They say that walking is the same as riding a bike. Once you learn how to do it you never really forget, Gale found that saying to be silly because people walked on their feet more often than they did riding on bikes. Or in his case riding on a homemade hoverboard. He had crashed, bashed, fallen, slipped, slammed, dropped, popped, and flopped off his hoverboard more times that he could count having done so on his old bike. Resulting in scrapes, bruises, blood, bones, and brains getting hurt. Though the man was no stranger to pain and even less stranger to causing it to himself. Sometimes you had to get hurt to make sure that something worked properly. "45th time is bound to get me somewhere." He said as in the dark alleyway of the Tokyo streets he had been balancing his act on the board. He had never ridden a skateboard, or even done snowboarding, he had to guess that air boarding was going to be the next thing up on the list if board-related sports. Hopping onto the board he practiced his balance one more as he revved up the hoverboard. It would hum loudly for a few seconds, float off the ground as it adjusted to his weight and then would finally get off the ground. He had gotten used to standing on it while it wasn't moving, but steering it in motion was the hard part. He leaned forward and backward to make it more, and would lean slightly to the left or right to steer. The controls for going higher and lower however were far more difficult to ascertain with simple foot movements. "So far so good..." He mumbled as he slowly rode through the air and onto the main streets making a turn onto the sidewalk and surprising many people when he emerged from the shadows. He was sure that it was probably illegal to ride this without some kind of permit but that was a problem for another day. For now he was just testing to make sure that he could maneuver this in and out of the city. His mind wandered as he floated through the city as a slow yet brisk pace. Similar to a bike... it reminded him of fall back in England. Though now he had the fortune of sharing a household with someone other than his immediate family. But that brought another thought into his head. It would be winter soon, and with winter came the season of giving... what ought he give to Shiori when that time came around? She was such an interesting yet mysterious girl after all... would something like flowers and chocolate even be good enough? Thinking about her gave him some ideas, after all Shiori wasn't a normal girl and hence a normal gift wouldn't suffice. No, he'd need to make something himself! A labor of love that would surely be appreciated. And he already had a few ideas to what might be perfect to surprise her with. With that he floated along his hoverboard to the nearest Hardware store, his mind buzzing with a flurry of beautiful and elegant ideas. Edited by Blasty McSplode, Sep 29 2016, 03:26 AM.

Today had been a fantastic shopping day, though Juba was beginning to feel the burn in her arms as she hauled her two large plastic bags along. They were absurdly large, especially when compared to her dainty frame, but she somehow managed to carry them. Actually, she had been making an effort to workout more ever since the Entrance Exam. She was dumbfounded that she had not only made Heroics, but also gotten into class 1-A. One thing that stuck out to her, however, was her lack of power. She had almost caused harm to those she was saving because of it, so as a way to stop that from happening in the future, Juba decided she needed to work on her upper-body strength. Thinking about this, the petite girl looked down at her large thighs, at least when compared to her noodle-like arms. She was born with a natural hourglass figure, making her hips quite broad. Admittedly, this also made carrying these bags more difficult as they often swayed and hit her sides if she wasn't walking completely straight. I just want to go home and work on my new toy... She whined in her head, thinking on all the things she had bought. Most girls her age would go out and buy new clothes or beauty products when shopping, but Juba was headed home from the hardware store with two bags full of assorted materials and equipment. This included metal frames, pipes, rubber, and other necessary components for her project. She had also made a quick stop at the local gag shop, since there was one extremely important item that couldn't really be bought at the hardware store. Despite how tired she was getting, the redhead could tell she was getting stronger. Not too long ago, she wouldn't have been able to carry these bags by herself at all. Struggling was an improvement from that, at least. In hopes she could get home faster through a shortcut, Juba went into a nearby alleyway and quickened her step. Once she was about halfway down the alley though, she saw a man make his way toward her at the other end. He appeared to have an unsavory smile and even called out to her, which made the girl extremely uncomfortable. As she turned to go back, she found that there was a man there as well. She was now stuck in the middle, with both men approaching her. "Hey there little lady, those are some nice goodies you got there. Why don't we help ya and take 'em off your hands?" One of them asked, with the other laughing in response. Juba began to visibly shake, unsure of what to do. It was a scary situation, and yet...she found part of herself entertained by their bravado. There was always something hilarious about shocking someone who exuded so much confidence. The toon side of her wanted to play, while the meek side of her wanted to run from these menacing hoodlums. Juba dropped both bags and hugged her chest, bending over herself slightly and allowing her hair to fall over his face. "P-please, leave me alone..." Even though she felt terrified, she felt a wide grin begin to spread across her face as they neared her. |

Carrying two sets of hefty bags made balance quirk the conundrum for Gale as he tried to not fall off his hoverboard once again knowing that the added weight of two bags would already be pushing the limits of his hoverboard. "Come on baby, just gotta get me home and I promise I'll improve you good as new!" The hoverboard puttered in response as it weakly located above the ground, only a few inches at this point. He might as well have been riding a skateboard since it wouldn't actually fall down or skid against the ground if his weight proved to be too much for the thing. Still, it would be worth a few scraps and bruises if she could get back home without too much any damage to his goods. Just one small part of the plan for a big bang come winter! As he floated through the streets his eyes wandered over to a cute petite girl carrying what looked to be supplies from the hardware store as well. She was cute honestly, and he had found himself staring at her from behind as she walked with the bags in her hands and seemingly struggling just a little bit. "I ought to help her but..." He mumbled as he followed quietly behind her. Part of his chivalrous fire still burned within him, but with Shiori now holding an interesting and special place in his heart he couldn't just go helping any cute girl he saw anymore...right? Wait, what was he thinking!? Not helping a person in need!? That's crazy, even if he was in a relationship he was just doing a good deed. Nothing wrong with helping a girl with her bags, it's the same as helping an old lady across the street. Yes, so long as he didn't do anything that could be misinterpreted as romantic or flirting he would be just fine. However, it seemed that some unpleasant men had intended to get in his way of his chivalrous nature. To make matters worse, these men were no doubt hassling the poor girl. He frowned as he checked his gloved hand, he could easily spray the men if they intended to be a nuisance to him or the lady he'd be able to quickly spray 'em in the eye and then take care of them. "Hey-" He spoke in English, forgetting that he hadn't actually practiced his Japanese that much since he had gotten to the country. But before he could finish speaking an immense wave of dread rolled over him, it was suffocating, like a bear pushing against his chest. And his cheek itched like crazy! Damnit, he thought he had gotten over it. But clearly demons of the past were still screwing with his ability to intervene in even the most simple of problems. His world felt dark and his arm was slowly creeping back to his cheek. He had taken a step back, but was pulled back into reality once he felt a sudden imbalance. After all, even in his seconds of terror he was still on his hoverboard and his step backwards and caused him to stumble off the board, which in turn sent the hoverboard flying forward right into the back of the of one of the men that had blocked onto Juba. The resulting fall caused his bags of belongings to spill out onto the ground around him. If only for added humor the hoverboard ricocheted off the back of the man's head and hit Gale square in the face before skidding onto the ground. Giving the poor Brit a painful nosebleed to go along with the headache he was feeling on the back of his head. It was almost something out of some cheap comedy skit. Except that no doubt the men would be approaching him with anger from his sudden "attack" and the poor Brit would be rather helpless on the ground. Putting his hands in the air, Gale hoped that the men would be able to see reason and that they could figure out this whole dispute like any normal gentleman would. "H-Hey... can't we talk about this?" He really hoped they understood English. |

Juba was snapped out of it by a voice coming from behind her. She slowly turned her head with a more fearful expression, but smile slightly at seeing that it was a boy. He had long hair and appeared to be riding something? Based on how he presented himself, she assumed and hoped he was there to help. His greeting was in English, which technically Juba didn't know, but she had seen enough American cartoons to know a few words and phrases. "Hey" was not a difficult word to learn, as it was a common greeting. Apparently he lost his footing, however, because he fell off of his board, which smacked into one of the brutish men that had threatened her. Not only that, but then it comically ricocheted off and hit the young boy in the face as well. The hilarity of it all was too much, causing Juba to begin laughing. "Ehyehehe~" The two men didn't pay her much attention though, mainly because they had their sights set on the boy now. He seemed to be trying to talk to them, but he was speaking a different language and had pissed off the two goons. Juba grinned mischievously as she reached into one of the bags by her feet, then whipped her legs out toward the two men. Unable to see the attack coming, they were suddenly tripped by her and fell to the ground. "Ehyehehehe~ That was some of the best slapstick I've seen in a long time, and believe me, I know my stuff." She mused aloud to them, mainly talking to the boy at this point. She then looked to one of the men getting up, who was about to turn and look at her. "Don't quit your day job bub, I think you might just wanna punch out." She joked with a wink, before pointing her extendable punching glove at the man and shooting it. This was what she had purchased at the gag store, and this bozo was getting to experience this gag first hand as it collided with his face and sent him back to the ground. His partner panicked, screaming something about a freak before hurriedly dragging the other away. This left Juba and the boy alone in the alley. Proud of her joke, Juba let out another goofy laugh. "Ehyehehehe~" It quickly faded, however, and then turned into a quiet sob as her big blue eyes welled up with tears. True, Juba enjoyed being able to get those men back and even test out her toy, but the prospect of what had just happened still terrified her. She was able to escape from most situations, but what would've happened if they managed to get a hold of her? Would they have stolen the hard-earned earned materials she had bought with her own money? Would they have roughed her up? Something worse? These scenarios terrified her, and she was just thankful to have gotten out of it. Oddly enough, this was much scarier to her than the house fire and fighting that villain had been during the Entrance Exam. She wanted to thank the boy for intervening, but for now she just needed a moment to sit in the alleyway and cry. When the bravado of her toon persona was gone, it left a meek and frightened fifteen year old girl that just wanted to go home. Edited by Blasty McSplode, Sep 30 2016, 01:41 AM.

Gale held his nose with one hand, while his other had been held out in hopes of appeasing the approaching thugs. But before they could lay a hand on him the girl carrying the bags had stretched out her legs and tripped up the two men right in front of him. And right as they were about to get up they had gotten bopped by what looked like one of those comical boxing gloves you'd find on one of those really old American cartoon shows. The girl was talking to him, in a tone that seemed wildly different than her attitude would suggest when he first saw her. But he wasn't complaining since she had sent the guys packing, they were shouting some other things that he couldn't really understand but it probably wasn't all that nice considering that the poor girl was now crying in the alleyway. Still pinching onto his nose he stood up rubbing the back of his head. That could've gone worse for the both of them had those men had really ill intentions. Or at least a bit more muscle and determination to get what they wanted. Picking up his board, and his scattered belongings his thoughts were plagued with shame and sorrow. In that moment where usually he wound find himself taking a beating for being a gallant knight he instead had a bleeding nose and a bruised head for being a coward. A COWARD! Now, there were times where he knew better than to get involved, but being afraid of getting involved was different than knowing that you were outclassed. And that fer was eating at him, the core of his being... He sighed as he frowned after collecting all his belongings and tucking his hoverboard under his armpits. The poor girl was still bawling her eyes out in a soft cry, even if he couldn't be the knight who saved the day he could at the very least try and comfort her. It was his duty... his responsibility for not having been there for her in her deserate time of need. Walking beside the girl he set down his bags and hovered, sitting beside her as he put a hand on her shoulder. The non-bloody one, he made sure of that. "You alright?" He spoke waiting for a response, but then he remembered that she might not have understood what he said. Heck, he didn't even understood what she was talking about earlier when she tripped up those thugs. So the next best thing to do was to go and take a page out of Shiori's book. Typing out a message onto his phone he smiled softly. Even if they weren't spoken, Gale liked to think himself quite a poet and master wordsmith. Of course, the translation might not have been as smooth, so it was probably best to go straight and simple. At least util he learned the language... he really needed Shiori to give him lessons on that. [Are you alright? Those guy's didn't hurt you or anything did they?] He had to struggle to keep himself from putting any details about how cute her face looked, mainly because it felt wrong to do so while with Shiori, and it probably wasn't the best of times to do so anyway. Man... how did Shiori do this for so much of her life? |

Juba was able to hold back some of her tears as the boy approached her, using her sleeve to wipe away the water in her eyes. He asked something of her, though she wasn't quite sure what it was. It was reasonable to assume he was checking on her, but she wouldn't know for sure since she didn't speak the language. It was then that she watched curiously as he began typing on his phone, then displayed the message to her. He must've used a translator of some sort, because the grammar wasn't completely right, but she understood the meaning of the message. She bit her bottom lip nervously, but nodded, then gently reached out to take the phone. She hesitated, since he possibly wouldn't want her to, but if he allowed it, she took his phone and wrote her own message back. She stood up and raised her hand to show him the screen, then bowed her head forward. [Thank you for interrupting. I was really scared. Is your head okay? I'm sorry I laughed at you.] Juba stayed bowed before him for a few more seconds, then typed up another message. [I bought things at the store to build something, but now I just want to sit for a while...] She was being somewhat vague about what she was building, mainly because she didn't feel like typing it all out here and explaining in this alleyway. She just wanted to get away, to relax and ease her nerves. She still felt a bit shaken up, but knowing this person was concerned had helped. [My name is Juba.] She then returned the phone back to him and put a dainty hand to her chest, gesturing to herself. "Juba." Yes, she had just introduced herself via text, but there was something about saying it out loud that felt better. Talking through text was kind of...awkward. "A-and what's your name?" She asked meekly, gesturing to him with her other hand. Even though she asked in Japanese, she hoped that the context of their conversation, her tone, and gesture would make it obvious enough what she said. The girl took his phone and had started typing it out onto the screen. He was relieved to see that she hadn't gotten hurt and that she was still able to move without much pain or anything. When she handed back his phone and bowed he read the message. He sighed as he read that she was alright and that it seemed his little stunt had helped out. The poor girl was sorry that she was laughing, but really who wouldn't laugh at what had happened. It wasn't like she did it maliciously or anything, funny things just happen. Taking his phone again she typed up another message, relating to the bags of things she had so that she could build something up. So she was an inventor of sorts, he wouldn't have guessed it from her looks but looks could be deceiving. After all for as dainty as she looked she managed to scare away those thugs. Her name was Juba, well that really was a cute name. It had a bouncy childish ring to it, but he only knew those descriptors in English. So he'd just have to wait until he gained a foothold on the language. "Gale" He sade making a wavy mention with his hand. "Like the wind, woosh~" He felt like he was talking with a kid, but it was fun and took the edge off the recent events. His nosebleed seemed to finally stop flowing as hestopped pinching his nose, rubbing what lefrover blood on the sleeve of his shirt. It wasn't the best way to clean it off, but it would have to do right now. With his fingers and face cleaner than before he typed out another message as he reached for one of his bags. Taking out a few bits of machinery he typed out another message while speaking in English. "I'm a bit of a gadgeteer too you know?" After he finished typing his message he showed Juba his phone. [I like to invest things too. I just came from the store to make a Christmas Gift. I even made this hoverboard here... but I'm still learning how to use it as you saw.] He pointed to his hoverboard that he had tucked under his arm. Clicking a switch and making it float in the air for a few seconds before it floated back down into Gale's lap. He hoped the little display would calm down the young lady, tears should only come from joy, not sorrow, if it could be helped. Typing out a new message he sounded out his own words in English with each click. "How... long... have... you... inventing... for...? And click!" He showed Juba his phone seemingly calm and chipper despite all the stuff he had been through. Perhaps even offering it for hopes that she might reply. [How long have you been inventing for?] |

It made her happy that the boy seemed to understand what she typed to him. He looked shaken up, but aside from the slight bloody nose he was fine. "A-are you okay?" She asked quietly, reaching out as if she could help in some way. It worried her that he got hurt on her account, for trying to intervene. She stopped when he wiped his nose on his sleeve, however, then realized he probably didn't even know what she said. An idea popped up in her head at this, and she fished her pink phone out of her pocket. It had a few little charms on it, one of which was a cartoon rabbit and the other was the symbol of Scarlet Rose, the net idol, whose music she frequently enjoyed. Her fingers then tapped away at the phone and turned her device once the message was finished. [Gale? It is nice to meet you. You like to invent?! Who is the gift for? What are you making them? How did you make that hoverboard? Oh, sorry if that's too many questions...] Juba shrank back slightly, turning red as she realized that she was assaulting him with questions via text. It was so interesting though! Another inventor? As she began to feel more sheepish for her forward, excited questioning, Juba perked up at seeing Gale speaking aloud as she typed something. She saw the message, then had to think for a moment. The girl hummed to herself thoughtfully as she wrote her reply, then displayed it for him to see. [When I decided I wanted to be a hero. Maybe only two or three years? I am not strong, so I have to use other things to help me. U.A. gave me money to buy what I need, I just have to make it and give it to the Design Office for approval...because I'm not certified...] Juba tried to explain, hoping this wasn't too much information at once. It looked odd for a girl like her to be carrying so much supplies, so she felt like she had to justify it somehow. It also felt weird to tell this stranger about her dream, but he had asked how long she had been inventing for, and this dream is what prompted her to take up tinkering in the first place. She continued to blush, looking down slightly toward the ground as she waited for a reply. Edited by Blasty McSplode, Oct 1 2016, 06:34 AM.

She had said something, reaching out to touch him probably. But instead she reached out to phone and then began typing out on her own phone. A rather cute phone with a small little cartoon rabbit and some person that he couldn't really say he'd ever seen. But Japan was full of idols and people who no doubt had some sway over people. She had shown her a message on her phone that had a numerous amount of questions for him. He didn't mind really, especially since he was usually the talkative one in a conversation, so he liked talking about himself, or just talking in general if the situation allowed for it. He had already begun to type out a response to Juba's text. The clicking of his phone and showing it off kind of reminded him of the conversations that he and Shiori had when they first met. Though the awkward conditions of that first meeting weren't nearly as bad as this one could've been. [It's fine, I don't mind answering. So I do like to invent things, my dad says that I've been doing it ever since I could pick up a toy hammer. Which I don't really know if that's true or not but it's fun to imaigne that as a baby I was hammering away at things. As for the gift, it's for my girlfriend. It's a bit of a secret but... it's a three part gift. But I can tell you that the first part is going to be a little-mechanized fighter plane. I made th hoverboard while I was in Hawaii, it was meant to be a gift for someone I met there but things didn't work out. So I figured that I'd keep it. It's powered by a mix of turbines and magnets, usually the wind just blows through the bottom and puts enough pressure to float. Which is a lot of work, but the alternative method is to kind of use magnets by constantly switching on and off the fields, like dropping and picking up something. If that makes any sense.] His fingers were starting to feel cramped as he finished the message but he hoped that it would please the girl nad make her a little bit happier. Reading the next message he had to think about what his next words ought to be. She seemed so meek and unsure of herself, and yet at the same time clearly showed some drive to make herself better. He but on an inquisitive look on his face as he typed out another message for her to see. [I get you, I'm not really that strong either but I applied to U.A. to try and get my name out there.] He pointed to his eyes. Which seemed to flow slightly blue for a moment. [My quirk's not all that good for fighting... I think. But if I can help other people by inventing things that will make their lives better that makes me a hero too right? Someday I imagine the whole world will be using my stuff.] A cheeky grin grew on his face as the thought danced in his head. Though it hit him only after that text that the girl got money from U.A. which mean more or less that she was probably going to be there too. [Wait! You're going to U.A. as well!? That's... that's great!] He outgoing personality seemed enamoured with the idea of finding a fellow classmate. The smile didn't' disappear as he rapidly continued texting. [So what was it like!? The exam I mean. My girlfriend took it too! What class are you in?] The questions were bombarded back onto the poor girl as Gale's fascination in her blew up upon hering that small little detail. |

![]() Candidate Numero Duo was yet another familiar face on the Kirin's list, one out of two that he recognised. Ah, thank God for the smallness of the universe. The web of intringue doesn't need to spread very far if you had a good starting point, doesn't it? However, it didn't go to say that it wasn't a long shot when it came to locating this person. Sure, Ran had noted down the popular routes commonly taken by UA students when he'd been tracking Fergus, nor had he neglected to at least keep tabs on the other targets in the list whilst he'd been tailing the big fellow; but it didn't make it anything short of a lucky draw to find his charge-in-reserve just happening to be wandering around town at this hour, and then yet a secondary draw to have to just happen to encounter him around town. But, cup half-empty, cup half-full; Arai's day- days, multiple, if you considered all the fucking time he had put into reconnaissance- had been filled to the brim with shortcomings, bad draws of the luck, short straws and ill chance. With everything going wrong left and right- it stood to reason that karma might have one little boon at the end of Pandora's Box in store for him. The dark-haired man had been scouring town half of a half dozen hours, and then some more. Rather than bothering with the streets, with their crowds, traffic and silly signals, the former mercnary had opted to take to the roofs instead. The town districts were filled with small buildings within reach of each other; if one dared to make the jump in between. It may not be much more than a meter and half wide in between, but the fall was definitely several times that. Still, it was an efficient method to cover ground and observe the streets below from a vantage point, if you knew the layout of the nearby blocks well enough to navigate them. While Arai Ran lacked the stamina to sprint about leaping from roof to roof, he did traverse them at a brisk walking pace, just a couple of steps behind becoming a jog. That worked out, either way; he could choose his jumps carefully, taking care not to slip and take the long plunge, while scanning the streets below with more scrutinity. If one paid attention, there were surprisingly a large amount of handholds to get around; from stairwells to fire escapes, plumbing to ventilation- scouring the ridges wasn't that difficult once you got the hang of it. And finally, the end of the rainbow loomed in sight; after maybe his thirteenth incursion around the laid route he'd planned to cover as much of the common hotspots as he could, Arai Ran finally struck gold; the familiar face of the one he'd been seeking was finally identified at a cross-junction at an alley across a rubber-chicken gag joke shop. ...It also helped there had been a tiny commotion involving... rubber punching gloves... and a couple of delinquents fleeing the alley? Well. Whatever. The kid looked exactly as he last set eyes on him, in another country altogether. He wore a gaudy shirt, hippy-ish headband, and baggy dark pants. Well; he did sport the signs of a nosebleed, so that was new, but otherwise... it was exactly as he remembered. So here goes nothing. Ran didn't want to lose his mark then he had been lucky enough to chance upon; without thinking twice, he aimed for something to cushion his fall as he leapt off the edge of the building three storeys up. And that was how Gale Prism and Arai Ran had their second run-in; with the latter falling from the sky right into a dumpster. Shoving away a stray banana peels and some open cans from his body, he got up, clambered out of the dumpster, and picked himself up. Ran brushed himself off, facing the young boy once again. Of course, there was the language barrier once again, but this time Ran had come prepared, having studied beforehand. Movies, that is. In a near-perfect imitation, complete with the thick trademark Austrian accent, he strode forward, stopping before Gale, and extended his hand boldly. "Come with me if you want to live." The sound of something crashing loudly made Gale jump off the ground like a startled animal as he watched as some strange man crawled out of it after slightly cleaning themselves off of rubbage and banana peels. Though upon further inspection the guy seemed familiar. he tapped his temple as he tried to recall. The fact his hoverboard rubbed against his armpit seemed to remind him for a moment as to who the man was. "Ah, you're that guy from Hawaii! I didn't think I'd see you again after what happened there." He looked at the familiar hand. He really only understood the words he had said as being from some movie. Was he really asking for him to follow him somewhere? And what was with all that falling from the sky business. Though he knew that he probably wouldn't understand a word he said. After all if he recalled correctly the guy didn't speak much English. Man he really needed to learn the language and fast if he was going to get anywhere in this place. Looking at Juba and then typing into his phone as he created a response to the rather funny quote. After clicking a button a metallic sound had echoed through the speakers of his phone. "[Don't scare me like that! You nearly gave me a heart attack!]" He was slightly irked that he literally had fell from the sky and had interrupted the pleasant, albeit phone required, conversations he was having with cute little Juba. He had ot be careful, after all he was the reason more or less why Kaulana had left them in the first place. What with some accent problem or having a hard to understand language. No, he was gonna stand up for himself this one time! He wasn't going to let him interrupt another good meeting. He typed onto his phone before clicking onto a button once more, a metallic sound reverberated through the air as he defiantly stood in place. "[Sorry, but I'm kind of busy right now. Can this wait until later. I'm with someone right now.]" He turned away from Arai and smiled back to give his attention to Juba. Seemingly brushing him off to keep his conversation with Juba going smoothy. |

The Delinquent

Gale had typed out a mini-essay as a response, not something she had been expecting. It was nice to get to know him better though, especially if he was a fellow inventor. The boy was right, it was fun to imagine this baby kid with long hair who happily hammered away at things with his toy. She tried to suppress it, but she let out a muffled giggle at the thought of it. "Ehyehehe~" Apparently he had a girlfriend and he was going to make her a...mechanized fighter plane for Christmas? She looked at him with a confused tilt of her head, assuming the translator must be off. I mean, yes he was a tinkerer like her, but a mechanized fighter plane? Wasn't that a bit odd and overkill? And he made that hoverboard while in Hawaii?! This boy was just too interesting. She nodded thoughtfully at his explanation of how it worked. Some of it was perhaps a tad too complex for her, but she understood the general theory of how it worked. It was nice that Gale could empathize with her. This made the girl smile softly, but then it became a more surprised expression when he mentioned the same academy she was going to be attending. Before she could answer anything about how the exam was and what class she was in, however, she was interrupted by the sound of something falling into a dumpster within the alleyway. It startled her, causing the petite girl to let out a little squeal before jumping into the air and into Gale's arms. She smiled sheepishly again, red painting across her face as she eased herself back to the ground and then moved behind him. She gripped his arm, poking her head around him to look at the young man emerging from the dumpster. He had been covered in garbage and a banana peel for a moment, but shook it off and approached them. There was something about the discarded banana peel that screamed at her toon half, but she ignored it for now. Perhaps if she happened to walk by it she would have to slip on it just for fun, because everyone loves slapstick. The man was much older than them, at least in his 20's, and only said one thing to Gale in English. She knew some phrases, but not enough to know what he had just said as he extended his hand toward him. What did this older guy want to do with Gale? Apparently they knew each other though. Gale typed something and used the speakers to audibly translate what he put in his phone. The phone declared in Japanese that Gale had been surprised, but then said that he was busy and talking with someone right now, Juba assuming that someone was her. It was weird that he had fallen into and climbed out of a dumpster, then came offering his hand to her new found friend. Juba typed out a message on her own phone and showed it to Gale, then picked up her two bags and began inching backwards onto the streets of Tokyo behind them. They had been at the entrance of the alleyway, so Juba preferred it if they just left the alleyway entirely. She had voiced this opinion earlier, after the scary experience of dealing with those muggers, but now she definitely didn't want to be here. [I want to go home.] is what the text message displayed. |

"No." Arai Ran said simply. He took one step forward, and placed a firm hand on Gale's shoulder, preventing him from leaving. All things considered, well, it wasn't an unexpected reaction to a familiar but unwelcome face falling off into the nearest dumpster and spitting out movie lines, though he wished he could've milked a little more bang for the buck. He'd had an inkling the kid put his dick first, and other priorities later; and this situation was looking a lot like how he'd cockblocked him back in Aloha Land, 'cept same guy, different girl, and less sand and sea. Mostly he assumed Gale wouldn't want to have anything to do with him. Unfortunately for that, the problem was, Arai did have something he wanted of Gale; and one way or another he'd get it. Gale's opinion was rather secondary otherwise. So about that hand on the shoulder? Well, Arai had been working mostly part-time unlicensed work at construction sites since his discharge, manual labour which involved a lot of lifting and pulling. It was hard, punishing work, but a job was a job; plus, it helped him get back into shape. And after a hard day's work, his body aching, muscles filled with lactic acid, skin crisply burnt by a whole day of sun, Ran would have loved to do what most other people did; plop down onto his bed, crack open a beer can, and doze off to sleep with the ball game on TV playing as the background noise. But that was not what Arai did. Arai pumped iron. The former soldier was not at a hundred per cent yet, but it was safe to say that there were iron vices out there that had a weaker grip force than him. Ran held Gale steady, ensuring his inability to flee, or free himself easily, fingers digging just enough to hurt him just a little. Arai Ran jerked the boy around to slightly face him, with a movement reminscent of a toddler playing with an action figure. His features entirely placid, Ran said the following lines of English right into the youth's face. "I'm gonna make you an offer you can't refuse." |

Gale nearly toppled over when Juba had jumped into his arms after all this man wasn't exactly the strongest thing in the world and he had just hit himself in the face with his overboard earlier. But lucky for him Juba wasn't all that heavy for the lad and he carefully let her down before she cowered behind him. Secretly he wanted to to do the same but Juba probably wouldn't be the best person to hide behind back, heck Shiori would probably be a better fit for that description. Reading Juba's test he nodded in agreement, it was a bit off for Arai to just plop in the middle of nowhere and then ask something of him. Besides, the poor girl was frightened now and he had a responsibility to see her home safely after being nearly assaulted by those things earlier. But before he could follow Juba he felt a firm hand on his shoulder. "Ack! What gives!?" He cried as he found the overwhelming power from Arai to be keeping him from taking another step forward. "That hurts! Let go man!" His arms flailed about as he made a desperate cry for help as he dug his fingers into his shoulder. The sudden jerk disoriented him as he now found himself face to face with the man who was holding him against his will. Sweat starting rolling down the poor Brit's face, this was all too familiar. Help a girl, get into some nasty situation that could possibly lead to him getting his life in danger. His cheek had started to itch as the stress had begun to irritate the scab that was finally starting to heal there. He wanted to run, he wanted to just get away from this all, heck even if it meant restarting the day and ever having met Juba again. It may have been cold thought to others but the Brit was getting tired of constantly getting into situations due to chivalry and kindness. And yet time and time again the world had found a way to screw him over for just trying to be a good citizen, even if it was something that happened entirely by accident. This time, though, it decided to rear it's ugly head with someone who he thought was at least of a decent character, even if he was a cockblocker. Or was this about the situation that happened with those two criminals? That attack dog and her master. Maybe this was just a misunderstanding. "I-Is this about the thing at the warehouse? You can tell Apollo and his mad dog that I didn't tell a word! Honest to goodness..." He put one hand in the air as his other arm still had his hoverboard tucked underneath his armpit. His body was shaking with fear as he tried to explain himself. "...You didn't understand a word I said. Here let me... explain..." He slowly began typing into his phone. Though he wasn't planning to give him a message quickly completely. [Need help. Guy attacking. Here's location.] calling the number for emergency help was probably a bad idea right in front of Arai, so he had to do the next best thing was to text Shiori in hopes that she could get over here in the leat amount of time. It was safe to assume if the guy couldn't understand English he couldn't read it either so it was safe to send that little message before typing a completely new one. Pressing the button on his phone he placed his hands up in an attempt to make it seem as though he didn't mean any harm. The metallic voice echoing out to Arai. "[You wouldn't really want to do anything while we're this close to the streets would you? And besides, that adorable young lady over there is bound to call for help if you try anything... come on. Just let go of me and we can all go about our ways huh?]" He needed to stall for time or convince him that he needed to just buzz off. His eyes changed from orange to blue as he tried to ascertain what kind of quirk his assailant might have. But the results turned out to be... well... null. Meaning that more or less the guy was quirkiness. Still, that didn't make him any less scary right now. He didn't know Arai completely but surely the man wouldn't try anything in plain daylight right by the streets, right? After the message played he put his hand behind his back silently signaling numbers and hoping that she could understand. 1...1...0 1...1...0 Tech's & LP

No? Out of what little English Juba did know, "no" was certainly in her vocabulary. The man's hand gripped Gale's shoulder and forcibly turned him around, causing Juba to let out another surprised gasp. She had seen him reach out, but she hadn't expected this man to be so aggressive. Yes, she was wary of him due to his odd arrival, but since the two had seemed to know each other, she thought it was safe to assume they were friendly. After hearing Gale cry out in pain, any previous assumptions were cast aside. Her new friend was being hurt and Juba could even feel him beginning to shake from fear as she held onto his arm. He began to speak English, and while she once again didn't understand a word of it, she could hear the panic and shakiness in his tone. If the emotion he displayed wasn't enough, Gale had typed something out on his phone and played the audio in Japanese. H-He was implying the guy was going to attack them? Based on this man hurting Gale and not allowing him to leave, it wasn't far-fetched. That being said, they were so close to the street and in broad daylight. Was he so powerful that he didn't care? This thought made Juba shiver, and even though her body wanted to run away, she planted her feet firmly in the ground. Well, not that firmly. Her legs were comically shaking out of fear, but she was doing her best to be brave. Gale had decided to help poor Juba when she was confronted by the thugs minutes ago, and now here he was getting harassed because of it. If he had never helped her in the first place...maybe he wouldn't even be in this situation. One main thought went through her head at this point. I won't let him regret helping me. "Stop hurting my friend!" She cried out fiercely and anxiously, probably the loudest she had ever raised her voice, at least in recent memory. Juba was so used to being soft-spoken and meek that she almost didn't recognize her own voice. Juba began blowing into each of her biceps, inflating them almost as if they were balloons. After a moment, both of her arms were now over-sized, appearing to fit someone like a massive bodybuilder, rather than some scrawny girl. She then went for an uppercut punch toward the aggressor's chest as she grabbed onto her friend's left arm as well, trying to get the creep away from Gale. Technique Used & LP
