The first hit was a success, and apparently hard enough to make Riki rethink his actions for a moment. The heat was getting a bit much for the youth, if he was being honest, not having expected to be thrown into a battle of this intensity so soon. His efforts also felt twice as hard having to keep his demonic visage at bay, making it difficult to focus as he felt the beginnings of a headache form from the constantly bright light and his split mind. Still, Jackson pressed on, aiming to land his secondary blow with as much force as he could muster. Unfortunately, Riki was a more resilient and resourceful foe than he'd expected, taking the force of the blow and letting it launch him across the campsite, laughing all the way as he cartwheeled and let his the flames on his arms dim into nothingness. Jackson himself, however, wasn't given much of a respite. Within moments, Riki's head was engulfed in flames and he started charging right at the boy with a battle cry. His vision was shifting, Jackson seeing both the campsite and an endless expanse of dark before him simultaneously. The latter setting was far too ingrained in his mind for the boy to ever forget. It was where he went, where he fought for control, where his demon half lived. He was losing control, and his smokey doppelganger was there and waiting, a giant grin on his form as he cackled, taking up the same stance as Riki. The flaming man and his demon half started to become one in the same, each crouching low and charging straight ahead at him, his darker half chortling as he said, "Yes! Yes! YES! I get play time twice in one day!" "No..." Jackson croaked out, feeling his transformation leave him as his knees started to buckle in fear, only imagining what could happen in his dazed state. he was too tired, too weak to fight back this time. The demonic creature didn't respond at first as he and Riki charged the youth. He was far too elated, the demon's face elongating and losing its pupils as a laugh that reached the very bowels of the underworld rang out in his ears. "I don't feel the pain like you do kiddo, remember that! So when I'm done slicing and dicing here, I'll have more than enough juice to head back! When I'm there, the ice-girl's gettin chopped up first! Then the sugar kid, then that ghost girl you like so much! All of 'em dead!" A small flare came from the very pit of Jackson's stomach. It wasn't his regular anger, it was something far deeper. His doppelganger seemed to notice nothing, however, as it seemed to make time stretch on out of sheer enjoyment. "Everyone, everything, this whole wide world, I'm gonna tear it down to rubble! And only when your precious parents are dead at my feet, and I've feasted on their blood, will you get a minute back in this body! Oh Jackie-Boy! We're gonna have so much fun!" As a final taunt, the image of his doppelganger shifted into that of Sugar Rampage, Riki barely visible under the villain's form. "BURN IN HELL!" Shoving his hands out, the young teen unleashed a torrent of Hellfire out of instinct, one bigger than he'd ever managed before, screaming all the way. As he screamed, his sole normal eye slowly shifted in color to match his demonic eye, black sclera reflecting the dark flames. For a brief second, Jackson saw fear flick across his doppelganger's face before it was covered in fire, the dark dimension vanishing as his demonic copy retreated into its smokey form without a word, Riki now right in front of him and having barreled right through his flames. Feeling like he'd just lost a fight with a semi-truck, Jackson was thrown back into a tree, his back cracking his front suffered burns. Barely conscious from his last attack, the fight and a day's running, all Jackson managed to get out was, "...It burns evil..." before he lapsed into unconsciousness, no nightmares there to greet him this time. As much of a meanie Riki was, he was trying to make the boys flame ignite. For some, that included strong insults at their pride or skill-level. For some it was constant failure. And for Jackson... well, that was what Riki was trying to find out. For himself, the greatest time of need to ignite his flame and try something new, when he was cornered. And now with him charging at the boy head on, Jackson would have no other way to stop it except retaliating somehow! ...Though he wasn`t expecting what happened. His flaming head calmed down just a bit, as the boys stomach flared up just a tiny bit. It was coming. He could see the boys face twist in anger. Ooh, it was coming! "BURN IN HELL!!" "WITH PLEASURE!!!" He had done it! The boy was mad and flaring, and with the trust of his hand, had send this flaming inferno towards him! He would face it head on, Handle the burns like a champ, and cook the little guy into a proper flaming jugger...! ...It did nothing. It didn`t burn at all. Even the surrounding grass and trees felt almost untouched by it. Riki continued his flaming charge, headbutting Jackson into a nearby tree, with a look of confusion and disappointment. "You wussy little... You still holding back...?" He muttered before hearing the boy wince out some last words before falling down unconscious. Riki cringed in disbelief. Burns down evil? Bah! Sounded like a pitiful excuse for a burnt beef. What does this kid think he is? He literally let an asshole like himself get away with attacking him! What if the villain was someone doing it for a just cause! There were literally so many excuses! Heck, He had been kicked out of U.A for being too reckless and burning his friends in the progress! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BURNED! Riki facepalmed. Man, he still had not let go, huh? Fricking kid... Of course, that might just mean the kid didn`t think he was evil enough to deserve burning... Riki sighed, and walked over to Jackson. "Looks like you are gonna stay with me a little bit longer kiddo... Can`t leave a burnt kid alone." He lifted him up over his shoulder and carried him inside the dark cottage. ______________________________________________________ Jackson would wake up in a warm bed with propably the most fiery bedsheets he had ever imagined. It looked almost like an all warmed up grill by itself, though of course, it was still a normal bed in every other way. There were lots of pictures of different kinds of people on the wall, most enjoying different kinds of meals, and some including Riki himself. If he woke up by himself, He would notice the burn mark left by the fiery attack having been bandaged up. Jackson could also hear the sound of something sizzling in the other room. a smell of bacon drifted in the air. The owner of the cottage was in the kitchen preparing something. "Guess it won`t hurt him if I make these EXTRA crispy!" Yup, he was making breakfast... And soon enough, the guy barged into the bedroom, with a plate full of fried chicken wrapped in bacon, and seemingly dipped in some kind of sauce. "MORNIIIING LITTLE FELLER! TIME FOR BREAKFAST SPECIAL!" If he wasn`t awake before, now he most definitely was. He put the plate on the small table next to his bed, as he pulled up chair, and sat down, grabbing one of the chickens, and biting into it furiously. "I call this the mild volcano special! Tons of curry and chili, and a couple of drops of tabasco. Should put some energy back into your body." |

"You got lucky." The voice was there, ever-present, all encompassing and yet invisible as well. Jackson felt as if he were floating in a void of reality, just like so many times before. But something was different this time. His demonic double sounded ever so slightly fainter, weaker one might guess. There were even blots of grey in the void if the young teen looked closely enough. "You finally figured out what that damned fire can do. But don't think I'll be an easy target next time." Jackson's doppelganger formed in front of him, smokey as always, now with both eyes black and red. The host could already guess what that meant for his own left eye. "I'll bide my time, get back to full strength... and when you least expect it, everything will come crashing down." Despite feeling like more of a ghost himself and barely cognizant of how to control this form, Jackson managed to curl his fists, staring down his dark visage as he stated, "Good luck with that, cause I'll be ready for you, like always." _______________________________________________________ Warm light flooded Jackson's eyes as his eyelids slowly fluttered open. The walls were wooden and he was covered in a blanket seemingly made from a pressed-out grill mid-barbeque. The wooden wall was decorated with some pictures, a few of which seemed to contain a younger version of Riki and a few other kids. The boy in them looked happy, a more genuine sort of jolliness than the over exaggerated hype the flame-user he fought gave off. What had happened to that smile? A yell that seemed to come from only the happiest circle of yell pierced Jackson's ears, making the boy sit up in fright, fully awake and fully aware of his pained mid-section. Looking down, he found that his abdominal section and lower ribs were covered in gauze and were tender to the touch, making him once as he poked them. Riki really had gotten him good. The tall woodsman then slapped down some bacon-wrapped chicken, explaining the various toppings he'd added to the breakfast meal before grabbing a leg for himself. The thought of consuming something with visible dollops of curry, chili and tabasco at who knew what hour in the morning made him fear for his intestines, but still a day's worth of running and night of healing left him not one to argue. With a decently quiet "Thanks..." Jackson grabbed himself a piece. The first few bites were a bit hard to get down, but afterwards they weren't as bad. A verbal "Mmm" sound escaped his lips as he went in for another few pieces before wiping his mouth with his bare wrist, leaning back on the bed arms behind his head before he exclaimed, "Not bad, you ever think of becomin' a cook?" Riki might have taken notice of this moment for, beyond this being a more straight joke with no malice behind it, it was also the first time Jackson had smiled since he'd gotten there. The smile faded, however, as the boy lowered his right hand to his face, as if searching for something within the black palm. "It burns evil. That stupid dark copy in my head I told you about..." Jackson started to explain, almost a if attempting to remind himself he'd really found a way to fight back. "I think he sorta stood where you were and tried to take control again. I lashed out, and it looked like it sorta wounded him. I'm betting this thing... well hopefully it works like this on all bad guys. But I doubt you have any of those lying around for me to test." Jackson gave a cheeky smile towards the taller man, figuring he act a bit more hospitable towards the man who'd clothed and fed him... even if he was a bit on the violent side. The smile, however, did turn slightly more genuine as he looked down somewhat and stated, "Thanks though... for real. If it weren't for you, I might be wallowing in some cave, talking myself out of murder for who knows how long. You should really apply to be a UA teacher, honestly. You'd make classes way more interesting than those goody-two-sh-Ugh!" The boy gasped in pain as his side seemed to flare for a moment. Jackson grabbed his right ribs lightly as he chuckled somewhat, giving another cheeky grin as he pointed out, "If you do though... go easy on the rough housing. I'm considering sending you a hospital bill myself, to be honest." |

Riki looked pretty intensely at jackson taking a piece of the meal he had prepared for him. Whether this was him feeling a bit guilty and hoping the meal would sort of be a good apology for burning him up, or just him readying to fire an insult back if he didn`t like it, was a mystery. However the "Mmm" sound Jackson emitted was followed by Riki loudly saying the same thing while Waving his head in a strong motion. "Heh, dormant volcano at start, and eventually it bursts. Its glorious, and just for my tastes, hehe!" Hearing Jackson even suggesting him to become a cook made him shrug. "I already tried it once. Few people have the guts to handle the good stuff, and medium makes me feel down for not delivering my best!" This guy clearly liked his stuff a bit overspiced. Seeing the boy smiling did grow the smile Riki emitted a tiny bit more. It was a clear change from the "Hippie" he had seen in the woods. ...However, when he started trying to explain his quirk a bit better (last time he was a bit occupied by a propable concussion), Rikis head clearly turned a bit to its side. Dark copy? Shadows? Whatever he was talking about still felt like absolute mumbo jumbo to him. "Yup, no one except maybe me. But atleast you know how it works now." Guess the duo had different standards of what counted as evil? Atleast the boy seemed to get a bit of a lesson in self-improvement. And if he was gonna fight some villains, he did still have this whole black arm thing to help him. He should be fine. "Just don`t start crying out nos in the middle of of it like a wuss. Makes you seem weak." Despite some of the things he had said, Riki was usually an energetic and an eccentric person, which showed up with his flames turning bright red at the big thanks Jackson gave him. however, when Jackson outright suggested for him to become an U.A teacher, Rikis mood suddenly crashed down, as he became weirdly silent for a moment, glancing at some of the pictures, while rubbing his face. "Heh, clearly heroism is a better job for you than a job counselor." He flashed a pretty fake smile like straight from a commercial, as he poked Jacksons forehead forcefully. "And honestly, if one burn is gonna make you outright send some billbears after me, I think even the teachers at U.A would call you a wuss. Villains will laugh at you if you try something like that! If those dang teachers can`t even teach you that, then...!" Riki coughed for a moment. "Anyways, after you`ve eaten your meal, you can leave. I ain`t stopping ya." He walked through the door, only to turn around towards Jackson again. "Honestly, You are propably gonna make a great one. I could say couple of names that used to be exactly like you..." Riki softened up for a moment. "Only thing you gotta grow, is tough skin. If you truly have a thing inside you other than tears, then you need some proper lockup mechanism." He was leaning against the doorframe. Was he waiting for opinions? |

Jackson continued to munch down on the food as Riki described the meal the boy was currently consuming, and while he'd admit some of the spice kicked in later, overall he'd still had worse. He'd made the mistake during his early days of Tokyo in trying out some sushi with a fairly great deal of wasabi. After that day, his taste buds definitely felt like they could handle just about anything. Still though. "I can, um, see why it's an acquired taste," Jackson said in between two coughs, having bitten down on an abnormally large piece of chili that made his eyes water for a few seconds. Riki did certainly seem to be proud of the chef comment though, wondering what else the man could be doing to make ends meat if not that. With a house far from the city and in the woods, the only things left really were logging or hunting, and neither of those seemed to suit the man. His violent senses and meaty odor (courtesy of his diet it seems) would alert any animal from miles away, and he'd probably whittle down any tree within his grasp into a twig if he got into it. Riki himself seemed confused when Jackson gave his thoughts on how his power worked, but went along with it regardless, pleased that he'd been able to help out the boy some. Still, Jackson was very uncertain over what the true extent of this power was, and he truly hoped it could tackle more than just his evil. If it could harm all forms and leave the general populace and other heroes, as well as public property, unharmed, he had a sure fire method of attack. Snapped out of these thoughts when the woodsman brought up his crying, the young teen looked away slightly, not happy with letting himself give way in front of a stranger. "It was... an eventful day, alright. I don't make a hobby out of it." The teasing notion ended, however, when Riki's mood was brought down when the bed-ridden teen mentioned becoming a teacher at UA. The man's flames died down a fair bit as he looked at the pictures on the wall, stating he'd make a better hero than a job counselor. About to take the claim as an insult and retort, Jackson observed the man's face more deeply. Clearly, the comment had cut deeper than he could have guessed, so perhaps career choices and UA in general were best to be left out of the vocabulary for the moment. Poking the teen's head, Riki started teasing him again about his griping, pushing what was meant to be a joke from the shorter of the two into a full on mock fest. Instead of retorting, however, Jackson lightly tapped the man's finger away, knowing by now the blowhard was simply just letting off some steam, or even just getting wrapped up in his own world. Jackson himself couldn't say he'd never done the latter. Instead, he simply flashed a small grin at all the comments. Then came the offer to leave, at last. Riki had fed him, clothed him, bedded and healed him. To top it off, he even seemed to have faith in the boy's career, something Jackson himself held in very small amounts. Wanting to respond, but first needing to know if he could so much as actually leave, Jackson pulled the covers off of him and winced once again as he stood. His ribs were hurt, maybe a little bruised, but he could make it back to town if he kept his quirk-usage low. Well, if he could figure out the direction. "Thank you, Riki... for everything," the young teen stated with as much sincerity as he could muster. "Can't think of a way to really make it up to you... except maybe coming back one day and giving you the fight you really deserve. I figure that's about the best gift I can offer. Probably the only one you'd accept." "As for lock-ups..." Jackson pondered, scratching the back of his head, choosing to forego another comment on his outburst the previous night. "Besides the fire, this thing basically does whatever it wants, and it mostly sticks inside my head. But it's only a fight I've lost once or twice. I think after last night... well, I just might win all of the rest." Daylight was burning, and he'd been missing for long enough. He needed to get back to UA, and start figuring himself out again, as well as cleaning out his room. Maybe he'd look for a spot in the woods all his own, give him time and space to think. Walking past his host with the slightest of hobbles, Jackson considered, for the smallest of moments, giving the man a hug as some proper thanks. But knowing that would probably lead to him getting called a hippie and being thrown through a window, the boy offered a simple fist bump as he moved past Riki and towards the door. "I'll be back soon, promise!" Jackson yelled from the doorway, a silhouette thanks to the early morning sunlight. "Be sure not to kill anyone till then, okay? I don't wanna be charged as an accomplice in anything!" With that, the boy was off into the world. He stood a little taller, smiled a bit wider, and swore a lot more when in private, because his ribs had bruised worse than he'd thought. He'd get Riki back for that. [Jackson exits thread] |

Jackson hobbled himself back up, as Riki watched. He was clearly a bit shaken up still. "Remember kid, can`t grow stronger muscles without ripping the old ones sometime." Had he been too rough on the kid? Well, he himself didn`t seem to mind a small roughhousing. However, what he wasn`t expecting was the boy to immediately thank him. For what exactly? Beating some common sense into him? And now he was even offering to come back and beat him up later. Riki just laughed out loud at the suggestion. "Heh, I will be ready when your burns have healed up. Don`t hold back on me again though!" Assuming your target is weaker than you is a trap you can only set for yourself... Riki chuckled at this weirdly sagely sounding advice that had come in his head. And when it came to things in someones head, Jackson seemed to be sure about keeping whatever imaginary thing he had inside his head now. With a small fist bump, which riki answered in a mildly excited fashion, the boy seemed to be leaving, as Riki wiped sweat off of his forehead. Kids ain`t exactly easy to take care off... When Jacksons final words made his hair flare up again. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!?" He shouted angrily, as the boy seemed to slowly hobble away. Riki sighed, and fell into his cozy sofa. He had to sleep on it, since Jackson had taken the only bedroom in the house. He looked at the roof, and seemingly wondered, what the heck the kid was about. Would he really come back? "Suicidal kids, huh? Times haven`t changed one bit..." He shrugged. "Guess when you don`t learn, you can try tutoring someone else... right teach? Gonna beat you at the job you didn`t finish..." Riki chuckled, as soon, a simple flaming snore filled the house with light. Things were awfully quiet again... |
