The Delinquent

The fridge was getting pitifully barren at home, and with her parents both too busy with work this evening, so she opted to go out and buy something easy for herself. Normally the 7/11 wasn't her first choice in places to grab food, but it was relatively cheap and quick. The sooner she could return to the comfort of her home and begin drawing her comic once more, the better. She had just been getting to a good part of her new series, Panda Detective, when the grumbling of her stomach halted her workflow. She now found herself walking the streets of Tokyo, hugging her sketchbook close to her chest and with a pink purse hanging from her shoulder. Even if she had to go on this little excursion for food, she still brought her sketchbook along nonetheless. Inspiration could hit at anytime, and this petite artist never wanted to miss that chance. For example, she would never have started the Panda Detective series if not for her random meeting with Beru and her adorable little panda cub Xiao Xiao. People watching was a past-time of hers, though she never would've imagined who she would meet by just going to a 7/11. Juba arrived at the convenience store and began browsing for what to buy, going down one of the aisles that had full meals for sale. She was unsure of what she wanted, although the bento boxes were sort of calling her name as she glanced at the wall of food. Juba reached out to pick something, but each time she almost decided, she pulled back her hand and quietly hummed in thought to herself, then reached out for something else. This repeated multiple times before Juba suddenly realized there was someone else nearby also browsing the same aisle. "O-oh, I'm so sorry if I'm in your way, I'll just-" She timidly looked over to the woman beside her as she backed up a step, then froze in place. Her eyes looked the individual up and down, though she didn't believe it at first. Scarlet Rose, the net music idol, was just standing there, apparently looking for food to buy as well. Juba was at a loss for words, opening her mouth to say more, but nothing coming out. That was at least better than how she was feeling inside, in which her heart was racing a mile a minute. She had randomly come across someone she admired and respected, someone who was probably used to fans bothering her all the time. It was conflicting, because Juba didn't want to just be another annoying fan, but...could she also really just pass up this moment? Wave goodbye to it and not feel regret later? She took another nervous step back, her body yelling for her to just run away. And yet she couldn't. Ever since the Entrance Exam, Juba had been doing her best to be more brave, which in her case, simply meant being more confident in social situations. With this in mind, Juba bowed before her idol, holding out her sketchbook and a pen. "I-I'm so sorry if I'm being a bother, but please, if you would...can you sign my book?!" She asked, accidentally being louder than she had intended in her attempt to be courageous. Juba bit her bottom lip after saying this, continuing to keep her head bowed as she waited with baited breath for a response. The sheepish girl felted like she wanted to cry out of pure anxiety, but she did her best to keep it in. |

Ahaaa... she was only twenty two but already she felt like she was getting way to old for all of this. Sitting down all day on a chair talking... no more like moaning into a microphone was murder on your back. None of this was helped by the fact that her neck felt sore and her shoulders were always tense from carrying around the added weight that her quirk imposed on her head. Most people's hair wasn't weighed in pounds after all. She had walked into a 7/11 Konbini on her route home from work with the vague notion of picking up some aspirins. Her head hadn't been on food at all when she walked in, but seeing rows upon rows of boxed dinners lining one of the walls of the store she stopped to have a look. Back at home her family had a personal chef to prepare meals and she had attended a luxurious private school where food similarly had not come out of ready to reheat plastic containers. She was familiar of course with the sight of it, she had worked on plenty of productions that included a scene or two that took place in a store like this.but seeing it animated on a TV screen was quite a disconnect from standing in the sort of store where the normal working class ate. She ran her hand across the small price tag attached underneath one of the more luxurious offerings the store presented it's customers with. Was that price tag right? Food was way more expensive then this wasn't it? Her internal murmurings over the quaintness of the working classes life were disturbed by someone bumping into her. A really small and timid someone at that. Chiharu wasn't exactly tall for a fully grown adult, the fact she could pass for a 16 year old was part of her idol image actually. Being able to look down on someone else was a bit of a novelty for her too. The girl's voice was almost as small as her appearance. This was the sort of Moe that her fans enjoyed wasn't it? She was about to say that it didn't matter to her all that much when she noticed the girl she had bumped into seemed stumped by something. She had dressed for a normal day at work. When she was just sitting down behind the microphone and reciting lines she had no need to dress as extravagantly as she normally did. In fact her current attire was quite a disconnect from her normal over the top and childlike dress appeal. Clad in a grey woman's suit with a light pin stripe, a white blouse and a dark purple scarf she didn't look much like her normal Idol self. Adding the pantyhose, pumps and a pair of normal black rimmed glasses made her seem even more like a regular office lady. Of course there was no hiding her extravagant and very peculiar mane of red hair. Even now those speaker like bulbs and the audio cables hanging in between her scarlet locks were hard to miss. It then did not take very long for her to figure out that the young girl had most likely recognised her. It was quite exciting. She didn't normally meet her fans out on the street like this. She had a very specific sort of appeal and this small and adorable little redhead certainly fell well outside the normal demographic of her audience. A small part of her was quite curious which part of her career this girl was familiar with. She didn't seem the type to be into Eroge but then she didn't see the type of girl that would be a fan of Scarlet Rose to begin with. She had a bunch of questions she really wanted to ask, but for a fan she had a responsibility to act in a certain expected way. She put her hand in her side and gave her a stern look as she clacked her tongue and took the sketchbook. "Tch, You have a lot of nerve bumping into the great me like this and then having the audacity to ask for an autograph. Well, It can't be helped, It's not everyday you get to meet me after all." She opened up the sketchbook and pulled a pen out of her breast pocket. She was about to sign her autograph when she happened to glance across the drawing she had opened the book to. She gave a casual and disinterested grunted as she flipped through it, seemingly disgruntled that she had to look for an empty space to sign. In truth she was looking over the sketches and was quite impressed by what she was seeing. She didn't have to much time to look as she didn't want to seem to interested. That wouldn't fit within the expectations the girl had of her. She signed her name with a dramatic flourish before she closed the sketchbook the sketchbook. She really wanted to have a closer look, but she couldn't let down a fan either. If this didn't look like a bother to her what was she going to think? She pushed up her glasses with an irritated sort of look on her face, mostly to get a moment to look over the girl and remember her. Wait... hang on. She had just spotted the girls phone hanging from a strap on her bag... She shoved the sketchbook back in Juba's hands as she reached for the phone at the same time and unhooked it with a rather deft hand.. "Tch, Don't think l enjoy being bothered in the middle of the konbini to sign your sketchbook or anything. Here, smile." She pressed the camera button to circumvent having to know the girls unlock code, put an arm around her shoulders and took a picture of the two of them together while doing her best to look disgruntled and awkward in the picture. She quickly forwarded it to her corporate email before handing the girl back her phone with an exasperated sounding harumph. Edited by Tenka Mikazuchi, Sep 20 2016, 05:37 AM.

Juba finally stopped biting her lip and looked up with a elated expression at being addressed by the net idol and had her sketchbook taken. She had always loved the music she produced, as well as some of her voice work. There was also the tsundere personality she was known for, which was endearingly cartoonish, which Juba could appreciate. Nobody in real life acted that much like the trope, and yet here she was in the flesh, and she was talking exactly like she does in her videos and interviews. It kind of made her giddy, eliciting a goofy "ehyehehehe~" laugh that Juba quickly tried to stifle as she stood up to her full height (which wasn't very tall). After taking a breath to keep her laughter contained, she held both her hands down by her waist and swayed side to side sheepishly. "You're right, um, thank you so much for taking the time, I didn't mean to be too forward. If I was I'm sorry. I was too forward, wasn't I? I'm sorry..." She meekly tried to speak to the fellow redhead, only to end up muttering half of what she said. It was a bit nerve wracking too, to see Scarlet Rose flipping through all the pages of her art. It would have comics starring a wacky and zany character named Juju that looked eerily similar to Juba, a noire-esque comic called Panda Detective with the hard-boiled (yet cute) detective always having to save his blonde secretary, and then of course random sketches Juba would have of people she ran into throughout the day or other impromptu drawing ideas. The idol didn't appear to have much interest in the drawings, however, since she was annoyed to have to find a blank page herself. "Oh, I should have flipped to a blank one myself, I'm sorry you don't have to..." Juba was about to reach out and try to do it herself, but it seemed like Scarlet had already found a blank one, since she began signing her name. Had she really gone and just been a nuisance to someone she looked up to? This idol always acted disgruntled and annoyed, but was she acting even more so now because she was more disappointed than usual? Before Juba had a chance to wallow in this train of thought, it was interrupted by the act of having her sketchbook thrust back into her dainty arms and having her phone taken. Scarlet Rose spoke before she could even question it, explaining in her characteristically tsundere way. "O-okay!" She exclaimed, surprised by this sudden surprised. She was going to get a photo with her idol! It made her so excited inside that she wanted to burst, but she also felt an overwhelming sense of nervousness. This was a one-in-a-lifetime chance! She had to make sure it was a good photo. Juba looked up at the phone's camera as the idol pointed it toward them, a shy smile upon her face as she leaned in slightly toward the taller woman. While Juba did indeed look apprehensive, the smile was also genuine. She was glad to have gotten this opportunity to brush with fame, though she wished it would last longer. Despite this wish, she knew it would be selfish to waste anymore of this popular, busy idol's time. There was at least one more thing she had to say though. The petite girl took a step away from her after the photo was taken, then bowed slightly. Not nearly as low as when she had first encountered Scarlet Rose, but just enough to be respectful. "I just wanted to say...thank you for your music. Listening to it helps me concentrate when I'm drawing, so um...sometimes it feels like you're there cheering me on, you know? That sounds stupid and silly, I'm sorry..." Juba shrank into herself a bit as she clutched her sketchbook tightly to her chest, feeling embarrassed. She couldn't run away quite yet, however, since the idol still had her cutesy phone in her hand. "Oh I also like some of the games you voiced in too..." |

"Taking the time to talk to you is it?" She let out a honing chuckle. It was a little Ironic that despite her so outwardly annoyed demeanour, Chiharu was probably enjoying this whole thing as much as Juba was. It wasn't that she never met with fans. She had done her fair share of Con visits, meet and greets and signing sessions to promote herself and her career. Even so it was pretty rare to meet a fan this adorable amongst those who were into her work. It was true that her singing did appeal to a minority of girl's as well but most of her fan base were guys of her age and older who were into the whole crabby little girl angle. Heck she even met a few guys younger then her who genuinely were under the impression she was their junior. Though she appreciated all of her fans for their support, most of them were really not interested in meeting her as a person. Perverts and lolicons were expected hazards of her line of work but nobody ever said she had to actually enjoy being accosted by 20+ year old virgins salivating over a character she had just lend her voice too. It was pretty hard to be seen as just the characters you played sometimes. Fans like Juba who appreciated her as an artist rather then as a role were a lot easier and honestly more easy to relate too. She sighed softly, even that though was ultimately just a role she played. Even this cute little thing was this excited over meeting Scarlet Rose, not Himura Chiharu. She covered up her longing sigh as one of annoyance and gave Juba a scrutinising look. "I am not so ungrateful that I would just ignore a fan who has supported me all this time you know. That aside though, I am surprised you recognised me in this disguise. Well it's obviously because the radiance of my great self just can't be hidden by these stuffy clothes." Well... It wasn't actually a disguise. Chiharu just hadn't counted on meeting any fans on her way home. Her Co-workers understood the concept of a stage personality just fine so when she was just doing voice work she took the chance to dress like the adult she was. With a fan though, she obviously had to be careful not to disillusion their expectations. Chiharu was way more boring then the ever energetic and standoffish Scarlet Rose had any right to be after all. Still.. this girl was being meek and apologetic to the point where she was beginning to wonder if she overdid the act a little bit. She was barely able to hear half of the things the little redhead was saying. Was she just that star struck or had she maybe said a bit to much herself. It actually made her feel a little self conscious as she looked for a way to lighten the mood. Ahh, a joke would be good right now wouldn't it? She took of her glasses and folded them up. She pointed the pair of glasses towards Juba and closed her right eye in a display of casual scrutiny. "Looks like these are useless too. I knew that Kent guy was full off shit when he said these would hide your identity without fail." Stuffing the glasses in the breast pocket of her blazer, she really hoped he hadn't upset the little redhead to much. With her glasses off though, it was much easier to notice the small blush that had formed on her cheeks. Nobody had ever gone quite so far as to say her music inspired them. She really wanted to tell the girl her drawings were really good and that she was glad she could mean something actually positive in peoples lives. But she had really good hearing too. She wasn't sure if it was because of her quirk or her if her love of music fostered that particular ability as a result but whichever it was... the last thing the cute and rather innocent looking girl had said had not escaped her notice either. So she did know about those parts of her career too huh? She had assumed his girl was younger then her but if she was able to buy those sorts of games she must be older then she looked. Well.. her own career was pretty much based on looking way younger then she was too. She supposed someone's appearance really was a horrible indicator of how old someone actually was. She looked away from the girl towards the rows of food. An overactive imagination was great in her line of work but sometimes, at times like these, she really wished she wasn't imagining just how this girl played those kinds games. She let out a cough, playing tough as though the praise didn't mean anything to her even though the blush betrayed that she was not left untouched by the girls feelings about her music. But even that fell into the expected behaviour of the image she portrayed. She really found herself wanting to keep talking to this random stranger she just met. She didn't really meet many people around her own age who shared her own interests. A soft rumbling sound interrupted her musings. She wasn't hungry when she stepped into the store but staring at food for this long had awoken the sleeping tiger in her stomach and it was roaring to be satiated now. "Well, you should be sorry for wasting my precious time, but I'll forgive you this time. Instead I'll have you pay me with your body." Ohh god, she really hoped that didn't come out he way she sounded to herself! Stupid. Hyperactive. Imagination! Coughing once to clear her throat she Looked back towards Juba and pulled out her wallet. As she held it out towards the girl she hastily added a clarification. "Here! Your commoner Foodstuffs and money are confusing to me, pick out something tasty so we can eat!" Edited by Tenka Mikazuchi, Sep 20 2016, 03:55 PM.

"You're so right. In fact, I tend to have a habit of forgetting cute faces, but in your case I'd be glad to make an exception." Juba suddenly blurted out with a sly grin and a few chuckles that she immediately tried to repress. "Ehyehehehe~Oh I'm sorry, that was, um, uncalled for." Juba apologized through her sketchbook that she had up to her mouth currently. The more her idol spoke, the harder she found it to stifle her more "eccentric" side. There were just so many opportunities for jokes and it was as if Scarlet was just putting them on a silver platter. If she didn't keep it under control, then surely she would embarrass herself even further in front of her idol. She couldn't imagine a worse fate! Things just weren't going her way though, because as Juba tried to focus on remaining calm, Scarlet Rose removed her glasses, scrutinized them, then made a joke about how Clark Kent and his disguise was full of shit. The unexpected use of a vulgar word and perfect reference made Juba burst out laughing again, despite the sketchbook being held so close to her mouth. "Ehhhyehehehe~" The laugh was feminine, but certainly not suitable for someone so small and timid. Silly and goofy would be two adjectives that come to mind. Her normally large, bright pupils began to dilate and focus, which was another telltale sign of her cartoonish nature manifesting itself. While Juba always did her best to suppress it, there was something liberating whenever it took over. Her sketchbook was now being held against her side by one hand, allowing Scarlet Rose to see her wide, mischievous grin. "Instead I'll have you pay me with your body." At hearing this, Juba's upper-body elongated from her waist and snaked behind Scarlet, so that she was now peering at her idol at eye level from the other side. "Oh I'm much too young for that, so you'll have to settle for a smooch." Juba claimed lewdly, before planting a loud, wet kiss upon Scarlet's cheek. She then noticed the wallet that her idol was trying to show her and remembered the previous sentence she had said before Juba got too caught up in her antics to notice. "Here! Your commoner Foodstuffs and money are confusing to me, pick out something tasty so we can eat!" She realized the mistake she had made, that the woman was just trying to get her to help her pick something to eat. Juba blinked a couple times, then recoiled back to her body and stood with her usual meek stance. She felt ashamed and almost humiliated after being so weird and disrespectful of her personal space. "I um...I like these two. The pork steam buns and noodles are really tasty..." She said quietly, pointing to the ones she recommended. She didn't know what else to say, assuming more apologies would be useless by this point. There was the ever popular "run and never look back" tactic of hers that she could utilize right about now, but there was still a minor issue. "I would run away but you still have my phone..." There was something just a little bit off with that audacious response. Maybe it was because she wasn't expecting it from the shy seeming little girl or maybe it was that she herself seemed to find her outburst embarrassing. Well it was not like she had not already caught a glimpse that the old addage was very true in this case. This girl WAS hiding some rather large abysses underneath that quiet and soft spoken exterior. It was quite amusing, perhaps even endearing to watch Juba try and gloss over her outburst with that apologetic look on her face, only to have her fall into what could only be called a boisterous laugh at the quip Chiharu had made about her glasses. It was nice to hear her laugh like that, honestly, sincerely. It put her at ease that she had not scared of the young fan by going to far in her character act. Unfortunately it seemed that Juba wasn't ready or able to let her awkward phrasing go. She knew the words 'pay with your body' could easily be taken the wrong way and they were. In the absolutely worst way. However Juba wasn't the only one who's quirk sometimes had a mind of its own. The micro usb connector hanging besides Chiharu's cheek in place of a strand of her scarlet hair snaked it's way down into her pocket and found the comfortable home of her own phone. When Juba displayed the full awkward extend of her quirk the screen in her pocket showed that the mp3 player had activated. Chiharu herself was perplexed at the awkward contours the little girls body stretched itself into and responded with only a gasp. However from the speaker pods in her hair thundered a dramatic accompaniment to the action.
But that was not where their mutual embarrassment ended. As Chiharu fumbled around in her pockets to find and silence her own phone, a thick wet smooch of a kiss was planted on her cheek accompanied by a very risqué line. If Juba's own outburst was not enough to bring a crimson tinge to Chiharu's cheek then of course the mp3 in her play list had to shuffle to the next song and make the whole situation SO. MUCH. WORSE.
With the smooth jazz playing in the background she almost wanted to sink through the floor. She finally pulled her phone out of her pocket and forcefully pulled out the usb cable to silence the music. The colour of her cheeks had gone so far into the red that they honoured her idol name in the most literal of fashions, Scarlet indeed. She was exasperated and couldn't even bear to look Juba in the eye as she suggested the pork buns and noodles. "Ahh.. t-that sounds nice. id give you your phone back but... if you run away now I'll be in trouble. I-I'll give it back after you pay for the food.." She scratched the side of her head as she said it. Maybe that was a bit to demure for her character? Well it couldn't be helped now. She just had to hope she wasn't the only one to flustered to manage exactly what she was saying. Edited by Tenka Mikazuchi, Sep 25 2016, 10:12 AM.

The little scene unfolding in this 7/11 was like something straight out of a cartoon. Not only was Juba acting wacky and using her quirk to mess with her idol, but there was the perfect background music and sound effects to go along with it. If she wasn't so embarrassed, she might've ventured to excitedly ask about how she did that and if she could play other songs, but the timid girl simply decided to suggest what they should buy. Apparently, her idol wasn't taking this much better either, because neither of them could look at each other and Juba could tell based on her tone of voice that something was wrong. She was speaking almost entirely different from how she had just moments ago. Thankfully, it seemed like Scarlet was willing to look passed the awkward occurrence, because didn't even make mention of the kiss that Juba had planted on her cheek. Apparently, she wasn't allowed to have her phone back yet though, at least not until after they pay for their food. Silently, Juba nodded in response, grabbed the two bento boxes, and walked over to the cashier. Despite her her embarrassment, the little redhead managed to look up at the man at the counter as she handed him the food so he could scan it. She wasn't expecting, however, to feel even more humiliated as the man stared at both her and Scarlet Rose with an almost horrified expression. He appeared to be at a loss for words and annoyed at the same time. After a moment he scanned both items, told them how much it would cost, then added one last thing. "After you two pay, could you...uh, leave? You're kind of weirding out my customers." He stated bluntly, gesturing over to a couple who had apparently been in the 7/11 as well, but were now rushing their way out while staring awkwardly at the two women. "O-oh, um, yes, so sorry, I didn't mean to scare anyone, I just...I couldn't..." Juba could feel tears welling up in her eyes, a familiar shame overcoming her. This was exactly why she tried to suppress her quirk so much. People often saw her as not only weird, but also creepy. She could feel their judging eyes, and now she was going to get thrown out of the store for it. Well, time to put this on the list of places I can never return... This is why she should've just gone with her gut and ran when she had the chance. Instead here she was, about to cry in front of both her idol and this man who probably thought she was crazy. I can always buy a new phone... |

Comments: Another short yet sweet and entertaining thread that would've likely been even funnier than it already was had classes not shown their ugly faces. All the same, it was entertaining and cute to see Juba's meek deamenor and then the toon side come out to make things worse. Scarlet having to keep up her persona and not being able to be genuinely happy (in the traditional sense) and inturn making this awkward with her music made me laught the first time I read it. *Play Romantic Music*. SO GOOD STUFF! ENJOY YER SPOILZ! |
