“Hmph.” Madoka watched the boy, standing cross armed with a slight lean. This kind of job seemed too easy at this point, what kind of work were these to actually doing? It must've been purposely light, after all, two teenagers were sent to do the job. The thug he had recently fought pulled a cheap trick, hoping to catch Pann off-guard but failed, ultimately resulting in his defeat as the husky fighter was tossed into the mix by the young man with darker hair. The bout was short, straight, and to the point.

Madoka took a deep stare in the direction of Rainer, locking eyes, producing a sense of unease. He glared darkly, despite helping, he wasn’t gonna be there forever to help these two. AT least he wasn’t like the recent people he had met, these two didn’t talk a lot. Unfortunately, when they did, it was usually quite annoying.

He took another look at the other boy, the light haired young man by the name of Pann. Sharp, rounded horn stooped high on his head. Seeing from before, the boy was definitely able to hold his own with the mutation. His partner was tough as well, he still wasn’t quite sure who’d fit better as an opponent.

The boys had set off once again, this time heading towards the building at the center of the field. Madoka once again didn’t follow immediately, instead, took the time to survey the ex-battlefield. Many goons of all shapes and sizes laid about, some unconscious some even un damaged. The masked boy walked to one of the un-injured goons, stepping up close to him, then grappling his shirt at the chest, pulling him close to his face. His voice was dark and cold, bloody red eyes shone from beneath his mask as he spoke.

“Round up everyone left and report here.” he pointed near the old flagpole towards the outside of the factory. A torn, beaten flag of an unknown source hung from its ropes, easily being revealed by the moonlight. “Before I kill you all.” he demanded, tossing the emotionally devastated man to the side, watching as he gathered his few conscious allies to aid in dragging their harmed brethren to the flags base. Madoka walked towards the two fighters he had just faced, grabbing both of them by the back of their tops and began dragging them in the same direction. He reached the flagpole rather quickly, quickly pulling down the rope and tying the two unconscious men to it’s base. A small group of the men had now gathered to the pole, Madoka eyeing them darkly.

“Get lost, before I tie you up too.” he spat, the men scattering like ants to the woods. He was sure the cops would arrive soon, and seeing those men in the woods might slow them down just for a second to deal with what hid inside.

He turned around as the group ran, heading back up to wear the boys had went in. Taking the time to gather all the men up like so definitely left him behind a bit. Not only this, he once again purposely slowed his path, letting the boys catch what was inside first. The less people he had to deal with the better, maybe one of them would end up unable to fight or at least slow down their opponent, if there was one inside there.

"Shit!" Rainer jumped to the side, narrowly dodging a giant spear. After sending that mass of cards slamming into Rainer, chaos ensued as he started moving around, more and more cards seemingly appearing from nowhere. Each card wasn't any harder than a standard playing card, but what the cards lacked in individual strength, they more than made up for in number. At this point in time, the man had formed two weapons, formed from tightly compressed cards. Both were small blades, which he used whilst dashing around Rainer and Pann. One of the biggest problems, was not the cards themselves, but that the man was too damn fast, possibly not quite as fast as the masked person when they were fighting that group, but combined with the sea of cards (which snaked around, crashing into them here and there), he was incredibly hard to handle. Rainer could only stay put, smoke surrounding him, blocking the attacks.

Pann was fairing slightly better in actually counter attacking, but that wasn't enough and this was becoming a battle of attrition and focus. Once again, the snaking mass of cards coiled up and shot out a spear, which Pann closely avoided and grabbed onto, before it collapsed under his grip and reformed elsewhere. Unable to reach their target, their only option was to slowly destroy the individual cards. Looking around, Rainer noticed a blow torch leaning against one of the walls, he ran towards it, but was quickly blocked by the man, "Not so fast", he said as he gathered cards together, now wielding a large hammer. Lifting it up, he slammed down on Rainer, who sent out a smoke blast and jumped back. The two attacks collided and cancelled out, but the man dropped the hammer and dashed towards Rainer, but was suddenly interrupted as Pann charged in with a headbutt. For once, they hit him, and Rainer instantly followed up with another smoke blast. Sadly, he had recovered quickly from the headbutt and only barely got hit by the blast. Unfortunately, now that Rainer was exhausted and running out of smoke, he could no longer block him so easily.

The man jumped back and the cards clumped together into various groups, forming panels of smoke which floated in the air. He leaped up, jumping onto one of them, and then started dashing around, the panels moving around in intricate ways as he navigated them, dashing around the room, going from one panel to another. This mesmerising scene of flowing card panels was distracting and would suddenly allow him to dash at either Rainer or Pann, hitting them and then dashing away instantly. Rainer and Pann stood there helpless in the centre of the room, herded into one spot as they were slowly whittled down, trying their best to figure out a pattern and predict his movements.

Finally Madoka reached the main doors of the building. Well, where the doors used to be, it looked as if someone had simply slammed through and broke them. He took a gaze back again, the sirens getting closer and closer. He had to finish this up quickly.

He took his first step into the old abandoned factory. The air within the place was hot and very dry, even below his mask he could feel his skin across his face rattle a bit. The people taking care of this place weren’t doing a very good job, maintenance mustn't of been a priority. Lacing both feet into the place, he caught eye of the battle once again, starting in front of him. He watched from the sidelines, each boy giving it their all against the mysterious male.

“Hmm?” His eye’s flashed green from red, now surveying the area deeply along with the residents. He first locked eyes with the new fighter, a man manipulating some sort of playing cards. His eyes continued to glow, a strong sense of awareness entering his mind.

“The Gilded Tarot huh?” He said to himself, his hidden quirk Scanner was now activated, being used to see exactly what he’d be dealing with. “Looks like he can freely control cards, not an ability I’ve dealt with before." He shot his pupils back at the other two boys, his eye’s continuing to flash green brightly. “Mhm, smoke and a horn mutation, just as expected.” His eye’s flashed back to a deep red, deactivating the ability.

Taking a short breath, he walked slowly towards the skirmish. At the rate visualized by the masked boy, it wouldn’t be long till the boys would fall if the same pace was up kept up. Their new opponent stopped mid attempt on the other two, starring in the direction of Madoka now. His voice was very foul, sly even. His stature and movements reminded him of a snake.

“Did you come to join our game?” he laughed a bit, his laugh just as creepy as he was. His face resembled a clown from circus, and not one of the clowns you’d see at a birthday party. More like a clown from a scary movie or horror story. A constant loop of carnival music repeated itself in the room, but he took no notice of the silly scare. It was obvious this guy had too much time on his hands, and not enough challengers.

Immediately, the man made his first attack, sending a line of cards flying in the direction of the teenager. He easily jumped to his left, avoiding the line and made a direct path towards the man. He lunged forward, hoping to strike him across the head. Unfortunately, he was met with another cloud of cards, appearing right in front of his fist. He landed again, the next wave already attacking. Moving left and right, madoka did his best to avoid the frenzy of thick paper. As he hopped and dodged, his eyes focused on all things around him, trying to come up with a plan. He jumped again, this time a card grazing his ankles, leaving a small cut from it’s enhanced sharpened edge.

“Damnit…” he mumbled, mid air again. “ I can’t keep dodging and expect to hit him with all of these cards everywhere..” He looked up, the moonlight shining down onto the lone throne in the center where he once resided. “Moonlight..” he repeated, avoiding yet another bundle of cards. He looked up. A single glass window remained at the top of the building, letting the light shine down on the throne. It was obviously put there for it’s dramatic affect, something this guy cared for, hence the wild music and make-up. He swiftly made a jagged path towards the throne, his opponent immediately following with another round of attacks.

“Haha! You’re not calling it quits yet, are you?” he spat sly-fully, his next attack nearby. Quickly, Madoka leaped off of the throne, avoiding most of the next barraged. The card followed, all streaming skyward to wear he flew. Without anywhere to go, he crossed his arms across his face, a series of the cards swiping against his shoulders and legs, leaving small cuts and scrapes. The rest of the cards continued skyward, striking the clear glass, brandishing a new hold in the man’s “palace”. The clown saw his next opportunity, making his way to Madoka now. The cards he had left soon formed into a large broadsword in his hands, a sharp makeshift weapon of his choice. He urged forward, hoping to strike him down as he fell.

Though, this was all apart of the plan.

Madoka swung his left arm skyward, releasing a small dust field of his quirks powder into the sky through the window. Above them, a small but heavy dark cloud formed, getting larger each second. Suddenly, the cloud had given in, releasing a abnormally amount of rain all at once, in a concentrated area. The precipitation then instantly drenched both the clown man, and the rest of his cards. His decks soon scattered throughout the ground, now soggy and useless. The man’s paint too fell from his face, dripping down to the ground.

His once white face was now red with anger, yelling loudly as he tricks fell.

“You’ll pay for this!”

Madoka landed softly on the ground, knowing the man was nothing without his quirk. If the boys were able to finish him off, maybe they’d win the battle.

“Did you come to join our game?”

Rainer let out a sigh of relief. The masked guy had appeared once again in the nick of time, changing the tides in their favour. The two dashed around the building's interior, like a twisted dance in the moonlight, flurries of cards coming from all angles. Rainer wanted to do something, but they were out of his range and he was exhausted as is. Pann was also fatigued, he who had to defend himself with only his body, was tired and bruised, tiny cuts littering his arms.

“Haha!" The clown laughed maniacally, sending a barrage of cards flying at the masked man, who jumped up, the cards following. This time they landed, quite a few cards hitting him, the rest flying up behind him. What Rainer didn't notice was that this was intentional, and was about to move in to help, but suddenly the area got a bit darker, following which was.. rain! Out of nowhere it started to rain down, through the windows into the building in vast amounts. This was likely related to his quirk, which caused Rainer and Pann to feel even more shock; a power to cause storms and shift tides, what a quirk that was.

“You’ll pay for this!”

Snapping back to the situation, the man's cards were soggy and now just clumps of paper on the floor, the clown man unable to use them. crack Pann walked forwards, cracking his knuckles, ready to let out all his frustration of being toyed with by this bastard and his speed, Rainer walked forward too, giving the masked man a glance. It was now that he would truly find out this man's intentions. If he was here to take the boss for himself, there was little Rainer could do to stop him with his speed and Rainer's lack of smoke, especially with the rain.

"You're gonna get it this time, you old bast-" before Pann could continue, sirens sounded out, and some voices could be heard from some distance away. Looking at each other, Pann and Rainer rushed over. The clown, who was focused on the masked person in his anger, only just turned around as Pann flying knee'd him in the jaw. Picking him up, Rainer and Pann walked out the back-door, Rainer stopping and giving the masked person one last meaningful look. After all of that, he still didn't know his true motives and intentions, and wasn't likely going too, he would possibly never know his true name or face, but he could only shrug his shoulders and leave with Pann. Thinking about the reward for capturing this guy was enough to make him happy once again. Taking a long round-about path in the forest, they made their way back to the main roads, hearing loud noises back in distance.

----

"Job well done" An old plump man sat at a diner table, on either side of him were two burly bodyguards. Sitting across from him were two other men, one of which was in the process of eating a hot-dog. These men were Rainer and Pann. The man slid a bag over to Rainer, who checked inside, counting to make sure he was getting paid the correct amount. They got up, shaking his hand and turning to leave, "I hope to do business with you folks again" he said as they exited the diner.

"What's the plan now?" Pann asked, walking down the street with a hot-dog in hand. Rainer exhaled some smoke and looked up to the sky, when suddenly a man who sat in a street booth yelled over "Hey you! 5 dollars and I tell your future!", spreading 10 cards on a table, as he looked up at the pair.

Rainer stopped, walking over to the man and punching a hole in his table, sending the cards flying away, before dropping some cash in front of him and continuing to walked with Pann "I'm sick of cards. Let's get out of this town and get some rest."

“Hmph.” Madoka once again simply stopped fighting, letting the boys take the rest of the deal. He didn’t even bother watching the bout, instead, launched a single wired shuriken hidden beneath his cloak skyward towards the hole in the ceiling. The projectile firmly wrapped itself around the corner frame on the once window. With a single, quick jerk testing its stability, Madoka immediately began climbing the makeshift rope to the top.

Once at the top, he’d pull himself over the space, avoiding the broken pieces of glass on the sides. After returning his tool, he walked towards the edge of the building, staring down to where he had first entered. The police were now here, already heading in the direction of the pair that were tied up. Behind them was a group of the thugs from earlier. They were definitely missing some, but it’d be near impossible to catch all of the evil-doers. A medic followed them , placing some of the men on stretchers. From the looks of it, none of the guys had died. This surprised him, the two he followed earlier had such harsh tactics, not a single fatality kinda surprised him.

Beneath him, he heard a loud crash and bang. A single thud hit the ground, the boys must have won. He didn’t bother looking back towards them, or watching them leave. He’d probably never see them again, a one time encounter. He’d doubt the boys would try for U.A., so he highly doubted he’d see them there. He may had missed the exams...but there was still hope he’d make it. He glanced down at his palm, clenching it then staring back at the moon.

“Why am I here right now….” he asked the moon, not expecting an answer.

“Hey, who’s that?” an officer spoke below, pointing in the direction of Madoka. He stood firmly at the top, the wind picking up now, his cloak dancing in the wind. He glared down at the crowd of people, all looking carefully up at him. His red eyes still continued to glow with the moon's bright force acting upon them.

Afterward, he turned, taking off at a simple sprint towards the edge. Gracefully, he leaped from the rooftop, landing softly atop a tree’s high branch nearby. From there, he scaled downwards, heading in the opposite direction of the police and medics, he didn’t want to be around to be praised or sought after. Moments later, he disappeared into the brush, leaving no trace of his presence behind.

Earnings:

  • Rainer - 18 EXP, $1100 cash

    Comments:
This was a crazy thread, honestly. You got Rainer being paranoid, again(what's with this boy and his paranoia? Is it the weed?), Pann just like "What?", and Sas...Madoka tapping into his inner-Shinobi. Honestly, though, this was a cool thread, with some heated moments. Having to take on an entire gang is never easy, but you two(three), manage to do so and even got your target. Madoka is slowly building more and more to his conviction on where he stands on the spectrum of hero/villain, though walking around with a mask is still weird, ijs.
