Daniela was still in a state of shock from the events of the election- but watching hundreds of children become what she only assumed was comatose right in front of her eyes, only to be dropped in the middle of nowhere, had made her completely numb. The area around her eyes was always red nowadays from constant crying, but at this point she had ran out of tears to shed.

She found herself traversing along what seemed to mostly be rolling, grassy plains with a few surprisingly young trees scattered about. The lack of vegetation seemed strange to the arachnid girl- especially because she was particularly perceptive of these types of things given her spider-like form and senses. A frown dawned on her pale face at how barren the environment seemed to be- there was almost nothing else around.

As she was moving however, she faintly sensed something nearby. Situating herself between two of the larger trees for cover, she peered past one of them and there, in the distance, she could've sworn there was a young boy. Although at this length she couldn't perceive any specific details, she was able to determine that he had dark skin and seemed to be even younger than her. Due to her natural shyness and tendency to blend into the background, the boy may have trouble spotting her from behind the trees, but it certainly wasn't impossible.

He's so young... she thought, wrapping her four arms around the base of the tree, almost as if hoping it would hug her back or provide some sort of comfort. If only papa were here, he'd know the right thing to do. Was she supposed to fight him? Did they both just get tossed away and left to fend for themselves? Still, she wasn't sure what to do and stayed in her little area, just trying to keep an eye on him.

Suddenly, she felt an aura of energy surround her as her backside and legs began to lift into the air. Startled, she let out a yelp as she felt her arms slowly being dragged off of the trunk, holding tight for dear life. Quickly, she sprayed out a sort of woven bridge made of webbing and strung it between the two nearby trees as she thrust her legs onto the thin structure.

Despite the energy still tugging on her, it seemed as though her sticky web would help keep her grounded to the makeshift bridge. Letting out a faint sigh of relief, she jumped to attention as she remembered the young boy she'd just seen. Turning her head every which way, Daniela would attempt to locate him once more.

Haru hunched over, digging his teeth into a ferociously flopping fish. "Nghhh!!" The boy snarled at the fish, and then removed it from his jaws, whacking the scaly creature on a rock a few times until it limpened. Now satisfied, the twelve year old stood up to his full height, which wasn't very impressive at all. At a tiny 4 feet and six inches the small dark skinned boy was not much of a sight to behold... Until he pulled out his extra set of arms from under his black sash. After that startling revelation, it would immediately become clear that this boy's quirk was an anomaly of some sort: long fuzzy black antennae poked out of his ruffled mohawk, and each of his joints was connected with a large black orb. The elbows stuck out like blades, reminiscent of stingers.

Haru darted from bush to bush, hiding in the underbrush. He was a quiet, silent boy. His parents didn't talk to him much as a child, and so he never learned to become too verbal. When he spoke, he did so formally and with phrases that were too short for a listener to decipher his near illiteracy.

The boy spent a lot of time fishing though, ever since he was a child. He worked hard to earn fish to sell and bring home money for his family. Once the red sea was filled... His life changed a lot. So he was kind of glad that he was in this strange new place in a way. At least he could fish here.

He clenched his knuckles around the wide, slimy body of the dead fish. Next step was finding a fire, he supposed. Or digging a tunnel

Haru sat down cross legged and placed the fish in his lap, putting his tiny hand in his chin. He had to think...

Eyes. Eyes were watching him. The boy's antennae twitched, and he perked up, looking all around him. Having grown up in the slums of outer Cairo, Haru was used to quickly finding people who were watching him, especially--

He heard a yelp, and looked over to the rustling trees, where he saw a spider x-form floating into the air. Was she one of the children who was brought here with him?

He looked down at his fish and found that he too was floating into the air. Quickly, the boy reached down and snatched his fish as he levitated upwards, and pulled it close to his chest. He didn't want the spider girl to steal his fish.

"You," called out Haru loudly, "I'm fishing here." He wanted to make sure she knew that this was his fishing spot.

Floating higher and higher, Haru began to lose control of his momentum and somersault against his will.

Finally, the boy had had enough of this. He stretched his limbs out as far as he could in all directions and found that when he pushed against the red energy, he could stabilize himself, using it like a harness.

The girl was thankful that her web had been able to keep her steady and to the ground, though as time passed the red energy didn't seem to tug on her so much as give her...control. Well, maybe control wasn't the right word- it was one of those feelings that was hard to explain to be honest.

At the boy's words, she spotted him once more- though he seemed to have notice her as well after her exclamation of surprise, and saw him floating further and further up into the sky until he seemed to stop- stabilizing his body after a while and no longer just mindlessly somersaulting around. Does that mean that I can control this floating ability? Can I move with it too? a part of her wanted to test it out, but the fear she felt at the unfamiliar sensation and the confusing nature of her current predicament made her too fearful to do so, deciding to stick to her web.

"Umm..." she called out in a quiet voice, but did her best to be heard, "Okay." Was he telling her to stay away? Or perhaps it was an invitation of sorts. Still, she didn't feel comfortable leaving the safety of her little webbed spot, deciding to stay where she was for the moment.

Upon closer inspection, the boy seemed to have an extra pair of arms as well- and what appeared to be antennae poking out from his hair. She almost didn't notice them at this distance, but after staring for a while she was able to make them out. Surprised, she called out once more, "Oh, you're like me! I'm an X Form too, and an insect as well," slowly, she plucked her legs out from the sticky bridge and felt her body floating once more. After a few panicked moments of spinning around uncontrollably, she managed to gather her bearings and control the sensation.

She was flying. Although the new sensation was frightening at first, soon a smile began to appear on her face for the first time in what seemed like forever. Looking back up towards the boy, she tried to float her way over to him, waving with one of her humanoid arms. "I won't interrupt your fishing," she started, "but are you okay? And do you know why we're here?" she inquired, floating closer to him but trying to maintain a respectable distance. Perhaps he had a better idea of what was going on?

As Haru stabilized himself in the air, he looked over at the girl across the treetops. She was a spider girl, and she was sitting in her spider web. Haru’s eyes widened. Spider webs would be great fishing nets… He had to get into that web and steal some of the string.

Haru nodded, satisfied, when she responded with “okay.” She knew what he meant. Finally, the boy pushed off of the crimson energy around him, using it like a strange sort of full body cane. He hovered down and landed on both feet, stabilizing himself. She exclaimed out to him, relating to the boy over their shared heritage and shared species similarity.

The boy held his fish close to his chest and nodded knowingly. “Yes, you are an X-Form,” he stated.

“But you are not a plainsmen. You are not from Egypt,” he told her, looking at her bright white skin and listening to her strange foreign accent.

Haru crouched down on his knees, reaching his two bottom hands out— And then looked behind him, making eye contact with the spider. He quickly darted deeper into the forest, and when he found a suitable spot he crouched down and burrowed a small hole. The long dead fish dropped to the bottom, and Haru stood up, his antennae twitching as he made sure to remember the location.

Then, he back out of the underbrush in several large leaps, losing control and levitating off into the air two out of the three times.

Finally, when he returned, he decided to address the girl’s question from before he left. “I’m okay.” Haru stated blankly. He had no idea why they were here, but he was in this strange new place and he was hungry and there were places to fish and that was good enough for him.

“Come down,” Haru ordered her. But wether or not she obeyed, he would hop over to another tree, closer to the lake, and pick up a sharp solid stick. It appeared to have fish guts stuck to it.

Nodding in response to his statements and commands, she waited for him while he trotted off for whatever reason until he came back, asking her to come down with him. Taking a deep breath, she focused for a moment and willed herself to move back towards the ground, her 8 legs daintily making contact with the surface once more after a few minutes. She still felt the tug against her body as if it wanted to fly, but as long as she concentrated she'd be able to stay on the ground.

"Alright, I'm down now" she stated, moving towards the boy as he picked up some sort of sharpened stick that seemed to have... fish guts all over it. Awesome.

Making sure to keep her distance since she was still wary of the situation, she tailed behind wherever the boy would lead her, deciding to get say a few things and ask some questions. "Umm, my name is Daniela" she remarked, continuing behind him. "Is there umm, any reason you're fishing? Are you hungry- or is that what we're supposed to be doing here?" he memories of the events leading up to this moment were hazy at best, making the situation all the more frustrating. Were they abandoned? Had the events at the election all been some kind of sick nightmare- or rather was this some sort of dream? She was able to fly after all...

Deciding to help out if possible, she moved over towards the trees nearby to find something of use. After a bit of searching, she came across a particularly pointy looking twig, snapping it off its tree after a moment or two of struggling. It was by no means as sharp or effective as the boy's purposefully designed spear- but it should be able to function.

"How's this?" she asked, turning to face the dark-skinned boy as she displayed the twig, hoping it'd be enough to satisfy him.

Haru nodded satisfactorily as the girl climbed down from her web of branches. The twelve year old near-mute put his hands on his hips and smiled at the girl’s expression at his fishing stick. “I have nothing better to use,” he told her with a patronizing smile, still holding his gut stained fishing stick.

The boy took his stick in two of his hands and put the other two on his hips. He began trekking through the brief clearing in the forest, answering her questions along the way. “I’m hungry,” he said simply. “Aren’t you?”

Throughout his entire life, Haru learned that questioning things didn’t get you far. Questioning his parents, questioning the rules, questioning the fish you were hunting for… None of it was any use. You just had to take what you need, and that was that.

Haru chuckled again as thte girl stopped and struggled to snap a twig off a tree. Haru was getting excited now: she wanted to help, so she would probably give him some of that string for free without him even having to steal it from her.

“Good,” Haru grunted, turning away from her with a smile. This whole scenario was very absurd, but questioning strange situations only made things worse. You just had to use the situation to your benefit. If Haru questioned the fighting arena he was brought to in south egypt, he never would’ve made it past day one. You just have to accept the world around you and take your bite out of it.

And with that, the twelve year old embraced the absurd. “Let’s fly to the river.”

He bent down his insect legs and shot into the air.

"Hungry?" she repeated back to him as the idea slowly began to dawn at her. She'd been so preoccupied with her disillusion at her circumstances that she hadn't even paid any mind to her body. Now that the young boy mentioned it, she was hungry. Absolutely famished. Had it been long since she'd last had a meal? After all, she couldn't remember hardly anything before she was plopped down here.

Rubbing her stomach, she let out an embarrassed giggle, turning slightly red. "Now that you mention it, I could use a snack". Daniela found it strange that the boy hadn't introduced himself when she gave her name, but it wasn't something that bothered her too much. Perhaps he hadn't heard her- or maybe he was just the shy type. If so, she could understand how he felt: if the boy wasn't someone younger than her, she would've been embarrassed to talk as well, never having been good at holding conversations with people.

Taking to the skies once more after a moment of struggling to get back off the ground and gain control, she flew behind the young boy until they reached the river. Once they arrived, she floated back down to the ground, her arachnid legs making contact with the damp soil underneath. The ground here was fairly wet- which made sense considering they were right by a river, but still it felt nice. These were the type of environments that she felt coziest in.

She'd wait for the boy to land before following him to wherever he'd lead her, holding her pointy stick awkwardly in her two human-like arms. If she wanted to eat- she'd have to earn it! "Alright! Umm, do you mind showing me how this works?" she asked sheepishly, feeling bad about her lack of knowledge. Still, she'd do anything to satiate her hunger right now, so she'd do her best to learn.

Haru crouched down, bending his legs at an unnatural ant angle before flicking off skyword. He was carried by a seemingly frictionless force: just one leap made him feel as if he could keep flying forever. The boy soared over the treetops, leading the spider across the canopy before eventually landing down by the riverbank.

He touched down, hands tight around his spear as his eyes scanned the murky water near the bay of the river.

The girl spoke up, asking him to teach her how to fish. Haru simply nodded silently, trekking a few feet closer to the shore. The boy felt the wet soil between his toes and took quiet, deep breaths.

“You have to listen,” Haru said, his eyes focusing on the water below. The boy waded out a few feet in, and felt his ankles submerge in the river. The shallow part of the river tickled at his ankles, and he buried his feet an inch into the loose bottom soil.

Specks of dark underbrush and pebbles were constantly moving along with the flow of the water, but Haru’s eyes were more trained. He took a few more steps out into the river. This wasn’t how he was used to fishing at all. He knew his way around a fishing rod better than anyone, but fishing by spear was something he had only attempted a few times, when he was much younger, before he could afford a rod.

The boy crouched as close as he possibly could to the water… And struck immediately at the source of a sudden movement. He managed to spear— A leaf.

“It’s hard.” The twelve year old turned back to the girl, “But I got one before.”

The girl was eager to learn how to make her own way in the world, watching as the boy began to wade into the shallow part of the river- crouching down, focused on trying to spear a fish. As she watched him crouched down for a moment or two, her stomach began to grumble once more. This hunger...she'd never felt anything like it before. It wasn't the same as when you ate lunch or dinner a little bit later than normal- it felt like every fiber of her being was screaming EAT- EAT RIGHT NOW!

Daniela tried to pull herself together. What had started as a light rumble had become a desperate and vicious desire to feed- how long had it been since her last meal? The more primitive, spider like part of her began to take over as her kind but timid personality seemed to disappear. Her instincts were finally kicking in. She needed to eat, and lo and behold a vulnerable meal was right in front of her, completely distracted. Try as she might to fight off her more primal instincts, her body's desire to feed overcame her sense of rationality. Now that her state of mind was weak and frail from all the recent events, she had no strength left to reject what nature demanded.

Silently, she made her way up behind the boy as he watched for a fish to catch, moving surprisingly quick due to how her body was suited for the terrain. Just a few more steps now and she'd be right up behind the kid, and he'd be none the wiser. Granted- this wasn't like Diana at all. In fact, she'd never felt this way before. Maybe it was because she'd always lived a relatively cushioned life, surrounded by love and always kept well fed: but now she had no one left to turn to, and her stomach was driving her crazy as her rationality seemed to leave.

Eat. Feed. Kill.

Once she was right up behind the boy, just as he thrust his spear to catch what would only be a leaf- she unhinged her powerful jaw and attempted to sink right into the back of his neck and take a huge bite out of him.

Haru hunched over the surface of the water, and suddenly thrust his spear down into the leaf— Only just then, he heard the pittering of water, as if chopsticks were being stabbed into the river behind him. The boy wouldn’t have noticed anything if it weren’t for the sound; for some reason, even though he heard the sound, he didn’t sense anything approaching in his peripheral vision. And it was for that reason that he didn’t understand the imminent danger of the situation.

He would never make that mistake again.

The girl’s jaw plunged into the back of his neck, taking a bite around the boy’s tiny twig of a neck. Immediately, out of instinct, Haru thrust his topmost right arm backwards, stabbing his elbow stinger into the assailant. Once his instinct kicked in, he spun around, tearing away from her grasp. The boy’s entire body was screaming in pain: his neck was bleeding wildly from four holes. It looked bad, but luckily only one of the fangs had pierced a more vital vein.

Immediately after, Haru’s two left arms swung upwards, pressing against the side of the neck and adding pressure to the wound. He would have to act fast.

But for a brief, eternal instant, Haru was paralyzed: he had trusted this girl, and now she had tried to kill him. The look in her eyes… It was a look of fear, of hunger, of mania. She wasn’t in control of her own actions. And yet he had no choice now…

He had no choice but to knock her out, at least.

Immediately, Haru lashed back. His arm cranked back into a tight sharp angle, and suddenly whipped forwards with incredible speed, his antlike joints and muscles unleashing the full extent of their strength as his fist went soaring towards the side of her head!

The girl felt a primitive glee as she munched the boy's puny flesh with delight- really letting the blood and cartilage slosh around on her tongue for a few moments before swallowing it whole. What she did not enjoy so much, however, was the sharp stinger of the boy's elbow. The power behind the hit was much more than she expected from such a small little guy- not only did it send her careening a few steps backwards, but it also made her begin to feel woozy- her body feeling fainter and more sluggish.

She wasn't as prepared for his next attack.

Despite her improved speed in the terrain at first, once she'd entered into the river proper she was about as fast as the boy himself- combine that with how sluggish her body felt and she wasn't able to avoid the powerful punch thrown her way- sailing right into the side of her head. It wasn't just a painful wound- her right ear was literally torn off by the force of the blow in her weakened state, falling down into the shallow river below as blood poured out from the side of her head.

What was an insatiable hunger now turned to blind rage- what was this prey to stand try and defy her?! Her eyes were still glazed over, the timid and kind Canadian girl long gone as she bared her fangs and made a loud, guttural hissing noise. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" she let out a screeching howl as she thrust herself into the air with the force of the energy tugging on her, throwing a sticky web at the boy to slow him down as she reached an acceptable height, before trying to drop herself down on the child from above, using the force of her sharp, 8 legs to try and pierce into his body and finish him off.

Haru watched as the girl went down, narrowing his eyes. "Are you good now?" Haru asked quietly, ducking down into a fighting position, his hands still pressed on his wound to stop the bleeding. But her wound looked even worse than his, and was still bleeding.

Just as Haru was about to step forwards and help the girl up, she ripped her body from the water, standing up as if an undead puppet, her body being manipulated by some unknown force. She unleashed a guttural scream, and Haru immediately ducked into a fighting position. However, much to his surprise, the girl leapt high into the air.

A sudden net of webbing shot down, and the gooey strings tangled around his bottom two arms and wrapped around his neck, actually bandaging his wounds, but slowing down his movement. Luckily, the boy wouldn't need to move in the next few moments- All he was going to need was strength, because the girl immediately came soaring down from above!

Haru pulled his topmost arm back, ducking low into the water. The crazed spider girl came falling down from a sizeable height, and just as her abdomen encompassed him and her slender legs moved in to stab him, he thrust his fist upwards, slamming it hard into the bottom of her body.

If his plan was successful, the sudden impact would cause whiplash as her body and spine suddenly compressed between the impact of his blow and the momentum of falling: at the very least, he attempted to slam her hard in the abdomen an finish her consciousness off.

As Daniela descended upon her prey, still completely absorbed in her predator instincts, the boy's fist came slamming hard against her abdomen. Her legs that were about to pierce the boy's body shot up horizontally, and a cracking noise could be heard from within her bulbous spider body as the girl's eyes rolled back into her head and she was launched back into the air for a moment.

A second or two later, she plopped onto the ground unceremoniously a few feet away, clearly unconscious. Haru Mostafa would be the victor, and she would hopefully return to normal upon waking up.

Daniela would pop out of the daze she was in and fell to her feet. Mercutio would look on, chuckling softly before calling to his Doctor. "Goose-guy." he yelled as he watched Haru bleed out rather fast. "We've got a bleeder."
