Loose Reference for Mordred's face now Mordred blinked blearily in the light after his sudden unveiling in front of everyone. Standing almost half a head taller or more than most of the individuals present, the gecko-man already was standing out. However, adding to his normal traits, his gecko skin was suddenly a flurry of shifting patterns as the skin drunkenly tried to hide the host as a result of the sudden exposure. It was not effective in the least. In addition to his body still coping with the drugs and injuries sustained, the large chunks of new flesh were not yet acclimated and the patterns depicted contrasted greatly with the other areas of his body. Mordred's eyes watered but could not be cleared easily due to the scabbing of his face. Eventually, he was able to see again and his skin turned into a uniformly normal pale tone for a caucasian that hadn't seen the sun in years. The injured man's body was a testament to the life he had lived up to that point. Pale scars in varying shades decorated his bare skin back, front, arms, torso, neck, and more in addition to the more recent injuries which clearly stood out in large patches of new, raw flesh recently grown. Mordred only had a pair of loose fitting sweat pants on, his bare feet also showing scars and abuse. His fingers and toes stood out as being slightly enlarged and extra padded. Were there any surgeons present, they would note many of the old injuries looked to be self-treated due to the angle and apparent quality of heal. Despite being aware of his appearance that was now uglier than sin and being especially sensitive to the cold, he did not immediately rush to cover up or hide. He stood almost defiantly as he straightened his back to ensure all got a good look. The gecko man's voice began with a questioning tone, a subtle southern drawl, and a handful of slurred consonants due to his face injury. "Many of these are kids. This dangerous place you talked about sounds all well and good for physical trainin', but will it give'em the mental resolve to make the sacrifices that'll be required? And this seems to gloss over the part where most of us will probably die before this is all over with the Oni person..." Mordred's strength waned for a moment and his legs buckled. He caught himself with a hand and straightened again, new inflexible skin stretching and straining to stay stitched together. The gecko-man couldn't say more right away as he grunted in discomfort. A bit of blood trickled from both sides of his mouth after ripping the scab in both places. "...perhaps I'm too ignorant still...but this seems more and more like a cruel example of how the world is rotten: that children are called upon to give up their innocence and bear the sins and burdens of their elders." Mordred's disfigured face didn't display emotion well anymore, but his voice sounded mournful. |

Shiori gave a sideways glance towards Mercutio. He seemed to approve of something she said at the least. That was probably a good thing. She was the newest one here, and the man standing there casually having a solo tea-party might appear to be somewhat jovial and amicable. But the atmosphere was grave and nobody seemed to take this as a joke. There was a little bit of fear underlying the deference, defiance and absolute devotion in the people that went before her. Something about that made her feel glad that he approved of what she said instead of giving her a kick to the gut or a punch for that matter. Even so she wasn't quite sure if that smile was any better to receive. He seemed to have high expectations, and she had just seen what happened if you didn't meet them... She never considered herself fearless, the opposite, fear was what kept her alive. She heard say once that a hero is one who does not hesitate to act even if they are afraid, and an idiot is one that acts because they aren't afraid. It always seemed to make sense for that to be true. You can't be courageous in the face of fear if you never feel fear. Of course feeling fear and expressing it were two different things. Shiori had not been a very sociable person for a long time. She always seemed to be cold as ice, her face expressionless with her true feelings etched on the inside of an unreadable mask. So to some it might seem like she responded with an air of casual ease. Like an idiot who didn't know who they were speaking to so calm and casually. "I'll make it work somehow, worst comes to worst at least he is adorable to look at. I'm going to need more help then just one little fox boy to make this happen though." She crossed her arms as she stood back to watch the rest of them tell their story. The boy that had met her at the beach was there too. He had some stones on him she had to admit. She realised that she had come very close to finding out the reason behind his name back then and there herself. Part of her was glad it didn't come to that. He seemed confident, strong and very determined. Another part of her though... in the back of her mind, was itching. Whispering that it was a pity. She would have liked to put herself to the measure and see first hand what he could do and what she could do... Perhaps one day she might have to find out if that warning held water after all. The twins that went up next were an interesting show. She felt them a bit spoiled and they seemed... out of place perhaps. But then, no more so then she herself. This whole group was a very odd collection of souls by any measure. There was something that she couldn't quite put her finger on that bothered her about these two in particular though. The dramatic display Mercutio put them through in showing the nature of their seals made the thought pop into focus. They seemed far to naive for a place like this. Even so... they served as ample warning. Trust was needed, blind trust was dangerous and despite all that he was going to demand just that; a trust in him bordering on faith. She wasn't quite sure she was ready to go that far yet. But at least this meeting was turning out to be... illuminating. The next one to step up was interesting. A tiny gangster looking kid with a chip on his shoulder. At least that was her first impression of him, but his hooligan hair and flippant demeanour were not quite up to the expectations she first had on seeing him step up. In fact it turned out he gave her a lot of things to think about. Oni? Gala? The reason they were being trained? These were of course all things she had not heard about yet. It would be prudent to learn more about all these subjects. Not to mention his code name... the reference to helping set up these islands... was this then the guy that used his lava quirk to raise these whole islands out of the ocean? Appearances could be deceiving indeed if that was the case... She was jostled from these contemplation's by what might have been the most heart wrenching story there. Maybe not the most terrible story by itself but it was certainly helped by the fact that it was plain by all accounts; this was by far the youngest child amongst them. Shiori pulled the cloaks hood down a little to cover her eyes. Even those who seem like they are ice cold have their limits and she could feel her eyes start to water a little. 'No, your not going to cry dammit' she told herself. But fortunately the next story came along to distract her. Mercutio's own. This too proved illuminating, at times pitiable but most off all it answered as many questions as it raised new ones. The fuck was a dark continent for instance? Either way, she wasn't going to find out. There was plenty to do here. It seemed that at the conclusion of his own tale this meeting was beginning to end, but two more arrivals, fashionably late ones, provided one last distraction. Shiori was pretty good at understanding English but this gooses accent... she understood about half he had explained. It seemed he was a doctor and the robed and sacked one his patient. As he pulled away the curtain for a dramatic reveal though it seemed a bit underwhelming. Well... she was no stranger to injuries and blood, gore and all that hardly phased her at all anymore. Perhaps... that little voice told her that should worry her. But she was more interested in the prospects this mutilated new arrival promised. Unfortunately, his attitude left much to be desired. In fact he was kind of pissing her off within the first few words he spoke. She took a few steps forwards from out of her place in the circle and stared the man straight in his eyes. Straight down into his eyes that is. As big as he was, the cyborg still had a few inches of height on him. "Dunno who you are, Don't care. But from the way your dismissing everyone here, you must be even newer then I am. Had you listened to their stories, you'd have heard how the kid inside of everyone here was killed by circumstance before they came here. You want to dismiss them by height or appearance. Then the one looking like a half butchered pig running his mouth off looks weaker then every so called child here." She reached out her hand, grabbing him by the chin and turning his head side to side. She was looking over the scabbed wounds on his face with the same ice cold stare on her own. She didn't quite reach for him strongly, in fact her hands were surprisingly gentle. Especially considering they were rather oversized steel hands. But with how raw the skin on his face seemed even that touch might be quite painful. A smirk played on her lips. "So if your done dismissing everyone here, and if the doctor feels it appropriate, I can probably do something about your face at least. If your gonna be training with anyone here, you'd best not start to bleed again just from talking to loudly or stretching." Edited by Tenka Mikazuchi, Feb 20 2018, 05:56 AM.

The two beatings given out by Mercutio made Rosa flinch. So many mixed messages were being sent, did he intend to hurt all of them? Things only got worse as the man told the two to stand apart. If he really wanted he could have moved them himself, so Rosa separated from Negan. While she was standing off from everyone else the girl's knees were shaking. Fearing for the worst had become her default mindset since coming to Elysium. Mercutio taking out the gun was enough to make Rosa freeze in place, but as he held it to Negan's head and threatened both of their lives it was just too much. He really is gonna do it. He's tired of us now and is going to really get rid of us. Rosa started to tear up as she stared at her brother. She wasn't afraid of his explosions, but at the thought that Mercutio was just going to kill them anyway. She didn't want to die and she didn't want her older brother to die either. Resigning herself to her fate the girl gave her brother a thumbs up despite her hand shaking. The young girl then closed her eyes tight, waiting for the feeling of being blown away. But she never felt a single explosion. The sound of her brother's quirk were all around her, but she didn't feel a thing. As the sounds finally came to a stop Rosa opened her eyes. It was all a test? Rosa had hardly any time to process what was being said before Mercutio pointed his gun at her and fired. She couldn't bring herself to move a muscle as she stared straight at the incoming blast. Even after the blast was absorbed the girl stared ahead while breathing heavily. The blast that had killed her parents and ruined her life was fired but did nothing. Why? It wasn't until Mercutio pat her on the head that Rosa moved again, immediately stepping away from him. Rosa didn't care about seals or even her home, she just wanted to be away from the man. Still quietly crying she clung to her brother's side. It wasn't his fault what Mercutio made them do. It wasn't anyone's fault for what happened to them on Elysium except for Mercutio. He could solve so many problems but didn't care to. All he wanted was to have his group to do whatever he wanted. He didn't care. When Negan asked if she was alright the whitehaired preteen wiped her tears away and nodded slowly. She had to be strong so Negan didn't get held back. Others went up to the man with their own stories and Rosa gave them some attention. Maybe someone else would hate the place as much as she did. Sadly for Rosa it didn't seem like things would be getting any better as once Mercutio finished the story she had heard before, he announced they were going to the Dark Continent. From what Mercutio described the place as it was the worst place in the world. As much as Rosa disliked Elysium the land itself didn't try to kill her. If he didn't want to kill them why would he take them to a place like that? Somehow, things got even worse as a familiar figure arrived. The goose that she last saw snap someone's neck was now leading someone along with a bag over their head. Rosa was fearing for the worse and heeded the avian's warning. She looked away, her head behind Negan's back. A new voice was enough for her to peak her curiosity and the second she turned her head to the new arrival she regretted it. Seeing the terrible shape the man was in made Rosa gag and turn away. She covered her mouth with a hand while one kept a tight hold of her older brother. As she stared at the ground Rosa started to feel tired. She had hardly done anything, but the events of just the last few minutes were enough to make the girl wish she could go to bed. What she wanted most of all was to just forget today ever happened. Or even just go back before any of this had happened. Negan spoke up, but deep down she doubted anything would change. It wasn't like they could do anything to oppose the crimson man. Mercutio may not have been able to see her eyes, but Rosa's eyes could only look at him with the same fear in them she had when rounded up in Africa. |

Time was running out and he felt it was best to cut to the chase. "Carry on everyone, we all know what we are to do. Shiori, take the fox and do as we discussed, the rest of us are off to do hard training. The grind will become very real." he said, pushing everyone along in order to get rid of them. Shuffling all those who were going, he remotely activated his teleportation unit and sent everyone to Oni's Danger Room. "Yes, come." [End] Edited by Oni Bot, Mar 6 2018, 10:29 PM.
