Keelo usually tried to get shifts on places one would expect at risk of a robbery, warehouses, banks, jewelers, etc. This evening, however, she was stuck cleaning a cosmestics botique. Clean Up and Dress Up was known for its expensive, name brand products, but it being a prime target for villains and goons? This certainly wasn't her first choice, but as demand in her company slowed, this was her only option, so here she was stationed, cleaning the gunk of trashed cosmetics in a crevice between the display cases. "Stuck in a safe neighboorhood at a place no one would be caught dead robbin'.." She sighed, tossing the towel she was using to clean aforementioned gunk back to her janitor's cart. "I know I shouldn't be complaining, but.. after that first run in with a real villain, I wanna do better." She looked back down at her once broken hand. It had fully healed, thankfully, but the way that fight ended, there was still noticable damage on her already weak ego. "Ah well, guess that means I just gotta train harder." She mused, pulling out her broom to sweep the main floor, keeping her thoughts silent for the duration of this task. It was peaceful, just as she'd expected and almost feared. Maybe she should just get used to these unnoteworhty shifts? Creeeeaaakk The subtle sound of a door opens, and in that moment, Keelo reconsiders her previous notiont to adjust to the benign. Flipping her broom around to a more combat ready position, she slowly backs up the steps to the second floor of the two story store. Keelo held her breath, focussing on her internal balance as a weak, white aura wisped around her body. She was going to wait and eavesdrop on what this possible intruder was doing first, hoping to get the drop on them, whoever they may be. |

12:00am Quinton was doing is nightly patrol outside of Hùong’s room. He had taken it upon himself to do this. His goddess had told him on multiple occasions that it was not necessary for him to “guard" her room, but he insisted. He didn’t have anything better to do at this time of night and besides, if it meant serving his goddess, he’d happily give up his own free time for her. He sat next to her door to take a break. Walking back and forth for hours can take a lot out of someone mentally. He rested his head on the wall and closed his eyes for just a second. He could hear Hùong oooing and ahhing in her room. He peeked in to see her browsing the internet at her desk. On the screen was a long line of different colored lipsticks. She clicked on a specific one by the name of Safe Word. It was a neutral pink color that would fit her lips perfectly. Quinton decided that once she went to bed, he would hunt down Safe Word and give it to her as an offering tomorrow. He imagined her praising him for being a devout follower. A much better follower than those other idiots who she kept around for some reason. The thought of their faces seeing him praised by Hùong made him chuckle. This is going to be perfect! 2:00am He arrived at the Clean Up and Dress Up store downtown. He had done some research and decided that this store had to have the item Hùong wanted. He placed his hand on the door handle and surprisingly it was still open. He debated on whether or not to go in. On one hand, someone might be inside the store still. If they saw him then they’d call the cops and that could prove to be a problem. On the other hand, the thought of Hùong’s smiling face when he gave her the lipstick was enough to make him throw away all his worries. He creaked open the door and peered in. The store appeared to be empty. “Weird. Unlocked and no alarm? Might be easier than I expected.” The store was packed wall to wall with cosmetics. Quinton had never been inside of a store like this. He was overwhelmed with all of the different types of products. Eventually he found his way to the wall of lipsticks. There must have been thousands. Thankfully they were in alphabetical order and he found the lipstick in no time. "This is it! The same color and everything! Goddess Hùong will be so pleased!" He sang. He took one and put it in his robe. He decided to take more, but there was no way he could carry them all. He went back to the front of the store to try and find a basket, but couldn’t. “Perhaps they’re on the next floor?” He knew that was strange, but it was worth checking. On his way up the stairs he saw a beautiful dark skinned girl. He would have been smitten with her if Hùong had not already stolen his heart. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? A secret shopper maybe? I only came for the lipstick, not your life. So if you let me leave peacefully no one has to get hurt, ok?” He smiled. He waited patiently for her response. If it came to it he would kill her in Hùong’s honor. A bonus to the lipstick gift. |

She wanted to attack just as he arrived, to bring justice down on this odd criminal, but as he approached her, Keelo was off-put by his calm demeanour and wild appearance. Not only was his outfit strange for a criminal, even for a potential supervillain, but his whole presence was creepy. Keelo didn't have time to react until Quinton was already asking her to stand down. She tried to take advantage of this. Keelo tried to shrug nonchalantly at this question, still holding her breath to keep her quirk going. She swung the broom over her back as she on the side of the stairs and past him. She was hoping to give off the impression that she was just a janitor. She doesn't get paid to deal with stuff like this so why bother? At this point, there were two things that could be a tell as to Keelo's true intentions. The first was the faint aura that trailed along her body due to her now fully activated quirk. The lights of the store obscured this, but if Quinton was especially on guard he could probably take note of it. The other possible giveaway was how she hadn't talked at this point, but something like that was probably only useful until it was too late. The first moment she was behind Quinton, Keelo broke the act. She turned around and dropped low, her leg swinging outward as she activated her technique, Swept Me Off My Feet (-10 LP), hoping that if it landed, she could end this before she'd end up in a compromising situation like her fight with Sabine. Keelo walked by Quinton without a single word. “Hmph. Good choice.” Quinton was pleased. Obviously she could see how powerful he was. He was one of Hùong's Illuminated after all. Perhaps her light shined just as brightly through him. He stepped forward only to be tripped up by Keelo. Quinton fell to the floor with a thud. He could’t help, but laugh. Keelo had been a fool to mess with the one and only priest of Hùong! She truly did not know how utterly stupid of a mistake she had just made. Quinton rose up from the cold linoleum floor. “You know, if you wanted to die that badly,” Quinton said facing his palms towards the ignorant custodian, “you could have just said so!” Quinton unleashed a chaotic river of colorful confetti from his hands towards Keelo’s body. Quinton cackled as the tiny pieces of paper surrounded her and caressed her skin with lethal intent. “Kishishishishishi! Do you surrender?!" Quinton knew that his cause was righteous and that Hùongs blessing would not fail him. There was no way he could lose to this pitiful excuse of a human being. Techs Used

LP: 15 +5% (5) ==> LP: 20 She was expecting retaliation, even possibly a quirk that could put her in some hot water, but just like his appearance, Quinton's power was out of left-field. His sharp confetti, while weak, left its mark as some shreds left tears in her clothing, a mild amount of blood leaking from several wounds inflicted by Quinton's attack. This left Keelo dazed for a slight moment as she felt herself being harmed by paper of all things, giving Quinton ample time to stand up and prepare for his defenses. Once she came back to her senses, she went back on the attack, taking this threat a bit more seriously than when he first came in. Gripping the broom tightly, the aura around her dimmed overall, but as she activated her technique, Under Pressure (-10 LP), her eyes seemed to shine with some quality as her fists grew in luminosity, a silent smirk creeping across her face. Keelo was ready. Dashing towards Quinton, Keelo pulled back with a feint punch before falling down into a slide on the side of her leg. Next, Keelo aimed a Precise Strike (-5 LP) at the interior of Quinton's knee as she slid under them, hoping that, if it hit, he'd have a hard time moving around with a possibly bruised joint. Hit or miss, Keelo would use the last of her momentum from the earlier slide to roll into an upright position and face Quinton once more, waiting for his next move before making any more herself, wary of her opponent's odd ability. Quinton clasped his hands together and bowed his head. “Thank you, Hùong for blessing me with this quirk. I shall use it for your will and your will alone. Praise be to the flame and may I walk by its glow.” He looked up to see a whisky white aura around his enemy. It was intimidating to say the least. It had to be a part of her quirk, but what exactly did it do? Before Quinton could figure it out, Keelo charged at Quinton. Anticipating a straight punch he guarded his face. His eyes closed waiting for the impact, but it never came. He opened his eyes and couldn’t find Keelo. He then felt a sharp pain in the back of his knee. His knees hit the floor. He quickly got up and turned around. It seemed Keelo was waiting for his next moving instead of pressing her advantage. She seemed quite clever in the art of combat. She might be tougher than I had anticipated. His knee gave out for a moment as he tried to hold himself up. It’d be harder for him to move now with a bruised joint. He needed to decided what to do next while he had the chance. He put his hands into his sleeves fiddling with the lipstick he had stolen only moments ago. Maybe I should just run with the one lipstick? The girl is powerful and I’d like to walk away without being permanently handicapped if possible… Quinton was torn. He was scared, but he also wanted Hùong to get what she wanted. What she deserved. Quinton clutched the lipstick tight and shook his head in disgust. What kind of follower would I be if I couldn’t complete this simple task for my goddess? Hùong deserves better. She must have at least a basket full! A fool I have been, but a fool I will be no more! Quinton dashed at Keelo the best he could throwing bits of paper into her eyes, so she wouldn’t be able to see his next attack coming. He then balled his right hand into a fist and tried to bury it into Keelo’s gut. He needed to get up stairs to get a basket. Keelo was merely an obstacle. Techs and LP

LP: 5 +20% (5) ==> LP: 10 Keelo paused as Quinton stood still, thinking over his decision. If he wanted to leave now, as she thought he might after seeing she came prepared. If he did, Keelo might just let him. He hasn't technically stolen anything yet, and he's only given her some deep paper cuts, something she doesn't have to go to great lengths to hide the reason for having them. This cautious trust would lead to Quinton's strategy to be a success, however, as her stance eased up just before his plan went into action. The flurry of colored paper nearly cut her eyes, but instead, Keelo was able to close her eyes in time, the confetti simply temporarily blinding her instead of doing serious damage. With this red-flag raised, Keelo braced for impact, barely holding her mouth closed as the punch to her stomach pushed against her diaphragm. Despite his successful onslaught, Keelo remained able and in the fight. She tried to wrap her arms painfully tight around Quinton, hoping his close proximity was what would let her pull this off. Even if she didn't succeed in that, she activated her technique, Clean Up On Aisle 3 (-10 LP) to get rid of the confetti in her face. If Quinton was caught in her grip, this technique would also help to force the air out of his form, a tight blast of pressure coming inward from her torso and her arms. Her next moved was to actually breath once more, a much-needed action to take after the last hit she took, even if her quirk dissipated shortly after oxygen filled her lungs once more. "Why are you stealing lipstick? Just buy in during the day! It's fucking makeup!" She yelled, getting fed up with Quinton's antics, punctuating the word lipstick with her knee trying to find purchase the one place he was probably most vulnerable, his family jewels. Quinton’s punch had little to no effect on Keelo. He retracted his arm before she could get a hold of it. He was blasted backwards as she stomped her foot. Unbelievable! How could she just be a simple janitor? This girl has the makings of one of a powerful follower of Hùong!… Hùong has enough followers come to think of it. I’m certainly more than enough. The rest of them can- Quinton’s thought was cut off when Keelo attacked. On pure instinct Quinton leapt into the air. Her knee barely scraped his ‘family jewels’. He landed with horrified look on his face. She’s not fucking around. I have to get out of here. “It’s none of your business! Also what the hell is that?” He said pointing to a distant corner of the room. He hoped Keelo would fall for it. Even for a split second while he made his way passed her and up the stairs. LP junk

LP: 0 + 20% (5 LP) ==> LP: 5 Keelo circled around Quinton until she found herself blocking the stairs. She knew he wanted to go up there, at least at first when Quinton had tried to pass her, and she wasn't going to let him go up there again, at least not easily. She held her 'weapon' in a firm stance, doing her best to keep distance between stance with the broom pointing in Quinton's direction. As she waited for Quinton to make a move, Keelo took in deep breaths. Using her quirk like this led to an uneasy recovering period, but despite what opening this might present, she hoped her tense stare into Quinton's eyes would distract him from trying to take advantage of this. With Quinton's distractionary quip, Keelo simply gave him an annoyed, almost disgusted, look, intent on keeping her guard up. "You have one, just go home! That lasts for a while and should be enough, you don't need more than one at a time." She urged, an anger rising in her voice from having to protect a makeup store of a place from being robbed. Hopefully, her proven versatility along with the annoyance in her voice would be enough to make Quinton settle on just one tube of lipstick for now. |

Damn! His mind was working a mile a minute trying to come up with a new plan, but nothing came to mind. They were even ability wise, but she has clearly had more experience than Quinton. There was no winning a head on fight. A tear streamed down his cheek. Quinton believed that he had failed his goddess. The only purpose he had in life and he was about to lose it for good. His head sank as more tears dribbled out from the backs of his eyes. His vision was blurry. He wiped his tears, but only more came. A small puddle of pathetic self loathing formed at his feet. Crying in front of the enemy. Truly I am not worthy of Her love. If She saw me now, She'd disown me for sure. I can't even get a simple gift for my Goddess. What use am I as a Priest? Keelo spoke questioning his judgement. Head still bowed, he spoke, "You don't understand. This isn't for any normal person. This is for a God. The one who will rule over us all and surpass what mankind has done thus far. She will create a world fit for Her... As it should be." Quinton clinched the lipstick in his hand, "She deserves more! I can't do much, but I can do little things like this. She already has a suitable army for herself and people far more intelligent than me for her advisers. I'm the only one who has nothing to offer. All I can do is give Her small gifts, praise Her and lay down my life if need be... but even that isn't enough for her." He continued to weep, conflicted about what exactly he should do with himself. Keelo's stance tightened as Quinton started to break down, wary that this might be a trick. She wouldn't normally be so strict and untrusting, even with an opponent, but Quinton's entire presence baffled her. As his speech went on, however, Keelo went from guarded to confused to a slight feeling of pity. Her broom went to her side before she slumped down to a sitting position, listening to the last of his plea with a light sigh. "Hey hey, no need for waterworks, I can't handle that." "Well.. look. Before I go on, I just wanna remind ya' that I won't try to stop you if you leave, but if you try anything funny while we're talking, I won't hesitate to end this." Keeping an eye out for any aggressive movements, Keelo responded to this unexpected outburst. "I don't know anything about your Goddess, or much about religion at all.. but I think I know people pretty well." She pauses, taking a moment to tuck her aviators in her jumpsuit pocket. "When it comes to gifts, the content doesn't matter, well, it can, but the material wealth of it probably doesn't. It's the reason you got it for them and what that means that's important. Think of it this way. You actually went through the commitment of thievery to get an offering for your Goddess, even engaging combat to get her this gift. That means a lot, and if your friend really is a God, then she'll know all you did to get to this point and appreciate it. If not, well, you can make come up with your own conclusion on that." Taking a moment to stand up, Keelo hesitantly approached Quinton, wiping away some of his tears with a sympathetic look on her face. "I still don't condone stealing." She started, pulling out a tissue from the janitorial cart beside them and handing it to her. "But I can understand wanting to please someone who means that much to you. How about this: considering your God will know how much you went through to get that one tube of lipstick, that should be enough, right? I'll pay for it, so it's not stealing. Deal?" She offered, hoping this compromise would end the conflict. |

Could what she say be true? Quinton continued to stare at the floor. Would She still accept me as Her priest? Even after I failed such a simple task? He couldn't really imagine it. Huong was not a merciful Goddess unless it benefited her in some way... but Quinton did fight a worthy opponent and he did get her at least one stick of what she wanted. His eyes still stung from crying. He blinked a few times to let his vision focus. His head rose slightly to look at the mes he had made in the store. The wet confetti on the cold tiles reminded him of how useless he truly was, but perhaps that was a good thing.... in a way. Huong wouldn't expect him to get her loads of make up at his current strength. Maybe now wasn't the time to prove his worth to her. Maybe this single stick was enough. Even if Quinton though that she deserved more, this was the best that he could do and she knew that. And it's not like he was told to get it. It was a surprise gift. Any amount would still be a surprise! Quinton had decided that he would just take this one and leave. Keelo then walked up to him and wiped his tears like his mom used to do when he was little. His stomach twisted, but it felt comforting at the same time. She was the nicest person Quinton had ever met. After she offered to pay for the lipstick he stole he lifted his head and met her eyes with his. He looked pathetic. Like a whimpering puppy wanting attention from it's master. "R-really?" he said voice still shaky. "Ok..." Quinton, not sure what else to do or how to thank her for the kindness she had shown him, hugged Keelo. He buried his face into her and sobbed even more. This continued for an uncomfortable amount of time. Once he was done he turned around and walked out of the store without saying another word. He committed her face and decided to spare her if they ever met under awkward circumstances. When Quinton got back to HQ he put the lipstick on Huong's nightstand. Her sleeping face was as beautiful as ever. He was careful not to wake her. The door shut quietly and he made his way back to his room. He lit the incense above his shrine to Huong, knelt, clasped his hands and prayed. "Goddess Huong, ruler of all, second to none, perfect in every way, bless me as you have blessed this day. May I show the light that you have shown me to other's worthy of praising you. May I get stronger in order to serve you better. And if I may make a special request, Goddess bless that janitor that I met tonight and may she eventually come to see your light." |

Keelo stepped away at his confirmation from this deal. Putting roughly 25$ in for the exchange of the pricey lipstick, Keelo turned around to be hugged without warning. She stood still, slowly returning the hug with comforting pats and a soft, somewhat awkward, smile. 'He could have attacked me right then and there, probably could have knocked me unconscious, but instead he embraced me instead.' She dwelled on this for the rest of their hug, touched at how he had been led from aggression to this course of action. As Quinton left, Keelo opened the door, giving him a goodbye before he was out of earshot "You remember what I said now, alright? I wanna make sure you stay safe!" She called out before closing the door with a quiet sigh. Keelo winced as she walked back to her cart, the bruise on her stomach starting to make its presence known. Looking around her Keelo realized that Quinton's confettie-centric powers meant that she'd have to clean up the aftermath. She sighs, picking up her broom and getting to work. "Yeah, it's worth it still." She commented, finishing her shift with a peaceful silence once more. |

Comments: I would have loved to see this SL go on longer, and it was interesting to see the relationship between Keelo and Quinton develop in such a way... through a fight! Also, gosh darn it Quagsire and your slow posts. <3 Nice thread though, guys. For future reference, please include all techniques that you're using and such in Spoilers, or in your post in general. It helps make the fight flow smoother and keeps everything above the table, so to speak. Notes
