What wasn’t there to love about a long weekend?

U.A. Academy declared that, this weekend would be three days long as opposed to the typical two, courtesy of some staff training that would be happening on Friday. There was no need for the students to attend classes, because the training would span the entirety of the day, and as such, the students were gifted with a very rare opportunity to have a truly relaxing long weekend. Under normal circumstances, Eve would use this time for extra studying and training, but on this particular occasion, she found herself to be booked up. Because this date was released when classes first started for the year, it had been on the calendars for quite a long time. As such, she found herself approached by Beru shortly after things started to take an upturn in her life. The hyperactive blonde asked if Eve would like to spend the entirety of the long weekend with her. The pair of them still had tickets to the zoo that they had yet to use (courtesy of a rather complicated summer, to say the least), and just in general, it would be nice to take some time and really relax. While the Delacroix girl wasn’t quite sure if being with such a hyperactive youth would be all that relaxing, she had still happily accepted with a gratified blush painted on her cheeks.

While previously adverse to developing friendships with those sharing a gender with her, due to her own fears borne out of nasty girls in her old boarding school, Eve had become a lot more flexible with this previously very strict rule of hers. For a long time, her best friend, Mia, had been an exception to this rule. Since Christmas last year, the plum-haired girl was learning more and more that Beru was just… far too sweet. And not in a bad way, either. It was amazingly endearing. As a natural introvert, Eve often found herself feeling rather exhausted after spending a measure of time with her hyperactive, extroverted friend, but it wasn’t a bad thing. They had originally planned to spend a lot of their summer vacation together, and then… well, Noir made their awful ultimatum, which had since been brought to light when everything came to a head at Mia’s apartment two weeks previously. With the silver-haired princess having a smooth recovery in hospital, and confirming that she would soon be back at school as well, Eve had been a lot more at ease. That, and after her reconciliation with her boyfriend, everything seemed to be coming together in her life, when it had all previously been snatched away from under her feet. Because she had been so intensely studying and working for such a long time now, to catch up on her missed classwork at the beginning of the year, she decided that it would be very nice indeed to deepen her friendship with the animalinguist that she called a close friend.

It was how she found herself stood on one of the many platforms of Tatooin’s train station, checking her watch at 8am on Friday morning and wondering where Beru was. They had agreed to meet at this time, so that they would both be sufficiently ready for the 8:15am train to the other side of Tatooin, so they could reach the Zoo situated there. It was right on the outskirts of the city, and as such, a train journey all its own had been dedicated to it. ‘I’d really rather not have to wait until 9:15 for the next train…’ She thought to herself as she returned both hands to being buried deeply in her warm chocolate brown duffel coat’s pockets. She had left it open, and a cosy grey knitted scarf was wound tightly around her neck. Beneath these external items of clothing, she wore a very beautiful dark brown dress, trimmed with bronze and light brown. Its patterns took the shape of violins stretching up and down its full length in perfect symmetry, and light brown ruffles trimmed the dress where it fell just above her knees in length. It was cinched with a dark brown velvet sash, and a matching collar added to the very dignified look that she typically opted for. Sleek lines and basic patterns were certainly more of her ‘thing’ when it came to fashion, but this dress had been far too cute to resist. If she remembered correctly, Mia had encouraged her to buy it. Its sleeves were silky and puffed out to her elbows, finished with a small cuff of brown velvet, although these were hidden underneath her winter coat. On her legs to fight against the cold, she wore a pair of her famous thigh-highs, only this pair were thermal and matched the bronze/ light brown colour of the accents on her elaborate dress. And to top off the whole autumnal ‘look’ she had perfected (with many an hour earlier scrutinising her appearance), she wore a pair of lace-up light brown boots as well. Even for casual affairs, such as visiting the Zoo with her friend, she always dressed impeccably and almost in an overly formal manner. Such was the way in which she conducted herself in most social situations outdoors. If she were at home in her dorm room, she would quite happily be wearing yoga pants and a sweater, but there were certain standards she had to uphold when she was in public! Even beyond that, it was a habit of hers to spend a lot of time on her appearance. Not on makeup and cosmetics per se, like her best friend Mia did, but more so on looking presentable, impeccable, and, for lack of better wording, perfect.

Her long purple locks were tugged in the direction that the wind was blowing across the platform, having been styled in a side ponytail which rested over her right shoulder for the day. A chocolate brown ribbon was tied beautifully in place to hold her hair up as well, further tying her outfit together. She instinctively checked the time on her watch once more. 8:06. Maybe it was Eve’s anxiousness to be early that had her on edge, but the time was slowly ticking down to 8:15, and Beru still wasn’t here. She shifted with her large backpack a little uneasily, adjusting the weight a little to sit better on her shoulders in the process. Alongside their trip to the Zoo, the two girls would be venturing to a small coastal town, where Beru’s parents lived. Because of the long weekend, they could travel further afield, and Beru had insisted on having a sleepover back at home. In all honesty, aside from the sleepovers that Eve shared with Mia, she had never really been to such a thing before. That, and she would be spending time with her friend’s family… it was all rather nerve-wracking for the girl who always over-thought everything. But, in the hyperactive blonde’s own words, ‘It would be super fun!’. Eve’s backpack was full of things for the weekend as well, because they would be hopping on a train straight after their visit to the Zoo and heading out for the coast.

A voice on the intercom announced that the next train to be arriving on this platform was bound for Tatooin Zoo, and that it would arrive in five minutes. ‘Where are you, Beru…?’ The plum-haired girl looked up and down the platform, holding the straps of her backpack anxiously.

"O-Oh no! No! No! We are not going to be late!!"

"Grrrru!"

"Kyyyaaa! Ah, s-sorry! E-Excuse me!"

Running through the crowd just outside the train station, Beru and her signature panda partner, Xiao Xiao, weaved their way through the hordes of people and just barely prevented several collisions with other patron of the station. Today was a very important date! As in, it was today and this whole weekend that she was going to spend some time with Eve! A long awaited trip to the zoo and even a sleepover at the Kemono household, it was the absolute best way for the two girls to finally have some good bonding time. Ever since the day they had planned it just when school had started, Beru had been wholing up a ton of excitement for her special trip with Eve. Of course it was so that the two had grown closer together since Christmas and Beru had more recently converted Eve into the realm of anime and manga, but the pair hadn't really benn given a chance for just the two of them to hang out together, just as best friends should!

So, how could it have been that she overslept?!

Not only that, but it hadn't been until she was already out the door and halfway across campus that she realized she had forgotten her train pass! And why did it have to be today of all days that Mr. And Mrs. Pigeon wanted to talk up a storm of the scandalous affairs of the downtown flock? And why was it that all fastest routes down to the station were blocked for maintenance?! It was likely due to her pizza delivery scooter skills that she had even been able to make it the station just five minutes after eight, she would have to thank Mr. Papa later for drilling into her head 'the fastest delivery guaranteed!' It just so happened today... She was delivering herself? So there was no way she would ever be late!

The blonde girl practically sprinted through the station entrance, flashing her train pass by and still running toward the platform. Beru was finally able to breathe out a gasp of relief, quite literally arriving at the platform just minutes before the train was set to depart.

"Ah! E-Eve-chan~!" The blonde raised her hand in a giant wave, the panda on her shoulder following as well. Despite the frantic morning, Beru still held a happy grin on her face. When she did finally reach the plum haired girl, the blonde was finally able to catch her breathe. She slumped her shoulders, adjusting her red framed glasses. "Gah! You wouldn't believe the k-kind of morning I had! First I overslept a-and then forgot my train pass. And then these pigeons really wanted to tell me a-absolutely everything that'd been happening the past week. And then the street was closed f-for maintenance and I had to take a detour. A-And then I nearly crashed into a man made of goop!" Beru blurted out her hectic morning seemingly in all one big breathe. The girl had taken hold of her green hat with a white bow, securing it tightly on her head. Xiao Xiao held tight to Beru's shoulder, nodding in confirmation of his partner's tales, since he too had been along for the ride. Despite having to get ready in a rush, the girl's outfit was rather well coordinated. The colors were her usual theme of orange, white and green. A poofy orange parka enveloped her upper half, though left open to reveal the front of white longsleeve undershirt. She wore simply green capri pants and on her feet were a pair of comfortable slip on sneakers. Since they were heading to her home afterwards, there wasn't a need for Beru's to really pack anything, so she had a simple light green cross shoulder bag. A small little purse that held just enough of the girl's necessities, such as her train pass scooter keys, cell phone and campus ID to name a few. It was obvious that Beru's outfit wasn't one meant for a high fashion style, but was out together for the sake of simplicity and comfort. Though it did still look very cute in a Beru-like fashion.

Beru's Fun Outfit

"Oh...! Eve-chan, you look s-so cute!" Beru looked to the French teen, finally noticing the other girl's outfit. The violin pattern dress seemed to especially add a kawaii factor to Eve's clothing, all in neutral, autumnal tones. It was as if the clothing seemed to perfectly fit the Delacroix teen, very much in the Eve-like fashion, something cute but also professional, nothing exactly over the top but it certainly showed she cared about her appearance. Something very much like an Eve-thing to do.

And just as the Beru (and the panda) were chatting away, the announcement soon came that the train was to depart... Right away! Giggling a bit at just how on time she happened to be, Beru rushed onto the train with the French teen. The pair would hopefully find their seats just as the train began moving, and finally the blonde was able to fully relax. Xiao Xiao sat in her lap while Beru laid her head back with a sigh. "Ah... It's been so long since I've been able to go home." A dreamy smile made its way onto the girl's lips, soon turning into a laugh. It was true that the last time she had been really home was just at the beginning of summer, to visit her family for her brother's birthday. And before that... It had been at least Christmas time. Her work and living in the the city had really taken up a lot of her time and not to mention now with school.

"Oh! I bet it's even worse f-for Eve-chan since all your family's been in France! That's like... S-Super far!" The blonde blinked her emerald eyes in realization, but as always, Beru retained a happy smile. "B-But it's so nice that your family visits you! Your big sister was so much f-fun to meet!" Beru clapped her hands together, of course recalling the time that Eve's violet haired elder sibling had paid the French teen a visit along with all her other friends. Xiao Xiao grunted with a growl, also remembering the elder Delacroix daughter.

But for now, the zoo came first and family came second!

"I-I still can't believe we're finally going to the zoo together! H-Have you ever been to a Zoo Eve-chan? Y-You know there's a reptile exhibit? And there's elephants and a petting zoo! T-They even have little gerbils you can pick up and pet! Kyaaa~ Gerbils are so c-cute, th-they have the chubbiest cheeks. There's also lions and I-I've been practicing my roars with the lions that Torkkun gave me the membership with last Christmas!" Once again the blonde blurted out a myriad of sentences, all of which seemed to come on in one big breathe. She truly was excited for such a fun time at the zoo and certainly for Eve, a trip to the Zoo with Beru would prove unlike any other.

Just when the plum-haired girl was about to get out her phone and give Beru a call to find out where she was, she heard a familiar, chirpy voice calling her name. Eve blinked in surprise, and raised her head from being buried in her phone, and immediately started smiling with sheer relief spread across her features. The blonde came running for her, obviously out of breath and rather flustered as well. Under normal circumstances, the usual stickler for rules and times and such would have lectured her friend about nearly being late, but she was just so glad to see the other girl that instead, Eve beamed and held a hand up in a small wave of returned greeting. “Good morning, Beru-chan!” She never usually used honorifics of any sort, but it somewhat rubbed off on her after being around the cheery blonde for so long. Shortly after greeting her friend, said girl launched into quite the tale about the sort of morning she had experienced, and it had Eve’s sapphire blue orbs widening in surprise. It seemed like everything aligned itself against poor Beru this morning! No wonder she was late! In spite of being late in such a way, the other girl was well co-ordinated as usual in her typical colour palettes of greens, oranges and whites. An outfit certainly more practical than the one that the French girl had chosen, and suitably cute in its own way. “Dealing with all of that and still making it here before the train… goodness me, you must be a wizard!” Eve giggled, politely covering her mouth with her hand as she made this gesture. It felt nice to be in the presence of Beru, somebody whom she considered to be a close friend, and a very huge change of pace from her other friends. Of course, both Tork and Mia were extroverted and enjoyed being personable as well, but they didn’t even begin to compare to the blonde girl currently in front of her. She was always so bright, airy and cheerful, no matter what!

While she was considering such things, she was taken by surprise when her friend complimented her attire by claiming that she looked ‘so cute’. Her cheeks immediately flushed with gratitude, and she smoothed her hands down over her dress while simultaneously putting her phone back into her deep coat pockets. “T-Thank you! Mia helped me choose this outfit, and it wasn’t my first choice of something to wear… but it’s grown very much on me.” She admitted bashfully, smiling all the same which proved that she very much liked the compliment, even if she was shy about it. She idly raised a hand and started to play with her long plum locks draped over her shoulder, and tilted her head to the side as she admired Beru’s attire once more. She had been wanting to say something about it before, and how well co-ordinated it was in its own way, but had been a little shy to do so. But now she had been complimented, it was only common courtesy to return a compliment. “And I very much like your outfit too, Beru-chan! It’s so bright and cheery, like you.” She beamed, closing her eyes briefly to accommodate for her wide smile.

Soon after their observations of one another’s outfits, the train drew up to the platform, and the girls hustled on-board. Finding seats quite close to the exit of this carriage, they sat down together and Beru finally seemed to relax after quite a rushed and hurried morning. Eve settled back in her seat, which was closer to the window while her friend took the aisle seat, and sighed softly as she pulled her backpack round to sit on her lap. The train journey wasn’t a long one; only perhaps twenty minutes, if she remembered correctly. She was also a bit too chilly to take off her warm winter coat, and as such, stayed very much clothed for the outdoors even on the pleasantly warm train. She smiled slightly as Beru expressed her delight about being able to go home, nodding and hugging her backpack up to her chest. “It’s nice to have the long weekend so we can travel further afield, absolutely.” She agreed, suitably excited (and extremely nervous) to meet Beru’s family. She had heard quite a bit about them thus far from numerous talks she had shared with her friend, and was excited to learn more as well when they got there this evening. After this, the emerald-eyed girl suddenly spoke up about how much worse it must be for Eve as well, because her family were all in France. As always, Beru concerned herself with her friends and their lives, and it made the plum-haired girl smile warmly while she looked at the blonde seated next to her with that happy smile of hers. It was indeed ‘super far’ for her to go and visit her family, and it was part of the reason why she was living full-time in Japan, alongside the fact that she was busy with school here. That, and the fact that Noir was so controlling of her and her life to the point where they didn’t allow her any time to see her family, to hold her better under their grasp. This latter thought made her consider something that she been wanting to talk to Beru about, but she hesitated. Now wasn’t really the time or place to open up about it. She made a mental note to bring it up when they were safely enjoying their time at Beru’s home.

“It’s alright. My mother and father are always really busy with the various family businesses lately, and my two brothers are really involved in their job and study choices. Marceau, my eldest brother, is in Politics back in France. And Laurent, my other older brother, is studying Law at Cambridge University.” She explained, having no issues referring to her family whatsoever. It was difficult, because she really did miss them a lot. But, it was nice to think about them and what they were doing. Through Val and her rebellious ways, she was able to get snippets of information about how the others were doing as well. “I miss them, but we’re all busy with our own lives. I’ll see them when I graduate.” She added with a small nod, and chuckled as her mind was cast back to the flying visit that Val had paid in Spring of this year. While it ultimately sparked an awful deal that she struggled to uphold, it had been nice to see her eldest sibling and spend time with her, no matter how fleeting it truly was. “Val loved meeting all of you too! And don’t worry, she’ll certainly be back, I’d expect. She’s always been the free spirit of the family.” It was true; while Val was very dedicated to her athletics and career as a young Olympian, she was also filled with a great amount of wanderlust. She loved to visit different places, and Japan was no exception. She’d find an excuse to come back sooner or later, but only when Noir’s hold had lessened enough.

The topic changed swiftly, now relating to their visit to the zoo today. Beru expressed her excitement and asked if Eve had ever visited a zoo before, which had the plum-haired girl shaking her head thoughtfully. Living a very sheltered upbringing meant that there wasn’t much time for frivolous excursions when she could be studying or training, so she had missed out in that regard. It was how she had never really seen any movies, or read many popular books, or been to many places that most would have visited in their youth. Now that she was her own young woman in Japan, she was rectifying all of that with the help of her friends. She listened intently to all of what Beru told her, absorbing it all and nodding every so often to prove just how interested she was in this information. She was a little bit wary of the talk of the reptile exhibit (she was never too fond of scaly, creepy animals), but at mentions of there being a petting zoo, baby elephants and gerbils, her eyes started sparkling. “That all sounds like so much fun…” She ended up whispering with excitement, imagining being able to pet all of the cutest animals at the zoo. Beru talked about how there were also lions, and she had been practising her roars since Tork had given her that present of a video link to a lion enclosure. Mention of her boyfriend had her perking up even more, and she giggled softly with a small nod. “You can try them out today, too, because we have a lot of access to behind-the-scenes areas of the zoo.” She pointed out with a cheery smile, sapphire eyes glistening slightly with excitement for the whole excursion. “The lions are included in that package as well.” Added with a nod, she turned her attention briefly out of the train’s window to the remnants of Tatooin City as they passed through. Now, they were out in the countryside, and heading for the zoo which spanned many a mile.

Not long now! Indeed, to confirm this, the train’s conductor spoke over the intercom and notified the passengers that they would be arriving at the zoo in less than five minutes. Already? Time seemed to have all but flown by!

"W-Wow! Eve-chan your family sounds s-so amazing!" Beru gasped aloud, hearing about all the absolutely spectacular endeavors of the Delacroix family only reminded the blonde of just how high class and fancy Eve was. Her parents in a really fancy business, a brother in law school, another a politician, and not mention her Olympic athlete of a sister! It was certainly so that Eve was second to none, even in her genes! And here she was just a regular enough girl sitting next to a prodigy, and all the while she was even friends with such a nice girl as Eve. Certainly as well, despite her high standing background, the plum haired French teen was more genuinely adorable and kind than anyone Beru had ever known.

And of course on the topic of families, it was true that later on the two would be spending the long weekend at Beru's very own home. The entire Kemono household was just as excited to meet the French teen as Beru was introduce her. Not only were both of her parents and all the household animals would be there, but even her big brother had come in from America! "O-oh~! My big brother's c-coming in to visit too! He's a hero consultant for the LAPD, Los Angeles Police Department!" Obviously Beru shone wirh pride at mentioning her hero brother, just as the Delacroix girl had her siblings with great achievements, Beru idolized heroes brother like no hero! "He's so excited to meet you! And so is my dad and my mom... and Akagi-chan, and Shiro-chan and Kuro-chan!" Beru began listing off an extensive range of names afterwards besides her immediate sounding family members, which could only be assumed they were all animals that were also part of Kemono family. Though Xiao Xiao only halfway followed few conversation between the two girls, the panda at once perked up at the naming of the many, many animal family members.

But now of course the train sped faster their destination. Not only was it the blonde herself who had basically indoctrinated Eve into the world of manga and anime, but now she was getting the chance to take Eve to her very first zoo! The French teen had never been to a zoo before? Beru had once looked on incredulously, of course it made sense since her family was often so busy, but this was probably why the blonde had insisted that Eve and herself go together.

After all, with a quirk that allowed communication with animals, a trip to the zoo with a Kemono, was really unlike any other experience.

Not to mention that Eve had gotten them super special VIP tickets! Bringing up their VIP status once again, Beru gasped in amazement and squealed a little as well. "A-Ah~ A behind t-the scenes tour! We'll be able to get s-so close!! A-And I'll be able to practice my elephant trumpets! Oh gosh, Eve-chan you have no idea how hard it is a speak in e-elephant trumpets! O-or alligator bellows!" And just as conversation about the zoo came along, Beru was able to go off on a tangent of some of the more difficult animals sounds to mimic. For the blonde personally it was that of mainly larger animals, such as elephants, alligators, and even whales, with large, loud and deep voices that understandably caused the girl some trouble when she tried to converse.

It was just then that they heard the announcement over the speakers, the train was arriving! Beru squealed aloud in excitement again and once the train would stop, happily departed the carriage with Eve in tow. The blonde would continue on about Zoos for just a bit as the pair would walk to the gates. Recalling once how when she was very young, she had actually gotten lost in a zoo! But thanks to her quirk and all the very helpful and friendly animals, she had been able to find her parents and brother again. "I-I must've been like four years old or s-something! It had been so s-scary! But the rhinos were so nice to tell me which way go and the g-giraffes were even able to spot my parents from across the zoo!" While it probably hadn't been so entertaining to a lost four years old, Beru was able to laugh about it now and likely get at least one slightly embarrassing story out of the way before one of her family members could tell it.

And now as the pair approached the zoo gates, the girl's could already see beyond to the zoo enclosures and further to a giant net-dome and greenhouse, the Avian and Reptile houses respectively. Though there was and bit of and autumn breeze in the air, the early blue sky stretched out with cotton candy white clouds dotting the horizon. Small crowds of people were already gathering around the entrance, making their own trips for a wonderful day at the zoo.

"E-Eve-chan! Since this is you first trip to the zoo, let's take a picture!" And so, the blonde would hold Eve close to her while whipping out a familiar looking Polaroid camera from her bag. In gact it was the very same one that Eve would have posed for nearly a year ago at the Christmas party. Indeed, though now Beru had one of those fancy smartphones (also a courtesy/compensation from the Winter Party around that same time) that had a camera, there was something just wonderful about a good old fashioned Polaroid. On her shoulder, Xiao Xiao would growl a smirk at the camera, while Beru would giggle aloud. "Say cheese~!" The camera flashed a brilliant white and then immediately afterwards printed out a square photo. Beru took it carefully with her hands and then smiled with a satisfactory grin. The blonde held photo out to Eve, offering it for the Plum haired teen to keep.

"So you'll always remember, okay? Not that you'd ever forget!"

Maintaining her happy go lucky grin, Beru was focused on making sure that this trip to the zoo would be the best one yet, especially for Eve's first time!

Indeed, a noticeable sense of pride seemed to swell in the plum-haired girl as she spoke about her family. While it was true that she and her parents had never seen eye to eye, courtesy of them always being so busy, but she loved all of her siblings and everything they did. She wasn’t able to not be proud of them all and what they were doing! So when Beru expressed her amazement at how successful and busy her family was, the youngest of the Delacroix brood smiled and nodded gleefully, closing her eyes and tilting her head to the side to accommodate for her huge amount of pride and joy at talking about her family. “They really are amazing, absolutely!” She agreed whole-heartedly, and her sapphire eyes all but sparkled as she opened them again. “It makes me feel a little left behind when I hear about all of their adventures and day-to-day lives through our text messages and such. Everything happens so quickly back home, so I’m always just a little out of the loop. Val is always jetting around the world for different training and athletics competitions in preparation for the next Olympics. Marceau is always attending different conferences all across Europe with the French Prime Minister. And Laurent has managed to get himself into various law internships alongside his schooling, namely in Canada over this summer just gone.” She shook her head fondly at the antics of her siblings and just how… successful they all were. As the youngest, she hadn’t really been given the chance to show her true colours and how she compared to them, but considering that her eldest sibling was barely twenty two years of age… it was quite astounding how her older siblings had achieved so much in their short lives already.

The topic shifted somewhat, but in the same direction somewhat as Beru brought up her own family. Eve listened attentively as her friend told her about how her older brother would be coming home, and how he was a Hero consultant for such a famous department as the Los Angeles branch in policing. The French teen’s eyes lit up and she beamed with delight and amazement, a small giggle leaving her lips as she clasped her hands together in the same motion. “That’s so exciting! It must be nice to have him come home, huh?” She questioned brightly, already easing into the way in which conversation with Beru was so lightning quick. As a naturally introverted girl, it was difficult to see how that was the case right now. Eve had truly become a lot more at ease with her bright spark of a friend, and was smiling easily with delight at the news of how Beru’s brother was coming home. Knowing how much the blonde loved her family and spending time with them, the Delacroix girl was extremely happy for her friend! At mention of how excited her brother and the rest of her family were to meet her, however, had the bashful and easily embarrassed side of her coming out in full force. Her cheeks flushed crimson and she blinked owlishly as she looked at Beru, not quite sure how to take this information. What had her friend been telling her family about Eve?! Oh goodness, they would be expecting so much of her! “B-Beru-chan, I’m not sure what you’ve told your family, but you’re making it sound as if I’m a celebrity!” She all but squeaked with embarrassment, and hid her tomato-red face in her hands briefly to gather her composure. The irony in this was… well, she kind of was a celebrity in Japan! She always forgot… no matter how many times she got recognised in the streets and such. “I-I’m very excited to meet all of them too, though.” She admitted sheepishly as she calmed herself, her cheeks a very healthy pink shade as she peeked out from behind her hands. “T-T-They sound l-lovely from what you’ve told me.” She nodded and lowered her hands finally with a small sigh.

At her admittance that she had never been to a zoo before, Beru stared at her wide-eyed. The previous crimson hue of the Delacroix girl’s cheeks returned, but she was smiling this time. “I’ve always wanted to go, but it was never all too high on my parents’ list of priorities when my siblings and I were growing up.” She admitted with a small nod, and tilted her head to the side curiously when she watched her hyperactive blonde friend get extremely excited at the prospect of their VIP tickets. She listened, transfixed, as she took in the intricate details of how difficult it was to communicate using alligator bellows and elephant trumpets, imagining the sounds in her head for herself. She only knew what elephants sounded like when they trumpeted to communicate, and that did seem very difficult indeed! Not really an authority on the subject, she still took her friend’s words to heart and nodded along enthusiastically and smiled, unable to wipe the infectious thing from her lips.

Barely given the chance to take much of a breath, Eve found herself being tugged up from their seated position on the train when they started to pull into the station. All she could do was grip her backpack tightly as she was dragged from the train behind Beru, cheeks having faded from being red but still tinged with pink at the bodily contact she sustained with her bubbly friend. She wasn’t a stranger anymore to the concept of holding hands, linking arms and such, but with a friend such as the blonde in front of her, it was still quite new to her. Nevertheless, it felt nice to be close together like this, and she listened to the story of how Beru got lost in a zoo when she was quite young. Thanks to a lot of lovely animals, she was able to reunite with her family, which had the plum-haired girl smiling at memory she was being told about. “It sounds like quite the ordeal.” She agreed with her friend as they stopped just within the zoo’s entrance, and she was given the chance to absorb the glorious surroundings. It was a different world altogether considering what Eve was used to, but she found a great sense of delight and excitement as she surveyed the area with a bright smile on her face. “Wow…” She breathed as she watched the crowds of people, the numerous vendors circulating around the front, various stalls and souvenirs being sold… it was amazing! It reminded her of the carnival she had attended for her sixteenth birthday, but even more wonderful. As she was surveying this alien place, she was jolted by Beru and as the plum-haired girl turned to see what was the matter, it didn’t actually occur to her what had been said.

It was just as well, because she hated photographs.
Eve's smile caught-off-guard

The result of being caught by surprise in her delighted and awe-struck state was a breath-taking smile from the French girl, and coupled with her adorable blonde friend, the pair looked well and truly delighted to be at the zoo like this. Eve’s cheeks flared as vibrantly as the various red balloons being sold here while she watched the photo being printed, but she couldn’t help feeling… extremely touched. The words from earlier started sinking into her head; it was indeed her first trip to the zoo, and a memory like this was magical… even if she’d never admit it. She looked at the photograph of the two girls’ genuine and elated smiles and delight at being here, and pouted somewhat. “I-I wasn’t ready!” She insisted, albeit weakly, as the sight of the adorable photo grew on her. It was given to her to keep, and she smiled shyly as she took it delicately in her hands, giving it one last look with a soft look in her sapphire blue eyes. “B-But it’s a lovely photo of you, so I’ll treasure it forever… of course.” Not quite able to shake that Tsundereness she had in almost all aspects of her life, it softened as she admitted that she would keep the photograph forever and remember this wonderful moment. She put the photo away carefully in her bag, pressing it between the pages of a book she had brought to keep it pristine and neat.

“So! Let’s start planning our route!” Eve focused on the more pragmatic issue at hand, and after taking a map from one of the wandering vendors, she started scanning over it quickly to find the best route for them to take around the zoo. By the looks of things, there was a natural progression from the eastern side of the zoo, where everybody entered, to the western side of the zoo, where the exit was located. “It looks like the petting zoo and similar attractions are just over that way.” She gestured towards the aforementioned things without looking up from the map, memorising it all rather quickly and folding it back up neatly and into her jacket pocket. “Let’s start there and walk around all the different enclosures! The zoo is split into various habitats that change if we follow the right path. It’s all sign-posted and such.” She smiled and adjusted her backpack better on her shoulders before flashing a smile at Beru and Xiao Xiao. “Shall we?”

Of course on the topic of families and further mentioning the endeavors of her siblings, Eve made the comment of how nice it was for Beru’s brother to come home. Beru nodded her head up and down, waving her hands wildly as her emerald eyes sparkle with pride. “Toniisan might n-not come home a whole lot, but t-that’s okay ‘cause h-he gets so busy all the time with h-hero work! He and Masa-chan, that’s his partner, are a-always so busy fighting against LA gangs and cartels!” Though it was true that since that her brother, since moving back to America, didn’t visit as often as he could have liked, Beru understood the importance of his work as a hero. “D-Daddy’s like that too! U-uh… I m-mean Agent K! H-He goes undercover and does all types of c-covert o-operations and s-secret hero missions!” At the mentioning of her brother always being overtaken with hero work, it also brought up the fact that her father was in very much a similar situation. However, there was still shining admiration in the blonde’s voice, obviously very proud of her family member’s positions heroes, a career that she so aspired for herself.

Hearing then about Eve’s sudden worry about what the blonde had told her family of the plum haired teen herself, Beru waved off the girl’s worry with a smile. “Oh of course I t-told them all the amazing things a-about Eve-chan! Like how y-you’re super strong and s-super adorable! How a-awesome you were at the sports festival and how amazingly famous a hero! How you have a mafia thug as your boyfriend! How you can make use your quirk to e-earthquake entire b-buildings! And that you can cook! O-oh, and that you’re French!” Beru at once began listing off just some of things that she had informed her family of the French teen, of course each detail being the most accurate and totally non-exaggerated comment in Beru’s mind. Xiao Xiao nodded in agreement to all the great facts that Beru stated, growling with a happy smirk. “I’m absolutely sure th-that they’ll absolutely love you!” It was practically already a fact in the blonde’s mind, since it was a very rare occurrence that anyone that Beru introduced to her family wasn’t immediate welcome. Besides perhaps that one time she had made friends with swarm of mosquitoes as a very young girl, though that was a story for another time.

Of course, now, Beru was ever elated at the prospect of showing Eve around on her first trip to the zoo. It was an honor that befell like no other before the blonde, and Beru herself knew she would have to make this zoo trip the best first zoo trip ever! It was obvious that even setting foot at the gates that the plum haired Eve was taken away by site of the crowds and playful atmosphere. So when Beru had taken the French teen in to a photograph, the blonde couldn’t help but giggle at Eve’s instance of surprise and even pouting at the photograph of the two. There were often just little nuances of Eve’s nature that gave off a tsundere vibe, though Beru had only witnessed the details just a few times herself. In their time at school, Eve often was the senpai figure to her first year counterparts, Beru at times included, as well as the capable and friendly prefect to those in the dorms. The pair had had few times together outside of school, unlike last year, so it was very much a relief and a welcome change to see Eve’s more playful personality.

Soon however, the pratical persona of the Delacroix girl returned, for it was time to truly begin their visit! “Yes, yes!” Beru put her hand up in a playfully serious salute, Xiao Xiao following her motions, since it had become the blonde’s personal mission to make the zoo visit a great one!

“Kya~! Guinea Pigs and G-Goats, here we come!” Taking the plum haired girl by the arm, Beru walked with happy steps toward their first destination, the petting zoo!

Upon arrival, the girls would first see the goat enclosure, large brown posts and fences separated a small herd of the farm animals from the sidewalk. A small kiosk supplied cups of crackers and carrots to zoo goers to feed to the animals, most of which practically were glued to the holes in the large gaps in the fences to obtain such treats. Beru already grabbed two cups of carrots, handing one to the Eve. “Hehe~! Wanna feed them? Careful, d-don’t get your fingers nibbled off too~!” Beru winked at Eve with a cheerful tease, as if to hint that that it was a very likely possibility, before then turning her of goats herself.

“Blll-e-ee-eeeat!” Beru called out in the exact tongue to the farm animals, the herd of them immediately crowding the blonde herself. And while it was a near everyday occurrence that the animals received food from zoo goers, it wasn’t as often that they met someone who could speak directly back to them. And it seemed that the goats had a quite a lot to say, all them suddenly bleating at once and surrounding the blonde, happily bleating back while also giving the animals their carrot treats. While Beru held the cup in one hand, Xiao Xiao was able to take a sniff at the carrots, only to be scolded by the blonde herself. Xiao Xiao would point away his nose anyway, finding immediately that carrots weren’t bamboo shoots.

“Go ahead, Eve-chan! Goats are always hungry for a carrot!” Beru switched back to human language to call back to her plum haired human friend and encourage her to feed the goats. The blonded was waving with a carrot in her hand, all the while the very same goats following the stick in Beru’s hand.

At another point in her life before meeting all of her very extroverted friends, Eve was much more of a listener than a talker, and it showed in how attentively she listened to Beru’s words. It was understandable that due to her older brother’s work that he wouldn’t be able to visit home as much as he, or his family might like, but his younger sibling was suitably amazed and proud of what he was doing in America. The blonde talked about how he and his partner would work tirelessly to bust cartels and gangs and all sorts over in L.A., which had Eve’s eyes widening in surprise and amazement. It was rather bizarre, considering how she saw her friend to be and act. All she could think of was an older and male version of Beru, and as such, it was very strange to imagine him doing such dangerous work and the like! Apparently, her father was very similar in his consistent work as a Hero, and the blonde seated beside her corrected herself when she firstly referred to him as her dad. Her correction came in the form of referring to him as ‘Agent K’, which further surprised the Delacroix girl seated beside Beru. The codename was due to the fact that her father underwent all sorts of covert operations in his Heroism, which was something that Eve found a great deal of interest and respect for. It was one thing to be a Hero in the world as they knew it, what with all the hoops to jump through and licensing to take place, but it was a whole other story to be those who worked undercover tirelessly to keep their society safe. To not get recognition for their work must be its own brand of frustration; seeing how popular Heroes in the spotlight gained the adoration of children and adults alike, while their work went unseen. It was truly admirable.

“That all sounds amazing! And you sound extremely proud of them too, Beru-chan.” She smiled, turning to look at her friend properly with that same warm smile on her lips. “I’m sure that alone makes all of their hard work worthwhile.” She nodded, still feeling a very certain type of anxiety permeating her being as she thought about meeting these amazing people. And of course, it wasn’t helped when her friend started talking about what she had told her family about the French girl.

Apparently, Beru had told her family all of the amazing things about her, and this immediately had the plum-haired girl blushing very heavily. It didn’t get any better; she only grew more and more flustered as she listened to all of the things that had been said about her. The blonde had told her family about how Eve was ‘super strong’ and ‘super adorable’, how amazing she was at the Sports Festival, and how famous of a Hero she was, how she had a Mafia thug as a boyfriend (the heat rising to her face at this point was almost unbearable, she realised), how she could use her quirk to make earthquakes to shake buildings, how she could cook, and that… well, she was French. The onslaught of praise that Beru had told her family was almost too much for the poor, bashful Delacroix teen. If she was indeed her ‘Mafia thug of a boyfriend’, she would have overheated somewhere between being called super strong and being able to make earthquakes with her quirk. Literally feeling speechless, Eve blinked owlishly while she tried and failed to regain her composure in the face of such embarrassment. “O-Oh wow…” She muttered, feeling all but dazed by the sheer amount of compliments that had been launched at her. “I-I really hope that I can live up to all of that!” She raised her hands up to her face to try and hide the huge blush currently covering her face, but failed in the endeavour. She looked more tomato than human at this point. “Y-You know, you shouldn’t call Tork a thug to his face. We don’t need him getting an even larger ego.” Finding comfort in one of her favourite pastimes, teasing her boyfriend (regardless of whether or not he was there), she started to calm down. It was rather amusing to imagine Tork’s face after Beru called him a ‘Mafia thug’, and it was something she would very much love to see if she wasn’t given a flurry of compliments beforehand. At Beru’s assurance that her family would love the plum-haired girl, all she could do was nod and resume hiding her face, this time behind her bangs, with a small sound that somewhat resembled a ‘Yes’ leaving her lips.

And of course, they departed the train before heading into the zoo itself. After Beru captured a sneaky picture of the two of them together, with Eve’s Tsundere aspect of her persona showing through in a bit of a rare occurrence, they turned their attention to the zoo visit itself. The plum-haired girl had easily identified their route around the zoo, courtesy of a map she secured for both of them, and it seemed that the first destination for them to visit was the petting zoo. This had her excitement becoming visible as she imagined being able to pet all sorts of cute animals! Before she could start walking herself, her hyperactive friend took her by the arm and started leading the way, interlinking their arms as they walked which had Eve practically beaming. While she would certainly never have it be said, she rather enjoyed physical contact between herself and those she was close to. There was something about a physical connection that she really liked, and it was why she enjoyed holding hands or linking arms with her friends. Of course, she frequently held hands with her boyfriend as well, which always had him getting very flustered, courtesy of him wanting to appear as thug as he could be in public. Her grinning and holding his hand as a classic ‘PDA’ wasn’t something he appeared pleased with outwardly, but she knew he loved it really.

Upon reaching the petting zoo, Beru continued to take the lead and pulled her more bashful plum-haired friend to the kiosk to get some cups of carrots to feed to the goats. It always managed to surprise Eve just how fast her friend managed to move, and before she had much time to breathe, she was handed a cup of carrots and told to be careful about not getting her fingers nibbled off as she fed the goats. She blinked owlishly, and followed hurriedly after her friend with concern etched on her face. “U-Um, Beru-chan! They won’t really eat my fingers… w-will they?” She asked sheepishly, entering the pen and watching as Beru was suddenly surrounded by goats courtesy of her quirk which allowed for her to communicate with animals in their own tongue. Eve watched from the corner of the goat pen, eyes wide with both awe and amazement as she watched. Having not really been surrounded by animals growing up, she felt a little bit out of her element, especially in her rather lovely attire in a dirty, rough-n-ready goat pen. She was startled when her friend called out to her, encouraging her to feed the goats a carrot. This had a few of the goats surrounding her breaking away curiously, trotting towards the other human in their midst. They started sniffing around her, quite liking her scent, evidently.

“H-Hello little goats…” She talked to them softly, taking out a single carrot from the cup in her hand and holding it a little bit sheepishly while she watched the goats get excited at the prospect of food. “I-I can’t talk to you in your own language like Beru-chan can, but… here you are…” She hesitantly started lowering the carrot down to the nearest goat, who had taken a special liking to her. It gently nibbled at the carrot in her hand, delicately taking it from her hand when it was a mere stub remaining as not to bite her fingers. Eve started beaming delightedly at her success, crouching down and petting the kind little goat happily. “Hehe, you’re very cute, aren’t you?” She found herself cooing at the goat, which bleated at her in a way that she interpreted as being rather happy about being called ‘cute’. “Oh, the rest of you are as well, of course!” She quickly amended her comment and looked around at the other goats which had gathered around her, going about feeding each of them a carrot in turn. She did so with a sort of firmness of a mother telling her children to be patient and wait their turn, and remarkably, the goats obeyed. “Good! See, waiting your turn wasn’t too bad now, was it?” She asked them all with a smile, tipping her cup upside down to prove that it was empty. In spite of that, the goats didn’t move away from her, and instead bleated in varying tones at her. “You all want pets?” She tilted her head to the side, and crouched down to pat each goat on the head. Their responses were very positive, ranging from bleating with delight, to nuzzling up to her and almost pushing her to fall over, it had the plum-haired girl laughing happily. “I’ll take that as a yes!”

Beru was rather oblivious to any reason of why Eve would be so embarrassed after the barrage of compliments the blonde threw at her. After all, in Beru’s mind it was quite as obvious at how amazing the French teen was. In any case, it was rather adorable to see Eve blush so much and in regards to her boyfriend, Beru gave a puzzling stare back before bursting into giggles. “T-Torkkun does think a lot of himself, especially ‘cause n-now he’s got Eve-chan as his girlfriend.” Beru noted the slight change in Tork’s demeanor since the Italian and Eve had officially become a couple. He definitely seemed a lot happier, to say the least, and of course, so had Eve! It was usually the thing that happened when people fell in love, and it was just an adorable thing as well!

Of course, soon making their way into the zoo. Beru was at her natural cheery best! Being together with Eve was something that the two girls really hadn’t had enough of and the blonde was just as determined to make their time the best it could be!

Once they had entered the petting zoo with the goats, Eve seemed to take Beru’s comment of being careful not to get her fingers bitten off rather seriously, thus eliciting another set of giggles from the blonde. “Of course not!” It only truly pointed out Eve’s inexperience in such things, which Beru found to be even more adoring about the plum haired teen even more.

But it seemed like Eve was getting used to animals quite quickly! Though Beru was having a small herd surround her and was quite happy with bleating back (the goats had the silliest things to say, most in regards to the carrots and food and how many people always adored feeding them), she did notice that Eve was hesitantly feeding some goats on her own. And soon enough, the French teen had a small herd surrounding herself! With the goats bleating happily, Beru waved back to Eve making her way towards the girl with some goats following her. “Oh, Eve-chan, they really like you! Oh, and they say you smell really nice too~” Beru waved her finger in the air while adding on what the goats were talking about Eve herself. Xiao Xiao nodded with a growl, apparently agreeing to what goats where saying as well.

Though, their time in the goat pen would have to be cut somewhat short, Beru led Eve out while also waving back to the farm animals inside. “Oh, it was so nice to meet you too! Bleee-ee-eeat~!” The panda on her shoulder gave a wave and happy growl. The blonde then turned back to Eve, a new sparkle of excitement in her emerald eyes. “Ah~! Now we go pet the Guinea Pigs!” Beru led the way to another set of gates, though this time there were several large wooden cages with mesh windows a few feet high. Beru first went up to one the miniature pens, standing next to Zoo handler. Leaning over the sides, Beru giggled more with delight.

“Kyaaa~ So cutee~!” The girl practically squealed as she put her hands to her cheeks, looking down into the pen there were several black and white spotted guinea pigs inside. Their noses twitched up, looking curiously to the blonde who peered into their pen. Beru then immediately made a something of a whistling noise, to which a chorus of whistling noises were returned her by the guinea pigs below. The handler who stood beside the cage looked to the blonde and then down into the pen, obviously somewhat confused by conversation between Beru and the rodents. “Ah, Eve-chan! They’re just so fluffy! O-oh, and they say that they’ve never been petted by a French girl before!”

The handler would then pick up a Guinea pig, a black and brown spotted one, and handed it to Beru, and soon picker up a white and brown, very fluffy Guinea pig for Eve to hold if she so chose. The handler suggested for Eve to take a seat on a nearby bench, and then let the French teen hold the fluffy animal in her lap. Beru had already taken a seat, petting the soft fur of the rodent on the back. “Oh, that one’s name is Kiku-chan! He really likes it when you pet him on the top of the head, but behind the ears.” Beru informed Eve of the guinea pig’s ‘sweet spot’ of course learning such information from the guinea pig itself, as it apparently told her. The ball of fur in Beru’s care began making purring-blubbing noises as Beru stroked its fur gently. “That means they’re happy!”

Of course, it was the blonde absolutely loved Guinea pigs, being so cute and so personable. But as Beru definitely seemed to be placing most of her attention on the rodent, a certain panda cub was getting somewhat jealous. From his place on Beru’s shoulder, Xiao Xiao had looked curiously to the Guinea Pigs in the pen, obviously not as excited about meeting them as Beru was. To make things even more unnerving, was that Beru had taken on of them in her lap, petting the hairball and cooing at it like it was the best animal in the world!

Well… he was obviously a lot better than those furballs!

Xiao Xiao growled rather angrily (though in truth, it was only about as menacing as a small panda cub could be) as Beru held the guinea pig close to her. Beru seemed oblivious to the cub’s unhappiness until she held the small animal closer to her chest, which then Xiao Xiao took it was his opportunity to swipe at the rodent with outstretched claws!

“Eh? Xiao Xiao!” Beru held the guinea pig at arms length, thus also jerking her shoulder in the process. The panda cub lost his balance, nearly falling off the blonde’s shoulder before catching himself on the girl’s hood. Looking to the cub with a scold, Beru growled like a stern mother. “Grrr! That was rude! Now, say you’re sorry.” The guinea pig had sqeaked in surprise, now shaking in fear in the blonde’s arms. Xiao Xiao climbed back onto Beru’s shoulder, looking to the blonde with a begrudging growl. Beru continued to growl at him lowly, her stern emerald eyes not budging an inch. Finally, the panda cub gave in, slumping down toward the guinea pig with an apologetic growl.

The guinea pig looked back to the cub, twitching its nose, before whistling back with something of a smile on its muzzle. Beru nodded, guinea-whistling back to the guinea pig in her hand. The blonde then sighed aloud, turning to Eve chan after the incident. “I s-suppose its true that boys always get jealous!” Laughing aloud, Beru made the point that perhaps no matter what the species, boys will always get envious if their partner shows affection to someone besides themselves.

Eve wasn’t sure that it was otherwise possible to reach the temperatures she was currently experiencing due to embarrassment.

Her whole face was tomato red, and all but radiating heat following Beru’s bout of giggles at her earlier comment of how her boyfriend’s ego didn’t need any further boosts. She had long since given up trying to hide behind her hands or hair at this point, and was simply trying to calm herself down enough to make the horrendously obvious flush all over her face to go away. The further comment made about how Tork did indeed think a lot of himself, but seemed to do so more now that he and the French girl were a couple, had Eve blinking owlishly and fiddling with her bangs shyly. A rather dreamy smile touched her lips as she allowed this to sink in, and reflected on her relationship as a whole. Both she and the Italian idiot were happy together, courtesy of their previous distance being healed and everything being spoken about when Tork decided to go all ‘Romeo’ a couple of weeks ago. And of course, before summer, they were also very close and spent a lot of time together as well. It seemed that through everything they had been through, they had formed a bond which really was something; enough for it to be seen by Beru, their mutual friend, who saw their happiness as even a spectator to their relationship. “A-And so he should!” She flashed to her Tsundere tendencies and puffed her cheeks out while folding her arms firmly over her chest, nodding as if it were obvious that her boyfriend would have an inflated ego courtesy of dating her. “I-I suppose dating him isn’t too bad either…” She added, albeit bashfully and in an unbelievably Tsundere manner. Talk about an understatement.

But before long, it was time for some cute petting zoo action! The goats came first, and Eve was a little wary at first of the warning given that they would bite her fingers off. Apparently this had been a ruse, and Beru giggled while calling out to the French girl that the goats wouldn’t do such a thing. “O-Oh… I knew that!” Eve got defensive briefly, pouting a little to herself as she returned her attention to the adorable goats surrounding her. After finally gaining the courage to feed them, and pet them, they seemed to have taken quite a shine to her, which her friend confirmed also. Not only did they like her, they also seemed to think she smelled nice!

Compliments always made her bashful, no matter from whence they came, so her cheeks immediately assumed the ‘bashful redness’ shade that she felt more and more accustomed to since embarking on this trip alone. “I’m glad that you all think I smell nice.” She smiled shyly at the goats around her, getting back up to her feet properly and dusting off her dress in the process. “I-It’s a perfume, I think… or maybe my shampoo?” She wasn’t really sure what smelt so nice about her, so she was trying to smell herself over the almost overwhelming smell of the animals around her, but was able to get a whiff of anything. Whatever it was, the goats seemed sad to see her leave, and the sight of it almost broke her heart. As she and Beru met back up once more, the plum-haired girl was still a little flushed in the face, but not so much from the embarrassment/ bashfulness anymore. It was a mixture of the fresh air and happiness now, which was evident in her eyes when her friend claimed that it was time to go and meet the guinea pigs. “Y-Yeah!” She enthusiastically agreed when Beru called out their next destination, pumping a fist in the air to match her hyperactive friend’s excitement.

They reached another section of the petting zoo, this one considerably smaller due to the smallness of the next animal friends they were going to meet. Inside another set of gates, they reached some small pens that were meant to house the guinea pigs, and upon arrival, Beru squealed about how cute the little creatures were before Eve could get there and see for herself. She had seen some pictures of these animals before, but never before seen them up close, let alone held one or petted one. Today she would be doing both, it seemed! As she reached the pen beside her friend, the zoo handler distributed guinea pigs to them. Beru had already been conversing with them, it seemed, and said that the little animals had never been petted by a French girl before. This had said girl flushing once again (honestly, the consistent change of temperature between the rest of her and her face was making her a little dizzy), and getting all shy at the concept. She was the first Frenchwoman to pet these guinea pigs? Well, she had to make sure she was really good at it, and extremely friendly to them in order to leave a good impression! “I-I’m not sure that being French makes much of a difference, though, Beru-chan…” She pointed out with a small sweatdrop appearing at the back of her head. Perhaps it was her accent that would make things different? Although, the French twang in her accent was almost non-existent at this point; courtesy of spending so much time in her formative years attending school in England, and now living in Japan for a good length of time also.

The guinea pig entrusted to her was a white and brown fluffy one, and extremely soft. Not only that, but very light as well. Eve immediately started holding it a little bit like one might hold a child, looking up at the zoo handler and nodding intently as she was given instructions. It appeared as if she had just been given an important mission, not some pointers on how to hold and pet a guinea pig. She turned and headed towards the seats where her friend was, and settled down next to Beru with the fluffy ball of cuteness settled in her lap comfortably as well. Luckily, her friend’s ability to talk to animals proved itself useful once more, as the blonde gave a small spiel about the guinea pig currently seated in Eve’s lap. His name was Kiku, and he liked to be petted on the top of his head, but slightly behind his ears. The plum-haired girl nodded and looked down at the little animal in her lap, raising her right hand and oh-so gently starting to pet Kiku behind the ears as she had been advised. “Like this, Kiku?” She asked softly, and in response, she received a similar sort of purring-blubbing that Beru had received from petting her little fluffy friend. Eve’s face lit up and she beamed as she continued petting the guinea pig, marvelling at how soft he was. “Your fur is in lovely condition! And I’m glad that you’re enjoying being petted!” She expressed her delight to Kiku who was happily seated in her lap, enjoying every second of this by all accounts.

She was quite happily talking to the guinea pig even though she couldn’t understand what he was telling her in return, asking him how his day had been, how he kept his fur so clean and soft, if she was still petting him right. Because she was so absorbed in all of this, she was completely none-the-wiser to Xiao Xiao getting irritated, and she was surprised when Beru suddenly cried out and shifted from being comfortably seated beside Eve to jerking and shifting quite violently. Was she avoiding something? The plum-haired girl reacted quickly, holding her own guinea pig friend and shifting as well, turning and looking at her friend in the same motion and preparing to assist in whatever way she could. However… it seemed that the issue wasn’t something combat-related (in a petting zoo, this solution seemed a little farfetched to her in hindsight). Instead, it seemed that Xiao Xiao had tried to lash out at the guinea pig that his blonde companion was petting. Beru went full ‘mother’ mode and glared, demanding that the panda cub apologise for his behaviour, and saying that it was ‘rude’.

‘I suppose that’s one way to put it…’ Eve thought, eyes wide and blinking owlishly while she observed the rather bizarre scene unfolding. Eventually, Xiao Xiao seemed to apologise, and Beru turned to face the plum-haired girl while making a claim which… made an awful lot of sense. While she had never previously known what it was because of her innocence beforehand, Eve now knew why her boyfriend was so confrontational towards other boys whenever she was also around. It was how she had come to explain Tork’s behaviour around Kazama, a friend of hers, and why the Italian and Dylan had previously been on such bad terms. Perhaps all boys weren’t jealous types, just the headstrong ones? Eve sighed and nodded, sympathising with Beru’s statement all too well. “Oh, absolutely.” She agreed, and gave Kiku a few more pats behind the ears with a small smile on her lips. “They always get so… defensive.” Her cheeks were tinged ever-so-slightly with pink as her thoughts wandered somewhat, giggling a little as she got to her feet. “It’s not always a bad thing, I suppose… it also shows that they care. Boys always just take things too far, though.” She nodded her head in the direction of the zoo handler by the guinea pig pens, who was looking a little baffled after what had just occurred. “Let’s take these two back, shall we? We can make a start walking around the zoo enclosures!” She suggested, and went to hand her new little friend back to the handler so he could go back home. She said her goodbyes to the cute little guy, and told him to take care/ have a nice day.

After that, she waited for her friend and then started to lead the way over towards the exit of the petting zoo. A signpost pointed in various directions, but the one she was looking for was leading to their first habitat of the day: The Rainforest. She consciously patted her hair at the thought of rain and humidity, frowning as she wondered whether the habitat would really be intense enough to have her hair poof out of control. “The first habitat for us to explore is that way, Beru-chan, Xiao Xiao! I wonder what animals are waiting for us…” She was excited aside from the potential for a jeopardising factor to her good hair day, and beamed at the pair before pointing in the direction they were headed and hurrying that way.

I cannot begin to describe how adorable this thread is, this is a common theme with me talking about incomplete threads but if any of you so much as accept this EXP consider it as a binding oath. YOU HAVE TO DO A COMPLETE story arc with this exact scenario in the future if able because... it's too sweet.

Overall very nicely narrated, composed, especially liked the dialogue and descriptions. Couldn't ask for a more fun read myself and am anxiously awaiting a possible continuation in the near future.

Nice going and enjoy the rewards, you guys earned 'em~!
