Desert Punk | Ability: The user of this quirk gains the ability to manipulate sand, dirt, and other forms of earth that are finely particulate in nature. This manipulation can be fairly precise, allowing the user to create objects and body parts from the sand as well as just controlling waves of the material. They may also convert earth, rock, and concrete in the area based on their control rank into sand. The sand that the user controls has an effective power rank equal to the user's control rank.
Limitations: The ability to convert earth/rocks/concrete into usable sand only converts 1 cubic meter of material at a time, without the use of techniques. This means that most of the user's techniques that involve using a larger amount of sand require either multiple posts of set-up or the use of a 'set-up' technique. The amount of sand required for each technique must be stated in the technique upon creation, in terms of cubic meters, and all techniques will require the use of at least one cubic meter of sand per rank above E, regardless of how the technique is actually described to function. Going over the limit causes the user to suffer a -3 to both accuracy and power for 3 posts, after which the user continues to suffer a -1 to both of these stats until the end of combat. This -1 stacks in the case of going over the limit multiple times, if applicable.

This seems very similar to a few other quirks already on site.
earthbound Ability: - This quirk allows for control over the ground around the user. "Ground" implies non-organic naturally occurring minerals from the earth including: dirt, stone, metal, clay, gravel, etc... The range of this control varies based on the user's control stat.
Limitations: - Must have direct contact with the earth being manipulated. While metal can be manipulated with this quirk, it is more difficult than regular earth and registers as one letter grade weaker than the user's control stat. Plastic cannot be manipulated. Crystalline structures cannot be manipulated. Ground that is nearly a liquid or granular in nature (Such as mud and sand) are more difficult to control and suffer one letter grade control debuff to manipulate.
The longer this quirk is used the slower and less agile the user becomes. When pushing the limits of Earthbound, using techniques, user suffers a -4 speed debuff for two posts. |
Spirit of the Sands Ability: - Ability to manipulate sand in ways reminiscent of the desert. The user can move sand into walls or waves, and whip up cutting winds or sandstorms using dust and sand.
When in danger, the user can submerge themselves into sand and move around or turn into a dust devil. Dust Devil Usage -Activation of dust devil is dependent on Speed: Speed Activation time D 3 posts C 2 posts B 2 posts A 1 post S Immediate -Dust devil's required sand/dust is reliant on Control Rank D 1x Body Weight C .75x Body Weight B .50x Body Weight A .25x Body Weight S Trace Amounts
Limitations: -Hindered by water -Requires pre-existing sand or dust (but not wood ash) -When going over limit, the user becomes hypothermic, requiring higher temperatures to operate normally. Pushing it too far can put their life in danger even on a summer day. -Overlimit also reduces stamina by 2, and lasts 5 posts -Dust devil form is hard on clothing, and will shred heavy layers when used. -Dust devil form is weak to water, vacuum quirks, and high heat flame quirks |
Suna Ningin Ability: - The user is able to transform their body into sand that they can willfully control and manipulate. While not in complete sand form, the user has extremely dry and rough skin. Also, they constantly have a ‘dusty’ aura around them, though negligible in effects except making everything dusty.
Unlocked at B-Rank
The user is able to absorb moisture of objects they come into contact with, causing dehydration to living things, and in extreme cases, solid material like rocks and metals, to crumble into sand and dust.
Limitations: - The user is extremely vulnerable to water or liquid based attacks. When wet or in an extremely humid environment they are unable to turn into sand at will. -1 letter grade stamina against water or liquid based attacks. However, at higher ranks of control the user is able to absorb moisture and counteract their own weakness. When the user reaches their limit, they must revert back to human form, often with sand in their eyes. They are not able to transform back into sand for 2 posts, also suffering -1 letter grade to power and -1 letter grade to accuracy during this time. |

I suppose it is. I feel like it's different enough from any individual one of those to be worth being a separate thing. Still, if you say it's too similar, I'll respect that.
My key points would be, in order: Different from Earthbound as it only affects sand and dirt, and while it does allow transformation of specific materials into sand, the end result is still sand rather than solid stone or clay. Still, I can see where this would be very close, so perhaps I could limit further to just controlling sand, removing "dirt and other finely particulate earth" from the list?
Different from spirit of the sand, but only slightly. I'd say this is probably the closest, but "desert punk" would allow for more precise control at base as well as transforming other materials into sand, thus differentiating it slightly.
And finally I think this quirk is different than suna ningen. One turns the user into sand, the other just lets them create and control sand. It's like the difference between elemental body wind and a quirk that allows one to control wind, in my eyes. They share a common element, but do things a bit differently.
Is there any way I could change the quirk as it stands to make it stand further apart from the others, so that it's more acceptable as it's own thing?
Edit: I hope that didn't come off as too stand-offish, and I'm sorry if it did. I'm just trying to discuss ways to improve it, rather than giving up on it!

Thing is that its only 1 ep away from any of those quirks so i would still tier this high.

High tier would be okay, but I see what you mean. I could just leave it alone.
