The Master
The prelude to battle, an exhilarating feeling that only those that have experience would know the feeling. For someone like Abyssal, a woman that is often praised as the #1 hero of the world. She knew this feeling, the art of battle brought the woman so much excitement. Often not a woman of many expressions, a smile was kept on her face for she knew, this battle was going to be one for the ages. Her men and women were prepared. Not an office known for taking in many, she normally kept her trust with Huntress and Chameleon. While Huntress was a wild card, she was trusted in her skill and ability. It helped that there was a vested interest on her part as the bounty on the heads of Mercutio and his people.

A new addition had been added this year in the recent graduate of U.A. Sub-Zero Ego, while it wasn't a name the woman was exactly fond of, the woman could admit that the boy was proving himself. He reminded her a lot of herself and in the case of this upcoming battle, he had a vested interest in taking down Mercutio, a moxie that the woman respected. These three along with herself were strong, however, they were fighting an entire country. The country was rather small, but it was a country nonetheless. Abyssal acknowledged the fact that Mercutio was a thread, but that made her all the more invested to take his head to WISH for the bounty.

With such small numbers, she had her secretary search for five hopefuls that fit their ideals and wanted to prove themselves. This expedition was none like any of them would face, but they were adamant about being capable of being able to prove of worth to Vitality. Abyssal didn't quite care, too much, she was confident in her three heroes, at the very least. For the time being, her main focus was them being prepared.

After a day of planning, searching, and preparing for what was to come, the famed office was ready. Soaring through the sky, their mode of transportation ended up being a large sleek black jet. For them all, the ride to the island that is Elysium would prove to be rather smooth. Unlike most planes, the time it would take for them to cover the distance between Okinawa and Elysium was significantly cut to only a matter of hours.

Jet

Nearing the island, Abyssal left her seat to head to the portion of the hanger that seated everyone aside from Abyssal and Chameleon. The five hopefuls given the chance would be seated either to the left or right. Huntress was seated to the left, opposite of Sub-Zero, everyone dressed in their hero attire. For the five prospects that have joined them, were they to not have their own hero attire, they were given a jet black suit with a face mask that fit their sizes.

"Alright... keep your ears open because I will not have this woman repeat herself. Speak." The hero spoke as she to a screen that drops down from the ceiling. Abyssal's assistant would appear on the screen. "O-okay... As you know, this is a mission to hunt down and capture Mer..." The woman was cut off by a rough cough that came from Abyssal, whom simply stood still. "R-right... The mission is to hunt down and capture the... Cri..Crimson fucker. This will not be an easy battle and we are taking it to their own battlefield, his island. For some of you, this will be your first battle. Abyssal knows you may have jitters and she appreciates you all offering your services. If successful, we will bring down a tyrant like no other and set a precedent for the other offices to follow. Prepare yourselves, for we dock in a matter of minutes."

With that, the woman offered a nod and her wishes before the screen turned black and ascended back into the ceiling of the jet. It was an early morning for them all, 4:24 am, to be specific. The jet kept hidden above the clouds, using it as a cover as they neared the island. It would only be a matter of minutes before they were to arrive, close to half an hour. Giving them all to calm their news and prepare, Abyssal made way back to her seat and began to prepare.

Once the period had passed, they descended from the clouds and began to lower along a patch of the island that was along the shore. A door opened for them all to make their exit, with Abyssal being the last of them to make her exit. "It is time we introduce ourselves. Prepare yourselves!" Placing both palms together, the air around her began to heat up to the point until there was a mass of lava in her grasp. Firing the blast, she hit a portion of the island where the fire would spread the fastest.

"Once Mercutio arrives, spread out and begin to take down whoever comes across your path."

Kame House sat between the "Police" station and the Hospital where Goose, Mercutio's Medical Adviser, resides. The two of them had been planning to work on means for OARS, their new friend who rested in the Harbor currently, and his reconstruction. The guy was a fearsome face, so it was only logical for him to be worked in slowly, but very rarely did life go according to plan. With that and Nala, Demetri's new girlfriend, it was busy around Elysium and many were off doing their own things. Everyone had something to work on and everyone had time to relax if the need arose. For once they could truly due what they please as and when they pleased; they all could eat drink and be merry to their heart's content thanks to Mercutio's new connection with the Bookkeeper. The man helped him to find good avenues to buy bulk food for everyone on the island and now with Mercutio's limits surpassed and teleportation being at his disposal it only would be easier. For once, there wasn't too much planned ahead of the one task in Mercutio's mind which, was helping give a bit of humanity back to the friend he imprisoned for years, Oars and currently, Mercutio sat alone and awake reading. Page for page of his manga's most recent chapters as he switched between sips of tea and drags of weed.

Surprisingly happy and rather well adjusted orphans and immigrants alike moved around the small amounts of shops and such as they readied for the morning. Their blind or pure trust in Mercutio was unwavering past the eve of all the news. Thanks to how early it was, only those with insomnia were really awake and he found it easier to read when there weren't bodies constantly moving about.

"My, my.. Sanji will never learn with Nami, I swear." he giggled as he read, "...eventually, you'd think-.. You can fly?" he muttered as he picked up on multiple signatures, but most of all Ezra. "Did you come with... Her?" he said as he focused on the body signatures. The strongest of them all, that which stood out from all others, resonated a heat like no other. "I can only assume so, but I never realized so many people were in Vitality... I doubt it will differ the percentages."

"I like my odds... 42% isn't bad." he scoffed with a laugh as he tried to play off what he assumed would eventually happen. 'I'll never be able to reach Ezra with words now... plus, I did pretty much rob him..' he thought, laughing it off and stood. A roll of the shoulders, a stretch of arms to the sky and he walked to the stair, beginning to levitate and find his lady sleeping upstairs and gave her a kiss. "Didn't think you'd be asleep... maybe 42% was to generous, heh.." he mumbled as though he knew something like this would happen.

"Eh, Baby Sister... hopefully here I don't let you down, hmm?" he said, rubbing his golden bracelet between his fingers as he did. A realization woke him up from his daze and he took the fresh air through his nose, exhaling slowly out his mouth. He didn't wait to grab his phone, but struggled with what to say exactly.

Peter, it's time bud...

The text was short and sweet and sent on a delay delivery. Things plotted into place and Mercutio played a bit of music as he watched the grouping of 'Heroes' talk to themselves. It got him curious and he pushed for the door... but he was confident he knew what they were talking aboutl it had to be predictable conversation for the situation, you go here, you go there. It was what Adrestia did to after all, but shock would set in and rage would fill Mercutio's heart. Anger would bring tears to his eyes and fear would reverberate within every nerve of his body as he watched the person, confirmed to him as Abyssal, throw magma at the Hospital. What goes on in a Hero's mind for them to purposely attack what one would initial presume to be a civilian outpost? From what was know of Mercutio, he had "slave orphans" and she blindly attacked a vital hub. good tactic, ruthless, but not very Heroic... it was now confirmed for Mercutio. None of them would live if Mercutio were to die and that fear became his fuel. It was like he was a kid again, unable to control himself and letting his emotion show on the outside through the fluctuating waves of his quirk. As his Mother always said, "It's dangerous to wear your Soul on the outside, Crimson or not, Love.", but it wasn't till later in life, if not right now, that he understood what she meant entirely.

The rapidly, if not instantaneously, the lava turned to ice as the heat evaporated from it and frost hastily coating over.

"Y-..You'd... attack.. innocent people? And--, you still claim to be a Hero? I have reason why I was doing what I did, but what's your fucking excuse you stupid fucking cunt?" he said, spitting as he spoke. Seething anger for the first time in years, back when he was a teen. Back when he had scar tissue covering his brain and he had no grip of who or what he was. At this point, he couldn't keep himself from cursing with such vulgarity, but after hearing what she said, after seeing what she did, it was easy.

Mercutio understood how it could sound hypocritical, but not wanting events to explode into World Wars was the driving factor behind the Africa Election, but Abyssal.. she was just, ruthless...

"I'm your opponent... you will not lay a finger on anyone else here." he said as he pushed his right arm passed his cloaks part and waved it in front of them. It was now he felt he could show what he really could do. Even to the best eyes, the area 400 meters in any direction filled with crimson.

"Guess I won't be needing this today, hmm?" he said as he flung his cloak off himself and onto Kame House's roof. Merc stood in air, above them by about five meters, with Kame House to his back at this point and would openly reveal both of his arms. "Forgave myself, got my arm back." he said with a smile, rolling it softly as he prepared for what was to come, "For those of you she somehow roped in, if you hurt ANY of my people, you'll pray I kill you." he said staring each of them in the face one by one before resting his gaze on Abyssal.

"You don't fight fair, you fight to win, hmm?" he asked, mumbling through him with his thumb in his mouth. Biting hard enough, he drew some blood and scribbled a line on his palm. "If you are to remain the #1 Hero, the ideals of Heroics will fall by the way side. Your actions here show you are no Hero and those who follow you are worse there off..." he explained, dropping the philosophy he had spoken of in many years since Elysium was first being founded, but today it was to be brought back.

"You won't care to listen nor read what I have of Oni, of WISH and all the corrupt that was and still is..." he added.

"Wither."

Mercutio had made up his mind... if it came to it, neither Abyssal or he, himself, would walk away from today.

Accompany the world's number one hero several other elites to take down the world's most wanted man. Aside from being the most extravagant stint he'd taken, it was also the most idiotic. Suicidal to an extent. With a high chance of not making it out alive. The rewards were great, but did they out-weigh the risk? Nope. Rainer sighed, staring up at the ceiling of the aircraft he was in. Too late to pussy out now. Unless he wanted to dive out of this aircraft parachute-less of course - assuming no one tried to stop him. But regardless, his decision was locked in. Even if he had regrets, the bounty hunting youth couldn't act on them.

It was a good thing though that he had few, if any. He knew what he was getting into when he signed up for this job. And it wasn't the first time he risked death, that was the life he lead. His good friend Pann had moved on from the business, settling down with someone he loved instead. So Rainer no longer had anything or anyone tying him down with regrets in the event that he died. As it was presently, Rainer had nothing to do. Besides emptily chasing bounties and jobs, there wasn't much to do. He attempted to truly to do something recently, challenging his conviction to kill others in America. To his disappointment, he came out completely empty handed. He knew he had it in him, and he'd done it before, but he wanted to stomp out any weakness within himself. This mission served as his second shot. If it was anything close to the hunt he was told it would be, then there was plenty to test himself with. He couldn't overdo it though. Overestimate his own abilities, and he'd find himself resting down under.

Some noise prompted Rainer to glance down, over at one side of the hangar. Hmm? It was abyssal. The sight of her was still a bit of a shock to Rainer, causing him to sit up straight. What exactly the reason of her arrival was, he didn't know, but he awaited any word. As he had thought, she caught the groups attention by speaking - as if her presence wasn't a good enough way to make someone listen. A screen slid out from somewhere, with a woman on it. She relayed information on the job, mostly consisting of stuff they know. It wasn't a briefing, but more so a refresher. A way to prep them for the oncoming event.

Here we go.

The jet finally landed, adrenaline pumping in Rainer's body. He glanced around at the other people in the hangar, the various differing faces and appearances. Rainer himself was wearing the usual clothing he wore when doing jobs; a simple brown coat over a long sleeved white shirt and some loose dark blue pants. It wasn't anything over the top, and it allowed him to easily use his quirk. He felt a bit self-conscious though, taking note of one of them. The guy was dressed in some hyper-futuristic cyber suit, and Rainer could only imagine its functionalities. He put these thoughts to the back of his mind though, stepping out of the jet and onto the island. They were near the shores, the place looking relatively peaceful. For all of the conflict that would arise soon, it didn't seem like a half bad place. Rainer was about to take out a cigarette when he heard Abyssal shout something from behind them. He just barely turned in time to see her lob a large mass of lava in the distance. Rainer didn't even speak, trying to process what just happened. Uh..aight. People like Abyssal were really on a different playing field, and Rainer couldn't do anything about it but observe.

Rainer reached back into his pocket and ruffled around for that cigarette, looking off in the distance towards the magma. He found it, bringing it up to his mouth before searching for a lighter. To his dismay, he didn't get to light it though. 'Once Mercutio arrives,' she said. That guy really didn't take his damn time, that was for sure. Once more, Rainer paused midway through lighting his cigarette as he looked up to see a man. A crimson red glow radiated off of him and spread out for as far as Rainer could even see. The pressure he gave off was comparable to that of even Abyssal. He begun speaking, threatening them all as he looked at them each one by one. Rainer felt a shiver down his spine as the guy looked at him. Hey, hey, this Mercutio guy is pretty scary in person. And like that, the guy flying not far from them spoke words to commence the war. Rainer shuffled back subconsciously, smoky wisps floating off his arms and collecting into a mass next to him. Like an animal raising its fur, Rainer was preparing to fight.

Derge was out running around the island like had been almost every night since he had discussed the subject with Artemis a while back. He had never actually taken her up on the offer to go on walks together at night but he had gone out by himself. Derge was simply too socially awkward to make any relationships actually work with anyone on the island. He had never been so alone in his life. His family were all horrible and deserved the deaths the received but he still missed them or maybe he just missed their presence. It gave him something to do, even if that something was hate and fear.

The frequent late night runs, hell his entire stay on the island gave him time to think. He thought about how he could improve himself as well as other things. In fact, it was the other things that occupied the majority of his time. Depression, anxiety, and loneliness were generally the big three in his self-described 'others' category of thought. Derge knew he was going crazy or maybe he was already crazy. How would he ever actually be able to tell? He was crazy after all with thoughts racing through his mind constantly.

While most of his time was spent in his "others' category he did manage to get some work done. It wasn't nearly enough for the amount of time he had been on the island but it was something. Derge's late night runs proved fruitful, increasing his power ever so slightly since his fight...no the orphan's fight with Mercutio. He called it "Dragon's Will Power," he said muttering under his breath along the shoreline. Derge was wide-eyed looking like some kind of mental patient that had escaped from a psych ward all as the spray from the ocean gently kissing the side of his face.

Running was all that Derge had from the life he had made on the islands. It was one of the last things that kept him from falling into something darker. It was an abyss. He ran along the edge of it every day, trying to outrun it as the ground under his feet continued to steadily crumble away. For a time Derge wondered why Mercutio hadn't picked him that day. He no longer wondered why. Derge could see why. No matter how powerful the light was that his quirk allowed him to generate it would never be able to shine through the abyss that surely awaited him one day. Mercutio may have been blind at the time but it was obvious he could see what Derge couldn't.

The ground shook causing Derge to stumble. He looked down as he fell, falling into that black abyss he had been running from his whole life. Derge let out a gasp that turned into a momentary scream until it was quickly muffled into nothingness by the wet sand. It encased his face, going into his nose and mouth. He couldn't breathe through the heavy, wet substance. Derge laid there as the darkness slowly started to come for him. It was all fine, this was how it was supposed to be. No, no this wasn't it. Derge pushed himself off of the sand, sinking in a bit as he did so. He opened his mouth and gasped for air trying to catch his breath. Wiping down the sides of his nose with his forefinger and index finger, Derge blew the sand out of his nose the best he could.

Derge sat there on his knees, his bum firmly placed on the back of his legs as a light glowed off to the side of him. He paid the glow little attention still lost in the darkness of his own head. Glancing over Derge finally noticed the glow that had been in the corner of his eye since he had fallen. The glow of orange that was a telltale sign of a fire and a big one at that. If at all possible, Derge seemed even more wide-eyed and bewildered at the fact that such a large fire seemed to be spreading across the island. It wasn't just a fire but an explosion or impact that caused a fire, otherwise, Derge wouldn't have faceplanted into the sand.

He lifted himself off of the cool wet sand and turned towards the fire, heading towards the glow. Stopping, Derge paused, wondering why he had started walking towards it in the first place. He had no one he cared for. No one was in danger that Derge couldn't live without. His shoulders slumped as he stood there in place with no idea what he should or what he wanted to do next. Derge started moving again, in a different direction. He wasn't moving away from the fire in an attempt to get away from it but rather he had another destination in mind.

Once Derge reached the general area he could hear voices and see figures in the darkness. There was shouting, much like there had been the night his adoptive family had been killed. Derge remembered sitting in his room hearing it all through the walls. And then the explosion and flash of crimson. There it was again but much bigger this time. The entire area was filled with his crimson energy. The flash of the bright light was significantly less effective on Derge in terms of blinding than it would have been on others around Mercutio. The flash allowed Derge to see it, a glimpse of hope. Of course, it only made sense, they had to have had some way of getting on the island. A plane there was a plane. That meant one thing and one thing only, Derge for the first time had a possible way off the island. The crimson light of Mercutio drove the darkness away, in more than one way.

Derge watched on from nearby as Mercutio yelled. He seemed furious at the newcomers. There wasn't much if any interaction that Derge had with Mercutio but he had never seen him this angry. Hell Derge was actually to see Mercutio back in one piece. It had been so long since Derge had actually seen the crimson beast. There were things that Derge was overhearing that he knew he shouldn't be. Still, he was frozen there looking on as if he was watching some kind of accident or incident without a thought about what it could mean for his own safety. Number one hero? Oni? "Who the fuck is Oni?" Derge questioned, muttering under his breath.

Mordred was pumping iron with both arms one after the other over his head and then back to his shoulder. As he worked, sweat ran up his skin past his face to soak his hair and/or fall to the floor. Suspended by his tail from a crossbeam that supported the roof of the small dwelling Mordred call his recently, Mordred dropped the weights and then his body to the ground where he landed on his feet with a thud. The floor was smashed down to its foundations in several places.

Mordred's face was missing and he was only half dressed, so before heading out, he wrapped his face in oddly colored bandages and donned his cloak. The sort of commotion overhead prompted the Gecko man to equip himself for battle. Despite Mordred's perfect vision in the dark, early hours of the morning, it did not seem necessary with the red energy displays coupled with the burning fires. Mordred stepped briskly toward the source of the commotion, but the chaos caused by the arrival of Vitality prompted the lizard man to leap skyward toward a nearby building and cling to its wall before ascending to its roof. Bypassing the stream of people fleeing the chaos, Mordred leaped rooftops and scaled walls to quickly make his way to the battle lines.

Mordred

Once he arrived, Mordred did not back down in the face of the force he would have to contend with. He seemed mentally prepared for the moment and experienced in these sorts of things.

"Generally, I take my time in passing judgement, but any 'hero' who uses their quirk without regard for the casualties they may cause just to stop a 'villian' is not worthy of the mantle. Any who would align themselves with such an individual are equally unworthy. Prepare to lose in equal measure to those that have been made victim by your actions and the actions of those you work for."

His southern accent wasn't as strong as he made an effort to be clear and concise. Mordred crouched on all fours while his tail serpentined behind him in anticipation. The gecko man's inhuman eyes suggested an equally eager desire to carry out his form of justice.

Tapu wasn't sure what to be feeling, sitting inside of a piece of technology that he had never believed could imagine. A sleek machine that was nothing compared to the hulking beasts he had read about as a child was currently carrying him through the air towards yet another battle. Even after escaping from the horrors of his home nothing had really changed but the surroundings, and it was a sobering thought to the young soldier.

He lifted his head as his new commander entered the section that they were all seated in. He only knew one of the other members, that being his old leader Manaia, but he had avoided speaking to her the entire time. The rest were complete wild card to him, but in his current state of mind that worked perfectly for him.

She told them to listen before directing their attention to a screen, on which appeared another woman who began actually giving them the mission information. He had been told the very basics when 'recruited' but it was good to hear exactly what was going to happen. It was an effort to capture a single man, given the delightful name of the 'Crimson Fucker'. They were headed to an island that was apparently owned by him, which Tapu took to mean there would be either strong defences or more than just the one person to deal with. Both he was fairly confident in being able to deal with, especially in a team, but he knew better than to get cocky.

The rest was simple fluff trying to make them feel better, and he was able to tune most of it out. He didn't need to feel better about what was going to happen, that wasn't going to improve his strength or ability in the slightest. Instead he set to checking the suit he was given when he had agreed to help, making sure nothing that would hinder him unexpectedly was out of place. The black suit fit snugly without hindering movement, a good outfit to have even if it wasn't exactly his style. He had also put his old gauntlet over his right arm sleeve.

He looked down at the mask in his hand, simple black like the others, but with a simple change. The band that would hold it to his face was replaced with his maroon bandanna, something that wasn't really necessary but felt right for some reason. Knowing that they were getting relatively close he slid it on and tightened the strap, affixing it securely. He didn't know why the mask was really necessary, but in case it was more important than he realised he went along with it. Prepared he closed his eyes and attempted to keep himself relaxed.

As time flew by and they reached their target, he started to move again. They swooped down from the sky toward the island, a door opening to let them out. Tapu was among the first couple to exit, waiting or orders until Abyssal made her exit as well. She decided to start things off with a bang, so to speak, firing a bomb of lava that would potentially cause massive destruction. He knew that morally that was a questionable thing to do, but in his mind letting evil run loose was far worse and so he said nothing. Her orders were also fairly odd, suggesting that she planned to take on the actual mission herself while they dealt with the defences instead of focusing their efforts, but once again he didn't disagree.

Mercutio did show up, radiating energy and anger, going on about how they were terrible people and if they hurt anyone he would kill them and all the rest. Tapu was shocked when he mentioned the being known as Oni, but tried to put aside his own personal feelings on that matter and stay silent.

A couple of other people showed up, and he assumed that they were the reason him and the other recruits had been brought along. One was a lizard like boy that started spouting basically the same thing Mercutio had said, while another was more normal looking and also more direct. It seemed that he was just a soldier like Tapu was, simply on a different side. Such is life.

"How poetic." Standing alongside his boss and his co-workers. Ezra couldn't quite wipe the smile that was stretch across his face. The news of Mercutio's bounty has caused waves throughout the offices here and Japan. Ezra sure as hell didn't expect the bounty to come about, but he was ecstatic nonetheless. Ever since Mercutio fuck him over, took his bounty, and assaulted him, Ezra had been waiting for a chance to pay the motherfucker back. This was exactly what he needed, the fact that his entire office was doing so as well was just the cherry on top at this point.

After spending some time setting up, preparing, rallying the troops so to say, they were ready. This was to be Ezra's first mission working alongside with Abyssal and the rest of Vitality. Huntress ended up being a rather big surprised in the grand scheme of it all as he had never come across her. Chameleon, he works around the office the most, so he saw him every now and then. Along with them were five hopefuls willing to put their lives on the line for the sake of joining the office and becoming official heroes. Ezra was fine with it and one of them were familiar, as long as they stayed out of his way, he had no problem with them coming along.

Their numbers were low compared to what Mercutio had, but there was no doubt in his mind that they were going to return the victors of this battle. Mercutio had to be stopped, him being the one to do it just seemed poetic at this point. He just had to watch out for Abyssal as she probably wanted to fight him just as much as he did. Thankfully, he was upfront with the woman and they agreed that as long as he stayed out of her way when shit went down, there was no problem.

The plane ride there was smooth. Ezra spent the majority of his time calming his nerves. He had to be in the right head space for this upcoming battle. The island of Elysium was a mystery at this point. Hell, Ezra didn't even know the damn thing existed, but that would explain why Mercutio was in so much debt. WISH had to have footed the majority to pay for the island. The last time he said that the bounty would clear his debt, so it was possible WISH were waiting for that before they put out the bounty for his head.

A what a glorious bounty it was. Ezra eyes near pop out his head when he first saw it. A bounty such as that would have been enough to make any person's live set. Ezra would have sought after Mercutio himself, but he knew the advantage would not have been his, not with the men Mercutio had. This meant he had to work to his strengths, work with his office. This battle was not going to be easy, Ezra knew this and he was willing to do whatever it took to make sure Vitality came out on top. He knew the risk that came with this, hell, he even called his mum beforehand.

It wasn't a sad, depressing "If I die, I love you" blah, blah, blah. Ezra kept it real with her. He's going into a battle that could end with his death. His mother, being a former villain, she understood and told him to kick ass. That is all he could ever ask the woman at this point. As he thought on this, Abyssal's secretary would give them a passionate speech or whatever the deal had been, Ezra didn't exactly care, he had to stay focus on what was most important. If they were going to do this, they need the element of surprise on their side. Which is why they came at dawn, landing on the shores of the island. Ezra kept a few feet to Abyssal's right as the woman sent off a warning shot.

The shot in question hit a building that looks to may have been the hospital. Which was a bit odd, did he even have enough people for a Hospital? Just how many fucking people this asshole ave? He questioned just about the same time that Mercutio would fly his way to their direction. It had appeared he received a new arm because that shit wasn't there the last time. Questioning if he was still blind, Ezra was interested to see just how this battle was going to go at this point.

Upon arrival, the man began to criticize Abyssal's choice of attacking the hospital. Mind you, she sent that with no real direction set, at least, that is what Ezra assumed. Either way, it was only a warning shot, but it is possible someone could have ended up hurt. Nonetheless, Mercutio spoke up, threatened them, and spoke of Oni and Wish. Things Ezra didn't give much a damn about at this point. Him wanting to only fight Abyssal was annoying, but Ezra was willing to respect it.

"Speak of harming innocent people... But tell us again how you got a 30 Million dollar bounty on your head? Biggest fucking pot, calling the kettle black." Ezra spoke up, as it was his nature to say something at this point. A part of him wanted to goat the man, he wanted Mercutio to come at him. Ezra was prepared this time, so whatever attack the fucker had aimed for him, Ezra was prepared to combat it with his own.

The Never Sleeping Vampire Duck
What's that...? DUCK INVASION!

A flock of birds-- No, those are ducks-- had been at it for hours now. Hundreds of miles being glided over like a breeze by the fowl who took over the sky. Among a flank of twenty black ducks, each one mysteriously having a thin line of white paint messily drawing over their eyes to resemble a ninja's bandana, there was a single, large, plump duck that soared with his head nearly bobbing off to sleep. Wings were stretched out far and wide, the wind taking him forward rather than putting the effort to actually fly. There were slight sounds of muffled arguements and jokes coming from behind the big ass duck. All was well, all was peaceful, that is until a jet nearly cooked half of them.

"PETER'S PALLET, WHAT THE HELL," shouted a large, nameless duck who dropped twenty or so feet as the wing of a speeding jet nearly cut him in two. The rest of the flock quacked a harmony of questions, each one glaring daggers at the jet that was slowing it's speed. Shirou, having watched this bizarre encounter with the feathers on his head puffing out in stress, wasn't focused on the ducks spazzing out over nearly dying. Instead, his eyes were glued to the jet that had zipped past and it's destination; a remote, friendly looking island with what he could see from the clouds as a hostpital, a series of homes, and a possible few buildings of... offices? Departments?

It looked civilized, homey, and certainly lived in.

"Check it out, guys! There ain't a single airport, but that jet's slowin--"

KA-BLAM!

He took a sharp intake of air at the billowing smoke that poured out from a hit area within the island, the jet having attacked such a remote area. What were they thinking?! Who would do such a thing?! Were these people villains,,,?! Unable to think of a reason for such a chaotic, deadly surprise attack, Shirou turned toward his flock of dedicated team. The tip of his wing raised up in a silent issue of tactic, and each duck instantly stopped their prattling with one another like a herd of mice. Several black eyes turned toward Shirou's raised wing, and as soon as his wing was snapped toward the sea like a signal all twenty ducks, Shirou not included, took a sudden nose dive toward the ocean.

The leader of the flock kept his head cooled by picking up in his flight. He soared forward through the night sky flipping and diving through clouds to remain as hidden as possible from those who were possibly panicking down below. Only an idiot would jump head first into a situation he knew nothing about, so instead Shirou scopped the area keeping himself high in the air above the currently landing jet, and now what appears to be a crimson fog...

CRIMSON MIST!?

Minty eyes widened to fat dinner plates as reality sunk in that this wasn't some mere civilization, but the headquarters of Crimsoul and his crew. Shirou, admittedly, knew next to nothing about the reknowned man aside from the deeds he had helped with in the past. Unknown to most, Shirou had been missing for the past eight months being stowed away in evil farmer clutches, so he had no clue about the reasons for attacking in his eyes an innocent orginization.

Shirou took a risky dive toward the island aiming to land atop of a building that wasn't sorched from the blast brought by a familiar quirk. He knew his heroes having been an aspiring one once upon a time, but with time there are changes. Shirou considered himself more... of a neutral party. He gave help where it was needed, and didn't bother if he thought it out of his reach. This, though, was ridiculous. Clicking his tongue, the odd duck perched atop of a building and eyed the jet slowly releasing its inhabitants, and he couldn't be more disappointed.

"Ezra...? Right, he graduated, 'n was recuited to Vitality. I ain't a U.A kid no more, hell with that, but the hell're these people doin'?" He watched in horror as the number one hero made her face known, too. Her voice was like hearing a common phrase. She was famous world wide, extremely so, and he would have to live under a rock to not know who she was. His bill clamped tight as a billowing stream of red and orange snorted from the nostrils on his bill out of sheer anger. After everything he had just witnessed it took everything in his stocky feathered body to not blast these heroes with a taste of their own medicine. Calming himself, Shirou glanced around the area noting that the crimson was originating from the man himself, Mercutio, standing atop of a building. Was he able to fly, he wondered?

"Heroes or not, these folk ain't got enough sense to keep their heads out of their asses for two God damn minutes. How confident do ya' gotta be to fire at the innocent! I know how you heroes be thinkin'. Y'all probably thought anyone associatin' with Crimsoul is some kinda dirty villain?! What sorta mind set is that," he stomped his foot completely bristled to see such an unheroic act. They were heroes...! They were people that he actually looked up to! He was taught growing up that even those with a touch of darkness could be swayed, and that death was a last resort in any situation. To witness the number one hero of all people among a sea of faces he recognized was a disappointment.

Shirou spread his wings and snorted a colorful stream of blue and purple mist from his bill that mixed with the crimson aura that filled the area. It was weird to watch, but Shirou didn't have the time to sit around and marvel at a mysterious foggy crimson mist.

Thirty million bounty? Blinking at this accusation from Ezra, Shirou bristled and shouted out in defense of who knows what, "Bounty on his head or NOT that isn't an EXCUSE to FIRE AT THE INNOCENT! Politically speakin' yer' no better than a bloody terrorist for mindlessly shooting at an island of innocent people who are sleepin'! It's four in the damn morning." Boy, that is one passionate, angry duck.

The hollow eyes of Leroy had been staring at the ceiling for hours now, the floating goose having been unable to get a decent night's sleep for the past week or so. So many different thoughts rushed throughout his head, the majority dealing with the recent advancement of his quirk. A transparent body, the ability to float, and the complete lack of having to eat or breathe. It had definitely made certain things a bit complicated with his chicken nurse of a girlfriend as well, the recent mutation having put a damper on their feathery sex life. While the goose was "kind" in more ways than one, certain forms of kindness were impossible to show without the ability to touch your loved one.

tssss.

....

tsssssssss.

Leroy's lament was cut short, the quiet sizzling enough to snatch his attention from the eerie silence of night. A peculiar, luminescent goo had begun to seep in from the ceiling, its mere contact burning away whatever it had the displeasure of touching. But it seemed as soon as the magma began dripping through, the intense heat had been completely frozen into orange icicles. The alarmed Goose would peep his head through the ceiling of the hospital, greeted by a sea of orange sherbet. Although initially flabbergasted, the thick concentration of Mercutio's mist was a crimson tell all. He'd pop back into his nest, doing his damnedest to wake up his clucking beloved.

"Cuhmiller, wake up!"

Panic spiked throughout his Southern fried voice, the pearl-feathered chicken wiping her eyes with the tip of her wings. Although she'd try and coo out a "go back to bed, baby," her attempt to calm her hysteric boyfriend would fall on deaf ears.

"Darlin', wrangle up the crew and start checkin' up on the patients. I gotta head out and help Big Red!"

While the hyper intelligent chicken nurse didn't exactly take too kindly to the grating squawking, it paled in comparison to the fury she had at Leroy darting towards battle. He was supposed to be a doctor but he'd been running around like a god damned super hero. She was tired of the games, tired of the training, and absolutely tired of his new quirk.

"You go out this hospital, and I won't be here when you get back."

"Now now darlin', where would you even go to."

Tension thick enough to drown a fish radiated through the chilled air, the fowl couple having a silent stare down before Leroy phased his way through the walls of the hospital. The feathered nurse would leave their nest in a huff, going on to check on the patients.

The goose darted towards the immense presence of crimson, his ethereal form swimming effortlessly through the ground. While he couldn't exactly see while underneath the earth, he could at least As he was now entirely a construct of energy, the ghostly goose was now a bit more sensitive to such dense concentrations of pure energy. It wasn't before the bubblegum physician would pop up straight from the ground, floating a good five meters from the ground beside the Crimson Hecker. Feint images of the scenery behind him could be seen through his translucent pinkness, a murky conglomeration of dark browns, greens, and one piece of bright orange.

Standing before them was an assorted league of armor, black suits, and face masks. Although the swarm claimed heroes, this farce was marred by the haphazard destruction which accompanied their actions. Had humanity devolved to where thoughtless destruction of innocent women and children to smoke out a bounty was an action befitting of a hero? Not even just any hero, but the supposed #1 hero? The mere thought of this being found remotely acceptable left a sour pit in Leroy's stomach. As far as he could tell, those "heroes" were a slew of savage lemmings marching on to their inevitable death.

"Now look, I'm the doctor 'round these parts and if y'all don't go ahead and git, were gonna have a pro'lem. Now, I lit'trally can't harm y'all 'cause of muh quirk, but I'll be gosh damned if y'all are gonna be attackin' both muh kids and muh patients."

The small seal underneath the Doctor's hat meant this to be a lie, of course, but the kind doctor wasn't exactly concerned about formality. He knew it was good for one strong maneuver, and misleading the invaders about his threat level was a sure fire way into lowering their guard for later on. Was lying the kindest thing to do? Probably not. Heck, Leroy even dropped the strongest expletive he could muster up. But common courtesy was struck dead the moment these so called "heroes" decided to attack a gosh darn hospital.

Many hours before the attackers had decided to rudely make their presence known, Lyra had left the hospital of Elysium. Not because she was injured or anything, but because she had to grab a spare face mask to use until she can get an extra one of her spare normal, studded face masks. Feeling the fabric drape over her lips felt rather comforting again, though it was starting to a reach a point where Lyra started to question the need of having this cover in the first place. After all, she had shown her face multiple times, and both times no one had treated her any differently. That necessarily didn't mean she was treated well, but they really had no care for badly her own face was damaged. At this point it was just having the mask for a peace of mind in a sense, and she was already heading back to her own quarters to continue her own self-training.

Closing the door to her own room, which was nothing but a room with a bed and papers littering almost every corner of the floor in a scattered manner. Walking through her own room while meticulously following a very odd path of avoiding her own paper, she hopped onto her bed and sat with her legs crossed. Closing her own eyes, Lyra started to continue the little training method she had been undergoing ever since leaving the Dark Continent. Letting her mind go blank, she just casually starts controlling all of the paper within the room, floating all of them and moving them in various directions, letting herself go into a zen like state while letting her imagination and calmness wash over her. Each individual sheet seemed to float about in their own manner, almost intentionally as Lyra had been working on new ways to adapt her own powers, and the only way to do that was to increase her general capabilities.

Though, soon enough, due to having been burning the candle at both ends, she found herself fading into the void of sleep. Though having lost consciousness, her own training persisted as each individual paper just seemed to hover about in her own abode, though ceasing their motions as Lyra's mind was as still as possible. If all truly went well, she would have woke up in the morning to continue her own sheet experimentation. Sadly, this was not the case, as a very cold sensation rattled her body down her soul to the very core. Ever since becoming more attune to life energies, she could at least feel when something was off. Especially when Mercutio's power seemed to surge for a moment in order to cool down the lava.

Picking herself up and gathering her own paper, the tired woman would reach out for her robe while looking out of the window, noticing the hospital in the distance covered in what seemed to be lava!? Only for a split second, as she watched it turn to frost all at once. Eyes fully widened, Lyra needed to figure out what the hell was going on, as everything was going to utter shambles after this display of powers.

Leaving her own room, the inhabitants were sent into a manic panic, running about everywhere with talks about invaders of sort? A sinking feeling pitted at the bottom of her own heart, as something that could cause Crimsoul to quite literally surge his power to this degree did not send off the best kinds of vibes. Walking through the dark of night, Lyra headed in the direction that she could feel Mercutio's disturbance in. All the while, she was shivering a little underneath her own Adrestian robes. They weren't anything too special, as she could tear right into them, but Lyra felt the need to wear them right now. Heck, even the sight of her wearing this robe calmed some of the panicking orphans to some degree as she headed off in the direction of chaos. The black cloak with crimson clouds were enough to show that she was one of the few to trust in the midst of madness.

With paper being lightly controlled to press underneath her own cloak, like some sort of odd under armor, Lyra escaped the confines of the Living Quarters as she could spot the disturbance off in the distance. Picking up her own speed, Lyra bolted out into a full blown sprint to reach the shore, and the same place that she spotted the Gecko Man bastard was heading off in. Fear was already clasping within her chest as this was the absolute worst case scenario, an invasion of sorts as they were now on the world's most wanted list, more or less.

Slowing her sprint to a casual jog upon nearing the situation, Lyra felt the true despair of the situation settle in. There was what seemed to be a cavalcade of what seemed to be people filing right on out of a jet of sorts, none of them looked the sort to be in the mood for peace discussions. Especially the one standing at the forefront being Abyssal, the current number one hero in the WISH system. Her body convulsed and shivered uncontrollably as she knew the hopelessness in the situation. Lyra knew they were more or less dead on the spot, and had the stray thought to give up. But, for some reason, she did not stop moving closer to the situation with a furious scowl on her face, directed at these people.

It would be the smart thing to give up, but screw being smart. Screw giving up at the first sight of absolute danger. Screw the world and its rules! NOTHING would be accomplished if she just surrendered right there and then, as something had changed over the year of living on Elysium. Sure, she had not really interacted with the others of this island, but it had gotten to a point where she could not imagine a life off of this island. A part of her wondered if this was what it meant to have 'Stockholm Syndrome,' but the people on this island were the first truly take her in and treat her as a person. She was finally reaching a normalcy that seemed far off away, out of her grasp eternally.

Standing half a meter away from Mercutio's side, Lyra stood with fists clenched as a deep realization and resolve built within her. Lyra did not want her life as an Adrestian to come to an end, as she was given a reason to exist as a human being. Though dysfunctional and full of weird psychopaths, the rag-tag group of islanders had built some levels of kinsman-ship within the mind of Lyra. Arms withdrawn into the robes, she listened to the one-off banter of each side, listening to how people were trying to assume having the moral high ground. The entire time she watched the empty horizon, and briefly turned her gaze around to look at the city behind them, and the half-moon which barely lingered in the air still in its descent towards the horizon, calming her own heart as a dark resolve built up within her.

"You aren't going to lay a hand on our home any further," Lyra spat out with an odd calmness, her own body ceased to shiver and her heart reached a normal state once again. Twisting her gaze back to the people, the woman dressed in the robes of her people continued to speak, "I can't bring myself to care for that shithole of a world across the seas anymore, the land in which you morons run amok with false beliefs and hopes fueling your greedy assaults. You can keep your lands, but if you dare wish to get rid of the only place in the world I feel at home... I hope you enjoy your eternal visit to the Abyss then."

Though having acted all cool and everything, especially with her Adrestia robes fluttering in the slight breeze; internally Lyra's own sanity was screaming and writhing in agony at what she was doing. She was quite literally threatening the top heroes of the world after all, so of course that little voice in the back of her mind was at it's own wits end. But with the defensive feelings of her home building up inside of her, Lyra was willing to fight. Lyra was willing to defend, and she was going to survive as per usual.

Taller than You
At early dusk, Mairu was exactly where one would expect to find a four-tailed, hyperactive fox boy: in bed. Covers thrown off, one arm on his pillow and another on his stomach as it rose and fell, drool dribbling out his mouth as he snored quietly. While the boy definitely loved building gadgets for Mercutio, he couldn't deny that back to back building a set of cloaks and moving a mansion had left him somewhat worn out, resulting in the kitsune ending up in bed earlier and longer than he usually wanted to be. Turning onto his side with his four tails spilling over the side of the mattress, the boy kicked a few times in his slumber, seeing himself running around outside and playing a game of tag.

The room was quiet, one of the higher level guest rooms Mairu had grabbed for himself the day the house had been moved and installed it wasn't exactly amazingly furnished, but signs of a young inventor having moved in were slowly showing up. Bits and pieces of unfinished gadgets, some designs of fantastical machines strewn about and a few candy wrappers about. Not a place he could call his own quite yet, but it was getting there.

Living on Elysium had started off as something a little bit scary, somehow having ended up under the gaze of one of the world's leaders and his troop of orphans. Over time though, the fox boy had met a small number of people whom he could call his friends, and who seemed to have a genuinely good air about them. Mordred, Shiori, Artemis and even Mercutio himself seemed to be people holding down some secret they were moving passed. No one pried about his life and he did the same, slowly forming some bonds with a small circle of people. With gadgets to make, food to eat and adventures to go on with his friends, people who seemed to carry the weight of their mistakes just like the boy always did... what was the point in going home?

The boy's room was rocked by an quake of some sorts, just hard enough to wake the boy from his slumber with heavy lids fluttering open. With the mansion a fair step away from the main area of Alana, the boy was surprised he building's lights from his bedroom window... no, it was far too red to be the regular lights and far too bright, especially this close to dawn. This light... he remembered what this kind of light was...

Mairu had blitzed on his clothes, panting as he ran down the beach as fast as he could, some small tears of worry in his eye as he followed a yet unheard sound his ears had picked up on, sneakers meeting sand as he moved off the island's vegetation and towards one of its beaches. Soon, his night vision picked out the source of the strange noise: some sort of souped up jet. There were people beneath it, numbering not amazingly high but a few of them seemed to give off an aura of absolute horror. Speaking of auras though, while the boy hadn't heard all of the man's cussing, he could pick out that he was fairly mad, at least by going off of the amount of red smog he was exuding.

As the boy neared, more members of Adrestia and Elysium gathered onto Mercutio's side, the fox boy starting to pick out a number of swears being exchanged between the two groups. Whatever they were arguing about, whatever was happening definitely seemed like an adult matter, one he was supposed to leave alone. But there was something inside the boy, seeing this all happen again, flashes of a man being burned alive and a crowd of people just looking on... it just made him angry, so incredibly angry.

"St-Stop it!" The boy commanded, standing in between the two groups with his fists taut and tears pouring out his eyes as he glared at Abyssal and her companions. His chest heaving and his cheeks stained, the boy felt his throat go dry as he lashed out at the crew of so called heroes, not having any true grasp on what was going on but laying into them nonetheless. With heavy breaths from both the overwhelming emotion, and after having run all the way from the mansion, the boy yelled out, "Stop it! Stop it and go away! We didn't do anything wrong! They didn't! Why can't we just be left alone! Mercutio's nice to me! He gave me stuff to build and-and a place to sleep and... I have friends so just go away and never come back!"

Seething, the boy's anger streamlined as furrowed eyes locked with any he could find, commanding "Leave. Us. Alone."

Unlike most of the people on Elysium - excluding the early risers, of course - the little orphan was awake. She had almost slept through the entire night, which was odd for the nine year old when nightmares stalked her constantly. It took the bad dreams of suffocating nothingness and flashes of deadly crimson that consumed everything in it's path to catch up with her, waking up Artemis before the sun could.

With a pounding heart and panicked breath, the black dragon left her lodgings and headed out to the beach. The entire process was almost routine, it happened that often. Every single night the little girl would be awoken in panic from dreams that wouldn't let her rest. She then either wander through the beach, the small town or, more often than not, she'd train. Artemis had a goal to be the best flier that had ever lived but to get there she first needed to be able to get off of the ground. First injury had hindered her, but her shoulder had healed perfectly fine. She now just had to deal with inexperience.

The rhythmic movement of the tide against the sand calmed Artemis. She sat on a rock, alone, and watched the waves move in from the sea to lap at the land. As her arctic eyes were draw from the edge to the horizon, the little dragon had an urge to leap off of the rock she was perched on to chase it. 'Could I even fly now?' That one doubt clung to the dragons mind, however, much as her talons clung to the porous surface beneath her.

The orphan sighed and tried to go back to calming herself. However something on the horizon caught her eye. At first, the creature thought that it might be a bird, or a ship. But it was moving far too fast and soon the question of what the mysterious object was was answered. The giant jet swept over to land on Elysium, with it's occupants desire soon answered as someone from inside lobbed a glob of something towards the town.

Panic set in once again. Artemis's heart started to pound once more as she eyed the group gathering in front of the jet. To the little dragons partial dismay she say Mairu, one of her few friends, join them. 'They're going to attack! Can't he see that?' she thought. Concern and worry joined the panic and anxiety that were building up within the nine year old, but despite those emotions she knew that she had to stand with her friend. Artie wouldn't be able to bear it if he got hurt, especially if she knew that she could've prevented that pain.

Her small stature made it so that the little dragon's run to join the group took a bit longer than usual, but she still made it there with plenty of time to spare before the fight started. Artemis mostly ignored everyone about her, not really caring for the strangers. She especially tried to avoid Mercutio and the mist that was seeping out from him. The orphan soon ended up beside Mairu, concern lined her face and body. Artie sat back on her haunches and put a paw on her friend's side, worried about how all of this would turn out. But she would do her best to make sure that she and her friend got out of this alive.

Sweet Baby Lemon Hands, the wizard, is here to the rescue!

How long had it been?

The white haired girl had been isolating herself for a good majority of her time being on the island. If it wasn’t due to her thinking about that purple haired idiot, then it was always back to herself and what she’d done - her irreparable mistake. However, those thoughts didn’t last for long unfortunately seeing as it’d been long enough that the girl had been moping around to herself. She had even went as far as to get herself dazed and pass out while being in the Dark Continent with Mercutio and the rest of her fellow members. “I just wanted the feeling to go away… is that so hard to ask?” Her words quietly mumbling towards herself and the silent room before her, “I guess it doesn’t matter anymore does it?” She continued to grumble as her fingers slinked their way over towards the nightstand to grab what appeared to be a small box.

“Maybe it’s because I’m still a kid. Damn childish emotions!” She hollered to herself before raising the box that was in her hand and throwing it towards the wall beside her. The small girl should of been thankful that the box didn’t break right then and there, considering that those were where her contacts were kept.

“Get over it, it’s been months by now. This is who you are, you signed up for this the second you stepped foot into that damn tournament.” She continued to say to herself as she hopped her way out of her seat.

Talking to herself was how she could cope, how she could reason with herself as if she was talking to a different human being. “You signed up for this once you foolishly allowed a stranger to deceive you - but you always fall for it, don’t you Sonomi?” Her words cold and precise as she leaned towards the box to check the contents inside, “You just want the same thing everyone else is looking for, but you’re too blind to see that it’s all here.” Her free hand deftly moved to apply the contacts from within the box to her eyes, allowing her vision to be clear as if she was to have her glasses on the bridge of her nose. This wasn’t to say that she still tried to adjust the glasses that were imaginary as she shuffled about the house to put on her infamous kitten slips.

“It’s your fault, but you should embrace it at this point and move on. You are going to make mistakes but… but as long as you do what you think is right - that’s what matters.” She continued to say before slipping on a sweater and a pair of sweats.

It didn’t take the girl long before she finished getting dressed and adorn herself with the bow that so many familiar faces knew her by. “Stop moping on the past and focus on the present, you don’t want to let them down right?” She finished to herself as she looked over at the kitchen, noticing that she must of made some sweet tea prior as there seemed to be some filled cups upon the table’s surface. “Even though you didn’t mope the whole time... you’ve been distant.” Those words cooing into the vacant area once again before she turned around to face the front door, and once she grasped its knob and opened it did she see the sight that was in front of her.

New faces that were more or less hostile judging by the tension that’d soon fill her nostrils, or judging by the Mercutio that was hovering with his back turned towards her. She would of said something had it not been for her walking out in the middle of him talking to what was supposed to be heroes - but they.. weren’t? It seemed that with a few glances that there was a few more faces that was on Mercutio’s side, but unfamiliar to her own or perhaps too disoriented to remember as a free hand of hers rubbed the back of her neck. “Oi… it seems I’ve been out of it for quite a while but I must of missed some things.” Her voice hopefully loud enough to either draw the attention of Mercutio himself or someone nearby that could address her as to what was fully going on.

She didn’t have too much of a firm grasp as to what was going on, but judging by the current situation and the side glance of a building that was freshly damaged - things weren’t going to end peacefully… were they? It was a good thing that she decided to get past her mopey phase and to return back to her stern self, otherwise this might’ve been difficult for her to participate as much as she would of liked.

“Aish…. I finally decide to get my shit together and everything else goes down hill.” Her voice coldly said as she looked over towards the new people who stood across from her brother, Mercutio. Well, seems I must put my training to the test.

"I have decided... make her you, but stealthier. Teach her to tap into her inner animal."

This was the command that echoed through the scruffy young Elysian’s mind as he laid in the sand near eastern side main island hub, looking up at the stars. Insomnia had just become a way of life for him since leaving home 3 years ago. At first it had just been out a paranoia from living alone so long. Then, fear that the something on Dark Continent would try to kill them in the night. Following that, it was the guilt for all the lives he had ended at the African elections, and now it was a mix of this new order and anxiety about what WISH was sending their way.

Gjöll looked down at the small plush orphan who currently sat on his chest. Whenever she sat motionless like this, he always wondered if Fran was sleeping or if she was taking her stealth training very, very seriously. It was a skill she had basically perfected since Mercutio instructed her to practice at the American Elections. Hell most if not all of the world just considered her to be another one of Mercutio’s odd fashion accessories.

How was is suppose to train someone so small and innocent to be vicious killing machine? Even he still had a bit of a weak stomach when it came to ending the lives of others. This was a weakness, however, he was easily able to bypass due to his quirks unique ability to turn off his humanity when such a task was needed. Now that he no longer feared the beast that was inside of him, the boy was so much closer to understanding what would be needed in order to fully break it and put it under his control.

Fran was different, she wouldn’t be able to call upon the same inner bloodlust that he was able to rely on. Somehow, he would have to help develop her own ferociousness that could be called upon if the need arose. All of that would have to way until they had some breathing room and after they dealt with whomever was spent after them. Right now, they just needed to rest up and be ready for the upcoming battle whenever it would come.

Almost as if on command Gjöll’s gaze would be drawn to the large ball of lava as it flew through the air from the north side of the island and into the center of the urban area. “Fran we have to go.” He instructed the smallest Adrestian, moving her from her resting place on his chest onto his head as he stood up. “It looks like the unwelcome guests we have been expecting have arrived. Honestly a bit too soon for my liking.

What type of “hero” has been sent after us?” Gjöll wondered aloud as he ran through the outer ring of small buildings toward the center. “Why would they indiscriminately attack a civilian area like that? Between this and placing large dead or alive bounties on a group of children just because for who or what they might know, has WISH finally lost it?

As they reached the center Gjöll wouldn’t be too surprised to find that Mercutio had appeared to already have dealt with the fire. Several other Elysians including other Adrestia members had already began show up and show their support, ready to defend their home. An all too familiar crimson aura enveloped the area, Mercutio was visibly pissed as he addressed the invaders and rightly so. The feral boy wasn’t sure he had actually seen their leader this mad before, but it was quite a sight to see. From what he could tell their appeared to be a very low number of intruders. How strong were these people if this was all they sent to take down an entire country run by one of the strongest men on Earth.

He was, however, shocked by Mercutio’s revelation of intruders leader was the world’s current number 1 hero: Abyssal. They actually sent their hardest hitter to deal with them. He could feel a small wave of actual fear wash over himself, followed by a small wave of excitement. If they somehow survived this encounter, there would likely be very few people who would be willing to come after them anymore. While he didn’t know much about the rest of her organization, if she had brought them alone he would have to assume they were definitely strong enough to be considered a threat.

He stayed silent , as was his norm during high stress situations, and eyed the group of intruders, watching for any sudden moves they might make. Mercutio would say everything that needed to be said, he knew that to be true. Gjöll watched Mercutio as he took a bite of his thumb drawing blood and marking a line along his palm and the scent of the man’s blood filled his nose. The boy’s skipped a beat before beginning to echo loudly in his ears as a ring of red began to claw at the edges of his vision. Whether Mercutio had not noticed him nearby, was too caught up in the moment to care, or simply drew his own blood intentionally as part of some bigger plan Gjöll didn’t know.

Ahhh! That’s a scent I haven’t smelled in a long time. His subconscious would growl through his mind , taunting him. Can't you tell the difference between the blood of the weak and powerful yet?

Not yet. The boy would mentally shoot back in response to the question and as well a command to be followed.

Oh? What’s the matter? His inner beast cooed in response. I can feel all of your hatred. All your rage! You want to tear them apart just as much as I do!

We have to be careful about this. The boy chided back. Aside from the one we know is far beyond our power, we have no idea about the rest of their abilities. We have a very limited time to be at our peak, and we cannot waste even a second of it.

Fine.. it would growl in response. I’ll be patient for now.

Gjöll would wait for Mercutio’s orders, watching the intruders for any sign of aggression.

Much like everyday, everything was going Hiko’s way. Her savior was home from his vacation, and all her friends and siblings had come back stronger than ever. Over the last couple weeks, Hiko had been busy with her own training, learning to use the island’s stone… learning to further spread the influence of her power. She had been unprepared during her last sparing match with Big Bro Satoshi, but now she was done underestimating the terrain. Ever since the others had left on their secret vacation, Hiko had been eating tons and tons of dirt and volcanic rocks. At first this gave her really really bad tummy aches, but after a while she adapted to it, learned to draw nutrients from them the same way she feasted on stones. Every day she found a new bounty of luck on this island, this home was truly a blessing to the little stone girl.

As normal, Hiko wandered the beach as she waited for morning, sleep eternally evading her as she never actually had needed rest since her quirk manifested. Heading back a little early, Hiko skipped along the volcanic rocks as she entered the civilian enclosure, passing by the hospital, Hiko hung a hard right and slipped into the back door of her building. Her savior and unreciprocated adoptive father, Mercutio, had granted her this space to establish a defense force for the islands. He had entrusted her with a prestigious rank and responsibility. With a quiet sigh of contentment she began to brew some tea. The liquid had no technical effect on her, she neither needed to eat nor drink nor even breathe, but the girl like the gentle warmth as it heated her stoney core. Looking out a window, she stared at the twinkle of the stars outside. Something was not quite right. There was a light in the distance, yet dawn was hours away. “…Another surprise?” Not long ago, Demitri had come home with a big new puppy, perhaps this would be a similarly fun surprise.

Before she could continue her thoughts, the light zoomed past the window, over her little building and…crashing into the hospital next door!? Shooting to her feet she rushed outside.Nononono… not again… not this time!” Hiko dashed outside to see the building was on fire, the blaze illuminating the still sky Nononono… I was good this time, please don’t let this be happening” Her head was beginning to fog. For the first time in her life, Hiko had been legitimately happy, had had an actual kind ‘family’… had friends, had a purpose. She didn’t want to go back to pretending everything was ok, to smiling through the pain. But now that bubble had popped, that reality shattered. Life was never allowed to be nice to Hiko, she wasn’t allowed a fair life. Tears filled the adolescent’s eyes as she covered her mouth in shock. Just as fast as the fire had spread, the heat was sucked out of the surrounding air, freezing the embers before they could spread. “Mercutio…” she gasped. Suddenly the black void that had just swallowed her heart had a tiny crimson light in it. And as she ran, with each step she felt that light bloom inside her. She wasn’t going back to her old life, she wasn’t going to let life swallow her up and dump the world’s darkness on top of her. She had a real home, and she would either win her freedom from her old life, or die fighting for the life she deserved.

Suddenly it was all so simple, the earth beneath her feet moved in tandem with her own steps, then her feet would simply stop leaving the ground as she bled through the course stones, her body becoming one with the island as her liquid stone physique weaved its way toward the others. The plain simple sundress would pop out of the earth by their feet, then slowly she would climb up and fill the garment as she reformed along side her family. Looking up at her savior, she gave a resolute nod. “I know I’m not the biggest or the strongest… but this is my home too. I won’t get in your way, but I’m not hiding from this fight… I’d rather be shattered today, than go back” Hiko looked away, focussing on the threat before them. She wasn’t asking for permission, she wasn’t volunteering, she wasn’t leaving without a fight.
