| Name: Aya Ohno Age: 18 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Japanese Affiliation:Other Renown:0 Fame:0 Infamy:0 Bounty:0

The Character
Height:6'5" Weight:185lbs Hair: Straight and somewhat shaggy hair, a chestnut brown in color, falls further down on the right than the left. The hair's thin and generally left to grow on its own, only straightened by a stone iron. Wire-thin antennae prop upwards in an arc. Aya does not dye her hair. Eyes: Circular red irises move softly though peer with intensity. Lashes are dolled up with a layer of squid ink (regular eyeliner is a pain to the upper eye). Unlike most people, Aya has two sets of eyes - a second one right above her first pair. This compound eye can see a small amount above and around Aya, serving as a "calibration eye" of sorts.

General Appearance: Aya appears surprisingly humanoid for her quirk. Her head is quite bee-like in shape, with a mantis-like head shape that protrudes forwards. A foot-long neck cranes around, swiveling and rotating up to a hundred eighty degrees around. Wiry antennae poke about for objects to smell, though frequently pop back into her hair. A short mouth, lips thin and undecorated, generally rests at a neutral, calm expression. She has no discernible nose, despite the protrusion; this is where she stores her mandibles for future use. Despite her mantis-like appearance, she still has bones beneath the "exoskeleton," though it chips rather easily.
Aya's body is segmented into two parts below the head, though is generally human-like. The "thorax" and "abdomen" of her body contain bones. and can pivot about 90 degrees from the back of her body in either direction. The lower thorax contains everything that'd be above her abs, including a pair of pear-shaped wings. A second pair rests on the back of her abdomen, this pair much larger and befitting of flight. Long legs stride like frogs', segmented like armor; arms have a similar segmentation. Feet and hands appear surprisingly normal, save for a retracting scythe and "hooks" on each arm. These scythes are generally kept clean and away from combat, usually reserved for physical feats. Aya herself is quite lean as the result of her care.
| Clothing: Aya's clothing is pretty flairless, though due to her body structure it often appears quite tight. Aside from robes she dons long pants and button-up shirts, only occasionally sporting a sailor's blouse. Her abdomen remains relatively constant, though she frequently opts not to apply too much work and clothes the body part as necessary. In events where she absolutely must look as human as possible, she folds her thorax and wears a long dress; whatever befits the occasion.
During funerals, Aya dons a spotted black kimono, with a white sash, or the opposite color scheme depending on the time of day. She does not generally like being seen during times of mourning.
| Personality: Aya is what you'd consider a calm and collected girl. Her graceful countenance is maintained whether delivering tea, faced with a test, or weighed down by ceramic bowls of water. Often, she blinks to confirm something had just been said. She speaks in a didactic prose or rhyme, as she finds wordplay helps bring people to whatever she has to speak. A fair, balanced tone of voice contrasts what can be controlling movements. Just as much as she enjoys learning, Aya likes to teach, though often finds herself somewhat dictatorial as a result of failing to find her boundaries. It comes as no surprise, then, that Aya can prove rather repressive herself. Initially it will come as quickly switching topics and the like but after long periods of time, one can tell Aya doesn't like to talk about herself.
Something of a country woman, Aya is a worker with a worker's mindset, who refuses to give up on problems of ideology, physical labor, or skill. The country-goer gets this attitude from her parents, who through tough times have brought up her personality. Her relationship with her family is relatively positive! She does not try to emphasize her quirk much, and in fact feels somewhat burdened by her sporadic mutation. At the same time, she is grateful for their guidance during the rough times ahead. Her relationship with family is much more than can be said for foreigners, whom Aya does not like. Some pin xenophobia, which is partially the case. At the same time, she just can't fathom people leaving their home country to profiteer in Japan. There's not a lot of room. That being said, she does not actively attempt to attack non-native Japanese, unless she's asked to conform to their standard. She tries suppressing her country status through this prose, though it occasionally comes through her tongue.
She secretly enjoys rap music, despite understanding limited English, and you might catch her attempting to copy the lyrics.
Beneath her flowery sheer, her dialogue can prove condescending and possibly even callous. Her faith in others is relatively low, as it takes a great deal of time to gain Aya's trust. No matter her teachings, she despises being let down, whether it's from herself or her peers. However, with this lack of faith comes a special level of care that goes into her actions. It is this and her resourcefulness that guided Aya through an arduous few years in foreign soil. Aya tries not to hold grudges over people, although she struggles hard to trust an individual who has attempted to, or has, wronged her in the past.
Aya's beliefs are derived mostly from her own interpretation of Buddhist doctrine. They are religious in their practice, with core tenets never broken at a resting state. That being said, she is nowhere near mastery. If she can't figure out what's to be done despite her efforts, after some time, she starts to steam. Attitude becomes more and more dismissive as she accumulates anger. She attempts to use this anger to direct her decisions to completion, though can find herself taking the wrong tangent before long. Seemingly quiet, though harsh fits are infrequent as her curses - both of which, at her worst, Aya is not above.
Though curious, she abstains from sexual ordeals with others, largely because she does not know if her quirk would interfere with the process. The last thing Aya would want herself to be known as is a head-eater.

History:
History: Aya Ohno, daughter to religious mantidaes Tokutomi and Raika Medu, preceded three other mantis-like children. Taking to the hills of Okura, Japan, Aya grew up a quaint yet smiling town. Fetching water from the well was not a task above Aya nor the village-children. She enrolled at a local school, where she learned about general studies and discerned some more information about her quirk. She did not show much interest in heroism, and very early on put heavy emphasis on maths, on English and. Aya whe wanted, "the fucking A student seat" (which she was promptly beat with a belt for saying aloud.) However they would nurture her desire to work with these strange concepts, believing Aya could add to the Ohno family name, and ultimately provide a valuable service to the community. But for her early years, she still had to balance this, and already she dealt with a school-work conflict. She had potatoes and yams to tend to, after all.
As time passed, Aya received gifts from her parents for her hard work: often in the form of small toys. She took these devices apart and recombined them for her own benefit. She even made herself a small combine from a toy truck, a feat her brother scorned her for. Later, she earned a large pink phone for her 14th birthday, and from then Aya knew she had to keep going with her study. Not one to stop toying around, Aya (to a brief extent) reconfigured her phone, working with the internet to spend three months (and counting) automatically removing ads from programs she used. Her work did not stop at personal inconveniences as it earned her a strong position as a. She even studied through the death of her late mother Raika. It was in these middle years, she learned to construct circuit-boards, manipulate her phone, build devices. She avoided notoriety for the most part growing up, and the comments she recieved about her quirk were mostly of reverence. Negative feedback bounced off of Aya.
She preferred literature, however, just because paper was that much more satisfying to sift through. Aya moved through a library to level her literary skill. Her dedication earned her very strong scores throughout high school, though that could not earn her friendships. She mostly communicated through phone and even this could be spotty, as she may have found herself doing something else.
Aya sometimes refers to a "foreign incident," which had only been slightly woven for story form. She meant to take a tour with her class around Shenyang, China to take notes on newly-installed electrical facilities. Unfortunately, due to her older cell phone plan, she did not get the notification that her bus changed. This and a tonal mispronounciation led Aya to take a local bus to a restaurant, which is where Aya knew: she messed up. She navigated to a consulate, where the staff offered to contact Aya's parents until they could send a return trip. This, to the current consulate owner, translated to a money laundering plot where he personally thrifted. Unfortunately the staff member evaded formal punishment through his personal connections, though the Ohno family made virtually all of their stolen funds back. While a small crime, the mantidae did not forgive - and placed her blame widely.
Nonetheless, Aya did not leave home after then. Through meditation her focus narrowed inwards, calming her mental state though isolating herself from othrs. Her perception and remained sharp, though many notice that Aya wasn't all there. Friendships dissolved as Aya vanished into the world of machine development, and despite her disposition, aims for little else.

Combat, Stats & Earnings:
Combat:Oh no, Aya isn't much of a combatant.
If she absolutely needs to, however, she will draw a gun and blast her opponents in the face. For personal reasons, Ohno does not use her scythes to maim or murder. If Aya needs to rely on her quirk to draw blood*, she does not see much of a victory. She has no qualms, however, generating gusts and force to push her enemies away.
