trembling while a young man's sounded calm. "This place is all we have, so just go away!" The being would start to walk forward as they called out to Vitality, a crimson glow covering their body and leaving a faint trail.

Fusion-Ha would take in a large gasp air as they finished shouting, their arms growing in size. Unless the Vitality forces surrendered then, it would be time to act. Running around the owl woman, Taylor would set their sites on the man that blocked their previous attack. A wicked grin would form on their face as Taylor threw a punch with each fist at Rainer. From the force of each fist, there would be a rush of air. After the attacks, the Fused being would stand there. Fist at the ready to clash with whatever was thrown their way. "You've got more than that, don't you?"

There was too much happening too fast despite Mordred's gecko eyes working overtime to keep track of everything. He thought he was watching owl mom, but apparently not close enough because she landed near him before he realized she moved. While the ninja duck on his head kept him safe from the stunning effect of her brilliant show of power, Mordred still had to contend with the survival instinct he felt in every fiber of his being. Chameleon landed not too far off and more of Vitality's members had surged onto the field. Too busy thinking of actions to take, he was easily coached by his ninja duck and covered his ears as the field was painted rainbow.

This was the final straw. His body flexed and started to grow out violently in spine and flesh until he was encased in a layer of protective flesh that made him about as cuddly as a thorn bush. The duck on his head had to take flight lest it be affected by the spines coating the gecko-man's body. Prepped for battle, Mordred charged Owl Mom.

In charging the enemy, Mordred's arms were held up in a defensive posture like a boxer might take. This enabled him to shield his core with his limbs while keeping his arms tight and ready to throw punches as the opportunities presented themselves. However, his charge on Owl Mom was a feint. He maneuvered around the owl (going to all 4's if necessary) to evade her before storming past to come up on Rainer's side so as not to get in the way of Unity's attacks while staying on the opposite site of Tapu and Vivi. Regardless of which enemy allowed themselves to get within Mordred's reach, whether it be Owl Mom choosing to get in his way or Rainer getting caught, Mordred would savagely start throwing punches and attempt to bind the person to him with his sticky hands. His tail would also be curling around him to further augment his defense as he engaged.

Lyra listened to the words of the war torn man before her, finding his answer to not be the one she was seeking. Though his scars may be worse, the circumstances behind such devastation must have been different in the slightest, as he wore his scars as a reminder instead of a regret. The young, scraggly haired woman really couldn't understand such a concept as of now, as she watched everything start to unfold around her, especially with all of their attackers grouping up in a single area. Noticing the fowl make some sort of motion, Lyra started to hear hushed words in the air, warning her of some kind of devastation that was to come. Knowing that such a task was easy, Lyra decided to play it safe, crafting a neat idea in order to keep her little machinations under wraps. Reaching up, she let her fingers graze the edge of Crawford's scar as she explained, "I... Am in a similar situation, but how I got here must have been far different from yours."

From her sleeve, two sheets of paper folded into one another to become hard to spot, before said sheets would slither out of her sleeve, under her hand, and onto Crawford's face. Manipulating her paper, she had them skim across his own skin in order to wrap around his ears, giving him protection for what was to come. Lyra only nodded as she was feeling extremely uncomfortable with this touchy-feely facade, as she simultaneously manipulated two more shits to slither up her collar and underneath her hair, in order to cover her own ears as well for the devastation that was to come. Hopefully others were able to slyly create their own preparations for some sort of devastating attack, but at least Lyra covered herself and the Warden of Shadows beside her. (Freeform D rank Ear Muffs for Lyra and Crawford, using four sheets of C rank Purity Paper)

And hidden from view, Lyra started to take notice the owl person transforming into some kind of large creature made of energy. Alarms rang throughout her own head as she immediately deemed that person as the largest threat out of everyone in front of them, besides the invisible man dealing with the giant turtle dinosaur thing. Though formulating her own plans, she was just waiting for the signal to act. Taking notice of the Energy Owl quite literally tanking all of these attacks, the Paper Master was just thinking that with that avian form of theirs, they could easily take flight a moment's notice, and god knows what the hell she can do while up in the air.

Then the loud quack occurred, Lyra wincing as she could still feel the painful vibrations of that attack rattle throughout her own ears. But it was also at this time, that she situated the weaker paper inside of her cloak to press against her own body and bolster her own movements, as she was going to need to close a big gap in order to pull off a very neat trick. Sprinting across the hardened rocky terrain, Lyra was careful enough to not trip over the colored covering of the mighty quack attack, focusing her entire attention on the large bird woman. Moving a hand to the center of her robe, she slid down the zipper of her attire in preparation of keeping this bird grounded.

Once Lyra was a good ten meters away from the main group, a flurry of paper rushed out from her robes and took to the skies, flying over and around the gigantic cosmic owl. Each sheet of paper attempting to press into the Owl's own form, stiffening up as they all worked to hold the woman down with each individual sheet of paper. Though it was not enough to mummify her, a good sixty sheets was more than enough to hopefully blotch the woman in stiff, movement restricting paper. Words slithered out of her own mouth, directed towards the Motherly Owl, "They shouldn't, but they feel obligated. I've been fighting my own war for the past half of a decade, abandoned by anyone and everyone that I knew and loved. There's nothing for me out in your world, as my home is here."

These words were far truer than anything Lyra has ever said, as she felt like the majority of her life was with her stuck being in a perpetual hurricane of shit, with everything escalating at such a high pace that at times it would have been easier to just end her own life. Whether she liked it or not, Elysium was the only place she could call her own home, as it was the first place she felt like she belonged, despite her always being the odd one out of this group of ragtag people. She was fighting this war in order to keep her home, and that was her own decision.

Honk.
An immense concentration of energy disrupted the goose's underwater sanctity, the compilation crimson intense enough to send shivers down where Leroy's spine used to be. While he couldn't tell right off who or what happened, he quickly figured it was either the owl or Mercutio. Considering the location of this beacon, it was either Mercutio or the owl was a lot quicker than he could fathom. The goose would flick his head out of the ground for a moment, ensuring that the cosmic raptor's disposition hadn't pulled a complete 180. From a brief glimpse, everything seemed fine. The overbearing owl wasn't the source of the massive energy, and he apparently had a plump, feathery visitor.

It seemed the duck had caught him in one of the few exposed moments, his pink goosey head now about knee level to the overgrown waterfowl. The big ol' feller seemed pleasant enough for proper company, a Oh well, even he still honked on occasion. Perhaps this was just the duck's way of greeting another bird. A few passing words wouldn't be the worst thing, Mercutio could handle himself for that amount of time.

"Howdy there, Big Feller! Now that's a humdinger of uh quirk yuh got right there. We can talk uh bit more after, 'cause I got some healin' tuh do."

The goose would then dive through the stone divider, caring little for how impervious it may be. While becoming completely intangible proved quite cumbersome throughout day-to-day life, it proved to being the quintessential ability for a medic on the go. He was slightly dumb-founded, of course, to find his Crimson Cohort casually smoking a pungent herb. Apparently in the few seconds he had wasted chatting, the It's safe to say Leroy was a bit disappointed, because apparently he missed a drag out, no holds barred, slobber knocker of a fight.

"Dag gummit Big Red, cain't take muh eyes off yuh 'fore yuh go 'n ee-vaporate somebody," Leroy would chastise, before the recent memory of Abyssal attacking the hospital flashed across his mind. "Guess I cain't blame yuh though, world's a whole lot kinder without 'er. Yuh look like all hammered tuh heck though, reckon I oughta fix that.

This method of healing was a bit more personal than what Mercutio had seen prior, the floating bird actually getting within arms length of his patient. Normally, a simple thought would be enough to close any wound. In the Dark Continent, he was able to sufficiently invigorate his partners with a mere look. This time, however, Leroy would place his energetic palm upon, no, through the scarred chest of Mercutio.

"Now that Dark Cont'nint done brought a whole slew of changes. Pre-pare tuh be amazed, uh-honk honk honk."

A tidal wave of emotional energy would pour through the Adrestian juggernaut's veins, an overwhelming sensation which could only be described as "unbridled bliss." Despite Mercutio's complete overexertion, he'd find himself fully rested upon receiving the doctor's touch. Although his body still bore the temporary soreness one would receive upon going past their limit, he'd still find himself brimming with unparalleled amounts of energy. This is a far cry from the goose's situation though, his condition quite the opposite as he spoke between labored honks.

"Take care of the chil'ren fer me Big Red, 'cause I'm bout as useful as a bump on uh log right now. There's uh big ol' energy bird tryna snatch 'em off, callin' 'Laner and I bad parents."

The small being of energy would slowly fade back into the ground, hoping to rest up underneath the island. He'd slowly float his way underneath the previous battlefield, keeping an ear out for any assistance an orphan may whistle out. He was completely drained, yes, but even a doctor will surpass his limits to save another.

Enter: The Crimson King

Scraps of clothes rippled in the air like a flag in wind, piece tearing away as he drifted quickly to aid his people, but first he had to wear their colors. Mercutio slung his claok over his back, covering the scorched and burned clothing. The Yonko of Adrestia seemed to have their hands full, but he assumed it was nothing they couldn't handle. The biggest concern and issue for him was his civilians and those whom haven't been trained. Artemis the Gadgeteer was in this battle and those who just wanted to exist in peace. Mercutio's clout only now was starting to be realized by the man, himself. Picking out those in the crowd he felt would be the most problematic, he addressed them and attempted to remember what was said before Abyssal so rudely cut them off...

"Oi, Bird!" he called out as his sensing came back stronger again as a pillow of smoke plumed from his smoke, puffing as he spoke. Standing from the air about fifteen meters up allowed him to observe the field, "Don't project your poor choices on me." he suggested, still holding his left arm with his right, but relaxing a bit and letting his arms drop down. "I never made these kids fight in war, they choose to, but it's not like they had much choice to begin with when you attack their home. The only thing I force upon them is to train and to grow because I not only see greatness in them, but because I would hate to see them hurt and I don't think I'm strong enough to ensure all their safety all the time... yet." he explained chuckling softly at the end, "I've never said this before, but they are family to me, all those who live here are." he explained to the battlefield, monologue'ing mostly at Manaia.

"These kids fight because they know I want nothing more than to make their dreams come true." he said in truth, "..and unlike you, I wouldn't let my family die.." he growled, not forgetting the pretentious words from before, "They follow me because... I keep my promises." he said, getting louder as his energy radiated, crashing onto the sands around him and pushing everything around him away with great force, even allies from the kinetic waves. "I think they follow me because they know, I'll be the one to always protect them." he raged, the energy that built within him as he spoke making him shake, "So, to answer your internally burning question... they follow me after everything I've done not out of fear... but because. Because they believe, that I will be the who can make dreams reality."

"I'll bless you with the grace you'd of never given me. This is because balance wishes it and fate will see it through. So, I tell you now in a position of power, go home and tell them what you've seen." he said with a plan in mind. "Tell them what happens when facing MY Haki." he suggested in truth and seriousness,

"This is the first decree... of the Crimson King."

The feeling of invigoration from Leeroy was nearly overwhelm and he was so focused on the Owl so much so that he barely noticed Leeroy's advance on him. thankfully, Leeroy was an ally, and thankfully, he really really was a smart Goose. Having been spent and completely exhausted, this new surge of energy made the pain in his arm null and void and he let it lie limp underneath the cloak he wore.

Heat began to radiate from his pours as the energy around him changed suddenly and silence fell over him as he drifted towards the ensnared woman with a gleam in his eye and a hint of anger.

Queen Harmonia, First of Her Name, Ruler of the Realm
Having travelled the world and seen all sorts of weird and wonderful things, Alana assumed she had seen everything. She was about to get contradicted to the extreme, however, when she spotted a giant white duck flapping about the battlefield and taking up their side. Well, he was still relatively small next to her and the rest, but for a duck? It was huge! And massively helpful, too. The stranger cleared the sand from their vision and allowed for an open battlefield, and shouted supporting words which leant themselves to Alana’s own rallying cry.

Near her other side, she turned to see Negan and Rosa right up there with her on the front lines and smirked slightly in response to the older sibling of the pair when he responded to her. It wasn’t very often she allowed others to call her by her given name, but the orphans were a clear exception. “Couldn’t have said it better myself.” She shrugged and laughed at Negan’s somewhat profane way of saying that they were going to drive Vitality off their island.

Once she fired off her attack right at their opposing ranks, she nodded her head once by way of understanding when she saw Negan raise his arm. She had yet to be in a combat situation with the kids, but she trusted their judgement. They had been to hell and back as they trained themselves, so she knew that whatever they decided to do, as long as it wasn’t active friendly fire, would benefit them. Whatever their agendas, they were here together on Elysium and it was their home. The horrible situation which had come before, for them to wind up on the islands, couldn’t be escaped. And although she knew her lover would never actively show his sorrow, she knew that he regretted what happened that day. It was a horrid accident that obliterated so many lives in an instant, all caused by a misunderstanding in one of Adrestia’s generals, Sonomi.

That was how the children came to Elysium, and since that day, Alana had been the loose mothering figure for them. It was why visible pride showed in her face when she saw Negan’s impressive explosive blast which barrelled right into the Vitality operative that leapt forward, withdrawing her staff and planting it back down at her side in the sand. “Good eye, Negan! If more opportunities like that come up, make sure to capitalise.” She commented, nodding at the siblings beside her and looking straight ahead again after double-checking her ranks. It felt bizarre, being a leader like this.

That being said, she had enough practise with her own band of idiots to look after…

Speaking of which, she was disappointed that they hadn’t arrived just yet. She wasn’t sure where they had ended up in the subsequent splitting of the island, and if they had responded in time before the alarm was raised. They might have been blocked inside their designated residential building. Tch, typical.

Raising her free hand up, palm facing the heavens, she loosed one rainbow orb like one would with a flare gun. It spiralled high into the air, and indicated to her followers where she was. Where there was a will, there was a way for them. After saving the group from certain death in a prison, they had followed her and called her boss ever since. To say that she wanted to sow the seeds of chaos in their world, she had managed to commit a lot of good deeds in her time.

In the midst of her rainbow flamethrower attack, the fire-wielding Loli noticed a familiar paper girl skirt around and away from her. “My bad, Lyra!! Just wanted to get our message across loud and clear.” She apologised, knowing all too well by now of her comrade’s skittish behaviour around fire. Well, if she wielded paper as part of her quirk, she’d be pretty nervy around anything with a heat source, that was for sure. With her attack finished and hopefully some good damage dealt out on the guy who decided to tank most of the hits for now, Alana turned and performed a small head-count of sorts. That was when the plump duck flew to her side and started talking about some intricacies of his quirk, as well as signs that he was about to use it.

The rainbow-haired woman nodded once firmly, showing that she understood. “Thanks. You’re being a great help for us to say that you’re just a by-stander in this, really.” She chuckled, recalling a duck hurtling towards them when the Vitality jet first zipped across their skies. With that information filed away, she turned back to the battle at hand. One of her own ranks, the fox-tailed Mairu, called out to one of Vitality’s operatives; the preachy owl woman from before. She was unsure of why the youth would do this, but it was his choice. Although she was commanding their forces in this instance, she wasn’t about to dictate what her comrades did or didn’t do if it was otherwise harmless to their cause. Maybe, with what the owl woman had been talking about before, this sort of out-cry from a kid (whose place wasn’t on a battlefield, apparently) could be a potential swaying factor for them.

She didn’t hold out much hope, and directed her attention down to her side when Mairu ran back with the little dragon, Artemis, on his shoulder. “I appreciate your help, both of you. I’m Ignacia, but you guys can call me Alana, if you like. For now, I want you both to stay on your guard and get ready to disrupt the invaders.” She gestured to herself when giving both potential names to be referred to as, surprised that both little ones hadn’t yet had a formal introduction to her of sorts. Mairu was a newer arrival, but she had spent time with Artemis in her art studio a few times prior to this mess. “You think you can do that for me?” She asked and smiled slightly in spite of herself, making sure to instil a sense of confidence and reassurance in these kids. If she appeared like she knew what she was doing, and feeling as if they could win… well, both would surely happen.

It seemed that her commander/ momma role was sticking, because she next had Eizen, another newer arrival on Elysium, come to her side. She hoped that he had heard her name from before because she didn’t want to keep repeating it at this point. She was unsure of what the boy could do, and he seemed unsure too. She flashed him one of her winning smiles and posed with her sorcerer’s staff before speaking, “I trust all of you to react and defend our home however you see fit!! Just shout if you want to work together on an attack.” She raised her voice somewhat for everyone to hear, and then inhaled deeply while casting her gaze back over at the enemies.

Unfortunately, the party pooper (AKA the owl lady who seemed to be way too far up on a high horse for Alana’s liking) had other ideas. She swooped in front of the guy who had originally charged in to tank the Loli’s flames, and spread out huge wings to stop the fire from getting much further. “Tsk…” She shook her head, tapping her fingers thoughtfully on her wizard’s staff. “Last I checked, this ain’t a war, owl lady! This is an invasion!!” She shouted, clearly through with being looked down upon simply for wanting to work with her island’s inhabitants. These children were here because they wanted to drive back those invading their home. Why was it anybody’s decision except theirs, whether they fought or not? It wasn’t Alana’s choice, and it definitely wasn’t some stranger’s choice, either.

A smoke man/ creature zipped forward to take Negan’s explosive blast, but it couldn’t have left the Vitality operative unscathed. Thus far, her troops were on an offensive bout, and she wasn’t about to have that cease. With Demetri successfully wrestling with Nala, the giant creature towering above all else, she had to focus on how best to go forth. Her rainbow fire had little to no effect on the preachy owl mother, so this made her purse her lips in deep thought. Someone else would have to deal with her, the Loli decided.

Then came the now-comforting southern drawl of one of her closest friends on Elysium; Leroy. She was relieved that he had been split into their section of the battlefield, because his abilities would be vital here if they needed any boosts or recovery. With Leroy giving the owl mother a piece of his mind and defending the fact that both him and Alana cared for all of these children, and a good ol’ dig at the fact that their hospital had been destroyed by the supposed ‘Heroes’ at the scene, the flaming Loli was feeling a touch better about the seemingly overwhelming situation. “Stay on your guard, Leroy. I trust you to go wherever you’re needed.” She addressed the ghostly goose when he appeared near Negan at her side, and gave him a grin which hopefully hid her indecision in this momentous situation.

Just as the owl preacher was starting to glow, quite the bizarre string of events unfolded. Something was whacked down in the middle of both sides, and with the way it started talking, it was… human. The invisible person…? In Alana’s next blink, the Taylors had fused at her side and a wash of energy was unleashed to surround them. What was that… it felt like an aura of protection of sorts, although she wasn’t quite sure. The white duck flapped forth and all of his ninja brothers were whispering the same command, which brought thoughts of what had been said previously flooding back to her.

Cover your ears if you don’t want to get deafened!!

The Loli mage hugged her staff close to her body and slammed both hands on her ears, looking through somewhat squinted eyes at what happened next. A wave of what looked like rainbow goo exploded out at Vitality, and lit them all up in spectral colours. God, that sound was horrific…! Alana lowered her hands and shook her head, thankful for the heads up to prevent herself from having to hear that bone-shattering sound in high definition.

God knows what damage it had done to their enemies. Her forces rallied into action, with Lyra running forth and loosing a huge host of papers that shot straight for the preachy owl mother who was all lit up in rainbow colours. With that much paper, it looked like her comrade was going for… some kind of restraining move? Well, Alana’s flames would only be counter-intuitive in the thick of things, it seemed. With the owl mother, smoke guy, the rainbowed invisible dude and bone guy all in close proximity, her fire would likely engulf Lyra’s paper in a heartbeat. No, she had to find another target…

Aha, the fire guy up on his platform in the air who challenged her earlier. Perfect. Honestly, with everything happening she had almost forgotten about his existence if not for that annoying little buzz of his voice from earlier. “Be careful what you wish for, kiddo. The adults are fighting.” She called back to the guy floating skywards, raising up her staff and pointing it right at him. She could totally go for another blast… easy peasy.

Her four wisps of spectral flame were loaded into her staff once more and fired right up at where the kid was flying, once again with staggering range. She didn’t get much chance to see what the results of her attack were, because huge energy explosions rattled the island before her own beloved appeared on their side of the fence, so to speak. Watching as Leroy spent his remaining energy to replenish Mercutio’s, she motioned for the goose to come to her side while her boyfriend was giving some of his speech no jutsu to the enemy. “I’ll watch your back.” She assured her goose friend, and then turned with her body taut to face down the enemy once more.

Vitality had picked a fight with the wrong people.
