Rivers of tears ran down her face as she stood in line in silence as they boarded the transport. She refused to show any more weakness than she already had. The mutually pale haired woman swiftly escorted her away with a few of the other orphans to and from certain locations during their transport. All Renata could think to herself was, how could she get out of this situation. Thoughts of escape overtook her sadness- she was not going to waste time crying and sobbing like the others. Not one person here- if you could personify these heartless destructive monsters- cared. She avoided looking at any of the people escorting them as she feared her life would amount to very little very soon if she allowed the beast of her rage to consume her. She sighed and continuously rubbed her pale eyes, doing everything she could to overcome her sudden bouts of grief. When she was finally seated, she collapsed into herself, drowning out the flight in the abyss of dreamless sleep.

On Elysium

Upon landing, all the children were told to line up immediately and wait for orders. While most of the children themselves were still wearing their clothes from the election many, including Renata, had clothes that were tattered and torn from the blast. She wondered if these militaristic brutes would give them new clothing, but judging from the size of the isle, she doubted it. Though she could not expect mass murderers and kidnappers to actually care about those they had hurt.

Posted Image

As she stood she let out a small huff- the closest she would allow herself to an actual sob- and tilted her head down so that her hair fell over her face and hid it. She did not deserve this, and not because she was some high and mighty princess, but because she was a good person. She wanted her family back. She bit her lip and forced these childish sentiments from her mind. Renata had no time for such thoughts.

She needed to get off of this island, but she did not even have a semblance of a plan yet. She seethed again, thinking of the man that murdered her family- no, he was no man. She would never address him again as thus. He was a monster, a plague, a pus-filled demon in this world that deserved to be cured by burning in the deepest pits of hell for his sins. But even as the fountains of her rage bubbled up from the deep, so did the freezing feeling of her grief come up from behind. Her sister, as full of light and life as she had been, was turned to dust. Her sun had super-nova’d and she was left in pitiless night.

Being the girlfriend of an individual like Mercutio, the Scottish woman was used to some very bizarre phonecalls. That, and she was also used to spending large portions apart. Her lover was often needed in other countries for matters concerning his Hero status, or he went on various wanderings. The last big bombshell he dropped on her was following a shared horrific event of theirs aboard the doomed Gala ship, and how he had been blinded, as well as having his arm blown off in front of her very eyes. There was a small amount of normality restored after that, and their following reconciliation aided them get back on track with their unique relationship.

Alana wasn’t one to stay in one place for too long, so she tended to travel around while her boyfriend was out on business as well. She just arrived back on the Iles of Elysium the day before the latest call to impart some rather… strange and astonishing news.

The elections that Mercutio had attended had become a bloodbath, as there was quite the disastrous accident that occurred. He told her that he was trying to suppress an individual in particular, and Sonomi, one of his students and residents of Elysium, had erased his quirk at a crucial moment which resulted in a catastrophic fallout of energy that obliterated thousands.

It was a lot to take in, even coming from her famous and immensely powerful lover, and she had been unable to say much even at the time. Now having a brief period of time to think it over, she was still no less flabbergasted by the news. Mercutio was to be bringing a good deal of orphaned children to the Iles to rehome them as a sign of goodwill following the accident, and well… Alana had her qualms with this course of action. As an orphan herself, she tried to stress the resentment that these kids would likely hold towards him, but his hands were somewhat tied.

WISH had demanded answers about what had happened, and well… some truths had to be a little bent.

So these children were to be living with them now. It was a good thing that a good amount of terraforming had taken place in Elysium, so that they could support the extra population that was coming their way. Although one would assume that Alana was the last person to hold any form of nurturing streak, due to her reckless and chaotic nature, a soft spot of hers would always be children; especially those in a situation like this. As such, she immediately volunteered herself to get everything ready for the arrival of all the children, and went about it swiftly.

Their ongoing project was still a massive work in process, but they still had a rather good base of amenities. On the main island, named after her, they had a small collection of stores and businesses which were getting started. One such business was a clothing store, and she went there first to gather as many items of clothing that she could. She enlisted the help of the few that remained on the island (most of them had gone to the elections also), and brought everything over to the island of Mia for the group’s arrival.

Next came food, water, and other such necessities. A good many industrial-grade soup heaters and stew-making later, and Alana had massive vats of beef stew readily available to give to the orphaned children, and fresh clothing was laid out in size order on various outdoor tables.

“They’ll be here soon…” She murmured to herself, drifting in and out of Kame House (her primary residence) while she waited.

Sure enough, the orphans arrived alongside Mercutio and the other people who departed with him. Alana briefly glanced at her boyfriend to try and read his expression, but was quick to shift her focus to the more pressing task of helping these scarred and broken kids. “I’ve gotten fresh clothes for all of you, and there’s plenty of food and fresh water should you want any.” She raised her voice somewhat to be heard, but it almost wasn’t necessary.

You’d be able to hear pins dropping, even on the sand beneath their feet.

She focused on helping to disperse clean clothes, and poured out bowls of stew for those who wanted some. Bottles of water were available to grab in iced buckets as well. Details on what had exactly happened and what these children would feel were hazy, so she was hoping that these would be revealed to her in due time.
Alana's Appearance

For now, she would do her best to aid the orphans. Undoubtedly looking unusual, she was sporting a new gothic Lolita dress and her long platinum blonde locks were instead shimmering and shifting through pale bubblegum shades, interspersed with pastel blue. It was as if her hair mimicked the seas. And her eyes followed suit in these patterns as well while concern and worry flooded through her system in equal measure. Her quirk made it quite easy to read her; what with the colour-changing that occurred whenever she felt any forms of emotions.

She turned to one individual in particular; a girl with hair as white as snow. Not only did the girl appear different to most of the others physically, she was stood defiantly and refusing to move any closer or accept any of the aid she had prepared.

Alana frowned as she walked over to the white-haired girl in her battered clothes, stopping short by a respectable distance and gesturing at the tables laden with clothes and food. “You’re welcome to whatever you want here.” She insisted, but without her usual biting tone. The playful and cheeky woman was gone, and in her wake, a mature and compassionate individual remained. Although she didn’t even begin to imagine what it must feel like to have lost family in such a manner, she could at least empathise in one way;

She, too, was an orphan. True, she was a woman grown now, but it was something that never changed or went away.

Mercutio drifted past them all, looking over the groups before a familiar, aura caught his notice with an odd reminisce of his Mother in her aura. Crimson wrapped around her as he drifted towards the Isle of Mia, "Are you a Bellacanto?" he muttered, not wanting to be seen or heard with what he was going to do. He scooped up Alana and took off towards Kame House. "Love, I think I am related to this girl." he whispered as he remained silent for the remainder of the flight.

Upon arriving on Alana, Mercutio dropped the girl in the sand and set Alana softly down before crossing his legs in the air. "Who are your parents?" he asked. Even though he was unable to see, he still had an idea of what was going on. If he could see her, he would know already. As quietly as possible he would ask Alana what the girl looked like.

Kaneda didn't remember most of the journey to Elysium. The transports were packed with hundreds, if not thousands, of kids, all varying in different ages, nationalities, and backgrounds. But due to the sheer quantity of them, the transports were packed full of scared and orphaned children, all being shipped to Elysium, meaning that even for someone as injured as badly as Kaneda, there wasn't much room. Inside, Elysium personal quickly began to try and stabilize Kaneda's condition. His current form wasn't necessarily in life-threatening shape, but his spine was broken and that meant there could be a multitude of other things going on inside of him, from internal bleeding to punctured lungs, that he could possibly not realize. As soon as he was in the transport, a small medical team quickly began to perform triage on him. Checking his vitals, taking blood samples, and of course, giving him a sedative to calm him down that ultimately put him to sleep.

Truth be told, Kaneda's condition wasn't good. Where his spine was severed meant that he would almost certainly never move his body again, unless assisted. He would never run, never play, never fight. Apart from his spine, the medical team quickly discovered broken ribs, most of which were hairline fractures that wouldn't be anything too serious. One or two were a bit more serious but would need him to not move for awhile. Various cuts and scrapes littered Kaneda's body from when he was caught in the blast, even some minor burns, but nothing was life-threatening. On some level, however, Kaneda almost wished that he had been killed in that blast. To have his mobility taken from him, in turn relinquishing him from his dream to be a hero, that was a fate even worse than death. But as he fell into his deep rest, letting the medical team work, he would fall unconscious, letting the sway and sounds of the transport rock him asleep.

Once on Elysium, as the Orphans would be herded out of the transports, Kaneda was placed upon a stretcher by two of the same Elysium personnel that worked on him while another walked with them, carrying an IV bag of morphine. Moving through the crowds, the team would carry Kaneda from the transport to a tent that had been set up for anyone with medical problems, and this definitely constituted as a medical problem. Kaneda was carried in and placed on one of the small field cots that littered the tent, the medical team telling the on-site doctors what his condition was and what exactly could happen. Drifting in and out, Kaneda could hear their voices in brief bursts, catching pieces of the conversation.

"...L-5 through T-9 are completely shattered. No nerve reaction from any extremities or limbs. Blood pressure is extremely high and rising and his BPM is through the roof, even when sedated..."

"...Serious spinal damage. No internal bleeding, however. His body is still in shock. If he wakes up while his body is in this state of panic, it could cause irreparable damage. Put him under."

Kaneda could feel the mask being strapped to his mouth, unable to fight or protest their decision. He didn't want to go back to sleep. When he did, he felt the blast. He felt the heat on his skin. The splinters of shrapnel spraying past him. He saw his mentor's lifeless body staring back at him. He heard the screams of those killed, and then he heard the brief moments of utter silence. He tried to resist the gas's effects, trying to focus on whatever he could to stay awake.

"No, no... gotta...stay. Happy thoughts. Hikaru. Kawa. Mom. Becoming a hero. Please. No. No." He strained against the gas, feeling the chemicals slowly putting him to sleep.

"Doctor, he's still struggling. I think he's... trying to fight going to sleep." One of the nurses spoke, turning to look at Kaneda as his head moved back and forth, struggling to stay awake. The doctor looked at him, moving over to the tank of anaesthesia, checking the gauge. Letting out a slow hum, he tapped his chin, bringing his focus back to the nurse.

"Give him another round of morphine. 30 CC's." He said. The nurse would nod, getting the needle prepared. Kaneda only continued to struggled, no audibly moaning. Moving over to him, the nurse would give him another shot, and Kaneda would drift into blackness once more......

"Oh, I love strong children."

The voice shadowy monster he has fought in what seemed like ages ago filled his head, a fever dream forced into illusion, Kaneda now seeming to face his darkest fear. He opened his eyes, but could only see darkness. All around him in e ery direction, complete and total darkness. And yet, Kaneda felt like he had ground to stand on. This place was dark and damp and cold, Kaneda's own breath hovering in the air, bumps rising on his skin from the bite of the crisp, biting air. And then, there it was again.

The shadow monster that had attacked him, Oni. An evil aura filled the air, causing the hair on the back of Kaneda's neck to rise. His blood was boiling, his heart was racing. The illusion moved forward to him, a long shadowy finger connected to slender and equally dark arm escaped the mass of shadows, reaching out to Kaneda. He tried to move, to run, to escape, but he was paralyzed once more. He twisted his head, but his gaze seemed unable to escape the illusion's form. The long finger brushed against Kaneda's chin as he struggled to move, the angrogynous voice speakng up once again, the nightmare never ending.

"...Like a Momma Bird, I shall push you from the nest now... because I believe the time is right. "

Kaneda felt like he had heard these words before, but when? Was it from when he had faced this thing last? Or was his mind only now making up dialogue? He couldn't discern the differenc between reality and nightmare, and so it only continued. Oni's long finger dragged away from Kaneda's chin, up his cheek, a long scratch forming from his jaw, up to the scar on his eye, drawing a small bit of blood. Kaneda winced at the pain, feeling the strange searing heat that he had when his feet had been caught in Oni's shadow inside the car. The being of shadow only seemed to delight in Kaneda's struggling, or more so, his lack of ability to. Chuckling to itself, the long and slender finger would move again, towards his mouth, placing itself against it.

"Shh, child, do not fight it. It will only make this even more incredibly painful." The nightmare would whisper to him. Kaneda's eyes would widen as he realized he was about to succumb to torture, his body completely usesless. Oni's finger moved again, this time opening Kaneda's mouth. He would moan and try to scream, but only silence would be heard. He could feel the heat inside of his mouth. He could feel the sharpness of the finger against his tongue. His heart would begin racing even faster, panic setting in. And then slowly, Oni would begin to push the slender talon into Kaneda's mouth. His body felt like it was heating up as the shadows creeped into him. He wanted to scream so badly, but no sound could escape him. Shadows would seemed to begin to pour out his nose and ears, overtaking his head. He only continued to fight and struggle, Oni enjoying this more and more. The shadows creeped downward, covering his torso, his arms, constricting them. He felt himself moving now, and the burning of Oni all around him. His own body was begin absorbed, taken in by Oni. Suddenly able to use his arms, he began to flail, trying to tear out of the shadow. Tearing at the bits of shadow that had overtaken his limbs, he reached outward, trying to tear his way out, but could feel himself being absorbed, assimilated. Screaming and grunting and roaring, Kaneda could only postpone the inevetible. The shadows creeped back up his arm as he reached outward one more time, before letting the darkness envelop him, the nightmare seeming to end....

____________________________________________________

Reality was much calmer. Kaneda sat on the bed, motionless, now hooked up to a portable digital monitor that showed his heartrate. A small blip would indicate a sudden rise, then fall, the long nightmare but a mere second to Kaneda. He would simply wince a single time in his sleep before returning to normal, his BPM falling again, this time to a more natural and medicated range.

Renata had never been so unceremoniously dealt with in her entire life. Not only was her conversation interrupted by her father’s killer quite literally swooping down and sweeping her off the ground, she had completely forgotten the scathing comment she was about to give the woman when they were both suddenly taken. Renata found that she intensely disliked being touched by her family’s killer. So when he dropped her on another beach as swiftly as he had picked her up, she made sure to tuck and roll into the drop and came up on her feet about a meter away.

Dusting herself off, she faced him and the woman, expecting them to do no less than kill her, and instead was greeted with something else that garnered an immediate and intense disbelief. The monster asked her who her parents were, and then whispered to his minion about her looks. Her family had died, she had been kidnapped, and now not only had this murderer touched her with his filthy hands, he was being rude?

“Do not dare to speak about me to your minion as if I were not here.” Renata snapped, standing to her full height, her silver eyes going cold as ice.

She was infuriated by this turn of events and her italian accent held no quarter when she spoke english. “I see no reason to give a group of murderous monsters my family history. And you,” she said, turning to the woman. “You dare to act compassionate after he incinerates my parents? My sister!? Absolutely NAUSEATING.” She fumed for a few seconds, struck speechless by their insensitivity. “Take me back to the other place with the rest of those godforsaken children that you have stolen. If some of them aren’t dead or dying by the time we return, I will trust that the food was not poisoned and I will eat.” After this, she simply sat in the sand facing away from them both. She knew it was childish but it gave her a minuscule satisfaction that she needed right now. They didn't kill her yet, so if she was dead to rights, she wasn't going to dishonor the Bellacanto name.

She didn't think that she would ever get used to Mercutio's bizarre, spontaneous behaviour; no matter how long they spent together.

So when he drifted over to the isle of Mia using his crimson energies, and proceeded to scoop Alana and the scowling orphan girl up, his lover was looking at him with pure surprise and an otherwise incredulous stare. Who was going to help the orphaned children?! She supposed it would be in the hands of the others... most of whom were little more than teenagers or children themselves.

Sigh.

Nevertheless, she paid attention when she heard her boyfriend's murmurings. Bellacanto...? Related...? Now, it went without saying that Alana undoubtedly knew Mercutio better than anybody else on earth. She knew of his real heritage and was all too aware of what it meant to him. This island itself was named after his little sister, Mia, after all. It was a question that he constantly returned to; what was happening with his family? Did they even know of his existence? And so on, and so forth. In this way, he and Alana were rather similar. She wanted nothing more than to learn of her heritage and where she came from, so she could understand the obsession.

When they landed at Kame House, a short distance away on the island of Alana (her namesake), the spectral woman calmly laid her feet down on the sand as she was gently released. Mercutio proceeded to ask the orphaned girl who her parents were; casually floating up in the air somewhat with crimson red aura pouring from him.

His girlfriend gave him 'the look' after that question was asked. Honestly, the girl was just orphaned! Asking about her parentage seemed to be somewhat inappropriate, surely. He proceeded to ask Alana what the girl looked like, and she turned to properly look at the orphaned teen.

"White-silver hair. Average height." She spoke just as quietly to Mercutio as when he had initially asked the question, eyebrows raising as she tried to picture any semblance between what he used to describe as his little sister and this girl. Now that she thought about it... they certainly seemed very similar indeed. "She looks like she could be related to Mia." Alana nodded in an appraising manner; rather sure of this fact now with further reflection.

And well, apparently the girl was less than pleased following this entire sequence.

First of all, this stranger made the mistake of referring to Alana as her lover's 'minion'. Her previously pastel shades that shifted through her hair and eyes changed, hardening to a rather bold burgundy shade intermixed with crimson, delicate hands balling into fists at her sides slowly, and with purpose. No, do not get angry at an orphaned child. Don't do it. The girl's confused and hurt. Do not... under any circumstances lash out.

That proved to be easier said than done.

Insults were hurled at Alana and Mercutio as if they gushed forth from a hosepipe. 'Murderous monsters'. Oh, they just kept coming. Apparently showing kindness and understanding wasn't a good thing to do nowadays, so Alana was biting her tongue hard enough to draw blood while she held herself back from losing her temper.

However, holding this anger back had a very visible effect outwardly. Rainbow-coloured flames started to erupt across her body; licking around her clenched fists, pouring from her arms and legs, illuminating her hardened and dangerously irate expression. Her hair now took the appearance of a roaring inferno, as did her eyes. The spectral flames on her arms suddenly shot towards the ground, and snaked with alarming quickness right for the orphaned girl where she stood.

In a matter of mere milliseconds, the flames had snaked into a fiery prison by way of lines above the sand; crackling and spitting loudly as the rainbow colours continued to blaze.

"If I was some minion or murderer... don't you think I'd have made good on killing you, and all those children, by now...?" Her voice was low and dark; portraying the barely restrained rage that coursed through her body at this moment. It seemed that showing compassion and kindness was always a poor decision of hers, and time and time again, she had this thrown back on her face. First there was that ridiculous Hero child, and now this impertinent brat.

"There are forces at work here that you won't even begin to understand." She added in the same thinly veiled tone of rage as before, hair splayed out in its crimson, sprawling shades. After simply snapping her fingers, the burning 'prison' she made around the orphaned, ungrateful brat disappeared, and the flames across her body started to vanish.

"If you don't need my help, I'll make sure that there aren't any clothes or food left for you. I have work to do." Alana turned sharply, hair and eyes still burning in blazing colours as she did so.

Why, she ought to have slaughtered the brat where she stood... but that would only prove the twisted point that was trying to be made by the petulant child.

OOC Notes: Please Read

It wasn’t every day that you received a call out of the blue to go forth and urgent save someone’s life, and especially not in such bizarre circumstances. Eve was off duty for the day and received a message through the pager that she kept when she was ‘on call’ for Spectrum, but that was cryptic and barely revealed any information. It was from Red Justice, her boss, and requested that she high-tail it to U.A. Academy.

When receiving a message like that, you didn’t simply sit there and puzzle over it; you got up and left. She pulled on some shoes that matched and grabbed a coat before running out of her apartment, only just remembering to lock up after herself in the process.

Due to her apartment’s advantageous place of residence, she was able to reach U.A. Academy within ten minutes, and she was permitted entry by the reception staff. Feeling a little out of breath but on high alert, she was quickly met by the U.A. Principal who led her to the southern forests of the school that she knew so well. She wasn’t given any further information until they were safely outside in the empty school grounds, and even then what he told her wasn’t exactly complete by any means.

He relayed some details of a disaster in Africa, and the resulting fallout that it caused in terms of medical atrocities and wounds. He had been contacted by Mercutio D. Regalis (or Bellacanto, whatever he called himself nowadays), and the enigmatic man had requested her specifically to rush out to islands under construction to administer life-saving treatment.

‘Of all the world-class medics… he requested me?’ She couldn’t help thinking to herself while she stumbled to keep up with the Principal, hands buried deep in her winter coat pockets. She was painfully aware of the status and Fame that Mercutio had managed to rack up since the Heroics Exams, so surely he would have friends in higher places than her by now? She recalled the time that she did manage to save the life of a student of his, before successfully working with the medical staff to attach a limb for the dying boy also. Perhaps that was why he requested her specifically…

Nevertheless, she was led inside the U.A. forests and taken to a small beacon-like structure. Upon touching the item, quite the bizarre phenomenon took place. It felt as if all she did was blink, and when she next opened her eyes, she was stood inside…

A… house?

She jumped back on the spot, startled by this change in scenery, and immediately started to examine all of the new details around her. Where on earth was she? And what had just happened? Plus… why on earth was it so hot? Eve discarded her duffel coat and brushed off her grey sweater before adjusting the pastel pink skirt she wore, unable to fight away the sudden spike in air temperature. Had she been transported to a desert or something all of a sudden?
Eve's Outfit

It turned out that she wasn’t too far off, in actuality. Upon emerging from the door (it didn’t take too much navigation to find, consequently, due to the house’s lack in size), she was blinded by bright sunshine. Golden beaches spanned out in front of her, and jewel-coloured oceans stretched beyond that. So she was on an island? Her mind was cast back to the time that Mercutio appeared from seemingly nowhere on U.A. grounds with a bleeding boy, and this all started to make a little more sense.

Not much, but it was a start.

She took off her grey sweater and discarded it inside the house with her duffel coat, before stepping out onto the island itself from the small building called ‘Kame House’. Not having watched a certain anime just yet, she was yet to understand the reference. Instead, she was a lot more concerned about why she had been called here, and what patients needed her assistance.

“Mercutio?” She called out towards a male swathed in crimson aura. That was him, alright. He seemed to be with… her heart briefly skipped a beat, and she stopped dead in her tracks as her eyes adjusted to the white-haired figure stood near Mercutio. Was that…? No. It had only seemed as such from a distance. There was no way. Upon closer inspection, she was correct; this wasn’t who she had thought it was.

“Would you mind explaining why you require my assistance, and why a metal-pronged instrument somehow whisked me to a tiny house on a desert island…?”

Mercutio listened and nodded along to Alana's words, ignore the 'child's'. Crimson would wrap around her throat and begin to crush down on Renata's wind pipe. Crimson mist would swirl and shift before Renata's eyes as an anime styled face gave way and a kabuki mask eeriely drifted behind it.

"Don't assume you are safe; since I spoke loud enough for you to hear me." he said as the ominous face grew larger, the female more charming and inviting, yet the feeling of unease growing. " If you learn fast enough before I beat you senseless, you'll see I act like that all the time." he muttered before making land fall and shrugging them both off onto the beach and dispersing the odd crimson faces.

"Love, Eve will be here soon. Just try not to talk to her, I need her here to fix the cripple, eh?" he muttered casually as she walked away giving a flippant response. "She is something..." he cooed dreamily, shaking the feeling off quickly in order to focus. AS Alana went in, it was only a moment before the lights flickered and flashed and the door would open to reveal Eve. "Oh, good. The Doctor is in." he laughed, knowing the aura anywhere.

"Hey now, this isn't a desert island, it's tropical... I have a coconut tree!" he said, pointing in the wrong direction because the tree wasn't alive and therefore couldn't see it. "I already have him hibernated or whatever you people call it in my medical ward downstairs." he said rather calmly, "And I pick you because I know you will come to someone in need. It's what I like most about you Eve. You are an amazing person." he said honestly.

'She could easily take over were Lucy left off. The next Symbol of Peace.' he thought to himself.

"This is Mia's Step-Sister Renata by the way. I might have killed her parents too... so, this is another reason I asked for you." he said as he walked inside and flipped the table to the side of the room. He tore away the rug from the floor to reveal a door and quickly worked through the many combinations, scans, tests and locks. The hatch began to take in air like it was sealed shut and locked away tight, a bit of sand that was in the house puffing up around them from it all. Mercutio swung open and forcefully "helped" Renata inside as he wanted her to see what else he did other than systematically murdering people. Next, he would jump down and after they were all inside, he would activate the sealing process.

Kaneda would be laying on life support, tube set down his throat with a bunch of chickens hovering around. "Don't ask, but they are sterile." he said, speaking over the chickens. "So, don't make me a liar now, can you fix this guy? It totally wasn't me that did this to him or anything..." he said with a whistle, not all to worried about what was going on. It was almost like he was flirting.

After a bit of bullshit, he remembered who else was around and turned to Renata. "So, this was another person at the event even though they are mangled and destroyed... I am willing to put everything in my power to finding a way to correct this imbalance. Luckily, I know the right people." he cooed.

"Shall I leave you to your work?" he asked, attempting to not stumble over chickens.

At some point, he was transferred from the medical tent to inside the house and down into a proper medical room, albeit chickens running amock didn't give that impression. But a proper oxygen tube had been inserted down his throat, most likely the physical act of doing that giving way to his Oni dream and the fingers down his throat. When the group entered the room, Kaneda would lay motionless still, sedated all to hell, but not nearly as much as he had been before. A faint beep of a heart monitor filled the air with it's steady rhythm, counting each beep by the second, evidence that despite his broken body, his heart was still strong. If anything, his heart was the reason he was still alive. What he went through should have killed him, but due to the sheer amount of adrenaline pumping through is veins at the time, his heart, his own will, kept him from falling into the eternal abyss.

His eyes opened slightly as Mercutio spoke to the doctor, Kaneda only hearing part of the sentence.

"...I am willing to put everything in my power to finding a way to correct this imbalance. Luckily, I know the right people."

So he had kept his word. Kaneda had wondered for awhile if he was going to, or if Kaneda was just another loose end. But while Mercutio had taken, he was now giving, or doing his best to. To the drugged up Kaneda, the doctor looked almost angelic, probably due to the lighting, but he didn't know better. And as the Crimsoul finished speaking, Kaneda would roughly whisper to the doctor, unsure if she could even hear him.

"...Are you... going to fix.. me?"

Renata laughed when she saw the poor boy on life support. Or rather the horror of the boy on life support. She knew it was wrong, and she actually did not mean to laugh, but hysteria fought its way through her lips. She could only laugh when such horrors were in front of her. She laughed until she doubled over and cried- then continued to laugh. It was horrifying. While he was covered in seemingly superficial wounds, the amount of wires he was hooked up to was terrifying in its own way. She wished that she could stop. But it was all so ridiculous. Really now. This man sought to make her fear for her life more than she already did after her sister and father had been incinerated in front of her and NOW he wanted her to understand what? That he was not all that bad.

She sat on the floor and said in the direction of the boy in the bed, “I am sorry if you hear me laughing while you are asleep. I assure you that I am neither laughing at you nor your situation, which I am sure is absolutely dire. I even hope that you make it through. But you,” she said turning to Mercutio and chuckling, cackling was the better word. “You brought me here for what? To show me what? That you do some good that stems from the all the evil you have done? That you make at least some attempt at...repairing the damage you have caused?” She began to shriek with laughter, having to actually sit down as she wheezed. This was obviously not the same crazed expression as Valerie earlier had. This was simply a young child who hasn't figured out the world yet. Naivity, combined with facing her own mortality. These people could crush her within an inch of her life and she was powerless against it. It dawned on her. She howled, dangerously close to breaking down and crying, but she just could not stop laughing. “ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!” she screeched, holding her sides. She’d never laughed so hard in her life. The new woman would appear forth to a young girl who was clearly having early signs of some sort of anxiety.

Posted Image

What they did not understand was that she knew just how little her life actually meant at this moment. They could crush her with ease, they were both clearly strong enough to. And yet she could not stop. She had lost too much and been through more in far too short of a span of time. She was choking on the fact that this was her reality. “I am terribly sorry, but if you wish to continue talking with me... you are going to have to give me a sedative. I seem to have lost a piece of my mind in the past five minutes.” She really had not meant to say that, but it was uproariously funny nonetheless. She fell on the floor now, completely lost in her hysteria a lost look in her eye, but underneath it was still a light of determination, someone who hasn't given up yet. However, she was young and her upbringing, her foundation was dashed and burned into nothingness. She hadn't learn to fly yet.

Apparently, the island she suddenly found herself on wasn’t a desert island at all, and was instead tropical… simply because there was a coconut tree. The plum-haired girl turned her head to look in the direction that Mercutio pointed and raised an eyebrow. Was he pulling her leg…? She certainly wouldn’t put it past him.

“Alright, tropical island.” She corrected herself with emphasis, unable to hold back a small chuckle at the insistence. Indeed, there was quite the difference between something in desert, and something tropical, but she couldn’t spot any signs of plant life around this location. However, the tone shifted drastically when her host moved onto the topic of why she had been called here. Apparently the patient was ‘hibernated’, and this made the medic start to panic slightly. What on earth… she had almost forgotten how clueless Mercutio actually was when it came to medical matters, what with how he reacted with his student and lack of arms at the time.

A barely-there sort of smile touched her lips in spite of herself, however, when the man explained that he chose her because he knew she would come to somebody in need. “But of course. That is what a Hero would do, especially one with the ability to save lives with medicine.” She had come a long way since saving Jonah’s life, it went without saying, and she was ready for the worst at present as she brushed her choppily cut short hair away from her face in preparation.

Being called an amazing person did make the somewhat shy girl blush a little, but she turned her head to hide it quickly. She was just using the skills she had gained to help the lives of others; to her, Heroing was a passion and a career, so she never really saw anything astounding in what she was doing.

Her attention was piqued and she picked her head straight back up at mention of her sister figure, Mia. This white-haired girl was… a step-sister to the other girl? Eve couldn’t help frowning to herself; she had never heard of such a relation to her best friend before. “I… I see.” She said with a frown clear in her tone, considering this and the implications of it. Wait, Mercutio had killed this girl’s parents?!

“You should be very glad that I am here to save somebody’s life.” She directed this firm and somewhat frightening tone at Mercutio, hands balling into somewhat tense fists. How… how on earth… she didn’t even want to know, she didn’t wish to think about it. That, and she was no fool. If she lashed out at Mercutio, she knew that his bizarre abilities would prove troublesome.

So for now, she left it at that and followed to exact her duty as a medical specialist.

A hatch was opened in the floor, and alarm bells started ringing in Eve’s head. What kind of place was this poor patient being kept…? She was beginning to run through various procedures in her head, not really knowing what to expect in the slightest. It was a bit of a bizarre room, but seemed fit for purpose in a bizarre kind of way… except the random chicken-like creatures hopping and flapping about.

“What on earth…” She was about to whirl on Mercutio and yell at him for such a contaminated medical bay, when he explained that the chickens were somehow… sterile?! Eve took a deep breath and the tenseness in her shoulders relaxed, shooting a glare at the male and turning to look at the hospital bed where a youth was laid out in a sorry state indeed.

Her attention became focused on her patient, and she immediately went over to the boy’s bedside, trained eyes scanning his body and gentle hands beginning to press on various spots to try and get a feel for what was going on. She was half-listening to what was going on around her, and she didn’t even take notice of the random medical chickens anymore.

“Are you... going to fix.. me?”

That hoarse whisper, coupled with the question from Mercutio as well, made her heart hammer that much firmer against her ribcage. Her sapphire blue eyes hardened as she stood there, having completed an initial analysis and already deeming the situation to be dire. The boy had full-body paralysis; it was something she had not yet encountered in her career as a medic. Probably originating from the spine, judging by how the boy was laid out, there was horrific nerve damage and pressure.

Her expression was set in a firm sort of softness as she looked the bed-bound boy in the eye, hand lightly resting on his shoulder. This sort of situation only cemented in her mind why she had become a Hero, and why she had insisted on becoming a medic to boot. That helpless look in somebody’s eye as they reached for a glimmer of hope… she would become that glimmer, and blaze into a bright beacon to guide the way forwards when times seemed their darkest.

“I swear on my life that I will save you.”

She claimed this with firmness and determination, as if there was no option of failure. She had no time to think about what would happen if she was unable to do anything to help this boy, because she had to focus on fixing him instead.

With the hysteria unfolding at her back, she calmly and coolly looked back over her shoulder at the crazed white-haired youth. “Miss Bellacanto, if you do not mind, I will be operating in this room. If you are indeed a relative of a girl whom I view to be my sister, you will understand how delicate this procedure will be.” She spoke levelly in spite of the momentous task that faced her, and then turned back to her patient on the table.

“I do not know how this situation came to pass, nor is it any of my concern. There will always be perils and devastation in this world, and it is my job to stand as a pillar of strength in those times. Such a time is nigh.”

She smiled warmly at the paralysed boy on the operating table, and lightly gestured with a hand at those behind her. “I will have to ask for utmost silence. Stay if you must, but be prepared to suffer the medic’s wrath if more than a pin drop is heard.” With that rather clear indication that she would require the utmost quiet and uncontaminated work environment, she cleared her throat and started to busy herself with preparations.

"Bossy as ever. Maybe we should leave you be." He said, going to the main level of the estate. It would seem Eve wasn't in the mood for bullshit.

"No, I brought you there to show you that, I could very well do this to you." he suggested, his aura flaring. "I could make you fight against the others too. There is a lot you will realize that I can and am willing to do. You've lost someone you thought to be a Hero. You are dumber than you look and must not be related to my baby sister. She was far wiser than your small, petty mind." he barked as crimson wrapped around him and condensed before lurching out to grab the girl and draw her close, face to face and eye to eye as she spoke about sedation and she would appear to him limb, but he spoke indifferently all the same.

"Listen to me, Brat. I can show you crazy, but I am no doctor and the only sedation I know is death. You shouldn't ask me for that..." he said simply, "unless you are willing to die of course." he said, tossing her out the door.

'Your Father was a crime lord and a scoundrel, his brother is a murderer and killed my Father and enslaved my Mother through fear. You know NOTHING; YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A SPOILED FUCKING CHILD!" he said as he drifted out the door, his words turning into screams as sand stormed in a wild flurry around him. "You lack fear, but you also lack intelligence. That will aid you into nothing other than death. Are you pretending you don't know of the crime syndicate or are you just as sheltered as I was until I made my self aware?" he ranted and asked, his words growing softer as he felt a bit of connection... 'She could just not know...' he thought. This is when his tone changed and the sands dropped around the both of them like snow.

"Look... if you don't move past this it will consume you. You, as you know yourself, will die and be replaced by this burden, guilt and rage. You can channel it, but right now your being so fucking illogical and petty it's disgusting." he said, his irritation self evident, but his mannerism calming down. It was unlike him to actually get angry, but with this girls connect to Mia, a lot of buried emotions were rising to the surface.

"What say you, Lady Bellacanto. Do you hate me? Do you want to kill me like I did your Father?" he said, not even knowing if he was the one to truly lay down the killing blow.

Hardly hanging on to consciousness, a voice pierced through the veil of his medicated and almost asleep state, replying back to his own question with a fierceness and tenacity that was beyond Kaneda's own comprehension, a voice that almost seemed angelic in nature, and to the paralyzed youth, was probably mistaken as one. Her hand on his shoulder was as soft as a feather, but he would not feel it. But her words, he would feel those resonate inside his skull, reverberate in his cranium and circulate through his soul. A promise of hope, of goodness, of another chance at life. As Kaneda clung so helplessly to his consciousness, he could feel himself growing tired and weak once again, his sedation coming back full force, strong enough to prevent him from opening his eyes wholly. Giving in to his tired state, he would simply nod once, and smile as he drifted back into the dark.

His sleep was not filled with demons or fear now, no. His sleep was quickly realized to be peaceful, no more dreams of Oni tearing away at his subconscious. No pain, no struggling, only sleep. The hard drugs running through his body mixed with hope from the good doctor only fueled his peaceful state even further, and for the first time in hours, he felt a sense of joy. She was going to save him, the boy who never asked to be saved. The boy who was always the one doing his best to save everyone else instead. As he drifted off to sleep, he made a silent promise to himself, something that only he could hear and something only he could keep himself accountable too, and that was to reinvigorate his will and drive to be a hero, and to be just like the woman who was helping him, and in a strange way, just like the guy who had done this to him. For once, Farren's words made sense to him, in a weird and twisted way, but he got it. The world needed a new caliber of hero to heed it's call.

He would be that hero.

Mercutio threw her out of the room so that the weird woman, who was apparently some kind of hero from a black-and-white sitcom who also just happened to be a doctor, could save that poor boy’s life. She hit the ground hard enough to knock the breath from her lungs, which thankfully also stopped her hysteria, as she had been just about ready to pass out from lack of oxygen. However when she head Mercutio’s accusation of her father she almost started to laugh again, but she controlled herself this time, at the very least. She did blink a bit in shock, however, and responded, “My father? You are claiming that my father was nothing more than a mere mafioso? And that he was somehow involved in the murder of your father? Merda. I do not believe it. And why should I believe a single word that comes from your aberrant mouth?”

Suddenly, Mercutio began to yell about her being nothing more than a spoilt child, and she blinked again. It appeared that her responses were muted due to her bout with hysteria. Then he calmed down just as suddenly, muttering to himself about not knowing because she had been sheltered. If he knew as much about her father as he claimed to, then she wanted to know. And what did he know of being sheltered? While Renanta was not usually one for snap judgments, Mercutio seemed to be in need of a shave, a hair cut, and a bath. She blinked again as she realized that she was having seemingly normal thoughts in the midst of all this chaos...her brain must have been throwing them out at her so that she would be able to cope. She was suddenly very, very tired, and it felt like the world was weighing her down slowly. Slowly, slowly, a thousand pounds at a time,

Her body seemed to be impossibly heavy when she looked back up at Mercutio and he asked her if she wanted to kill him like he did her father. Her father and her sister...she was overcome by a rip tide of nausea and sadness as she remembered their deaths at his hands. She opened her mouth to answer one second, and the next she was fainting away, like some simpleton damsel in distress in a fairy tale. But now, I haven’t got anyone to save me...she thought just before it all went dark and she was swallowed whole by the despair and anguish that had changed her life forever.

With everyone making the smart decision of leaving the room while Eve worked, she was able to put her full focus on healing the patient before her. She had been witness to some rather terrible wounds before, but something about this paralysis was different to her. Nerves and their inner workings were tricky, and she knew that just one false move, one wrong adjustment... could make this boy's situation even worse. She took a deep breath and exhaled again, calming herself and pulling an apron on before fastening it around herself.

It seemed that her patient was already down for the count shortly after she told him that she would do what she could to save him, and this made her smile slightly as she took a second to compose herself further. Moving with as much care as she could, she turned the youth over onto his back, and examined this area with her palms outstretched and bathed in a pastel orange light. Upon laying them on his body, warmth would begin to permeate his being in an unimaginable sense. She knew that he would be unable to feel anything, due to his lost consciousness and also his paralysis, but that feeling of warmth would still be felt if he were awake to feel it. She closed her eyes and focused on the inner workings of the area she had her hands pressed to, imagining a complex network of nerves and nerve-endings. The small pulses of healing energy that she outputted began to target these areas specifically, and slowly but surely, these endings that had become severed...

Began to pull themselves back together.

She maintained this contact with him for a long time indeed, envisaging every part of his nervous system that she touched with vivid detail. Obtrusive surgery would undoubtedly be far too dangerous to proceed with, and she was aware of this much, so unobtrusive methods with this stimulating pulse-like technique seemed to be the best way to go about reversing this paralysis. Eve thought about everything she had ever learnt about the human body and its inner workings, and teamed with her ability to 'feel' what ailments were within a patient, she was able to shift the youth around with this energy working its way through him and stimulating regrowth and repair.

It would be a long process. Even after she had done this initial appraisal and helped restore the most basic of cognitive functions, she wanted to ensure that it would last. She inhaled a deep breath and drew upon every ounce of her inner power, before resting one hand above his heart and the other on his stomach. A wash of ethereal orange light started to leave her body with such intensity that it racked her body with aches and pains; such a concentration of her lifeforce was now rushing to stimulate regrowth in another, and it would undoubtedly leave her feeling out of sorts. But she kept pressing this energy into the boy without halt or stop, until she no longer had anything left to give.

At the point where her head grew light and her vision grew blurry, she stopped transferring her power to him and instead started to regain her focus.

With shaking hands, she began to appraise his body again, heart all but in her mouth in this moment. Had her treatment been successful...? Only time would tell. She stumbled back into a chair beside the hospital bed, head in her hands while she tried to catch her breath. There would be no way that she'd be moving anywhere any time soon... instinctually, one of her hand slowly lowered from her head and rested on her patient's shoulder, and she kept pace with his breathing, his heartbeat, and all of his vital signs overall.

She wouldn't be leaving his side until he was free of his paralysis, and that was final.
