Mercutio was frantic when normally he was quite calm and collected. He was soaring through the air and searching as best he could, scrounging up a good few. Mairu, Artemis and Shiori were all gathered and shown a place similar to a robotics lab that was disguised as a normal room with the Taylor's mansion. Mercutio had his ways.

After they all were before him and everything was set, he addressed them. "I recently came into some cash, and I wanted to spoil you all a bit and see what you could do! I was hoping Shiori could work with you all and, well... see what you could all do! I was more than surprised hearing about Artemis and her love for gadgets." he said, only learning her name the other day, but he was charismatic and knew how to lay it on really, really thick... they were kids and he could sense their energy levels.

"I am really excited to see what quality of work you all can do! Be back soon!" he said, passing a note to Shiori as he passed her and out the door, towards the Isle of Mia before departing.

The note read:

'We are, like you know, in the DC and recently, WISH's corruption has gone to far. I want you to build this idea because I think we may end up going to war. They are ideas from all those who I could think to ask, but please do what you can and make yourself a nice one, nothing to flashy.' he said adding a ;) to the bottom of his signature.

Artemis rarely hated anything. She liked to try and look on the bright side of life, although that tended to fail more than often. Not to mention the little dragon's pride could get in the way of making friends. And the fact that the creature was far from agreeable when tired. But she rarely hated anything, or anyone. Even her life on Elysium she liked, with her days being spent as she wished them to be and new friends to be made around the corner.

Unless, of course, that thing was Mercutio.

Now because she was so young, the irony of the situation completely escaped little Artemis. Without Mercutio, there would be no Elysium. Without Mercutio, she'd be back at home, stuck in school and having to try to manage a world made for large people. But without Mercutio, she'd still have her mother. Without Mercutio, her nights would be spent in sweet dreams, rather than dreading nightmares that were certain to wake her before the sun.

On some level, the little dragon sort of understood all of this. Mercutio was the ruler of Elysium. The island was his place and her and the orphans only lived there due to his grace, or just him simply not caring about them. While that didn't lessen the creature's hate for the man, it did make her cautious. Not only would she be kicked out of her new, and only, home, Artemis knew first hand that anything she threw at the crimson bastard would just bounce off. No, better to just glare at Mercutio and do nothing while she trained herself to fly, so that she could go wherever she wished, whenever she wished.

Which is exactly what the 1 foot tall dragon did. She glared Mercutio out of the room, caring not for the compliments he paid them, nor for the fact that he somehow knew her name. Even if Crimsoul gave Artemis all of the ice cream she could ever want for, she'd still glare at the man while licking up her treat. A dragon could hold onto grudges easily, no matter how small or young they were.

When Mercutio did leave, however, Artemis let her loathing slip and be replaced by curiosity. She had never seen her two new companions before, and it seemed like they harbored the same love for creating objects that the little dragon did. There was a rather young boy with many tails, as well as a woman who was so tall that it sort of hurt the creatures neck to try and meet her eyes. Knowing better than to hope, but still trying anyway, Artie balanced herself on her haunches and brought her hands up in front of her to use her main form of communication. "Hello. I am Artemis" the little creature signed, curiosity filled to the brim.

As a back up to such encounters, the little dragon had made sure to always wear her harness at all times. It was a hodgepodge of different fabrics that Artemis has stolen acquired, mainly with grey being on the outside. Several pockets dotted the tiny contraption, namely a large one that was flush against her back that held some paper and several pens. The creature took those out and placed the paper on the ground. She quickly scribbled her greeting on it before she held it up for Shiori and Mairu to read. "Hello, my name is Artemis. I can understand english, but not speak it. I made this harness myself!" The little dragon seemed rather proud of the final fact, her tiny chest puffed out a bit.

Elysium was many things: mysterious, surprisingly large, filled to the brim with orphans and had a general eerie feel about its leader. But one thing the small nation never was was boring. Every day there was some new place to discover, some new development going on with the island's hierarchy or a surprise person to meet. For example, this day Mercutio had up and nabbed Mairu for a project of sorts, the fox boy uncertain as to what exactly this could all entail, and even a bit apprehensive. He'd recently helped move a mansion which, while fun, was a rather large task, so one could only wonder what the man had planned for Mairu next.

As it turned out, it was something big enough of a surprise that saw Mairu's eyes widen and his body grow jumpy with giddiness, freaking out as he realized not only was the leader of a country giving him praised and compliments, he was also giving the boy access to a fully stocked, secret lab! Well, him and two others, Shiori taking her usual lead of room height, while Mairu actually felt a bit taller himself as he craned his head down to observer the other person in the room... Well, he assumed they were a person anyways, probably an X-Form like him if he had to guess, but at less than a fourth his size, it could very well have been a well-trained lizard of some kind.

Well, it looked like Mercutio was out of the room as fast as he came in, handing off a note to Shiori before he left, the tiny dragon seemingly bearing an ire towards the man. Truth be told, a good number of people seemed to be rather tepid towards the man, apart from those who wore robes similar to his. Maybe one day he'd find out what that was all about, but there was a more important task at hand: building something complex!

The dragon introduced itself as Artemis, Mairu's eyes opening just a tad at the sign language, something he'd been meaning to master to have a full on language mastery but had only managed to get some of the way through. The fox boy tried to sign back best he could with a smile, but after a few failed hand signs he settled on going for the simple, "I Mairu"

Fortunately, the tiny dragon had a pad and marker handy, readily explaining that while they couldn't speak, they could very easily understand, the boy putting his hands on his knees as he leaned forward and read the information. He gave a small, "Cool..." as he admired the dragon's harness with a smile. Still, he remembered he didn't have long to oogle, extending his left forearm to the creature as he declared, "C'mon, let's go check out the supplies!" He of course saw Artemis' wings and wasn't going to force her to perch like some sort of pet, but he figured a good first impression went a long way and wanted to be nice.

Walking over to the nearest table, the boy spotted a large amount of fibers, dyes, metal strands, knitting and shaping tools and a few cloak designs laid about. A frown was on the boy's face for a second, preferring super heavy metals work to all this, but started going through what they were given as he called out, "What're we buildin today Shiori?"

A letter would be found on the desk Mairu approached, if he opened it out of curiosity, he would find the following written:

"Oi, I'm not 100% trusting Shiori with this build. If she starts to look sketchy, take the stuff around you and build me some Adrestia cloaks that won't break when they're hit.

-Mercutio"

Much to the little dragon's joy, the younger of her two new companions seemed to have a small grasp of Sign Language. It was a very, very small grasp, but the fact that there was someone who was clearly interested in it and may very well want to learn more made Artemis happy. It sometimes got rather tedious having to write out everything that she wanted to say. 'I should teach him more, after this' the creature thought as she nodded happily to what Mairu had signed to her.

The sign language and Mairu clearly admiring Artie's handiwork had firmly planted a good impression of the other in her mind. As such, when he offered the little dragon an arm to climb on so that she could be saved walking around, Artemis mostly ignored it. She put her paper and pen back into her harness to get back her forepaws. A simple distasteful look was sent to the offered hand before the creature padded off, following the fox to the table. A small pause, which may or may not have involved a bottom wiggle like a cat would do, and then a leap rocketed Artie to the top of the table. She flapped her wings twice to ensure that she'd make it.

Once at the top Artemis skidded along the smooth surface for a little bit. She had landed on one of the most marvelous quality fabrics that the little dragon had ever been exposed too. A happy whistle slipped through the black muzzle as Artie picked up a roll of the fabric and admired it. She dragged the material over and in between her talons, appreciating the way that it slid over her tender palms. 'Such good stuff! I wonder if I'll be able to sneak out some scraps...' After all, with so much fabric that was here, surely a few bits wouldn't be missed?

The little dragon's enthusiastic assessment of the fabric was cut short when she noticed the numerous pots of dyes that were also on the large workbench. An even happier whistle was let out as Artemis bounded towards the collection. She went through the numerous colours, completely ignoring the various shades of reds and going straight for the yellows, greens and blues. It all seemed to be powders, with only a bit of water needed to make a vivid liquid. The black creature opened up the yellow pot that she held in one paw and tilted it towards her, peering into the texture of the colour. Some of the powdered dust drifted up and tickled the little dragon's nose, causing her to sneeze and send a small shower of bright yellow over her dark chest.

'Hm...probably shouldn't leave these uncorked' Artemis thought as she put the lid back on and placed the pot back. She looked at her chest for a second before she shrugged. Yellow was a nice colour, bright and cheerful, and so the little dragon didn't mind that her feathers were temporarily stained with the colour. Now eager to get to work with itching paws, Artie took out her paper and pen again and wrote down on it "So what do you want to make?" If Mairu could read the little dragon's expression as she turned the paper towards him, he'd see that she was happy and excited.

The small dragon was very excitable, earning a bright smile from the boy as he leaned down to help her out. For a moment, the tyke was somewhat upset by the dragon's reaction, thinking he'd done her a great offense by offering the arm. As she walked with him though, he realized that was just her way of saying no and not going through the trouble of hand signs.

Spotting a note on the desk after he'd asked Shiori what they were making, Mairu walked over to the table, thinking it was perhaps some instructions for them to work off of. Scanning the short note quickly, the fox boy began to sweat some, stuffing the note into his pocket quickly as he realized this was meant to be hush hush. Somewhat spooked by Artemis' yellow-tinted sneeze, the boy looked down at her with a small giggle as she began to play with the materials around them. Watching as she scribbled on her board, Mairu nodded along as each word came to form, just peeking over the board as she scribbled.

Determined to get the sign language down, the fox boy again fuddled with his hands, a look of aggravation on his face as he struggled to put the words together from brain to hands. It would come out as a garbled mess at first, the boy just managing to get passed a few words before he needed to concede.

"We... We... make... nono... build... cloak... no..." With a sigh, the boy dropped his hands and gave a half-hearted smile as he declared, "We need to use the nano fibers to make a some of the cloaks Mercutio and his friends wear, but so that they don't break... I don't think we can really do that with these though..." In thought, the boy pushed himself onto the work bench, hand on his chin as he mulled over the options before him.

"Making something indestructible's pretty hard... but what if we just made it so that the cloaks instantly repair! Then it'll at least look like their cloaks are fine, even if they get stuck in the washing machine!"

Looking around this way and that, Mairu's keen eyes eventually found a small laptop that he automatically assumed was for his own use, picking it up and then dashing back to the table of fibers. Meddling with a few adapters and getting the appropriate programs up and running, the kitsune declared, "I'm not too good with the small stuff but I can code okay. If I can get a program into at least one strand and then copy and paste through the rest, they should come out like Mercutio wants. Do you wanna do the colors and sewing?"

The boy would be sure to look up from his mess of a hodge podge computing station every few seconds to make sure Artemis wasn't communicating with him, as well as making sure she was okay with the job he offered up.

Artemis couldn't help but feel amused as Mairu tried to sign towards her. The boy quite clearly struggled, but his interest was pure. The little dragon wouldn't laugh nor make fun of his attempts in any way. Instead, she wanted to foster that curiosity and hopefully end up with a friend who could sign as well as she could. 'I wonder if I should do the same thing that I did with Derge..." While she had made her harness, the creature had also had a conversation with one of the other orphans. He too was interested in learning sign language and so what Artemis had done was to write what she wanted to say, and then sign it out directly after.

The little dragon wasn't too sure about everything that her companion was talking about. The words "nano-fibers" translated to mean "small threads" in the girl's head, which she felt wasn't quite right. 'Maybe it's why the cloth is so nice?' Artie wondered, nudging a bolt of cloth that was near her. "Coding" and "Programming" though were words that she knew were associated with computers, which she wasn't quite interested in.

As a matter of fact, the more Mairu used Mercutio's name the less enthusiastic the dragon felt for the project. She was all for playing with the fabric and dyes, but helping the man who had caused the death of her mother? No matter how it happened, Artemis still blamed him for the events that had transpired. Her mood continued to sour and she almost jumped off of the table and padded out of the room, if it weren't for one little bit of info from Mairu that niggled at the creature's mind.

He had said "and his friends". Artemis didn't know that many older people on Elysium who weren't orphans, but one did spring to mind. Feraocity, the man who had started to help the little dragon learn to fly. Even though it had been in the dead of night when the two met, he had been patient and accommodating to the little girl. He had even given advice and help when it was needed. 'I will do this for him and his friends' Artie thought with a huff. She knew that her friend was one of the higher ranking people on the island, and so would make the items for him.

"I can do the sewing stuff, but dyeing things is fun and you can help" Artemis wrote down. She slid the paper in front of Mairu so that he could read it easily. Despite having her message passed over, the little dragon would remained balanced on her haunches, waiting expectantly. When her companion looked at her the orphan would sign out what she had written, carefully and slowly. Artie's energetic behaviour had died down quite a bit since all of the talk of Crimsoul, but she still seemed to look forward to their task.

With the jobs having being split, the little orphan knew what to do to start with. First, she'd need to get pieces of cardboard, a pen, and a craft knife. Once all were acquired, the dragon would sketch the patterns that would be needed to make up the cloaks. Once the outlines were done, they were cut out with the knife and the scraps discarded. All of the ambiguous shapes were labeled as to what part of the body the corresponding cut cloth would belong to. Now whenever a cloak needed to be made, all one had to do was to place the shapes on the fabric, cut it out, and sew the pieces together, which was exactly what Artemis had started to do. The scissors were a bit difficult to manage, but their sharpness made slicing through the cloth easy enough.

While Artemis didn't go so far as laughing or even snickering at the boy's attempts to sign back to her, he did sense a hint of entertainment from her, growing a small blush as he struggled but grinning with embarrassment as he did so. If his attempts made her happy, he'd at least done something small right.

Not too familiar with the dragon's social quirks, and having no familiarity with what Mercutio did in Africa at all, the boy was greatly confused by the small girl's ever growing upset nature regarding the matter of building the cloaks. Maybe he was speaking too fast? He had had trouble with that before in the passed, though he'd mostly grown out of it as far as he was aware of. Maybe she'd been expecting something more robust like himself, some sort of big project with lots of giant metal parts. Whatever the distaste was, it seemed to fade once Mairu had returned with the computer, hearing the dragon scribbling as he plugged in what he needed to work on.

The girl declared that was fine with doing the sewing, but that he was allowed to help with dyeing and while this wasn't exactly his style persay, he didn't want to seem rude so he started to respond with, "Okay, as long as you-" before he cut himself off, seeing Artemis make signs with her hands. Realizing she was teaching him, the boy hurriedly dropped his gear as he repeated the pattern back to her, doing his best to memorize the new sequence of information. Feeling he'd done well, Mairu's smile became rosy as his tails wagged and he offered a fist bump to the tiny dragon as he declared, "Right on!"

Seeing Artemis get to work, and with some positive reinforcement, Mairu was spurred on in his own goal, typing away like a madman. The code would need to go in last, seeing as that would be the cloth's permanent shape for more than likely time immemorial, making cutting and coloring impossible. Telling fabric to piece itself together after fire alone would be a mission and of itself, meaning the boy had a lot of work ahead of him, already feeling a familiar sweat coming along as he typed.

When Mairu had gotten the sequence of signs right, his instructor nodded happily. It was good that the little dragon's new friend was so dedicated to learning the language, and obviously both of them enjoyed it. Artemis specifically enjoyed showing something to someone, especially if that something was new to the person being shown. The joy of the unknown and excitement of discovery were wondrous gifts to have and to share.

Artemis attacked the cloth with renewed vigour. She used her cardboard cutouts to make almost identical shapes, putting them all in piles so that one knew which bit each shape belonged to with just a glance. The little dragon continued at a decent pace, cutting out as many shapes as she could with as little scrapes as she could manage from a single roll. Once the little dragon reached the end of the roll she paused and looked at her pile of shapes.

'Hm...how many cloaks are we meant to be making?' The Orphan thought with sudden realization. Without knowing how many people needed the cloaks, one didn't know how many cloaks they needed to make. 'I don't think they even said what colours they wanted....' That last thought perhaps had a bit of an evil vein to it. With only bare bones instructions left behind, Artemis was very keen indeed to let her nine year old artistic talents shine through.

While the little dragon was happy with dyeing the cloth however she wanted, she figured that knowing how many cloaks to make would at least be a good question to ask. Artemis had left her paper and pen out from earlier, not bothering to put them away with a desk underneath her, and so bounded over to the equipment to convey her query. "Do you know how many cloaks I have to sew?" she asked Mairu. With the paper slipped towards the other, Artie once again went through the motions carefully to continue her friends instruction in sign language. When the answer was given, the orphan would flick through her fabric scraps, counting them all of see if she already had enough or if she'd need to get another roll.

The fire coding was just about done, though the boy had to wrack his brain a bit to remember the sequence for something like this, his expertise in big jobs alone coming back to haunt him once more. Still, he now had a code ready to beat off any sort of fire. Energy-based attacks would probably have a few similarities, so he started on that next, making sure to triple check his lines of code for any errors before doing any copying.

Hearing scribbles once more, the boy blinked twice to realign his brain for a different kind of interaction before he looked down at Artemis' note, reading it over quickly. Paying attention to his miniature teacher, the boy then went about copying her hand signs, fumbling a bit in the middle but catching himself by the end. The boy then mulled over the question proper, thinking back to how many cloaked people he'd seen around. Once sure of his number, and being careful to add an extra in case, the boy declared, "Sixteen I think..." Remembering, however, that the girl was going off of a lot of his instructions, the fox boy realized he'd need to talk about the actual type of clothing they were making.

Feeling confident to attempt another sign segment, Mairu's gloved fingers bent slowly as he made sure to get each word right. "We... make... same... egg..." The boy paused, feeling he'd definitely thrown out the wrong sign and took a moment to recover his memory. "...same... color... as... people... in charge...?" The question mark itself laid not in the boy's hands, but his face, raising an eyebrow awkwardly as he wondered if he'd even got any of that right. Again though, the boy was playing it safe, being sure they followed the current design, if only updated.

Once that was sorted, the boy returned to his programming...

'Sixteen? That's a lot' Artemis thought as the counted up the cutouts that she had. She figured that she'd need a bit more of each, with a little bit extra just in case she screwed up the sewing bit and ruined some pieces of fabric. The little dragon was about the return to her work of cutting when she saw that Mairu had raised his hands and tried to fumble through a sentence. As he continued to "speak", Artie got a bit confused and tilted her head in a silent question.

The Orphan hadn't really seen any of the Adrestia people. With the way that Mairu had phrased his sentence, Artemis couldn't help but think of a group of people, all in the colours of the rainbow. A vague recollection of a group of heros who walked around solving crime popped into the little dragons head, but she dismissed it. That was for a group that was part of the world, not stuck on some little island in the middle of no where. Not to mention Artie was sure that if even one person was walking around like that, she would have noticed them.

With her confusion still evident, the dark creature quickly wrote down her thoughts before signing them slowly. "The same colour as the people in charge? Are they rainbow people?" Her signing was a bit slower than usual, with a tilt in the head that signified the little dragon's confusion was still very much there.

While she waited for Mairu to gather his thoughts and answer, Artemis started to cut the rest of the shapes that she needed. It was quick work, made even quicker by the fact that the little dragon was used to this job by now. It was also easy to ensure that the cardboard wouldn't move on top of the fabric, since the little dragon could just sit on it and cut around her. She soon had all of the pieces done in no time and, with fingers itching to do more the orphan set out on the table to discover what, in fact, the machine that was covered by murky plastic was.

After wandering the island for a few hours, Nefertum stumbled upon a mansion on the island. Entering it he found it to be quiet, as he walked the mansion he began to hear commotion coming from what seemed to be a bedroom door. Nefertum pressed his back against the wall and crept towards the door. He tried to open the door as quiet possible, not wanting to make a sound until he knew who was on the other side of the door. He peered in and he froze seeing the room being occupied, by X-forms...

Seeing them caused Nefertum to flash back to the night he lost his parents.

After a few seconds he shook himself and freed himself from the frozen state he was. he decided not to make any judgments based off their race as they were young, and seemed innocent. He watches the two interact, Nefertum thought to himself "What the hell are these kids trying to make?" He continued to remain silent but not having eaten anything for a while, his stomach growled. Nefertum's heart skipped as that pesky stomach made its mating call for food. He chose to remain still hoping neither of them heard it.

It seemed that the dragon did, in fact, have some difficulty in following the boy's explanation, Mairu apologizing with a small bow and his hands together. Weighing his options, he figured it best for now to just repeat the signs Artemis made than attempt new words on his own, lest he keep them there all day through his attempt to multi-task. Finishing the mini-lesson once more, and his hands now free, the boy went back to typing on the computer, starting on blunt damage as he replied to the tiny dragon.

"Sorry, should have explained better. The big... Adrestia I think they're called, cloaks. They're black with the red clouds." The boy turned back to the computer for a split-second before he realized that he actually knew those words, quickly turning back to Artemis and showing the signs for red and black with a hopeful expression at the end, feeling certain he'd managed that much this time.

A rumbling sound in the boy's ears took him out of the moment, however, Mairu leaning back and facing the door as he raised a brow, wondering what he'd just heard. Spotting no one, the fox got back to work, continuing his coding for reformation after taking blunt damage. It was a bit of a stranger one, needing to make sure that the fibers still ended up feeling like fabric, but that the metal wouldn't permanently morph into such a weak shape, or be stuck into whatever it was bent into, but it was at least a little bit easier than the heat-based attacks.

'Black with red clouds?' Artemis thought with disappointment. Before the two kids were pots upon pots of numerous colours. All of them were rich, with the vibrant greens, blue, and yellows catching and holding the orphans eye. Black and red were rather dull and boring colours, especially considering the choice in front of them. 'I wonder if I can slip some more interesting colours in...'

With a sigh at her enthusiasm being curbed by adults, Artemis padded the few steps over to the far side of the work bench where a device was covered in a cloudy plastic sheet. She pulled it off to reveal a sewing machine underneath it. It was a model where one didn't need a foot pad, but rather had a slider just above the needle. Excitement rising again, the little dragon popped open a small compartment on the bottom of the machine where pins, threads and bobbins were kept. She managed to set up the machine with a little bit of difficulty, the arrows that showed which way to wind the thread a bit worn but still legible.

A small rumbling sound, much akin to someone's hungry stomach, echoed a bit around the room. The creature paused, first ruling herself out, and then looked at Mairu with some confusion. 'Is he hungry?' Artemis wondered, but her friend seemed to be looking for the source as well. After a second with nothing rearing it's head, the orphan shrugged her wings and took up the pins. She started on the sleeves, since she had 32 to set up. It was all only one line to sew, but the little dragon wanted to make sure her work was as tidy as possible. Despite the sharp edges, Artie didn't prick herself once, moving quickly but carefully.

Nefertum exhaled slowly and quietly as neither of the two reacted to his stomach growling. He kept listening to the pair, well just Mairu as he did not know sign language. He stood in surprise when he heard Mairu talking about the cloak design he saw at the elections, lost in his own thoughts he barely heard the name of the ones who he saw.

"Adrestia... Are those the people who were in North Africa?" He thought to himself. His head rattled trying to remember what happened after the man in the stands in front of him fired off the blast but unfortunately nothing came to mind except the tournament he took place in. He gritted his teeth, he didn't really want to make them aware of his presence until he knew more about where he was or who they were, however it seemed that introducing himself might be the only way to find out.

Even though he was nervous about having a conversation with X-forms since he was 8, actually this would be the first time he had talked with anyone in quite a while...

Nefertum slowly opened the door to the lab, the door creaking slightly as he did so. He stepped through the threshold, he took a small breathe in and he spoke with a dead voice Excuse me... I'm apologizing for entering without knocking but I was wondering if the two of you could answer some questions for me.

He looked at them, still near the door, his feet resting on the cold tile floor. His eyes looked as though he had not seen sleep for a few days even though he had slept. He had to admit it felt a bit weird asking someone, who appeared to be a kid, what the hell was going on.[/code]
